I stopped by to order take out. The restaurant wasnâ??t full, but I noticed there were many tables waiting for food. It took them about 5 min to take my order. I ordered a pad see ewe noodle, and triple S roll. I literally waited 25 min for my order. . . The food was good, but the noodles were over sauced and too salty, and the sushi was not packaged securely for take out and made a terrible mess. It was a warm sushi, so it didnâ??t hold together particularly well.. . Iâ??d be willing to try more dishes from this place again, as it seemed pretty authentic. They just need a little work in the service time, saltiness level, and take out packaging. . . It was obviously a very popular place as it was late and there were still a lot of people. So Iâ??d give it a try if you havenâ??t. But give yourself a lot of time for dinner.

Wei Dao Asian Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 5024 W Esplanade Ave, Metairie

I love this restaurant, I almost don’t want to write a review because I want to keep this little secret restaurant all to myself! Chinese food is abysmal in New Orleans, but thank goodness there’s Wei Dao to save the day! This restaurant serves true authentic Chinese food…you just gotta ask for the authentic Chinese menu. I know it looks a little questionable because they also serve ramen and sushi, but their sushi rolls aren’t half bad! But if I’m going to Wei Dao, it’s 100% for the Chinese food. It’s much better than Little Chinatown or any other chinese restaurants in LA. First off, the service is fantastic. The waitresses are so friendly and are more than willing to help and recommend dishes. I’m not Chinese, so I instead read the English version of the authentic Chinese menu. There are so many options, and everything I’ve had has been so delicious. Not too salty, not too sweet – most dishes are perfectly balanced. I would recommend any of their fish fillet dishes. I personally like the spicy fish fillet and the black bean fish fillet dishes. The fish is succulent, not overcooked, and seasoned lightly as to not overpower the delicacy of the white fish. In addition, the mapo tofu is very good. I usually never order this dish, but my friend loves it and I have come to as well. The tofu is soft but doesn’t break apart into mushy pieces, there are chunks of pork in the sauce, and the flavoring is sweet/sour with a bit of spiciness from the peppercorns. Also a must order. Any of the vegetable dishes seasoned with salty fish are also good choices. Honestly, it’s really hard to go wrong with the authentic Chinese menu! My friend and I love Wei Dao, and we are always looking for an excuse to come back and try new dishes.

Kura Revolving Sushi Bar – Menu with Prices – 9292 Warren Pkwy Suite 320, Frisco

OK sushi, but really fun concept that I wish they would have more of in other large cities. Basically, the gimmick at Kura Revolving Sushi Bar is in the title, the revolving sushi bar or conveyor belt. Customers sit down at their tables and can either order dishes made by the sushi chefs and have it sent to them via the revolving sushi bar or they can pluck items from it that have been rotating around the entire restaurant. If it’s your first time here, you’ll have tons of fun, maybe even a little too much fun to the point you’ve overspent. We came here with my family on a Saturday evening at 7:30pm and there was only a short wait. Once we got seated, we went straight to work and started taking different sushi dishes off of the conveyor belt. I have to admit, it was a lot of fun just taking dishes off of the revolving bar and not having to order/wait for our food. And you might ask, so how do you pay for the dishes that were taken from the revolving bar? Simple, there’s a small opening at the edge of every table that can fit a small plate. After customers are done with the plates, they slide it into the opening and it’ll count towards their total number of plates eaten. For items that were specially ordered, those will automatically be tallied because the system knows you ordered it. As for the food, the sushi was OK. There was a good variety – salmon, tuna, eel, beef, tamago, etc – but there’s only 2 pieces of sushi on every plate and the rice could have been a little fresher. For our 1st time here, it was a fun experience and something different than the usual order and wait for your food. Would we try it again? Definitely. It wasn’t bad at all.

Sushi Madre Del Mar – Menu with Prices – 3402 E Del Mar Blvd Suite 300, Laredo

I’ve been a sushi madre customer since their first location on Saunders. The service remains high in quality and the dishes remain progressive and reliable. Though I’m not a fan of raw seafood, sushi madre caters to people like me perfectly! The avocado salad, poblano soup, and fresh rolls always hit the spot. I would recommend the Laredo, Hurtado, and La Loca roll. If you’re trying to get the most authentic sushi experience, you may be mislead by coming here. But if you want an experience of sushi that is creative and has a twist on the traditional, this is the place. Also, clean eating is made very easy here with their fresh salads and teppanyaki plates.

