Came here apparently during their HH which runs from 2:30-3:30pm! The price goes from $7.49/lb to $5.49/lb! Score! Been wanting to try this place and not only did I get to but I also got a good deal on it, too! I am sure the freshness and amount of food was slightly compromised considering the time of day but I am okay with that. The owner (I think he was) was very friendly and invited me to take a look around before deciding. They offer a variety of salad bar, cold food, and hot food options. Kind of reminds me of Whole Foods but with less options. The place is quite small, but it does what it needs to do. I got a bunch of things since I like to fill my plate with sample size amounts of food. I really enjoyed the orange chicken but the orange/pineapple tofu (forgot the name exactly) was the star of my plate! The tofu was crispy on the outside with the right amount of sweet sauce and soft tofu on the inside.. YUM! I also liked their mac n cheese. I did not enjoyed the overcooked and dry salmon, but maybe it was fresh and juicy when it first came out and not sitting under the heat lamp for hours when I got to it. This is very close to me so I could frequent this place. Plus, it’s close to the Bellevue transit center. So, you can hop off, get food, and go back to work or where ever or you can get food right before you hop on the bus- if you leave early from work bc this place closes early at 3pm! Overall, I would return, HH or not. I liked having healthy food options and several of them!

Islamorada Fish Company – Menu with Prices – 1133 N Dobson Rd, Mesa

Went there for dinner and asked for orange slices and was given two from the hand of our waiter. Who use the register after. Would not use them. My friend went to the bar to get fresh orange, no hands touching orange slices and the bar tender gave her more using her hand also and said she was going to throw them out anyway. We ordered a appetizer that was 11 bucks and didn’t receive it till food was served. It was very small. We asked for meat well done, it had pink. Asked for it to cook longer got a new dish. Something else was on the plate. Asked our waiter what it was he used his hand to remove it from my plate to look at it. The manager did get me orange slices from the kitchen on a plate. Who knows how they grabbed them. Sorry should have went somewhere else for dinner.

The Indian Bistro Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 671 Ohio Pike H, Cincinnati

Indian Bistro offer authentic Indian food. Diners may enjoy their food ordered off menu, during their lunch buffer, or three nights a week from their dinner buffet. That’s right. Indian Bistro is one of the few Indian restaurants offering a dinner buffet. We got there as they opened. Everything on the buffet was hot and either looked fresh, or was sufficiently stewed. Nanna was fresh. Flavors were balanced. I enjoyed the variety offered. Several vegetarian options with protien from either chickpeas or tofu were available. I did not feel that anything was too spicy. The spiciest dish I tried was the fish. It had a slow burn. My youngest did not have much on his plate. They noticed, and brought a plate of chicken not offered on the buffet for him. It was a kind and appreciated gestures. Several people were picking up to-go orders. One order was even being picked up Doordash.

Hong Thai Express – Menu with Prices – 4155 Rickey St SE #134, Salem

I’ve been looking for a decent massaman curry in Oregon for years. This place makes a great one, by far the best in Salem. The second I had the food placed in front of me I knew it would be a winner, just based on the rich orange/brown color and aroma. I had mine with tofu (I don’t bother ordering meat until a restaurant has shown they can cook) and the tofu was excellent as well – so good I’ll probably order it with tofu again. I went medium heat awas perfectly spicy for a medium. I will try the Panang curry next but I’m probably going to order the massaman curry 3-4 more times just to make sure they know there is demand for it. Honestly, I’m almost in shock to see excellent Thai curry in Salem after trying so many mediocre places. Now we just need an Indian restaurant that is this good. Update: I’ve been back three or four times. Extremely tasty every time. We’ve ordered the Pad See Ew, the Orange Chicken, and the Chow Mein. All of these dishes were excellent. My kids in particular loved the orange chicken and the Chow Mein. My one nit pick is the heat level on the Massaman curry is a little inconsistent. I’ve gotten medium every time but it has been less than medium to quite spicy. I have a wide tolerance for heat so it’s fine but it’s something they could work on. Update 2: orange chicken wasn’t good the second time we ordered it. Everything else was still yum Update 3: A few months have gone by and I’m sitting here eating my massaman curry with tofu (plus asparagus added) and maybe I’m just in the mood for it but I can honestly say this is the best meal I’ve had in years. The flavor and texture of everything in this dish is spot on. I would give the dish I’m eating right now six stars if I could.

