This joint is only three blocks from where I work and I just now discovered it for the first time! The adorable cafe is in the Lincoln Tower building just off the main entrance. It is small, but quaint and boasts awesome character like the rest of the building. The most fantastic thing about it is the two ladies who run it. They are friendly, upbeat and offer a great laugh. You can definitely tell this place has history in their family and is near and dear to their hearts! I stopped in over the lunch hour and they had a line, which I was glad to see. We grabbed a stool at the bar. I ordered homemade chili soup with a hot ham and cheese sandwich. I also grabbed a freshly baked monster cookie for a sweet treat! IMHO the best part is the fountain drinks. They are old school and pump syrup and then mix with soda water. This allows you to create your own flavor. I chose cherry Diet Coke and it was fantastic. Overall a good experience, and I will be returning!

Cookie Munchers – Menu with Prices – 11842 Bruce B Downs Blvd, Tampa

Decided to try this new (to us) sweet treat spot out with my 13 year old as we were looking for something to do to fill sometime this afternoon. It was an instantly fun vibe as we walked through the door as that sweet cookie smell hit us in the face!! Upon my Yelp check-in, I received a coupon for a free cookie with a $5 purchase… Why thank Yelp I’ll definitely use this coupon now!! My kiddo chose the average run-of-the-mill chocolate chip cookie, I chose the double chocolate cookie and we choose an m&m cookie it to share between the two of us. it took a few minutes to get our order but it was definitely worth the wait as they were freshly baked while we sat at our table chatting. Our cookie order came in a small pizza size delivery box and when we opened it, it was like pure heaven! It was definitely worth the wait!! And there was definitely nothing average or run-of-the-mill about these ginormous warm cookie! My intention for the third cookie was to bring it home so my family that didn’t come with us could at least sample it but my thirteen-year-old saw the “cookie challenge” (eat 10 cookies and a pint of milk on 20 minutes, you get your photo on the wall of Cookie Fame) and decided he wanted to see how long it would take him to eat the other cookie. Proof – no cookie to bring home to anybody else. Their loss cuz this place is definitely scrumptious!!!

Ideal Hotdog – Menu with Prices – 1135 W Alexis Rd, Toledo

I’ve eaten at Ideal hundreds of times. I worked down the street at the GM plant for 24 years. Every time I’ve eaten there it was a real treat! At least once a week we would order carry out of a dozen or two dozen chili macs for the crew. George, the owner, was always there overseeing the food preparation. Breakfast is as good as it gets with homemade hash browns from a large pile kept replenished on the grill. Eggs cooked to order and always perfect. The perfect meal after getting off of 3rd shift at 7:30 am before the drive home to sleep. The chili mac is the best ever made, I’ve consumed 100’s of orders. The chili mac has a most unique flavor of any chili mac on the planet. Finely ground perfectly seasoned meat sauce, pinto beans, onions and shredded yellow cheddar cheese makes a memorable meal. The chili dogs are fantastic as everything else served at Ideal Hotdog. Treat yourself and tell George, if he is still around, that Big Ed sent you. You’ll not be disappointed

Moonshine Mountain Cookie Company – Menu with Prices – 7343 Kingston Pike, Knoxville

While not quite hungry for a full dinner, we opted instead for a local dessert place instead. After checking our trusted friend, our TripAdvisor app, we honed in on Moonshine Mountain Cookie and were not disappointed. This small boutique cookie outfitter is clean, well staffed, and oh my goodness good! While set into a local strip mall, the small of the freshly baked cookies as we approached the door making both of our kids non responsive to inputs. The smile broadened as we went in to see the 10 different cookie selections they had. We opted for several different ones to try and then round 2 began. The freshly baked are certainly the best. We washed them down with a glass of fresh milk that was so good, Santa would be jealous. The staff was very helpful in explaining and recommending different cookies. Their berry-flavored cookies taste very strongly berry. Their chocolate cookies should be illegal in some states and probably is in New York – decadent, sweet, and just the right amount of chips. We enjoyed them so much it was an easy sell when our kids asked for some to go for the road ahead. With a box of cookies and some t-shirts, we sadly had to depart, likely 1,000 calories later. It was a perfect treat though and one we highly recommend. Our only gripe was there was only one table and two chairs so it did not make for comfortable seating for the four of us, but the multiple trips to see what cookie would be next helped alleviate it. We recommend adding some space for people to sit and enjoy such delicious cookies.