La Isla Yokomo – Menu with Prices – 2435 S Grove Ave, Ontario

I wanted to give this location a try since I had heard it was a must go to place. First off, I was skeptical about a sushi / mariscos place. That already sounded like a bad idea. Both cultures have their own beauty in terms of cuisine. Hence I felt that together they would sell the other short and in fact they did. The sushi was not at all authentic sushi. The rice was improperly made according to Japanese traditions. There was absolutely no fresh sushi only baked. They did not offer ginger nor wasabi what so ever. The mariscos aspect was not up to par. The previous night I had ate at Mar y Tiera nearby and by far their place could not measure up. Their micheladas are not the best either. All in all if you love sushi cuisine and all it’s delicate flavors, this is no place for you.

Wung Thai Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 5545 Roosevelt Blvd, Clearwater

We were stunned by the quality of this place. Since we like both sushi and Thai food it was hard to choose, so we had both. We started with sushi, which was amazing! Artistic presentation. Fresh as it can possibly be, authentic and yummy!! Our next course were Thai dishes. Equally delicious in its own rights. Everything is made from scratch, and absolutely fresh. You can certainly taste it! We requested extra spicy and we got that! The service is excellent. Apparently for lunch this place is packed, so we came for dinner and were able to choose our table. This restaurant serves amazing food at very modest prices, and with such friendly service, I highly recommend it. We will certainly return!

Penang Town Malaysian Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 649 Newtown Rd Suite 109, Virginia Beach

Va Beach is growing up ! We’re getting a level of diversity, i have to say I was starting to believe would never happen. I’ve eaten all over the world and I’m cursed with memories of amazing food i can’t get here and it drives me nuts! But Penang Town is yet another step in the right direction! Real authentic Malaysian food right around the corner from my house! That’s what I’m talkin about right there…logistics: Parking is plentiful (restaurant is in a strip mall) Atmosphere is clean casual with dine in and take out options. Prices are comparable to expensive Chinese take out. But the quality exceeds run of the mill takeout by FAR. I chose dishes I’ve eaten in Malaysia, and something new to me to get a good idea of what they’re doing I’ve there and I was thoroughly pleased with all of it. First and foremost everything has solid flavors; some memorable some new, spice level was authentic (so much so i had to order mine a little more tame than the standard heat level cuz I’m a spice lightweight lol…we ordered take out this day and even getting the food home and unpacked it was just as good as if we had dined in. The portions are good, as this was he first place in a LONG time that provided enough food for me to have leftovers! All in all Penang has now become a go to and i will be eating my way though this menu all summer.

Imperial Sushi Davie – Menu with Prices – 8570 Stirling Rd #101, Hollywood

Imperial Sushi is a welcome addition to up and coming sushi restaurants in South Broward area. Their menu stands out and includes raw bar with lobster, fresh oysters and shrimp cocktail, dim sum dishes, Asian kitchen dishes and fresh sushi. They have something for everyone besides sushi aficionados. I think they should be a 4 or 5 star restaurant but I personally have had a mixed experience over numerous visits since last year. I believe they opened this restaurant late last year. The decor is trendy and a nice place for dinner date or family dinner. Eating out frequently with small children is difficult at times and we often order takeout. About 2 months ago, we placed an order online through Yelp and received order confirmation through Yelp. About 20 minutes later, I call to ask if they have the order and to get estimate of when to arrive. The lady who answered the phone said they did not have the order. I asked her to check but she said there was no order and did not try to help. I asked if I should cancel order with Yelp since I would be charged for order and she said Yes, you should cancel order. At that point, I was already outside of the location and went inside to check. The hostess checked and said yes they had the order but they made me wait another 30 minutes. This was a weekday and they did not many patrons dining at the time. For kitchen dishes ($15 to $30), the prices are a bit high but portions are quite large and shareable. Skirt steak served with lots of veggies was enough for 2 people but did not taste like skirt steak but ae enjoyed. Pad thai was ok and a huge portion. Seafood Ramen was a bit bland. Sashimi Salad was huge and with quality ingredients. We have enjoyed crispy rice, yellow tail tacos, imperial roll, sexy roll, salmon volcano and Miami heat roll. Kids meals are $10 and have good options and bring large portions.