Puccino’s Coffee – Menu with Prices – 3544 W Esplanade Ave, Metairie

This location just opened down the street and around the corner from their Lakeside location. I’ve no mind for business but it seems counterintuitive to have two shops that close to each other… but what do I know? Puccino’s is the sort of cafe that tries really, really hard to get you to like it. There’s an almost exhausting amount of food options available… the menu lists eggs, biscuits, waffles, omelets, French toast, all manner of pastries, bagels, sandwiches……. and that’s just the breakfast menu. The lunch menu includes sandwiches, salads, panini, wraps, individual pizzas, soups, and daily blue plate specials. It’s all alright. Nothing top-notch but the prices are reasonable for what you get. But their primary stock-and-trade are their drinks. It IS a coffeeshop, after all. And…… it’s okay. Just okay. Plenty of blended-coffee beverage options (including a frozen Puccino, which is kind of like a milkshake but with coffee instead of milk), hot and iced teas available, a smattering of milks and juices and the like. There’s even a menu of mixed drinks for happy hour, which is from 5-7pm. They’re open very early and close very late, especially by Metairie standards, so if you’re looking for a bite to eat at a nonstandard hour this is your place.

Paradise Food Court – Menu with Prices – 1220 Harrison Ave, Cincinnati

Brand new food court style restaurant open for lunch. Basically, it’s like a buffet with soup, sandwich , and salad bar, but you can really fill your plate with some awesome options. My wife and I have been here 3 times already and the freshness and quality of very good. If you love sandwiches, soups and salads you can basically build anything you want Coming from a Cullinary backround myself, I use the panini grill they have next to the sandwich station. I was able to make a Rueben on my first visit, a Cuban on the second, and a tuna melt on the third. Prices are very reasonable – you can get a plate of food, soup and a soft drink for $10 I especially like the unsweetened fresh squeezed lemonade because you can use whichever sweetener you prefer and they had truvia sweetened available. They also have fruit smoothies available and lots of healthy options. My wife likes the egg salad a lot. For me, the tuna salad is awesome! Great place to stop on for lunch if you work close to the area or live close and are looking for a nice healthy place to enjoy your afternoon.

CONTRA COFFEE and TEA – Menu with Prices – 115 N Orange St, Orange

If you’re in the orange area and are into coffee and tea, then you Contra is someplace you have to try. I’ve only had flights of their ice coffees and teas so I can’t speak for their hot options but I haven’t encountered anything I’m not a fan of. There’s definitely enough options for you to find something you’re into. Not too many options to be overwhelmed, but enough to have your intrigue. Aside from the drinks though they have a book collection on the wall for you to peruse through with different genres abound. And aside from that there are photos on display for sale! I like to take pictures of book options I’d like to read on my own time later. The space is clean and open and there aren’t too many tables to make it feel crowded. Could they afford a couple more? Probably, but I felt like it was a good amount for the space. Everything is community style so if youre more into a solitary type of space I can’t say there are many two-man tables. (There are 2 outside though!) It’s pretty much a good college space for getting some work done. (Though it can get loud when it’s full, so bring headphones?) Puppers aren’t allowed inside (except service dogs) BUT you are welcome to sit with them atik their outside tables. (But they only sit 2. Makes for a cute date!) I do also believe you can buy a bottle of any brew they have on draft but I haven’t explored that option yet. It IS on the periphery of the orange circle so it’s a bit hidden and not the easiest place to see. But worth looking for! There is plenty of parking around on the streets but make sure you’re reading all the signs because there happens to be a few.

Embassy Suites by Hilton McAllen Convention Center – Menu with Prices – 800 Convention, C St, McAllen

This is the second time we come to this restaurant. It was recommended by one of my co-workers specifically because there is a group that plays salsa, bachata, cha cha cha, and merengue music on Friday nights. Though many restaurants and bars play that kind of music here in the valley, this one starts the live music at 7:00 pm. For us who have things to do early Saturday morning, this is great because we can come and enjoy live music and dancing Early and be home by 10:30 if we wanted to. Though the music does keep going well past 10:30, at early sleepers can call it a night after enjoying a good 3 hours of dancing and dining. The only plate I’ve had so far is the Alfredo pasta with chicken. Though it is good, it had a lot of oil. I drained the oil out, though, and enjoyed the rest of the pasta. I shall update this review after we have a second plate.

