We have been here several times this year, and the food and service has been excellent. The parking is tough at times, this tiny plaza is busy. The décor is looking like a portside/beachside place, a lot of fish on the walls also a steering wheel from a ship. There are fourteen tables, no booths. Restrooms have been clean, there is also soap and paper towels. We like the chips and salsa, the salsa with a slight orange tint is very seriously perhaps overwhelmingly hot. Did I mention the salsa is hot? Their version of empanadas are different, I like them better at another place. This place covers the fried empanada with some mayo. lettuce, chopped tomatoes and sliced avocados. Also it is served with a green sauce, I would prefer some mayo. The fried fish is very good, as are the shrimp cocktails. There are two sizes of cocktails, and they are not stingy with the shrimp. Garlic shrimp are superb. We have not had anything at this place that was not very good. Service has been outstanding, so good that we have been motivated to tip 20 to 25 percent.

Mariscos Las Cazuelitas Menu with Prices 8117 Fillmore Ave #8101, Bakersfield

I’m a huge seafood fan. My momma is from Nayarit so we grew up putting shrimp on everything, making homemade ceviche and cocktails and not to mention eating oysters as kid (with lots of lemon and hot sauce). So I am a huge fan of marisco spots. Especialista those who rep Nayarit! I usually go to Las Islitas or La Costa but my besty suggested this place. We showed up around 7:30 a Thursday night and the place was pretty empty. It’s located on Oak St, south of La Mina. The place looks a bit run down so don’t expect it to be as “upscaled” as La Costs or Las Islitas. They sat is near the bar which has a flat screen so it’s convenient if you like sports. The special for the night was the tostada Chaka, it includes ceviche shrimp, boiled shrimp, octopus, tomatoes, onions, cucumber and their homemade salsa on it. My friend ordered it. I decided on the shrimp empanadas and I Also ordered a shrimp empanada prepared. The difference between them is the prepared one includes cabbage, tomatoes, onions, and cucumbers. I usually eat them plain with sauce but I figured I’d try one prepared. The order came out freshly fried. BOMB! I definitely enjoyed the prepared one more and wouldn’t order them plain ever again here. They have a Chipotle mayo type of sauce for the empanadas which was delicious! I ordered a margarita and it was delicious! My besty ordered a michelada and she enjoyed it as well. So the food gets 4 stars for sure! But the service…mmm they can work on that for sure. Like I mentioned, the place was empty and yet they didn’t come check on us once. I wanted a water and never got a chance to order one until we had finished our dinner, when they dropped off the bill and picked up our empty plates. Although they are friendly I just wish they were more attentive. It’s definitely a place I’d come again for the empanadas though, maybe to go though.

Paradise Food & Bar – Menu with Prices – 12485 S Orange Blossom Trail, Orlando

The name bakery is misleading because this is a wonderful cafe. They have a great assortment of bakery items, empanadas, ice cream, wraps and salads. A very nice assortment of beverages besides coffee, juices, beer, wine and cocktails. The decor theme is garden but in very clean and comfortable way. I stepped to the counter and ordered a quinoa salad and I tried one of the chicken empanadas. I chose to add chicken to the quinoa salad. This was a super salad. A large very tasty salad which could make two meals for me. I liked that the salad was mixed in a bowl instead of just quinoa placed on a bed of lettuce. It had tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, quinoa, lettuce spring mix, and nuts in a house made salad dressing which had a hint of ginger. The chicken was a generous serving and I really loved this salad. I definitely would order this again. I also ordered a chicken empanada. I actually prefer the smaller ones that are not a bunch of fried dough. This one was just the right size and I enjoyed the chicken filling. They have sandwiches and wraps available in the case and ready to go. They seem to come with a sprinkling of chips. They had a chicken parmigiana which I want to try next time. They plan to offer a happy hour. Right now they are in their soft opening. The only thing I did not enjoy was that my quinoa salad came with a plastic spork. It is a personal preference and with the small quinoa and larger pieces of chicken I am not sure which utensil is appropriate. Paradise Bakery is a great addition to the neighborhood

Draughtsmen Aleworks at Mosaic Locale – Menu with Prices – 1131 State St, Santa Barbara

When I heard that Mosaic Locale serves empanadas, I had to give it a try. Located on State Street, public parking is a short walk, so it is not a challenge to visit. Not only does Mosaic serve excellent empanadas, it serves Draughtman Aleworks pours and I have been told, amazing donuts. Yes, it is an interesting combination. When you think about it, an empanada washed down by a brew, with a donut for dessert works. I had an traditional Argentine beef empanada filled with a picadillo ground beef mixture and served with chimichurri. They bake their empanadas, which I prefer over frying. The empanada dough and chimichurri were exceptional, which I almost never find in the case of empananda dough. The filling, although good, was not quite as good as I would have liked. I not an Argentine beef empanada snob, I might have thought it perfect. Rather than reduce an otherwise 5 star rating, I have chosen to assign it. I am sure the other empanadas were exceptional and I will be back to try more with another filling.

