My co-workers came here as a farewell lunch for one of our friends. Needless to say, this was quite an enjoyable lunch! I ordered the Oyakodon Teishoku set. It came with a few sides, miso soup, steamed egg, and a salad. Visually, this oyakodon was stunning. I don’t have a photo to share because I don’t take food photos, but this was a very appetizing bowl of oyakodon. The color across the chicken and egg mix was consistent, with the chicken mixing incredibly nicely with the egg, and the glistening poached egg on top was just begging to be cut open for its runny yolk to escape. Moving onto the flavor, this oyakodon is as good as it tastes. There was a really good balance between the savory chicken and the sweet sukiyaki-like sauce. The chicken meat was also incredibly well-cooked, the texture was very tender and juicy, and stayed delicate to the egg. The egg was also very nice, though I wish they made it a bit more runnier because I prefer my eggs like that. But that was COMPLETELY made up because of the poached egg on top. It really made the oyakodon incredibly rounded out and made it much richer. Overall, great dish! The sides were good too. I don’t have too much to talk about. The steamed egg was light and fluffy and the flavor was very eggy. All the other sides were small bites that were refreshing, especially with the heaviness of the oyakodon. The miso soup was standard, you can’t really mess it up, and you can’t really make it insanely good. The salad I wasn’t a big fan of. I just wasn’t really into the dressing. I think I can do without the set next time. The service was incredibly good! The waiters were all very friendly and patient, and the food came out relatively quickly. Was it worth the $20 price? I would say so. The food was pretty good quality, and for the amount that I got, I think it’s justified. I would definitely want to come back here to try another dish!

Lychee Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 23450 N 19th Ave, Phoenix

This review is based off of my main dish. I ordered the spicy tuna roll. Which is difficult to mess up. Its spicy so theres a kick present. But its ever so slight. I had to amp it by adding wasabi to each bite. I ordered the General Tsos Chicken. Which on the menu has an indicator letting you know its spicy. It wasnt. It tasting literally like maple syrup. There was no spice present. There wasnt even a smokey flavor. It was just sweet. I couldnt eat another bite without an adjustment made. So i asked for a side of chili oil. Even their chili oil had literally no spice to it. And i used the entire portion of chili oil they provided me with. Probably because its very old or just poorly made. It didnt even make my chicken any better. I picked at the veggies at the plate, requested my check and left. The service was prompt, courteous and friendly. But I guess I feel that I dont go to a resturant for service necessarily but instead i go for the food. But thats just me. I dont believe I will be going back unless its for their Thai Iced Tea. Which I hate to say it was the only tasty thing I ordered. Disappointing considering its a new spot. But Im hoping they make adjustments to their menu otherwise they may not last. Especially since Panda Express is just up the street with better flavors.

Dragon Express / Pho Vietnam Express – Menu with Prices – 678 E St, Chula Vista

I was looking for pho in the area and came across this place. The reviews all seem so great so I decided to give it a try. All everyone sayd about this place is that its in a run down ghetto place. Thats definitely not the case. I ordered orange chicken, shrimp fried rice, y eggrolls, and large pho. My total came out to $35 a bit more than what i usually pay at my regular pho place. It was good but it wasnt the best like everyone says. Rice kinda tasted like it had been cooked since the morning and just sitting under heat. Orange chicken was ehh. The egg rolls where good. The pho was a big portion but it wasnt all that tasty it was missing lots of flavor. I was extremely disappointed since I was sick and pho was the only thing I was craving. I dont think i will be giving this place a second chance. I’ll most likely stick to my original pho place even if its a bit further.