Hachi Asian Fusion & Sushi Bar – Menu with Prices – 1724 W Newport Pike, Wilmington

What a great addition to this weird strip mall!! My partner and I tried this new place with the help of a Groupon last weekend and were very pleasantly surprised with how much we enjoyed it! -Food: delicious! We fully overordered, thanks to groupon and curiosity. We both got a miso soup (a must try at any new Asian place, amirite?) $2.50 gets you a really nicely sized miso, with plenty of flavor and tofu and seaweed. We tried a house and avocado salad, both served with yummy ginger dressing. Both had fresh veggies and the avocado had plenty of it. For entrees, I went with the basil stirfry and she had the orange medallion – both made with tofu. Both were delicious, good portions, (leftovers taken home of both!), and presented really beautifully. A spicy tuna roll was also ordered but i cant speak for that as I dont eat it. My partner thoroughly enjoyed it adn the critical rice ratio was good. Sometimes you get rolls at places that are just all rice and barely anything else! Hachi did not have that problem. PRO TIP for the VEGETARIANS: there is a TON of stuff to pick from! a few different rolls and just about everything on the rest of the menu – curries, stir fry, noodle dishes, tons of options. I really look forward to going back to try more. Service: Excellent. the dishes were perfectly timed, the server came by to check on us multiple times, kept glasses full, etc. overall a great experience. Ambiance: well, like everything else in DE, this place is in a strip mall. The inside of the restaurant is much nicer than the exterior….. it almost feels like it doesnt belong there, but I am glad it is. They have a nice bar area and a sizable restaurant in general. its a pretty big space and I really hope they do well there. I will definitely be back, groupon or not!o

Café Tibet Menu with Prices 2020 University Ave, Berkeley

4.25/5 Came by for a meal after class on a Wednesday night around 8pm. There were still quite a few tables filled but I got seated right away. Service was friendly and helpful and prices are reasonable. The portions aren’t huge but good enough to be filling. For my meal I got the following: 1) Then Tuk: A very comforting and homey dish. Feels like comfort food without being too heavy. There’s not too much pasta compared to all the items which was a positive for me. The broth was light but very fragrant. The tomato accentuated the flavors of the broth without taking over. The main downside was the chicken which I found to be flavorless and dry. The noodles themselves were alright. Almost like a thick wonton wrapper. (3.75/5) 2) Momos (Beef, Tofu, Spinach/Feta): Got the combo momos plate which came with 3 pieces of 3 types of Momos. They were out of the Kar-sha momo so I got the sha, tsel-chul, and ngotsel. I wasn’t a huge fan of the ngotsel. Flavorwise it was blander and the spinach was tough to chew. However the beef and tofu were both fantastic. The tofu was especially flavorful and bright which I was surprised by. All the sauces paired well with the various flavors. I especially liked the mint sauce. (4.5/5) Overall, I really enjoyed my meal here and would love to come back. I could definitely use another plate of momos!