Mariscos Los Corales – Menu with Prices – 2, 223 1/2 Sycamore St, Santa Ana

My top spot for all things shrimp among the many great taco trucks in Santa Ana – the mecca of Mexican food in Orange County. After trying two of their signature tacos, I would easily put the Taco Al Governador (Shrimp and Cheese) on my short list of best shrimp tacos in town. The Taco Al Governador ($3) is served with warm, melted cheese layered on plump, juicy shrimp and grilled inside handmade tortillas that are pan-fried, then flatten in shape much like a quesadilla – accompanied with a spicy salsa verde with shredded cabbage and diced tomatoes on the side. Simple, delicious, perfect! The Taco de Marlin ($3), also served with melted cheese and prepared in the same fashion as the al governador. In my opinion, it is much better than the famed marlin taco served at Mariscos Mocorito in Orange. Just cooked, seasoned fish and warm, melted cheese on a soft, pan-fried, handmade tortilla – nothing else. Its combination of simplicity, textures and flavors cannot be beat. Taco Los Corales ($3), the Baja style fish taco. Fried battered fish on a soft tortilla shell, topped with shredded cabbage, tomatoes, light crema. Good but the batter mix was not as flaky nor was the fish as fresh as I would have hoped. The shrimp is clearly the best option. Taco Durango de Camaron ($3), if you like your taco on a deep fried, hard corn tortilla shell, this is the option for you. Seasoned, mashed shrimp inside a hard shell, topped with shredded cabbage, diced tomatoes and a light swirl of crema. Simple, crunchy goodness. Tostada Camaron Cocido y Pulpo ($7), loads of freshly cooked shrimp and sliced octopus on two pieces of hard shelled, corn tortillas. Topped with diced tomatoes, cucumbers and onions. I loved to plump, surprising freshness of the two main ingredients and the portions. Usually a good option to test how fresh the seafood is. Nice and hearty here, worth the $7. Empanada ($2.50) Mashed shrimp filled inside a golden, crisp breaded shell. Served with a side of tartar sauce. Delicious! Shrimp is definitely their specialty but Los Corales also has a full-scale menu found at most sit-down mariscos restaurants, including fresh oysters, ceviche, ensaladas (salads), empanadas, shrimp cocktails, tostadas, tacos and Cajun style spicy shrimp bolsas (bag of cooked shrimp, corn and potato) ranging from mild to very spicy. They even serve beer and appear to make a mean Michelada. They offer chicken nuggets and fries, the usual non-seafood option found at many Mariscos location. NOTE: great service too?!?! Yelper Julie A. must have a thing for impatient, stoic looking food Nazis like the guy that always seem to handle the orders and the money. Be prepared to know what you want to order, expect an attitude and ask little questions. Nonetheless, some of the best shrimp tacos in town. The Taco Al Governador is a must-try! Closes at 7pm. CASH ONLY.

El Dorado Authentic Mexican Food – Menu with Prices – 311 Palomar St, Chula Vista

El Dorado is one of my favorites out of the many excellent under-the-radar Chula Vista Mexican restaurants that need to be getting more love than they do. They serve a fantastic “Shrimp Taco” owing mainly to their sizable shrimp, sweet and clean, battered and deep-fried until crispy. Slaw and white sauce on top are on-point and applied in reasonable ratios, and the red sauce from the salsa bar is pure fire and must be added. The “Fish Taco” is the same thing, but with fish instead of shrimp. It’s a decent fish taco, but it doesn’t work as well as the shrimp does. What you must really get here, however, are the “Camarónes a la Diabla,” a dish consisting of taut prawns in a spicy, rich, and garlicky sauce of roasted tomatoes and chipotle peppers. In San Diego, I have never eaten a superior version of this coastal classic than what is served at El Dorado with rice, refried beans, and fresh avocado to take off some of the fiery bite. I want you to love this place, so I must manage expectations appropriately: El Dorado is a low-key and quiet “mom ‘n pop” restaurant in a small strip mall, probably more ideal for lunch than dinner. Food/Décor/Service: 4.5/2.9/NA #SummerOfTastyTacos – Taco Tracker: https://bit.ly/2IHTmfY Taco Score: Shrimp Taco (92/100), Fish Taco (80/100) What to Order: Camarónes a la Diabla, Shrimp Taco