Akasaka Sushi – Menu with Prices – 6196 S Highland Dr, Salt Lake City

As with any of my other reviews, I am by no means a food “expert.” At the end of the day, like you, I just really enjoy eating out at tasty restaurants. That being said, this review is coming from a perspective of someone who frequently dines in at this location. Every time I come to this restaurant I always go for their All-You-Can-Eat option which is around 25 bucks. This includes appetizers (gyoza, miso soup, tempura), main courses (rice bowls and the like), and most importantly – their specialty rolls. The reason why I enjoy coming here so much are for 2 reasons. 1) The food: The sushi here is pretty darn good. Now the sushi I’m referring to, I’m aware isn’t “authentic” sushi, but the roll variety. I’ll break down the consistencies that win points with me. – The rice is never mushy nor is it too dry. Perfect for the rolls. – The rolls always hold their form. I never have a difficult time picking up individual pieces. – The fish itself is good. There’s no distinct bad odor, and the freshness level is above average for most sushi places. – The chef makes use of a wide variety of ingredients which is probably why the special sushi roll menu is so vast. – Fried rolls always have a good layer of crisp and although there’s a bit more rice than I would like, they’re still delectable. Also, the appetizers and main courses are pretty good as well. If I had to pick, I would probably order the gyoza and mixed tempura for appetizers and just stick to specialty rolls for the main event. 2) The atmosphere/workers: I’m 100% sure that Akasaka sushi is a Ma and Pa locally owned sushi restaurant and it truly feels that way. I’ve been here enough that the folks at the restaurant recognize me and I’m always greeted with not only a smile, but an overall exuberant energy that seems to reliably elevate my mood. The main guy who makes the sushi rolls is charismatic and charming and I’m pretty sure if you asked, would be willing to customize orders just for you. My only “complaint” would be that the serving staff can be a bit short but I think it’s because they really only have family run the establishment. Service can be a tiny bit slow when it’s busy because of this, but if you’ve got the time, they’ve got the kindness to spare so try to overlook it. Overall, I personally really enjoy akasaka sushi. Maybe I’m biased and I’ve got a bit of a weakness for sweet folks. However, don’t let that fool you. The food is reliably delicious. If you’ve got to get your sushi roll fix, make sure you stop in here.

Miso Sushi Menu with Prices 8019 Menaul Blvd NE Suite A, Albuquerque

4.75 STARS. As a sushi snob originally from California but living in ABQ 30+ years, I keep hoping for amazingly excellent sushi and Miso Sushi comes very, very, very close! The QUALITY of fish was amazing. Buttery, silky, smooth. Not a sinew anywhere. The absolutely superb quality of the fish will have me coming back repeatedly. The sushi rolls were artistically prepared when called for (i.e. rainbow roll). The plating design perfectly captured a sense of simple beauty. Even the wasabi was plated in a delicate swirl rather than the usual lump. The complements to the dish were excellent. The ice tea is a fragrant white tea and clearly fresh-brewed. No Lipton here. The broth of the miso soup was the best I’ve ever had–not overly salty and just a touch sweet. The salad blossomed with fresh, crisp, cold greens and a delightful miso/salty/sweet/vinegary dressing. My qualms (if you can even call them that) are minor. The fish on the nigiri was not quite as cold as I prefer. The sushi rice isn’t as “sticky” as it needs to be and tends to fall apart a bit too easily. When you try to dunk nigiri in soy sauce the Japanese way (fish down), the piece doesn’t hold together as well as it could. If you dunk “American” style (rice down), you can lose a chunk of the rice. (And for super-nitpicky stuff: They don’t have low-sodium soy sauce and the only artificial sweetener is saccharin.) The menu has many non-sushi items (tempura, soba, teriyaki) so you can bring your non-sushi friends. If you know sushi restaurants, you know that nigiri in combo dishes is always “chef’s choice” but the menu probably should mention that for newcomers. Service was friendly and attentive, but to be fair, Monday at lunch we were the only customers. (Waitstaff and busstaff were all fluent in English, in case that matters to you.) Decor is simple and immaculately clean. Calm music. As we were alone, I can’t comment on noise level. Two people, two rolls, 5 pieces of nigiri, 1 ice tea: total less than $40 including tip. For sushi with fish this good: bargain! I will absolutely be back and think ABQ sushi fans should try it!

