Not the best place to try real Colombian food, I ordered a sancocho which is a soup with meat, potato, yuca and plantain I was very disappointed by the smell of the soup and the yellow color. it really stinks my husband tried the bistec a caballo which was ok but not something that I would repeat, the rice was good and the cucumber that came with the salad wasn’t fresh. Juices and papas criollas were good. Service was friendly but not a fan of the food. And never go to their bathrooms those were gross. I am Colombian and this restaurant really disappointed me is a shame because this was my first time there and I would not recommend it to anyone

Colombian Empanadas – Menu with Prices – 21926 Kingsland Blvd, Katy

Unfortunately this is the worse Colombian spot in Houston. Pastries are almost always stale. The pan de Bono’s are super dry and not cheesy at all. Do not get the Cheese arepa. They will give you a dry thick arepa with a little bit of cheese inside. It’s actually pretty embarrassing to even call this place Colombian. The customer service is bad. Especially if you get the male, he hasn’t learned how to smile or be nice(he’s part owner too). Please if you want to try out Colombian food Do Not come to this place. It is no where near an actual representation of how good our food is. If you’re Colombian well then you really have no reason to be coming or you’ll be super disappointed like the rest. If you want a real Colombian bakery go to Risaraldas bakery on highway 6

Elixir Liquid Therapy – Menu with Prices – 3625 Florida Ave S, Lakeland

I personally get my Elixir juices at different locations around Plant City, rather than at the Gold’s Gym in South Lakeland, where Elixir is based out of. My personal favorite is the Turmeric Tonic – it’s tangy and sweet because of the lemon, orange, apple, and coconut water. The addition of carrot juice and cucumber makes it really tasty and fresh. Plus it has Turmeric, which is anti-inflammatory and great for you. Sometimes the local businesses that carry the juices will be out of juices or not have the ones I like, but the juices themselves are great.

Maine Juice Co. – Menu with Prices – 129 Spring St, Portland

This is by far the best juice place in all of Maine. I am never disappointed. They have the freshest cold pressed juices you’ll find anywhere. They have a large assortment of options to choose from. They have fresh vegetables and plenty of fruit options. They also have an amazing rewards program, so people like myself can earn points towards free juices! The staff is great and it’s super clean. I highly recommend this place this is becoming a staple for me.

Lou’s Fresh Flavor – Menu with Prices – 177 1/2 S Cypress Ave, Columbus

Talk about hole in the wall. I’m sure you hear that term all the time, and with lous fresh flavor there is no exception. It is literally a hole in the wall (see pic). Located in Franklinton near the library, its neighbors with red door bbq. The set set up is quite interesting. It’s a walk up window. You walk up, look in and you’ll see a large kitchen. You’ll immediately know this place is the real deal because theres nothing fancy about it. A large kitchen that looks like mine or yours but bigger, with maybe 2 staff members. The menu is simple. They have some apps and platters. I reccomend going early. I went at 12 and the papas I’ve heard so much about were gone. They open at 11…..Service is great. I greeted with a smile and all of the questions were answered. I ended up ordering the pork platter. It comes with the most amazingly seasoned pulled pork piled on top of yellow rice with a side of red beans, a salad, and your choice of a side. My side was the fried green plantains but they have the sweet ones too. The drinks were those famous banana and guava juices, you’ve probably seen them at Kroger. Everything was outstanding. I definitely want to go back for a papa, I’ve heard so many good things about them. None the less, if you’re looking to try something new, head over to Lous. You will not be disappointed.