Chuanyu Fusion ???? – Menu with Prices – 7011 W Hefner Rd, Oklahoma City

Yay!! Finally a Delish Szechuan restaurant in the north side of Okc! This place is a hidden gem! It’s new, only been opened a few weeks but my hubby and I have already eaten here twice in one week. First impressions are everything. Our first time eating here, we came in at 3pm on a Wednesday, so it was a bit dead. Not a problem. Just means our meals will be coming faster. Our waitress was very attentive and sweet. Place was nice and clean. Bathroom was very clean! You can have big Barrie’s here too. It’s cozy and plenty of seating. Parking isn’t too bad either. 1st visit: As for food, we ordered what we normally order at a restaurant that serves Szechuan style food. My favorites are: cucumber dish, cool chicken and steamed bacon. The chicken dish, I would say, was a bit different that what I’m use to… there were peanuts on it and the chicken was a bit bland. It could have used a bit more flavor… the cucumbers, did NOT disappoint. It was soooo yummy! If you love cucumbers, you must order 2! Steamed bacon was a hit too. Flavor was on point, it was nicely thinly sliced, and wrapped in a cucumber. We all ordered the minced pork noodles thinking this was a stir fry dish, bc the picture showed a dry noodle dish and it also said stir fry, but when it came out, it was soup. I was a bit confused, but if you read closely on the menu, it’ll say that these pics are for reference only. ? We did enjoy the soup tho. Flavor was all there. 2nd visit: this was 2 days later when we tried it again. Friday night. Same waitress. Super sweet. We ordered our steamed bacon, cucumbers, and a braised pork belly dish because my husband loves this kind of stuff. Well, when it came out, it had 3 homemade steamed buns with it… ok a fan of homemade, so o was happy to try it. Sad to say, we did not like the taste of the braised pork. It has a weird herbal taste to it… had was not tasty. My took one bite to try it and didn’t eat it again. My hubby took several bites and did say it was not what he was looking forward to. It just lacked flavor… from other restaurants, this dish is never left w any leftovers. With our meal, I had a avocado smoothie w boba… and they got I down with their smoothie. I was very impressed. So I will def try other drinks next time. I would also like to try their desserts too. This is my honest review of what we had here, we enjoyed it very much, and will def be back. Overall, I give this place a 5 bc it’s new and they impressed us!

Samurai Noodle – Menu with Prices – 24025 Katy Fwy Suite L, Katy

So this was my first visit to this establishment. I have seen it multiple of times and always wanted to go in. I finally went in and it did not disappoint. I had the chicken karaage and the spicy garlic tampopo with chicken broth and shredded chicken. I am Muslim and cannot eat anything with pork. I dont know if it was the manager or the owner, but he took time in order to explain what would be best for me. I got the chicken karaage first it was good and moist. The flavor was a little weak but acceptable. I got the ramen and was not disappointed. I was astonished by how good the food and broth was. I thought it was going to be over spicy, however, it was just perfect. I could not have eaten that dish Andy quicker than I did that day. So i usually give 5 stars with a heavy creatique, however, in my eyes this store would have gotten it even if the food was sub par. For the people to take time and explain what i should stay away from made my day. I was going to order something with miso, then then the owner or manager advised one of their miso has pork a very minimal amount. But has non the less. Just them being kind and respectful to me would get a 5 start from me and made me a repeat customer.

Sushi Village – Menu with Prices – 3535 Severn Ave, Metairie

*Ordered delivery on DoorDash so this is only based off of food* With that being said, the food was terrible. So terrible that I did not finish it and finished the day at work starving like Marvin. I ordered the chicken teriyaki lunch, which came with a salad, miso soup, and fried rice. Of those, the only thing I finished was the salad but if you mess up iceberg lettuce and ginger dressing then you need not be in business. The chicken tasted like what I imagine the bottom of my boot would taste like. It did not have an iota of seasoning. The teriyaki sauce was barely there and was like brown water. Just plain bland. Luckily, I asked for a side of spicy mayo so I dipped it in that and it gave it some semblance of edibility. Then I just gave up on it altogether. The rice was bleh and I would’ve needed a whole bottle of soy sauce, as opposed to the 2 packets I put in it, to bring it to life. As for the miso soup, I ate two spoons of it and said no more. It also did not contain a granule of salt and just tasted….off. This was my first time having a bad miso soup. The one saving grace about all this is that I ordered a snow crab roll and it was fine. It’d be pretty hard to screw up snow crab, avocado, and rice. I was able to finish all of the sushi roll thankfully. That is the reason I bumped this review up to two stars. I am actually amazed that I saw reviews saying how good the food is here. Maybe their chef called in sick today or something because what I experienced was just not it.