Just Spring Roll – Menu with Prices – 5657 Spring Garden Rd, Halifax

Meeting a friend for a movie, I arrived early so that I could eat at Just Spring Roll. Located by the elevators on the bottom floor of Park Lane, between the Cineplex and A&W, if you’re anything like me you’ll probably recognize it as a place you’ve seen a lot when going to the movies but hardly, if ever, visited. I’ve been there a couple of times to get some cans of fantastic jasmine tea, and once before to eat, but alas, I didn’t take any notes for a review. Luckily, this time I was planning ahead. Thanks to the mysterious ways in which Halifax Transit works (or doesn’t), I nearly pulled a jerk customer move, arriving about 30 minutes before they were set to close. Nonetheless, the two ladies working the counter and kitchen were all smiles and really friendly. While their menu is pretty compact, it isn’t literally *just* spring rolls. There’s about six options, including curries, pad Thai, stir fries and of course the namesake spring rolls. I went with the pad Thai, meat spring roll and a drink, which all came to a very reasonable $9.50. Asked if I wanted it spicy, I gave them a confident ‘Yes!’ and expected a good seasoning of the sriracha bottles on the back counter. I sat down at one of their handful of tables, and in a matter of minutes my heaping plate of noodles and deliciousness were brought out to me. This generous portion of pad Thai had strips of tofu, bits of egg, cabbage and peanuts. I was glad to see that it was garnished with a sprig of cilantro on top so that I could choose how much I put in the dish, but was a little disappointed that there were no bean sprouts. I love those things! The noodles had a really good consistency; not too firm, and not cooked to mush. Also, I hate it when pad Thais are a mass of congealed noodles or the noodles are cut too short and are hard to manage. There was a good sized red halo of sriracha squirted on top which gave a respectable garlicky spice to the dish, but you could still taste that hint of sweetness from the regular pad Thai sauce. The tofu was tender and not at all rubbery and absorbed all the flavours of the dish quite nicely. My spring roll was a lovely golden brown and noticeably had some weight to it when I picked it up. The wrapper was nice and crisp, while the filling was packed with juicy pork and cabbage, and a couple other julienned veggies. My mind wasn’t blown, but it was a solid spring roll. I’ve always been impressed that Just Spring Roll has been able to stay open in a less than spectacular location, but they may be killing it with the lunch crowds that I never get to see. If you’re coming to an early show movie, I definitely suggest stopping by. You’ll get a filling, satisfying meal for half the price of a popcorn and pop. Or just stop by if you’re in the neighborhood. Or just go there. Just go there.

FIX & REPEAT Menu with Prices 555 NW Arizona Ave suite 50, Bend

I had meant to go to another vegan place but somehow ended up going here. Glad I did! I had the BEST orange juice ever. It tasted so refreshing, sweet and just as an orange juice should taste. I also loved and enjoyed their quinoa with coconut milk and cinnamon and bananas and blueberries. The best tasting quinoa dish ever. I actually came back a few hours later to get one of the green juices and it too was wonderfully, delightfully delicious and refreshing. It has just the right amount of spicy kick to it, subtle but still there. I felt so comfortable there, the ambience of the café is uplifting, it is bright and airy, modern and so chill. The staff are very friendly and eager to help you. I would go there everyday just to taste all the items on the menu! The best vegan/juice café I have been to. The long travel to Bend just for the fresh organic taste is worth it.

California Tofu Grill – Menu with Prices – 1993 W Malvern Ave, Fullerton

I didn’t go to this place for a while because I thought it was like a vegan/vegetarian restaurant, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it’s Korean food. I love tofu soup, I mean who doesn’t? For the most part tofu soup is pretty similar wherever you go so you can really differentiate which places are better by 2 things: side dishes and broth flavor. FOOD: 5/5 So the food here is standard. Lets start with the side dishes. The banchan here is good, they have good kimchi and they also give you a little salad. My favorite banchan was thechive pancake and the stir fried green beans. The pancake was warm and crispy so you know it’s fresh and the green beans were nice and crunchy. Also the little fish that comes with the soup was also freshly cooked. Crispy and hot when we received it. Now onto the main. I always get the oyster tofu soup, my brother got the bibimbap combo with cheese and ham tofu soup, while my sister got the beef patty combo with seafood tofu soup. As always, it was delicious. Extremely hot and bubbly, perfect amount of seasoning. The seafood really gives the broth a deep flavor. The ham and cheese was good as well, similar to army stew. The bibimbap was sizzling and stayed hot throughout the entire meal. The beef patties were really good as well. The server cuts it up for you so that’s nice. Sweet and salty served on a sizzling pan of onions so the grease gets soaked up. Everything was delicious. SERVICE: 4.5/5 The service here is better than some other Korean restaurants . The ladies were very sweet and they were constantly working. They seat everyone and bus their own tables so even though there were moments when I needed a water refill it was understandable. Overall this is a great tofu place, even if you’re not a fan of tofu soup there are plenty of other options. Great side dishes and entrees so I have no complaints.