Sakura Japanese Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 1437 Sam’s Dr, Chesapeake

This place has the lunch buffet. Just make sure you eat what you order or you’ll pay a percentage of what you waste since sushi is made to order. Very sizeable for a sushi place and super clean. Waitstaff is fast and friendly. Sushi was good, but not superb. I’ve had better sweet potato rolls and volcano rolls elsewhere. Still good though. But they have a decent Thai ice tea served in a big mason jar. Overall you do get more bang for your buck here. Our bill was about $53. Nice spot, will come back again especially since my son apparently has a tape worm to feed now. He even ate some of his mom’s sushi too. I told her to finish her sushi or else she has to go back there and wash some dishes or pay extra for wasting. But our teen son is like a garbage disposal now. So I advise you to take your teenage boys with you so they can finish all the sushi no one else can eat.

Piranha Killer Ramen Menu with Prices 309 Curtis Mathes Way #149, Arlington

I went a different route today & instead of getting ramen I got sushi. Their sushi selection isn’t very large and the quantity you get isn’t normally the portion you’d get at normal sushi restaurants. Their rolls are more on the smaller end, maybe an inch at most thick. It’s really not a lot and you’d have to order 2-4 rolls to really get full depending on your stomach. The quality was like buffet sushi. I honestly wouldn’t recommend gong the sushi route. Along with sushi, we also ordered the Uni Pasta and that was actually pretty good. The amount you get wasn’t worth the price point. Although it was a little fishy, it was minor enough to overlook. Service today was a little iffy. Granted it’s a Sunday night during dinner rush hour. It took longer than expected for our food to come out and it seemed like some of it was forgotten. Overall, if this was my first time and I had went the sushi route, I wouldn’t have came back. I don’t recommend the sushi and for someone who doesn’t like ramen and loves sushi – GO WITH RAMEN !!!

Sushi Miyazawa – Menu with Prices – 372 Chandler St, Worcester

This place is amazing. It truly is the most authentic sushi restaurant I have been to in New England. To begin, it is located in a nice brick building with parking so you don’t need to search or pay for street parking. The hostess/waitress is very friendly and nice. I appreciate that there is a sign in wait list and you can sit in the indoor tables outside while contemplating what you want to order. This place is also BYOB so remember to bring a nice authentic bottle or cup of Sake or a Asahi beer to pair with the sushi to get the most out of your experience. I ordered the nigiri omakase. It was very good. I was very impressed with the quality and the freshness of the fish. Not only the the sushi chef meticulously craft each delicate piece, he made it into a work of art. The sushi chefs were very nice and authentically Japanese. 5/5 stars in my opinion. You know that it’s an awesome restaurant when you see a waitlist when you walk in the door! I will be coming back very soon! To sum it all up, this place does amazing work. I’ve traveled the world, lived in Japan, NYC, LA and even Boston; I have to say that the quality and taste of this sushi can rival that of a competitive restaurant in Japan and New York. I am also one of the harshest and dreadfully honest critics on Yelp. This establishment has my stamp of approval. P.S.- this is addressing the comment where the sushi chefs do not wear food gloves; ONLY TRUE SUSHI CHEFS DO NOT WEAR FOOD GLOVES! Below is an excerpt from the Guardian: “Sushi is traditionally prepared with bare hands, and good chefs rely on tactile sensation to gauge the quality of the meat – the freshness, the fattiness, the oil content – that they’re cutting and molding into just the right bites” Reference: https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2015/nov/12/why-i-want-my-sushi-prepared-with-bare-hands I, myself, would walk out of a sushi restaurant if the sushi chef wore gloves. It detracts from the connection the chef has with the food he is preparing. It allows him to better understand the quality and texture of the ingredients he is working with- Per the article I cited above. Watch the “Jiro Dreams of Sushi” documentary for your own further edification so that you do not sound foolish making ignorant and silly comments.
