I have been wanting to try this place for years, well when it was vegan to go..then vegan to galokka and then a handful of other names lol. They did change the name quite a few times this past year and it made me skeptical. But I always had my eye on it. I was disappointed when I went in and now under the name Mint Indian Cuisine That there was no vegan candy bars or any other really vegan treats besides what’s on the menu. I tried to have an open mind for the new place. I was the only person in there and I told the girl at the counter I had never been there and wasn’t really familiar with Indian dishes so I was having a hard time finding what to order. I basically begged her for a recommendation of a dish because when I asked about the menu she said everything was good… one of my favorite answers whenever I’m asking about a menu… give me a run down of popular dishes and describe what they are like. It’s not like everyone going in there in going to have had Indian food before. She was nice..but shy and wasn’t helpful when it came to ordering. One thing I can say needs improvement is service and “furniture”. The actual restaurant itself didn’t feel like a restaurant it felt more like pickup only. The tables are ones that you would use for an event. The tables outside are what I would have rather eat at. They were hard to sit down because they are trying to get 2 rectangular tables with fold down chairs in a tiny spot. Instead of making a couple booths or actual tables, it’s not like 8 people are coming in here to eat all at once, as I mentioned I was the only person in there and this was during the lunch hour. On a positive note, The food was wonderful. I’m glad I took a shot in the dark with what I ordered. I saw someone’s picture on yelp and ordered it. I will definitely come back for food again but I’m gunna do some research on their menu so I can figure out something new to try. Hopefully they spruce up their interior and give tips to the cashier so that she can explain the menu a little better and be a little more helpful. Will do another review once I try more dishes!!

Touch of Asia – Menu with Prices – 6860 W 105th St, Overland Park

Ordered: Aloo Gobhi | Extra Spicy | Chapatti without butter | Onion/Chillies on the side Review: INCREDIBLE. Taste of Asia’s Aloo Gobhi is so special! The Gobhi (Cauliflower) was not too oily, not soggy, and perfectly tender, which to me, is most important! The visuals and the aromatics of my entire meal really made me nostalgic of meals I would have in my mom’s kitchen. Also, Touch of Asia’s rice was explained to me be vegan! Note: Coming from an Indian heritage and transitioning from a Vegetarian Lifestyle to a Vegan Lifestyle, has really allowed me to focus and appreciate Dry Indian Vegetable dishes; like Aloo Gobi, Binda Masala, Aloo Palak compared to animal-cream based dishes like Malai Kofta or Dal Makani, for example. Likewise, appreciating different types of Indian Bread beyond Garlic Naan; like Chapati or Puri, to name a few vegan breads offered at Touch of Asia. Touch of Asia offers quite the variety of Indian Breads, I suggest practitioners of all diets to explore ethnic menus beyond what’s familiar/comfortable to them, as I have! It’s quite fun! Critiques/Suggestions/Gratitude: Suggestion: As a Vegan, I am always going to advocate every restaurant to denote on their menus what IS already vegan or what CAN be prepared that way. Accurate denoting of what is/or can be vegan on a restaurant’s menu, really makes a diner like myself more comfortable and confident about their dining decision and, frankly, willingness to recommend. Touch of Asia has a LOT of menu items that are authentically vegan even without alterations. Why not label them as so? Suggestion: Promote/market your South Indian Menu a bit more; it looks promising! Gratitude: Wonderful and welcoming Team! Gratitude: Giving a FULL 5 star, based on Flavor! Thank you for taking care of me and understanding my diet!

Indu Indian fast food chaat house – Menu with Prices – 4925 W Market St Suit 1105, Greensboro

This place is pretty cool. The food is awesome and affordable. The 10 platter can feed two people and samosas are $1. This is a great place for vegan dishes (just let them you want nondairy). They have in door seating or do takeout. Overall, Indian food is great and this place does a good job of making authentic Indian food. Lastly, the restuarant is inside the Indian market and is a great place to shop for ingredients to make your own Indian cuisine. I will be back to this place for sure.