Debbies Kitchen Menu with Prices 456 Madison Ave, Albany

This place is lit. I remember Debbie’s Kitchen had occupied the same location a couple years ago before it closed. It’s re-opened and seems to be doing well! I can on a Friday afternoon to grab some lunch. I was greeted warmly by Debbie and a young man at the counter. I ordered a sweet potato bisque, the #9 sandwich and a bottle of water. The sandwich had smoked turkey, pears, lettuce, garlic mayo and I think cheddar cheese. It was as good as it was large but I went in on the sandwich. I think the bread was homemade, too. It was sweet and squishy and just melted in your mouth. The soup was also really good, albeit salty. I’d love to see this place to a half sandwich/soup combo deal. I paid $18 after tax, tip and drink. A pretty hefty price tag for lunch but I was starving. The portion was huge and I didn’t finish the sandwich or the soup. Service was great. Debbie was friendly and chatty. We told her we’d just moved in accords the park and she gave us a homemade cranberry nut bar as a welcome gift. I’ll be back for sure.

The Avenue Apartments Huntsville – Menu with Prices – 201 Jefferson St N, Huntsville

A visit to Melt is a treat for both the casual eater and the food fanatic. The myriad ways they are able to present cheese is astounding. From the honey baked goat cheese to the buffalo chicken sandwich, Melt has a dish for any mood and any occasion. I started with the honey baked goat cheese and mac and egg rolls. The sweet tones of the honey and strawberry exquisitely complimented the creaminess of the goat cheese. The egg rolls were cooked to perfect crispness, leading to a wonderful texture of soft interior with a crunchy shell. The chili glaze dipping sauce served with it accented the flavors to give us a wonderful start to our meal. For the main entree, I had the buffalo chicken sandwich with a side of mac and cheese. The Texas toast bread was nicely crisped to give the sandwich some structure, and a nice butteriness. The chicken was well fried, and coated with a nice helping of Monterey Jack cheese. Their homemade ranch doesn’t bring anything new to the table, but it is a tasty dipping sauce with a delicate flavor. The mac and cheese is a very good reason to patronize Melt. With a top layer of melty goodness, this dish will hold your tastebuds full attention from start. I will order this every time I eat here. To top off this wonderful experience, their bar is nothing to complain about. With select craft beers on draft, classic domestic options, and house crafted cocktails, their will be a beverage choice suitable for everyone. I can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone, and I will be back here again very soon.

Le Cafe Creme – Menu with Prices – 350 S Lake Ave # 101, Pasadena

No complaints . I read the reviews and decided to have lunch today on my own for a change . Sam, the owner was there . I couldn’t help think about the review one person wrote about ordering 100 lunches on the telephone . Sam wasn’t rude at all. He was elderly and worked alone . I can’t imagine him making 100 sandwiches on his own and if he did actually hang up, he probably thought it was a joke . I have lived about 5 miles from this area for quite some time and have never seen or heard of it. It is rather difficult to find . Tip: it is in the building attached to the side of a Verizon store . It’s in the Colonnade building . I ordered a tuna sandwich on a baguette. It was simple and good. Again no complaints . He wore gloves, which is much appreciated . He generously spread it on the baguette and asked if I cared for lettuce and fresh tomatoes . Then he put it on and asked if I would like sweet pickles or peperoncini on the side. I asked for water and I tried an oatmeal nut cookie. The cookie had a great flavor and consistency . However, it wasn’t freshly made as the baguette sandwich . He is a clean man and never rushed or Ignored me . I felt sorry for him because it was his lunch time . I ate in his place , while he ate by the lovely and quiet indoor courtyard right in front of his restaurant . He would look up from time to time to see if I needed anything . I saw him prepare something special for his customer and friend . It was soft sort of soft white cheese with sliced tomatoes and a sliced Persian cucumber with Mediterranean olives. His main concerns were making his costumers happy, cleaning, and serving the food hygienically and making certain each order was correct . So he may not answer the phone . Again, no complaints . If the cookie would have been freshly made that morning , I would have given it a five . If you like coffee, simple sandwiches, and want a quiet place, good service, and this is a place for you.