Wayo Japanese Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 2119 S Glenstone Ave, Springfield

We were in the mood for sushi and wanted to try a new place. We came on a Friday evening around 8pm and the place was quiet. We were one of two tables. After tasting our food I was shocked that this place wasn’t packed out. We started with Miso soup and Crab Rangoon, both were delicious. The Miso soup is one of, if not the, best I’ve ever had. The Crab Rangoons were stuffed with cream cheese and real shredded crab meat, fried to perfection and not overly crunchy. For our entrees we had the Chicken Yakisoba and the Rich & Famous roll. The Yakisoba had great flavor. The veggies were cooked perfectly and enhanced the flavor of the dish. Most noodle dishes are more noodle than veggies and meat. Not the case here! The Rich & Famous roll is definitely rich with flavor. It was plated beautifully and not overly doused with sauces. Needless to say, we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. If you enjoy Sushi, this is the best I’ve found in Springfield!

Jinbeh | Japanese Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 301 E Las Colinas Blvd #301, Irving

To get right down to it, the food was just fine – not worth the price. I got the negimaki, which is beef wrapped around scallions. The beef was tender enough, but it was just too salty for my taste. It came with a side of vegetables, which were also really salty, but came with a good helping. Unfortunately, they were steamed too long because they didn’t really have that fresh bite. The rice really helped cut down on the saltiness of the overall dish, but not enough to really balance. It came with a side salad and a miso soup. My biggest problem though was that this cost $19. I would guesstimate that the amount of beef was around 3-4 oz, if even that, and a side of veggies. This dish is not worth the price. You can check my photo to see how much food you get. I can’t speak to the ramen or the sushi items, but if I were to come back, I’d rather try that next time. Also, the waitress came by when I was ready to order and to bring out food. But she barely said 2 sentences to me. If you’ve been here before, or you’ve read other reviews, you know which waitress I’m talking about.

Thai Kitchen Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 1400 Village Square Blvd #114, Tallahassee

One cuisine I have always felt Tallahassee was short of is Thai food, and great Thai at that. I went to the Thai Kitchen for lunch earlier this year. The restaurant has a quaint little setup in the corner by Home Goods. The staff are very friendly. At first, I was a little nervous about expectations because it wasn’t that busy, but I was definitely left not disappointed. Thai Kitchen has a nice selection of dishes to choose from and for the lunch selection, you get a house salad with ginger dressing or soup. I went for the house salad. Their ginger dressing is one of the best homemade dressings I’ve ever had! It was incredibly fresh and tasted as though the ginger was just ground up before the salad was served. For my entree, I ordered the Massaman Curry. This curry dish is not spicy and has a base of potatoes topped with onion and peanuts. The portion size was great and the dish was very pleasing. In addition, the cost for lunch is under $10, which is super affordable compared to other restaurants that leave you paying $10-20 even just for lunch. I was very pleased with my experience and knew I would make it back again. I went back for lunch a few weeks ago and had another equally amazing experience. I definitely could not resist the side salad with ginger dressing, which was just as great as the first time. I ordered the Basil Fried Rice with chicken. The dish consisted of fried jasmine rice, chicken, egg, onion, carrots, red and green pepper, green onion, Thai basil leaves and a spicy basil sauce. This dish definitely has a kick but it also has a bunch of wonderful flavors going on all at one time. In my opinion, this dish was even better than the Massaman Curry. The chef definitely does not skimp on portions, so I was able to get two lunches from one dish and at a super low cost of less than $10. Overall, I think that Thai Kitchen is a great local restaurant and I have no doubt that it will continue its success. I would highly recommend them!

Yamasaki Teriyaki – Menu with Prices – 9 Dixwell Ave, New Haven

My boyfriend and I stumbled upon Yamasaki Teriyaki as an option on Snackpass. I think we just found our new favorite quick, delicious, and cheap Asian-fusion place in New Haven! The restaurant itself is clean and spacious, and the servers and chefs are all so friendly. We ordered the Chicken Bento (with comes with chicken teriyaki over a bed of rice, a side salad with citrus Asian dressing, 3 pieces of gyoza, and 3 California roll sushis) and the Chicken Teriyaki Plus (with comes with chicken teriyaki, a choice of lo mein/fried rice/regular rice) a side salad with citrus Asian dressing, and your choice of hot & sour soup or miso. First of all, the portions are MASSIVE. For under eight dollars, you can get dish that could probably last you 2 meals. Second, the chicken teriyaki is of high quality, and the meat is tender and flavorful. The chicken strips are quite meaty, and they are all well seasoned with teriyaki sauce. The rice under the chicken teriyaki is incredibly soft and pillowy, kind of gummy, which is my favorite kind of rice! We ordered the chicken bento with vegetable lo mein, which was so savory and substantial. The gyoza in the chicken bento box could have been a little more flavorful, but the outside wonton skin was crispy! California roll was standard, and a nice touch. Finally, I have to mention that the dressing on the side salad is one of my new favorites – so tangy and creamy. In addition, I didn’t expect the salad leaves to be so fresh, which was definitely a nice surprise. I will definitely be coming back again!

