We had lunch here yesterday and were very happy with the food and the friendly staff. I had a generous taste of the yummy Hearty Veggie Soup and then ordered a bowl of it. Both my husband and I ordered the vegetarian Caesar Salad with tempeh and it was terrific. They were not stingy with the tempeh!! As strict vegetarians, we are virtually never able to eat Caesar Salad outside our home because of the use of anchovy paste in the dressing. The only negative was that the salad portion was ridiculously HUGE and we could easily have shared one. The staff should tell people how huge it is!!! We would definitely go again!

Rew Orleans – Menu with Prices – 447 NW 23rd St, Oklahoma City

First off, and most importantly, the food was pretty good. My wife ordered the Caesar salad (without croutons), and she got a very small, underwhelming bowl of lettuce, Caesar dressing, and some parmesan cheese. For $5, we could’ve gotten a couple of Caesar salad kit bags and made our own. But, the fried shrimp po boy I had was unbelievably good! It was a little pricey ($16), but the sandwich was cut into three large pieces, and came with a side of fries. That being said, you’re hit with an “old odor” when you walk in. Not sure if it was mildew or what. Not super strong, but definitely noticeable. They also had a DJ in there that night. Very nice, older gentleman, but it was kind of awkward with there only being customers at 3-4 tables. As others have said, the decor looks like they got some decorations from Party Galaxy or Walmart. It was a bit corny, to be honest. Our waitress was a real sweetheart. She was very friendly, and had a nice, bubbly personality. We really liked her. However, my wife’s salad was brought out 5-10 minutes before my sandwich was ready, so she was done eating by the time mine got there. From the time we ordered, it took probably 30 minutes for my food to get to the table. Not horrible, but not great either. I think there are some things that the owners could do to improve this restaurant. If they do, I have no doubt that this place will be a huge hit!

The Root Cellar – Menu with Prices – 623 Dundas St, London

On the edge of the Old East Village, The Root Cellar represents the spirit and values going into the area’s rejuvenation projects. The locally sourced, grass-roots menu offers many vegetarian spinoffs of classic dishes. With these qualities comes a higher price-tag, but the portions are satisfying. Maybe a little TOO satisfying: I ordered the Buffalo Tempeh wings which comes with 10 pieces of soy-packed flavour bombs covered in delicious hot sauce and dipped in aioli. I chowed them down in about 5 minutes, which was a huge mistake. I retrospectively estimated that I had just consumed about a pound of pure tempeh. For those of you that don’t know, a single serving of tempeh has 40% of your daily fibre and protein requirements. I had just demolished about 5 servings and I could already feel my belly starting to balloon. Afterwards I paid my bill and went home to sit on the toilet. The pressure released from inside of me woke up my roommate who thought someone had fallen in the shower. Seriously, I had enough gas to power a small vehicle. Moral of the story: beware the delicious tempeh wings. Would eat again.

Fowler’s Southern Gourmet – Menu with Prices – 723 W Rowan St, Fayetteville

Finally some good bbq in Fayetteville! The location for me is convenient from work and since it’s mainly a lunch spot (expect for Friday and Saturday Dinner) I look forward to many more yummy lunches here. My friend and I came with her two kids, which was perfect because we had an excuse to order even more food!! We had, the jerk tacos, Caesar salad, brisket and jalapeño slaw! Everything was great! By far the best brisket I’ve had in years and I LOVE brisket! The Caesar salad had bacon chunks, hard boiled egg halves and a creamy homemade dressing! The tacos were really good although the bbq was so good we should of ordered more! I can’t wait to try the burnt ends and ribs! It’s a small place with counter ordering which can be weird when you walk in since you just kinda stand in the way to look at all the wall menu writing but oh well! Very friendly staff and look forward to more awesome lunches here!

Big Top Brewing Company Gainesville – Menu with Prices – 201 SE 2nd Ave #101, Gainesville

***This review does not include alcoholic drinks. It seems to me the brewery is amazing and the drinks are fantastic based upon comments from friends who drink here. This review is about the food and the general establishment.*** When the 4 of us arrived, it was somewhat empty at 6:30 pm, and we were seated immediately. The instant we sat down, the server oddly asked if we were ready to order. After requesting more time, I chose a Caesar salad and a chicken taco, the special of the evening. I asked for no added cilantro on the taco (side note: I don’t hate cilantro, but I like it in small doses). There were several awkward moments with the server during ordering. She was very nice, but did not know a lot about the menu or what was available as we were ordering. It took 30-45 minutes for the food to come out even though it was fairly empty. First came the taco: the flavor was great, with moist seasoned chicken, chipotle flavors in the sauce, and sour lime notes. However, they gave me a corn tortilla instead of the wheat I requested, and they left off the pico because there is cilantro in it. The other strange thing was the Caesar salad (see attached photo). First, the lettuce was romaine, but it was shredded greens and did not include the center rib. Secondly, the dressing came on the side and the salad was on a flat plate. Allow me to over-analyze for a moment: Caesar dressing is very heavy and creamy. It needs a sturdy and watery lettuce to help hold and distribute the dressing evenly. It also needs to be tossed thoroughly in a bowl so that you do not have gobs of dressing in sections of the salad. I have to say that it was the least pleasurable Caesar salad I have eaten in a long time. It turns out the server made these decisions for me without asking me: leaving off the pico, and putting the dressing on the side. As someone who has worked in the service industry, I have been trained to ask what people want, even if it is strange and nonsensical. You cannot make a unilateral decision about the food someone else is paying for and eating. Finally, be cautious when paying the bill. They use a handheld system at the table to place your order and cash you out. When you pay the bill, they automatically add a TWENTY-FIVE percent tip to the order unless you choose otherwise. It is NOT clear on the screen they are doing this, and you are not given an itemized bill to double check before you pay. So, fair warning, ask for an itemized bill prior to the server checking you out. The executive summary: Come here for drinks and choose the food wisely. Be very clear with the staff regarding your preferences. Ask for an itemized bill and watch the tip when checking out.