Goalkeeper Restaurant Bar – Menu with Prices – 5963 El Cajon Blvd, San Diego

This is a cool little neighborhood spot that specializes in making unique tube steak variations names after famous soccer players. I did not get very creative with my order but creative enough for me with the Reynaldo which was essentially a bacon wrapped Nathan’s hot dog, but a much thicker version you can buy at the super market for $6.50. The hot dog came with shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, and with a light drizzle of a more aqueous mayo. I also asked for the gent to put some of their house secret sauce which came drizzled in the same manner and consistency as the light mayo. Altogether the the Reynaldo tasted fantastic. The Nathan’s dog was cooked on a griddle which gave it a nice crisp exterior and tender juicy inside. As an all beef tube steak, it offered great flavor with every bite. The lettuce and tomatoes were chopped to easy bite size pieces which made for ease of eating. The bacon was outstanding in flavor and crispiness. I would however recommend that they find a better way wrap it around the dog because it easy fell off or was already mostly off the hot dog. I was very happy that I asked for the addition of the secret sauce because it was great and went very well with the Reynaldo. The bun was typical but very moist, soft, and flavorful. They offer very well priced beers and of course televisions for those Latin American & North American “football” games. All the tables and most of the other furniture was made by the owner Joshua who is a swell guy and is ready to make you a terrific hot dog on a bun with something a little extra!

Loyal Q and Brew Menu with Prices 3655 Old Milton Pkwy, Alpharetta

I am posting this review in regards to what I received when I ordered from GrubHub today. Now I have eaten at LoyalQ AND I had just eaten lunch there less than a week before placing my GrubHub order – so I know what I SHOULD have received instead of what I actually DID receive. #1. It was clearly stated that I ordered the SuperFoods Bowl: SUPERFOODS BOWL ALL THE GOOD STUFF IN ONE BOWL! KALE AND SPINACH ARE MIXED WITH QUINOA, CHERRY TOMATOES, CHOPPED WALNUTS, FRESH BLUEBERRIES, DRIED CRANBERRIES, GARBANZO BEANS, SHREDDED CARROTS AND SLICED AVOCADOS. ALL TOSSED IN A MAPLE VINAIGRETTE. $12.95 #2. I did NOT receive the Superfoods Bowl. What I Actuall received was a poor rendition of the Q chopped salad that someone threw a few sprinkles of quinoa in: THE Q CHOPPED SALAD CHOPPED ROMAINE TOSSED WITH GRILLED CORN, GREEN ONION, BLACK BEANS, CHOPPED EGG, CHERRY TOMATOES & TOSSED IN CILANTRO-LIME DRESSING $9.95 Except I didn’t EVEN receive the chopped salad. It had no egg and no dressing. It wasn’t even a $9.95 salad. I paid $10 for a bowl of romaine with a few things thrown in. So basically I feel I was ripped off because there would be no accountability since it was a GrubHub order, so let’s see how much we can cheese out and hope the unsuspecting fool that placed the order doesn’t notice. Very disappointed and not sure I will patronize either LoyalQ or GrubHub again in light of the scam that seems to have happened here.

Empanada Llama – Menu with Prices – 9965 San Jose Blvd suit 39, Jacksonville

Have you ever walked into a restaurant/establishment and felt like you’re home? Empanada Llama has the homey feeling I’ve been craving and to be fair, I was also craving an empanada, so two birds, one stone. I had a bit of a hard time finding this little gem. Why? Because I have worst sense of direction and I also rely far too heavily on my GPS. I walked in and this little place was packed to the gils. Decor is clean, bright, and colorful. I looked over the menu and opted to order an original beef empanada, side of golf sauce (if you know me, you know that I’m not a mayo fan, at all, but I wanted to try it because I am a ketchup fan), and a diet Coke. The girl at the counter was SUPER friendly and just pleasant. Customer service tip number one, greet us with a smile, and she did that. I took a seat at the counter, because there were no seats left. A few minutes later my empanada came out. It was presented on a little wooden cutting board. So cute. Despite the cutting board being cute, the real test of a great empanada is the taste. One bite and this empanada had me in seventh heaven. The one word that comes to mind: BEYOND. Perfectly seasoned beef, wrapped up in flakey pastry dough, and then dipped in a sauce that made me think what I was thinking all these years of stating my dislike for all things mayo. I tried to savor each bite. Each piece was better than the next. Then in a matter of minutes the empanada was gone because it was in my belly. I was sad and happy all at the same time. Pros: -Great customer service -Empanada was AMAZING -Golf sauce, even if you don’t like mayo, I’m telling you, try it. -Corn nuts (they give you a little cup while you’re waiting). Who knew these were so delicious -You can tell Empanada Llama love what they do and it shows in their empanadas. Cons: -My lack of direction Tips: Their sign is pretty small, so you can easily miss it.