aSIANA FOODS – Menu with Prices – 755 S Lemay Ave D3, Fort Collins

My daughter and I went today for the first time. She got the sushi burrito with salmon and I got the chicken adobo with steamed rice and veggies and miso soup. My daughter inhaled her burrito! She said it was so good and she loved the sauce that was in it. I enjoyed the chicken adobo. I wouldnt say that it’s authentic but almost seemed like a healthier version that I really enjoyed. I feel that the prices are fair…Ive seen reviews saying its not worth what you get and I would disagree. It was a very large serving for the chicken with sides and the sushi burrito is close to size and price for one you could get at king soopers, except at king soopers it usually sits out all day and here the owner makes it fresh! The point I feel like the restaurant is trying to make is healthy, fast asain foods and that is exactly what I got. So if you want healthy, fast, asain food then this is your place. Would have taken pictures but I was too hungry and devoured it all…lol

Sakura Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 1401 Greenbrier Pkwy, Chesapeake

This is a new restaurant opened in the last month or so. The food here was very good. My colleague and I ordered the Lunch Box, consisting of Soup, Salad and a choice of two rolls or three pieces of sushi or sashimi and one roll. We chose the latter so we could sample the other’s selections. The Miso Soup was hot and delicious. The salad had a ginger dressing that was good, but had a bit of a bitter taste. The star of the show is the seafood. I had the BBQ Eel Roll and the Spicy Tuna Roll, she had the Spicy California Roll and the Salmon Roll. All of them had excellent flavor and tasted very fresh. They had a buy one get one half off special, coupons are in the local newspaper frequently, but the server gave it to us automatically. They also have an ‘All You Can Eat’ option for both lunch and dinner. The server said at lunch if you have only 30 minutes or so order the Lunch Box, but if you have longer then the AYCE was the best value. The reason is that to accommodate everyone, they make sure you get the first round of selections, then after each table has received their order they come back to see if you want more and the process repeats. I will have to go back and check out the AYCE when I am really hungry. The lunch box was a good size and very filling for me. The only drawback i found was that it was a bit noisy and sometimes hard to hear my dining companion.

Rice & Roll – Menu with Prices – 234 Queen St, Ottawa

I had a late lunch here recently (around 2pm on a weekday). The place is small but has a lot of character and the couple working there are incredibly nice. The food is also fresh and delicious. I love maki rolls, but cannot eat sesame seeds, so I can never eat those pre-made packages, I need to have them made especially for me. I told them about my sesame seed issue and they said it was not a problem, they would make me my rolls without them. I got the Combo C ($6.99) (3 California rolls, 3 Spicy Salmon rolls and 6 Hosomaki (chef’s choice, I got 3 cucumber and 3 crab stick)) and a bottle of Orangina ($2.50). The maki were delicious. All the ingredients were fresh and the rice was expertly seasoned. The rice to other ingredients ratio was perfect and the rolls were a good size. I was offered a free bowl of miso soup and it was excellent. It was not too salty which is my most common complaint with miso soup. It didn’t have that much seaweed or tofu chunks in it though. However, miso soup is all about broth so I can’t fault them for that. The takeout menu says that the miso they use is certified organic. The place is very small, there are 2 round tables of 2, and a counter that seats 4. It’s more a takeout kind of place. The place is also very cozy and decorated with all sorts of Asian knick-knacks. It has a very warm feeling to it. The couple working there I’m sure are husband and wife. Their interactions with each other were very cute. When the man went to make my rolls, the woman reminded him “no sesame seeds.” They are very polite and nice. It is too bad that I do not work nor live around this place, because I would like to eat here more often. I will come back when I am in the area.