RAWA Mediterranean Fusion, Middle Eastern Food – Menu with Prices – 838 Whalley Ave, New Haven

We have lived down the street from Rawa for just over a year and haven’t made it in until now. We have walked by and driven past often, but the restaurant doesn’t usually look busy, so we weren’t sure if it was any good. I’m disappointed we have only now experienced this restaurant, and it’s a shame they don’t get more business! We came in rather late in the evening (9:30 PM) on a Saturday and we were seated quickly. I had the Rawa cocktail (Sauza tequila, Cointreau, and hibiscus infusion), and it was delightfully fresh. We shared the baba ganoush, which came with fresh pita; we devoured it within minutes. For our entrees, we split the falafel plate and the chicken biryani; both were SO good. Seriously, it was the best falafel I’ve ever had–there was some seasoning on them that blew my mind. The chicken biryani was perfectly spicy and was magical with the cucumber mint yogurt sauce. Lastly, we had the baklava; it was super tasty, and I wanted more! Our server was terrific–she was very attentive yet not intrusive. When there was a small issue with our bill, she took care of it quickly and gave us two extra pieces or baklava for the inconvenience. Now that we know how delicious the food is and how great the service is, we are certainly disappointed we didn’t go sooner, and we will definitely be back!

Gourmet Deli 65 – Menu with Prices – 6540 Woodside Ave, Flushing

It’s a small deli but they have awesome Mexican food! Tortas, tamales, elotes, quesadillas, tacos just to name a few and homemade horchata, Jamaica and lemonade. Their breakfast & regular sandwiches are just as good too. It’s right next to papas kitchen. It has seats outside if you wanna just chill for a little & enjoy the summer weather. I recommend it! You won’t be disappointed :).

Irashiai Sushi Pub Japanese – Menu with Prices – 115 Pelham Rd #26, Greenville

I love the sushi and appetizers here. They have happy hour from 5-7pm Mon-Thur. And they are open for lunch Sunday-Friday. Update (6/16/19): The rolls here are super thickkk and filling. Honestly would be really stuff with just an appetizer and a roll. I’ve tried a number of things from the menu. I like their salad dressing. It’s like a ginger vinaigrette. The tornado cucumber is really refreshing and you have a choice of what protein you want for it. The tornado cucumber is like a veggie salad slash sushi roll where everything is wrapped with cucumber instead of rice. I usually go for a salmon tornado cucumber. There’s a vinaigrette sauce that is poured on it and it’s really tasty and evicts the blandness of the cucumber and veggies of the dish. My favorite roll is the lucky cat. Their crab fingers are good so but gets tiring really quick. Their string beans age are pretty good but I think it would be better if it was tempura instead of just battered (kind of like a fried okra). Their sashimi is hit or miss. It doesn’t always taste fresh.

Hilton Cleveland Downtown – Menu with Prices – 100 Lakeside Ave E, Cleveland

HINT- Arrive between 11:45 and noon to find the best salad and sandwich selection. A good assortment of veggie crudités, fruit cups, parfaits, cheese sticks, juices/coffee/sodas and delicious sandwiches and salads are available here in the to go style market. The turkey pastrami sandwich is delicious, loaded with tomatoes, lettuce, cucumber, spiced mayo and tons of turkey pastrami on grilled bread. It’s a solid 5 star sandwich in my book, and at $7.95 – couldn’t believe the quality for that! Highly recommend. Extra condiments, napkins and utensils can be found on the counter by the coffee machine. Had to dock a star because the soda/teas and juices in the cooler are quite overpriced, the snack and sandwich options are great in the early afternoon but get picked over quickly, so I say get there early and if you think you’ll want a healthy late night snack, grab it early and put it in your room’s mini fridge to keep for later. Came in after 9 one night and as far as snacks, it was candy, cookies or chips but nothing fresh left in the fridges, plan ahead.

Wayuu Latin Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 1409 E Vine St, Kissimmee

I will start off by saying that most of my experiences with wayuu have been via DoorDash, and when I found out that this location was less than a mile from my house, I had to make it a point to stop by in person ! I’ve seen this location change businesses (previously vino tinto and a few others) with great food but for some reason didn’t survive. I wish this business the best of luck because the food has very reasonable price points (Colombian food usually veers towards the expensive side) and delectable flavors! We’ve tried the crispy, well-filled empanadas, the pabellon criollo, bandeja paisas, and the churrasco. From top to bottom the flavors are perfect and everything is made fresh. The service is also great as the servers work as a team to ensure satisfaction from every table. It’s a small restaurant, not somewhere I’d recommend for big parties, but order takeout if you have to feed a lot of mouths because it is worth it! The Venezuelan and Colombian infusion was so smart because You can order both cuisines and compare and share them with your loved ones. This place has my support please don’t change! *will post pictures next time*