Splash Fish Market – Menu with Prices – 676 Mt Prospect Ave, Newark

I heard about this restaurant thru a friend who tried it herself . All I can say is that since I’ve tried the food , My husband and I have eaten from there consistently at least once a week . The fish soup is simply delicious , there is no fancy garnish to the soup – it’s given to you with a lime wedge and hot sauce (that’s all you need) , you can add a side of tostenes (fried plantain ) for $1 . I’ve tried the fish soup and shrimp soup , along with the shrimp empanadas or crab empanadas . All items have been equally delicious . There might be sometimes someone outside asking for money – don’t let it deter you on a quest for delicious soup! They are normally busy , so when you walk in you may or may not get acknowledged right away but just wait for a few minutes and they’ll notice you and take your order. They are a cash only place!

Mariscos El Cachanilla – Menu with Prices – 4127 West Ln, Stockton

It’s hard finding good Mariscos in Stockton. After hearing good things about the food decided to give this place a try. Food: I ordered an empanada with pulpo and shrimp, and a tostada with shrimp ceviche. My mom ordered an empanada with shrimp and a small shrimp coctel. They don’t skimp on any shrimp or octopus so that’s good, but they can step it up with the flavor. Empanadas are crisp and flaky, served hot. When we asked if the empanadas are one single or several, and if it’s large the lady just pointed to the picture. Ok that tells us everything. So if you order it is a very large empanada closer to the size of a small calzone. It’s served with a salad and rice. The rice isn’t worth the calories as it tastes like nothing. Service: Terrible service. The ladies at the front let us wait until they could be bothered to take our orders. No greetings, no eye contact, and she couldn’t even answer simple questions about the food. I didn’t even know if she was ready to take my order as she acted like she was doing something avoiding eye contact at all costs. Being the first time I’ve ever gone I had a few questions as I didnt want to over order. Ordering in Spanish didn’t help get any more answers, so may as well not even ask. The only decent service was the cook/bus man who helped clean the tables. He brought the rest of our food to our tables and was kind. Dunno what crawled up the lady’s butt, but she shouldn’t be working in service if she’s that unfriendly. Maybe the only way to order is take the food to go, because it’s sh!t service when it’s empty, couldn’t imagine how much worse it can get. I’ll still be looking for good Mariscos in Stockton .

Hunting Island Fish Market Menu with Prices 2664 Barton Chapel Rd, Augusta

This restaurant seems to be a local favorite in the area. The cuisine is a mixture of Asian/Chinese food with southern fried seafood. Apparently this is a major concept in the Augusta area for fish markets and Chinese/Korean restaurants. Nonetheless, the food is good. I have dined here several times. You can call in and place an order or place one in person. It also offers fish, uncooked seafood for sale as well. The fried rice is good and a fan favorite. The egg rolls I ordered was made fresh with nice crisp cabbage. The fried fish is ok. The steamed shrimp is great to order especially the spicy steamed shrimp. The fried shrimp is good. Preferably I prefer the steamed seafood than the fried because of the seasoning. I really cannot rate the customer service because I normally try to get my order and get out. Good decent takeout food to grab.

The Seafood Company – Menu with Prices – 4775 E Kings Canyon Rd, Fresno

We found out about this place because they are on the news and we decided to drive from out of town to try. The food looked good and We like to try new places. The reviews on here are really really good. So maybe we were expecting some out of this world seafood. We got a little of everything We ordered shrimp tacos, they were out of the crab tostada so we got the ceviche tostada ,fried shrimp, fish and chips, a carne asada burrito and a burger with Fries ….I never had shrimp tacos quite like these. The shrimp was fried and chopped up into small tiny pieces on two tortillas it came with pico on the side and that’s it! Very plain in my opinion could have used some cabbage some sauce or salsa and a piece of lemon. The shrimp ceviche was ok. The burger was big and came with good fries my son ate it all. The fish has a good spicy taste but had some bones still In it. My mom ordered 1/2 pound of fried shrimp she had a choice from the small medium or large. She went with the medium, but the shrimp was pretty small came with veins but we didn’t care we still ate it lol. None of the seafood came out with lemon so maybe you have to ask for it. The carne asada burrito was ok. We all agreed the best thing we liked was that it was inexpensive. We left pretty happy about that! Overall we enjoyed a inexpensive meal. They also have a fish market counter and a very nice young lady attending the counter.