Mayuri Indian Grill Menu with Prices 5354 McGinnis Ferry Rd # 226 A, Alpharetta

HOW YOU FEELIN? HOT, HOT, HOT!! HOW YOU FEELIN? HOT, HOT, HOT!! This food was so hot that had it been an actual temperature, I would have 3rd degree burns. We ordered several items including, two types of chicken, (65 and butter), fried rice, noodles, mango lassi, garlic and regular naan. I couldn’t believe that all of the main dishes were so hot that the heat upstaged the flavor of the dishes. Everything was very spicy and I only managed to eat a few pieces of the bread. My savory appetite was destroyed but I did manage to drink the mango lassi which was rich and soothing but a bit too sweet. I did not allow this experience to totally darken my view of this restaurant because you can’t get upset with an Indian restaurant for being Indian. I should have held the spice or I think that I will go in for the buffet which should be more balanced. Just be aware of the spice levels and order accordingly. My husband enjoyed it all and did not feel that the spice interfered with his enjoyment of any of the dishes but we have very different tolerance levels when it comes to spice. Also, ordering on line does not work and we had to call in our order but the food was hot and ready in a short period of time. ***Proceed with caution Grasshopper!

Turmeric Indian Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 153 Regent St, Salt Lake City

I discovered ‘Turmeric Indian Cuisine’ via YELP!! YAY FOR YELP!!!! One if those yelp elite events that I missed….(Sad Face! :() But… Indian food gods were like ….Girl!! No worries we will be opening another location downtown which is like 400ft from my work place….And I was like THANK YOU INDIAN FOOD GODS!!!! NAHH…I didn’t even know they were gonna open one in downtown. I just happen to see the “Coming soon” sign while I was going to ice cream at the last course (Btw best ice cream …EVER!) So this was my first time there. So I figure I’ll order what I always was order when judging a GOOD INDIAN SPOT, And That is BIRYANI. In my humble opinion if the biryani is good every other dish just maybe close to BOMB. ? I have had MANY VARIATIONS of biryani, but none of them beats moms. Biryani is THE STAPLE FOODS of india. It is one of many dishes that is readily available ALMOST EVERYWHERE. What is biryani?? I am glad you asked… It is the FOOD OF INDIAN GODSSS!!! LOL It is a rice dish, it is a celebration on your tongue, all that is great about indian curry flavors with or without meat. Most likely eaten with ‘Raita’ savory yogurt sauce. (feel free to ask me more about the sauce ? ) Anyways…. So i order the ‘Chicken Vijayawada Biryani’ (no worries it’s difficult for me to pronounce it as well lol ) it was delicious. The spices were on point and chicken was tender and tasty. Raw onions and lemon just adds more taste to the dish. It came with ‘Raita’ and some funky looking yellow sauce that I didn’t care for. I was impressed at the portion. Most indian resturants are quite stingy with their portions. But this portion serves me well, lunch and dinner!!! I know most people who aren’t familiar with indian dishes are likely to stick with very few indian dishes like butter chicken, tikka masala and naan …But I encourage you to try other dishes, we have MUCH TO CHOOSE FROM … Definitely going back and trying other delicacies & will be back with an update. ?

Long Life Vegi House Menu with Prices 1725 University Ave, Berkeley

So, my friend became vegan, and invited me to this Chinese restaurant that is VEGAN. I couldn’t believe it. Chinese food being vegan? Being half Chinese, and growing up with Chinese food, I couldn’t believe it. LOL **NO MSG!! :):):):) Anyway, we ordered sweet-and-sour pork, with a side of fried rice, and eggroll. Also, we ordered beef with mushrooms braised. I couldn’t believe the “beef” & “pork” actually tasted like beef and pork. I was amazed, and I still am. I am not a huge fan of sweet and sour soup, but their’s was pretty good, especially since it was vegan. Yes, they specialize in vegan food, but they also have a regular menu. I really think that is a great/smart move. More business, more money. Not only that, but a variety is good. I have yet to come back and try more dishes. Maybe it will inspire me to finally try to become vegan, and try to make different dishes, because it is really DIFFICULT to do so. My husband loves meat too, and has no intention in becoming vegan, BUT I can’t wait to have him come to this place! He will be amazed also.

