Amazing breakfast that did not disappoint. We arrived just after 8a on a Saturday and were seated outside right away. The patio is gorgeous with umbrella covered tables, picnic benches and trees scattered throughout the space. We were warmly greeted and sat at a great little two top near the center of the brick covered patio. As McKay’s started to fill up it became apparent that this is a VERY dog friendly spot. It made the morning a little warmer to see so many families with their furry friends enjoying it. My wife ordered the guac-n-roll (avacado toast) and it was heavenly. Two generous pieces of toast covered with avocado, arugula and cherry tomatoes; seasoned to perfection. I ordered the special which was diced potatoes, cubed ham, bacon and two poached eggs with the in house hollandaise sauce. To say it was delightful would only be a half truth as it was decadent! The entrees were preceded by their butter scone and homemade marion berry jam. We may have made a trip into the small bakery after breakfast to take some home. In summary McKay’s offers great atmosphere, service and food for a very fair price point. We highly recommend it and cannot wait to go back again soon!

Omlette Inn Cafe – Menu with Prices – 15070 Edwards St, Huntington Beach

In my quest to find quality B&G around the OC, I visited Omellete Inn. At first I was the only customer. A single employee ran the front of the house. Since Biscuits and Gravy is not a toast option, I decided not to order an omelette. Instead, I ordered a plate of Biscuits and Gravy. It took a little while but I saw that as a good sign since given the lack of customers, they would have to make it rather than heat it up. What arrived were four halves of real buttermilk biscuits, toasted on a flattop, turned cut side up, and covered with gravy. The biscuits were the drop kind. They aren’t flaky, but cakey. That is fine. The gravy is real gravy, not a mix and tasted good. It could have used a little salt and a lot of pepper. I fixed that and finished the plate. B&G is a dying art and the Omellete Inn is keeping it alive with the real deal. I would like to see an upgrade on the breakfast plates that instead of toast you can get a half or even quarter order of B&G instead of toast. Also, they need a breakfast plate that features gravy besides CFS. The most common is 2 eggs and sausage patties atop a split biscuit covered in gravy, with potatoes on the side. Like a country eggs Benedict.

Miss Worcester Diner – Menu with Prices – 300 Southbridge St, Worcester

On our drive home, we were so so hungry and we came across Miss Worcester Diner on Yelp! On the inside, the place is quaint and has a very homey diner feel to it. We were lucky enough to get a table right away. The menus are already on the table and we didn’t realize there was 2 separate menus- one for the regular food and one dedicated to French toast! After we put in our orders, we were looking around at the stickers from our seat. We were seated by the door and my boyfriend was pointing some sticker on the door… and that’s when I saw that the place is CASH ONLY! We thankfully had bills so we were fine. The food: My boyfriend got the meat lovers omelette and he said it was alright. I think we both thought that the omelette would be bigger. I ordered the Irish eggs Benedict with homemade corned beef hash. This dish was hefty and covered the entire plate. They gave a good helping of hollandaise sauce on top as well. The home fries were good, especially with the assortment of hot sauces they have at the bar. The real showstopper, and what we thought was extremely worth coming here, was the French toast. We got an order of the crunchy French toast and it was literally the perfect French toast in my eyes. The best I’ve ever eaten!

The Cuckoo’s Nest Menu with Prices 234 Western Ave, Albany

If you’re looking for a delicious meal on a lazy Sunday morning, The Cuckoo’s Nest has got you covered. From my brief glimpse of the interior, the restaurant is an intimate, cozy space, exactly what you would want for brunch with friends. On the day we went, the weather outside was a balmy 75 so my boyfriend, friend, and I sat outside. The patio is charming and welcoming with bright spring flowers and well organized with sufficient room between adjacent tables. My boyfriend ordered the Calvin’s Benedict and my friend, the omelet. Based on the fact that they cleaned their plates, I can only assume they were happy with their meal. I ordered the Cuckoo sandwich which was a decadent breakfast sandwich, fried to perfection. The chicken, despite being fried, was moist inside with a perfectly poached egg and sausage gravy on top. The accompanying fries were very, very good, crisp and served piping hot as fries should be. Our waitress was warm and attentive, exactly what you would expect from a Southern restaurant. My only regret is that I didn’t get to try to regular menu, which sounds amazing, and that I didn’t get a mimosa that morning; they have quite an unusual selection of drinks. Oh well, guess I’ll have to go back.