Rico Pan Bakery – Menu with Prices – 58-13 Woodside Ave, Flushing

Came here after watching Action Bronson go and I wasn’t disappointed. This could very well be the best Colombian bakery around. What’s better than a coffee and a bunuelo on Sunday morning? Nothing; nothing at all. This has become my morning ritual after coming here once. There’s several latino bakeries in Woodside, but Rico Pan really is the best. It’s more spacious than the rest. It’s cleaner than the rest. They’re friendlier than the rest. And their goods taste better too. I have a Colombian bakery two blocks away from me and I refuse to go there cause their bunuelos can’t touch Rico Pan. With so much surrounding this bakery, even if you didn’t want to go out of your way for it, something you’re doing is going to bring you in this direction. Treat yourself to some of their delicious items. Their pan de bono is also amazing!!

GO FISH POKE – LAS COLINAS – Menu with Prices – 5244 N O’Connor Blvd #154, Irving

There are so many Poké places in Las Colinas to try. My friends wanted to try this new place. The decor was cool and the restaurant is very spacious. The concept of ordering is like Which Wich if you’ve been there. You get a piece of paper and check which ingredients you would like to have in your bowl. I chose the regular bowl so I got to choose two bases and two proteins. I picked the organic spring mix and kale salad for my bases. For my fish, I got spicy tuna and Scottish salmon. Then you get to choose a bunch of mix-ins. I got mango, pineapple, cucumber and all the seaweed options they had. I then picked mango sauce and eel sauce and mixed those two together. Finally topped off my bowl with seaweed salad, edamame, masago, crispy onion and nori. If you don’t want to pick and decide all these options yourself, they have signature bowls you can choose from. Anyway, all of that together sounds so good but something was just off about my bowl. I didn’t have that initial YUM reaction that you get from eating poké. The organic mix just wasn’t fresh. I had pieces of old black lettuce in my bowl and I spit out a cucumber because it tasted like some kind of cleaning chemical. I really wanted to like it, but it just wasn’t right. Maybe I just came on an off day. The taste didn’t come together and some of the veges didn’t taste too fresh. The employee that was there was really helpful though. He explained a lot of the menu items to us and also was patient with me while encouraging me to try the different sauces offered. Another plus was that they offered complimentary miso soup. I normally don’t like miso soup but that was probably the best I ever had.

Aji Sushi & Grill – Menu with Prices – 2360 Mendocino Ave A-1, Santa Rosa

My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of being served by Jose and Christina, the owner. We instantly felt very welcome upon being seated. Jose was quick to ask for our drinks and appetizers. We started off with a bottle of Sake, garlic edamame, oysters, miso soup, and a cucumber salad. I was very impressed with the oysters. They tasted fresh and were served on a bed of ice with a nice lemon sauce, which complimented the oyster flavor perfectly. My girlfriend also appreciated the fact that the cucumber salad actually had seaweed salad on top as well. Lastly, the garlic edamame had some good charring and served hot, which was amazing. From there, we ordered our entrees. 15 PC Sashimi: Amazing assortment of fish. This was my first time ordering sashimi in such a large quantity. Comparing and contrasting the fish in its purest form was a great learning experience for my fish preferences. Vegetable Udon Noodle Soup: It was delicious. My girlfriend especially enjoyed the flavor of the broth. She recommends adding a little soy sauce and wasabi. TNT Roll: Excellent roll for spicy enthusiasts. It had a great kick, while still letting the fish be the main event of the roll. Giliante Roll: My girlfriend enjoyed this one. She would definitely recommend! This one also had a good spiciness about it, but nothing too crazy. Lastly, we enjoyed the deep fried oreo for dessert, which is a must have in my opinion. You could cut into the Oreo so easily with the spoon. Overall this was an incredible experience and the owner Christina was so friendly! Jose did a phenomenal job checking in on us periodically and our food was prepared quickly, without sacrificing for an amazing presentation. We will certainly be coming back the next time we are in Santa Cruz, and we will probably be full until then!