Tadka Indian Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 5290 Arapahoe Ave B, Boulder

Do NOT ENTER – Run the other way. Go to Taco Bell instead! Seriously. You will be way more satisfied. I am saying this as an Indian-American woman who also had an Indian-American dinner companion. We went to this restaurant for dinner a couple months ago. We were so hungry and seeing several vegan and vegetarian options on the menu, we ordered and eagerly awaited our Baigan Bharta and Tofu Saag with rice and parathas. The man taking our order (owner/manager?) had asked us if we wanted our food to be mild, medium, or spicy. We said “medium”. And in Indian restaurants throughout the US, Indians taking orders from Indian customers who say “medium” know exactly what that means. Well we get our food – not the best presentation – but oh well – we were so hungry and we dug in. To our great disappointment our tongues had to experience the most tasteless, bland food ever (not just compared to other Indian restaurants – compared to any other restaurant). It was so not eatable – not properly cooked, not properly spiced. When the man who too our order came by, we asked if there was a mix-up as we had clearly said we wanted a “medium” spiced dish and what we had was less than “mild”. He then has the gall to say to me, “I gave you American “medium” that is why it is not spicy.” Huh????? I mean I’ve been to Indian restaurants in California, New York, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland,……etc. etc. I have never heard that before. As he is talking, his wife walks over to see what was going on. We explain in Hindi how we expected the food to have some spiciness at least. Without asking us what solution we want, she scoops up the dishes and says she can fix them. She goes back and attempts to “fix” them – but when she returns, she stands over us as we each try some – it is still the most awful food ever. We just left the remaining food on the table as is and asked for our bill. Neither the man nor the woman asked to give us a discount or offer any other solution. Like the other reviewer wrote, “terrible food and horrible staff”. Just awful. The worst experience I’ve had ever at a restaurant in recent memory. The people running this place have no idea what good food is nor do they have any business sense!

Vinny?s Greek and Indian Grill – Menu with Prices – 110 Southside Square, Huntsville

So the way I do reviews is that I go into every restaurant as it being 5 stars and it can go down but also they can earn their way back up. I was in DT HSV taking pictures one night and saw Vinny’s. I came a few weeks later with my family. We walked into the place and it seemed very high class however it was 6pm and nobody else was in there (besides the staff). The service was obviously quick. The menu was more Indian than Greek (which is fine, just pointing it out). We ordered samosas and spanakopita. The pastry on the spanakopita was undercooked and we had to send it back. The samosas were only minis which was extremely disappointing. They also are most likely frozen ready-made samosas. The “sauces” in the middle of the dishes are definitely not traditional Indian (or Indian for that matter) nor Greek to my knowledge. It was marinara sauce… The spanakopita came back, cooked decently this time. Soon after, the food came. We ordered chicken tikka masala and paneer tikka masala. The “naan” and rice were “free”(food was overpriced). The naan was really some sort of whole wheat flatbread and not actual naan. Our paneer(cheese cube, completely vegetarian) tikka masala was SUPPOSED to be vegetarian but there was a decent amount of chicken in there. The paneer was not very good and was not restaurant style. The tikka masala (sauce) was decent but tasted very typical among Indian households. The food was also way overpriced, nearly $10 for apps and $15 for entree. In summary Frozen samosas Marinara sauce Undercooked spanakopita Naan? Chicken in paneer Average to slightly below average food Overpriced Not coming back

An Hy Quan Vegetarian Restaurant Menu with Prices 1405 Juan Tabo Blvd NE #4405, Albuquerque