Felix Cocktails et Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 550 King St #100, Charleston

1/13/19 I have been here for dinner and loved it! When I learned that they were serving brunch, I was excited to return! The atmosphere is semi-casual which in Charleston means you could feel comfortable showing up in your Sunday best or flip flops and shorts. It is unpretentious and relaxed but also a place that is date worthy. Our server was attentive but not hovering. We started with some in house made Bloody Mary’s and a glass of wine. I liked that the Bloody Mary wasn’t as harsh as the usual pre-mix stuff you get at other places. Husband ordered the Félix Benedict served on a potato cake. Topped with a crab cake, bacon, poached egg, hollandaise and salade verde. “Oh man, this is so good” after his first bite. Silence after that as he happily continued forking his way through every bite of that dish. It’s on my radar for our next visit, it looked delicious! My daughter and I both ordered the Raclette burger. Two double short rib-brisket blended patties, caramelized onions, dijonnaise, raclette, Brown’s Court sesame seed bun served with house cut pommes frites. This burger is absolutely killer! Juicy, packed with flavor and covered in delightful raclette cheese that is creamy, gooey and nutty. The caramelized onions added a slight sweet flavor and was balanced well with the dijonnaise. It was just thick enough to get a great portion of meat and ingredients but not so thick that I couldn’t bite into it. Because it is was so juicy, once I pick it up, I was committed to it. I cut mine in half, a safe approach, but could not put it down to even wipe my mouth, yea that good. The fries where perfect! Perfectly fresh, perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned! I would recommend them for dinner or brunch!

Rick & Libby’s – Menu with Prices – Village Shopping Center, 11006 Warwick Blvd Unit 458, Newport News

***UPDATE: I have returned as of today (3/15/19) and the customer service this go round was phenomenal! Very warm and inviting and got my order within 2 minutes of me walking through the door! I still got the western omelet (it was really delicious ð???) but instead of a short stack of pancakes I got the French toast. This is actually my birthday breakfast ð???ð???ð???ð??! The food at this establishment seriously does not disappoint! I will be back to try other things off their menu!*** This was my first time trying this establishment. I ordered the western omelet with potatoes and a biscuit as well as a short stack of pancakes. Everything was absolutely DELIGHTFUL! The omelet and potatoes were seasoned to perfection and the pancakes were fluffy. The food was absolutely amazing and affordable with nice sized portions. The only reason I didn’t give this place 5 stars is because when my order was brought out to me, it was placed on a table adjacent to where I was sitting as opposed to the table where I was sitting. It kinda gave me the “here’s your food now cya” type of feel. I only mention this because I am big on customer service and that threw me off. Other than that the food was great!

3Fish Cafe Menu with Prices 466 Madison Ave, Albany

Really cute local coffee shop in downtown Albany. I had the pumpkin spiced latte (made with real pumpkin – not just the spices!) which was excellent. I always give bonus points for oat milk, too! My boyfriend got the cold brew which he said was great. They have a small but solid selection of freshly baked pastries, including brownies, scones, and cinnamon rolls. The cinnamon roll was lovely with cream cheese icing and a gooey center. We also had the veggie quiche (spinach and goat cheese) which was small (right portion for me!) but tasty. We also tried their Nutella and strawberry toast which was delightful. The bread is hearty and toasted to perfection, then slathered with Nutella (never the wrong answer) and topped with sliced strawberries. The atmosphere is chill, and on a Saturday morning is full of students studying. The staff is very nice and accommodating. They have a big back patio which would be great in nice weather. Definitely recommend for a cute spot to have a light, non-fussy breakfast while in the area.

Michele’s Cafe – Menu with Prices – 1373 Clinton St, Buffalo

Great little diner, clean, homey retro vibe, reasonablely priced, servers were on point, Michele the owner was on the grill cooking & directing! We ordered breakfast, portions were hearty – french toast, bacon, eggs, grits, breakfast sandwich, real homefries, coffee – all served hot and fresh with a smile. They even have chicken & waffles (next time). They have a small “bake shop” that rumor has it is a lil slice of heaven, wasn’t available this am but one of the items is grilled pound cake! Lunch specials include Meatloaf sandwich, subs, Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich, soups – can’t wait to get back and try some lunch eats! My only criticism was the maple syrup, for some reason it was ice cold & chilled the french toast, I even tried pouring it on the plate first to get to room temp but I’d already covered most of the french toast with the cold syrup – kind of disappointing as it actually made the french toast cold, french toast had good flavor though, I’ll just check the syrup bottle next time, ask to have it microwaved or something .. lol. We will be going back!

M.B. Haskett – Menu with Prices – 324 S Phillips Ave, Sioux Falls

This is the perfect spot for breakfast. We came in on a Sunday morning around 9 with our 6yo. We could have been seated outside immediately but hubs declined so we waited about 10 minutes. We ordered mocha latte, iced latte, vanilla latte, eggs Benedict, a breakfast sandwich and a strawberry sweet crepe. 1st. There is not a kids menu but definitely things you could order or share as we did. We ordered our son the crepe. It was filled with strawberry jam. I thought it’d be fresh strawberry on top. We should have asked. I’m sure this would be spot on to some, just wasn’t for us. I had the eggs Benedict and shared with my son. This was perfection. It was not your typical hollandaise sauce and hid a little kick of flavor. Not spicy but something that stood out. The whole thing was devoured. We also ordered the breakfast potatoes. I think I got 3 kiddo ate the rest. They come in a small bowl. Husband had the breakfast sandwich and can be very picky and still hungry. This and his own order of potatoes did the trick for him. Overall this was great food. The room did get very loud but is not super noticeable with your own conversation. The only reason i am giving 4 and not 5 stars is. The hostess working was running her butt off. She sat us. Took our drink order and then we waited… tables were sat next to us, after us and got water before we ever did. Still waiting…seemed to be confusing or disagreement on who was waiting on us as 3 different ladies dropped stuff off to us. The table next to us that arrived after us ate and paid before we even got our food. The wait was difficult for our kiddo. Would we suggest it and go back? Yes.