The Baked Bear – Menu with Prices – 1789 N Victory Pl, Burbank

First of all……..cool name. Second-I never knew of this amazing little plaza, filled with good food, hiding behind the other stores. Luckily my gf found it somehow and first thing we try is the baked bear because it felt like a cookie ice cream sandwich type of day…. The workers are super friendly and have good customer service. They let us try samples (many) and all were pretty decent. The “baked bear” ice cream didn’t live up to my expectation so I didn’t order that but it was okay. Just not….life changing. We ordered a sandwich and split it (luckily we didn’t order our own because we were stuffed after one). I like how they let you choose two different cookies for the sandwich. We chose the gooey butter and s’mores cookie. The gooey butter was delicious!! Number one fav. Not as gooey as I thought it would be but still bomb! The s’mores cookie was super good as well. They were both soft and chewy even though they’ve been sitting there for a while. The cookie dough ice cream was pretty good. If I’m going to have a cheat meal and eat some ice cream, I like for it to be super sweet. This was not. It wasn’t bland but wasn’t satisfying. The price was good for the portion. You also get one free topping with the yelp check-in! Not sure if I’d come back but I’d recommend trying the baked bear at least once in your life.

Ninth Street Deli @ Howard’s – Menu with Prices – 2732 S 13th St, St. Louis

What a great lunch! Easy going and laid back deli/bar. You can tell they must have a huge crowd on game days. Drink specials and free shuttles to the games. You order at the counter and receive a number to place on your table. They weren’t that busy and the food arrived quickly and with a smile. We had the pick 2 (half sandwich, salad or soup) for $10. Tried the New Yorker with the chicken and dumpling soup. Also tried with the chili. All were delicious! Pastrami was tasty, lightly slathered with house made slaw. The chicken and dumpling soup was just that and done well. Dumplings were tender, broth was rich and thick. Chili was chunky with beans but could have been a little thicker but I would order it again! The only thing that I can suggest is that the packaged crackers that are served with the soups were soooo stale! On the way out I did tell the gentleman at the register that I think someone should give them a taste. The entire lot of them needs to be trashed! They also had other soups and I will be back to try them all. Cold and hot sandwiches. They have a full bar, fountain drinks (Pepsi) and also offer bottle drinks in a cooler. Plenty of seating inside and a very nice Patio!

Panini Bread and Grill – Menu with Prices – 3510 W Bell Rd #4, Glendale

My husband and I decided to go to this Panini shop. We found it on Yelp and wanted to try it out. WOW! So glad we did. “Arizona Panini Bread & Grill” did NOT disappoint. I know it’s a Panini joint, but man, they know how to do sandwiches, soup and all the things that make for a great sandwich shop. Until today, I never really understood why people ordered potato chips. But now, after having their homemade kettle chips, I am a FAN!! My corned beef panini was perfect! The bread was so fresh and the meat was great. My husband had the Chicken Avocado Panini and it too was delicious. The fries were good too, but after eating my husband chips I was too full to finish them. Typically I only eat about 1/2 my sandwich. My husband was shocked that I ate it all. It was just so good, I couldn’t stop!! They had a nice drink selection with fountain drink and flavored teas/free refills. The Reese’s cookie was…. too good. I was so full, that I could only eat a bite, but because they have to-go boxes and give you an ice pack to pack your food, I was able to put my cookie on ice while we ran errands for 2+ hours while my cookie stayed in the car and didn’t even melt. (Ya’ll it was a high of 110° today. They think of everything. More than all of that, you can feel the love and care that each person on this team puts into the food and service. They make you feel like part of the family that they are. I will definitely be going back and bring family and friends!