Amazing authentic Asian vegetarian cuisine. I came here with a friend for lunch on a Sunday and had the place to ourselves at opening. Our server was very friendly and helpful with the menu. Food was served fast and everything we had was excellent. The deep fried vegan egg rolls were delicious for starters, served with multiple dipping sauces. Even though they were fried, they were not very oily, which was a nice touch. I ordered the fine rice with shredded veggies, tofu loaf and bbq. It was about as perfect as a entree could be. The rice bed was fresh and it was topped with a variety of tastes, from tangy/sweet (bbq) to savory (tofu loaf) to slightly acidic (veggies). The bbq reminded me of something I once had at a vegetarian restaurant in New York City, but until this, had never found anywhere else. My friend ordered the vegan pho with Vietnamese-style vegan beef. The large bowl was big enough to share and was very flavorful. The only thing I’d recommend is that they make their menu more specific in differentiating between what’s vegan and non-vegan. Some items have vegan in the name, although most don’t. With that said, some options are vegan, but you wouldn’t know for sure unless you asked. Luckily our server was very helpful and honest in telling us what was or wasn’t vegan. The steamed buns are NOT vegan, just a heads up. Aside from nit-picking the menu labels, I loved the authentic Asian cuisine and friendly service. I will definitely be back!

Undisputed Craft House – Menu with Prices – 1881 Saul Kleinfeld Dr, El Paso

I had read about this place so i was anxious to check it out. I finally did last night…was kinda disappointed. I was given a beer menu that was January’s….then another one for February. Im guessing the beers keep changing because they didnt have the one I picked for January’s menu. Had a young girl that wasnt too helpful in helping me in picking the beers. I asked her what i mostly drank and wanted to see was similar to my choices…she had no answer. She wasnt rude, but not helpful… When I walked in I noticed that the place was too lit. Thought it was bar not a Barnes n Nobles. The crowd seemed pretty chill and the music playing had variety which was a plus. Not a bad place but was expecting a lottle more.

East India Company Pub & Eatery – Menu with Prices – 349 York Ave, Winnipeg

I hate to give less than stellar press to Indian restaurants because this is one of my favorite cuisines! BUT, for the first time in quite I while…I was largely unimpressed. Perhaps it’s because I ordered my meal to go? Or maybe the EIC isn’t outstanding Indian food. All I know is I payed a pretty penny and most of what I ordered was mediocre. I settled upon a vegan combination lunch for one. Salad, dessert, chana masala, rice, and aloo gobi. The salad was a little sad; just some lettuce and tomato slices. The chana was really oily. My dessert was supposed to be burfi, which is a kind of fudge, but instead I got jalebi….which I’m not particularly fond of. The aloo gobi was the best part, but is kind of difficult to screw up. It was a lot of food, don’t get me wrong. Finishing all of my food was a challenge but I succeeded. I was just left wanting something better!

Bangali Sweets And Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 2985 Pembina Hwy, Winnipeg

This place just opened up in the strip mall near the old log cabin Mcdonalds, in the same spot that the old Santa Lucia used to be. This brand new Indian restaurant is 100% vegetarian! My mom and I ordered the Veg. Thali which comes with 3 dishes of your choice, rice, yoghurt, and a gulab jamon. I had the vegetable kofta, chana masala, and shahi paneer. The platter also comes with a big basket of naan which were fresh and delicious. The service is kind of awkward (I think it is the son of the owner, he has no serving experience) but the food is so good. They also have a huge selection of Indian sweets for between 6-8 dollars a pound. Try this place!

Phosome Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 480 Parliament St, Toronto

We came here for lunch today. It wasnâ??t busy and the restaurant was extremely well staffed. We ordered four dishes. (1) fresh rolls with mushrooms (2) a vegetarian curried soup (3) shrimp/chicken pad thai, and (4) vegan bun. The food was just okay. There was a weird flavour in everything – almost a chemical taste…not sure what it was or whether I need to be concerned. The main issue was the chicken in the pad thai. It was like rubber. You could barely chew through it. Completely inedible. I brought this to the attention of the waiter who, besides apologizing and saying something to the effect of â??the kitchen made it in a rushâ?, she didnâ??t rectify it. Any normal restaurant would have replaced the dish, offered an alternative, or not charge for it. Anyways, itâ??s only their first or second week in operation…so theyâ??re still learning how to run a restaurant…which is why I will give them another try in 6 months. I will credit them with at least offering a lot of vegan and vegetarian options.