Foodies Cafe – Menu with Prices – b, 436 S Parramore Ave, Orlando

Three of us had lunch at Foodies, and every bite was delicious. Fish and grits- beautifully cooked white fish and cheesy grits- and chicken and waffles- again, cooked to perfection and served with a homemade vanilla syrup- are available for breakfast or lunch. The third member of our party, originally from Philadelphia, enjoyed the authentic Philly steak sandwich, which was served on a warm hoagie roll, and filled with so much meat, grilled onions, peppers, and mushrooms that it was necessary to eat it with a fork. The side order of fries was well seasoned, as were all the dishes we sampled. Pistachio cake for dessert was moist and decadent. This is not fast food; instead, everything is cooked fresh when ordered. Foodies is a friendly place, and we look forward to our next visit.

Crowne Plaza Melbourne-Oceanfront – Menu with Prices – 2605 N Hwy A1A, Melbourne

Marisol At Crown Plaza- Beachside Melbourne 3-Stars. Going to restaurants inside of hotels you are not staying makes me feel like a stalking horse. This particular trip was no different. What adds to the heightened intensity is these restaurants are geared to provide a breakfast buffet to guests. I waltz into the hub and ask for a menu, which sends the service staff into a state of disorientation. Here at Marisol the problem was handled professionally. While the music was blaring, and the dishes had to be replaced do to a lack of cleanliness, the view was amazing and the server on point. Now on to the food. I ordered steak and eggs. The eggs were cooked properly, the hash browns were crisped in butter and a side of asparagus was served with a creamy hollandaise sauce slathered on top. The breakfast steak which was a commercial grade cut sirloin so nothing special. However, this steak will play a large part in an upcoming review where a restauranteur tried selling me this exact same steak but tried to pass it off as a filet. Anyway, back to the story. The steak actually had been seasoned in the kitchen so no steak sauce was needed. If you are sick of the regular places and you want to try a hotel breakfast then Marisol is an average offering. Big Boy says you can try it but there are better offerings elsewhere.

Moultrie Creek Diner – Menu with Prices – 4010 US-1, St. Augustine

If you are looking for some good old fashioned diner food, this place has got you covered. With great food, great service, and great prices, you’ll be back again and again. It may seem basic, but I am a girl who loves eggs, bacon, toast and potatoes for breakfast. As simple as this order is, many people get it wrong. Eggs cooked wrong, bacon not crispy or too crispy, potatoes soggy or underdone. Toast stale or covered in fake butter. That is why I was pleased when the entire meal was perfect. Their potatoes are the best part–super crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. My mom loves to get the eggs Benedict with the biscuits. So good! They also have mimosas if you’re feeling like really having a good brunch! Our waitress was super attentive and nice! I hope to see her again soon! This place is just all around great. I’ll be coming here more often!

Daybreak Pleasant Street – Menu with Prices – 308 NW 5 Ave, Gainesville

Daybreak is the kind of breakfast joint you don’t want to pass. The menu offers variations on traditional staples, serving up the classics I look forward to but with a fresh take. The meals are pliable to the cravings of the health-conscious, vegans and gluten-free diners, skimping not a bit in their offerings to folks who indulge in the most hedonistic of breakfasts. Which is to say, their stuffed french toast was spectacular. My boyfriend and I shared it which was good foresight. We slathered it in butter (drawn!) and syrup (maple!) with a pitter-patter of salt. My roommate drizzled Cholula on her half. (soft pass.) The bread was perfectly spongy, a great balance of sweet and savory. The sugar-powdered berries were appreciably abundant. The coffee was notably good. The potatoes were, crisp, fluffy and well-seasoned. Their strawberry preserves are available at every table with a casual spoonful ready for your toast. Such a good touch, makes me want to high-five. My salmon omelette was great. I love a good lox breakfast and I’ve never had it served with eggs and no bagel. The dill and capers in the cream cheese remind you that, yes, this is the ticket. (A sizeable meal, fyi.) My boyfriend got the biscuits and gravy and they were picture perfect. Everything tastes great and the service was wholesome, close-knit and exceptionally kind. Our server was Britney and she was stellar. I didn’t pay the tab so I don’t know how to spell her name but we were all about her attitude. Brittany made everything sound great! She could serve me a carafe of paint thinner and I’d say “omgosh thank u.” So yeah, what a delightful little breakfast spot! I think the inside could use some (4-9) plants and maybe a fan. Support this gem so they can get better tablecloths ? I’m grateful for the tasty food, healthy options, and excellent service! Be back super soon.