Sum 2 Eat – Soul Food Resturant – Menu with Prices – 1815 W Erwin St, Tyler

You could drive by this place and never realize the deliciousness hiding inside. I think this building was a Dairy Queen about 30 years ago. It’s been several other businesses since. Right now it’s a place you don’t want to miss. Simple food, cooked right. There’s no menu, because selections change daily. You walk in and go up to the steam table. There’s a few entree choices, and several side item choices. Today they had fried chicken, fried catfish, and smothered pork chops for the main course. There was chili mac, mac n cheese, black eyed peas, and boiled cabbage for the side options. For less than $9 you get an entree with two sides and a roll or corn bread. I got the fried chicken, chili mac, and cabbage. It all tastes fresh and homemade because that what it is, fresh and homemade. I could have made a meal on the chili mac and cabbage! ? This is food like my mom cooked, food that I grew up eating. There’s no frills or bells and whistles here. That because it’s not needed. Simple food, simply done right. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Atmosphere is simple, relaxed, and fun. If your tired of the same old cookie cutter big name restaurants here in Tyler then give this place a try. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Broadmoor Bistro @ The Center for Academic Achievement – Menu with Prices – 8200 W 71st St, Overland Park

This is a review strictly on the bistro morning service. I just want to plaster the city with advertisements on this place. What a huge plus for our school district and community. The building and the eating space is gorgeous and inviting. You do have to be let in the building and check in with the guard but after all it is a school. In the mornings they have a variety of sweets and pastries, I don’t get the impression they have a regular menu for breakfast. In fact we asked about lunch items and the sweet girl working said it varies and to just call if we want to know ahead of time. My husband got lucky and they had a chicken salad sandwich left from the previous days lunch I imagine. He is not a pastry fan. The bread was fresh baked and the chicken salad was simple with a light base and just celery and onion. Sandwich was solid, not soggy in the least. My daughter chose a peanut butter cookie and oh my, it was moist peanut buttery goodness. It was thick and chewy. I had a homemade everything bagel. It was chewy and probably the second best bagel I have ever had in KC. My only complaint is it is reheated in a microwave and it made an already chewy bagel and little chewier. I would recommend a toaster oven for reheating items. They have an espresso machine so you can order your speciality drink or just get a drip coffee. Drip coffee is piping hot and pretty good. Husband ordered the iced coffee thinking it would be coffee on ice but it was with milk. Didn’t matter, it was so good he bought another one. The espresso is again probably one of the best I have had. We had a wonderful morning just sitting and watching as students arrived and prepped for lunch. What greater way to engage kids than to get them started on their career passion now. I encourage anyone reading this to support this program by going in the mornings to grab a bite, stopping on the afternoons they offer baked goods for sale and their weekly dinners. These kids are talented. They also have a huge shelf full of a variety of jams and pickles that are made in house from their garden. Huge jars of pickles are $5, yes $5! I bought two. And the cherry on top… iced coffee, drip coffee, cookie, bagel with cream cheese , a chicken salad sandwich and a jar of sweet pickles for a total of $15! Seriously! Side note, I bought the second jar when I realized what a steal and decided it is my job to help support this program.

The Baked Bear La Cantera – Menu with Prices – 15900 La Cantera Pkwy Suite 26140, San Antonio

Perfect sweet treat! If you’re at La Cantera and you’re looking for something sweet definitely stop by The Baked Bear! They have so many options to choose from and you can sample the different cookies and ice creams!!! It can be a hard choice cuz there are so many options but, I’m always a fan of a good ol chocolate chip cookie and theirs is sooo good so I got a chocolate chip cookie and also the gooey butter cake because I love butter cake! And did you know you can do split scoops? How cool is that?!!! So I sampled a few ice creams that caught my eye but I decided on Dark Chocolate and Toasted S’mores, yum! I personally didn’t need to do a topping because that can get too messy and I prefer to eat mine like an ice cream sandwich, but I did get it pressed! Sooo good!!! Oh and we also got a Bear Bowl, and that’s really yummy! It’s a warm cookie in a bowl topped with your choice of ice cream and toppings. My hubby got that w vanilla and topped with almonds, simple but yummy! Like I said before their chocolate chip cookie is really yummy! In addition to the yummy goodies, the staff is super friendly and their assistant manager Elijah was awesome! Thanks for amazing customer service! Y’all are doing a great job!!!