First Watch – 94 Hundred Shea – Now Open! – Menu with Prices – 9325 E Shea Blvd, Scottsdale

Thought I would come in to support the new restaurant, I sat at the bar alone (no one else was at the bar), I ordered a salad without dressing and the server brings out the wrong salad with dressing on the side, then when she brings me the right salad, she brings it with the dressing on the salad, for the kicker.. when she finally bring the right salad with the dressing on the side I asked for a box and started to pack to go and under the first part was the original salad with the dressing on haha right how embarrassing to know their staff would do this, so the linemen used the same salad. When asked for a manager that girl goes over to my server and tells her first then goes to the manager’s area which is so unprofessional then the linemen all are staring at me when the manager does arrive. I said look at your staff right now, he apologized I asked if I could pay for my drink and I wanted to leave he said he would remake my salad, but at this point does anyone trust that the staff would not do anything to your food, you would hope that wouldn’t happened especially in Scottsdale. When I went into my hair salon after I told them what happened and the girls said they have ordered there twice and there food has been wrong every time and when they went to pick up the correct order the staff was rude. I will not be coming back to this location and I will be telling everyone I know and also writing on yelp. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry and what is sad to remake a salad does not come out of the linemen’s paycheck so why couldn’t they just have done it right in the first place. To my server, if you can’t remember one order please use an ordering pad, it was not busy and I was a party of one! When the staff looks at you like it was my fault when it clearly was the incompetent SERVER who was at fault.

Chopt Creative Salad Co. – Menu with Prices – 1114 Emmet St N, Charlottesville

Did not want to leave a negative review. Unfortunately I called the number three times and was on hold for over 10 minutes and finally hung up on. After two rounds of antibiotics I thought eating a healthy salad would be just what I needed. Boy was I wrong. First it was over $17 for a basic salad with avocado ( which was excellent) quinoa, hard boiled egg and bacon pieces, one half slice of bread and seltzer water. The balsamic dressing was tasteless. But that was no big deal. What bothered me, was the huge hunk of frozen, dried out, leathery discolored egg I had paid an additional .79 cents for. Because it was a chopped salad, this discolored, dehydrated, leathery egg, was now all over every part of my salad. I still feel sick from it eight or nine hours since I had the salad. What bothered me the most, is if they are this reckless with their eggs, how are they with their quinoa? The beets? The extremely frozen vegetables that taste like ice cubes? How old are they? I didn’t want to leave a negative review, so I thought I would call, just to let them know, “throughout your eggs and make sure you put fresh ones in”. But what annoyed me, was that it was virtually impossible to reach anyone at the company, or have anyone actually answer the phone. Which pointed to me a lack of care and disregard they have for their customers. Eat your premium priced salad, go home, get out of here, and we don’t care about your feedback. Just leave us alone. So I will, I’ll go somewhere else for a good healthy salad. Because I know I can’t get one here.

New York Butcher Shoppe – Menu with Prices – 2222 Augusta St #4, Greenville

A M A Z I N G !!!! Owners on site. They actually care. They will take time to explain and educate. We came in because we were wanting to do a BBQ and wanted a nice cut of beef. The owner took time to explain and made the perfect choice. A ribeye bone in and perfect size for two. Our expectations on the beef were high and they delivered. We also bought the Caesar salad and the mashed potato with goat cheese. Our expectations of the sides were lower ( itâ??s a butcher shop) but Jesus Mary and Jospeh (said not in vain but with all due respect) the Caesar salad lettuce was crispy, the croutons perfect and such a delicious dressing. I think I make the most amazing mashed potatoes, but these were a close second or maybe even better! Finally. If a beef ribeye was not enough, we took home two house made bratwurst… we cooked those up too. Nothing I can think of compares except for bratwurst I ate in Germany!

Madfish Grill – Menu with Prices – 4059 Cattlemen Rd, Sarasota

I have lived on Bee ridge and cattlemen my whole life and just this year began going to Madfish. I guess I always thought it was an all seafood restaurant which I’m not a fan of. But I was pleasantly surprised by the wide array of non seafood options. My favorite dishes are the jerk chicken wings, the Caesar salad (best Caesar dressing in town) and they specially make the chicken Marsala for me. Their Marsala sauce is amazing, it is so creamy and light. Everything is so fresh as well. Tonight I came in after the gym looking for a quick, not so heavy meal. I ordered the voodoo chicken with blue cheese sauce and spinach off of the summer menu and it is the best thing I’ve ever had!! I hope they keep this item always!!!!

Al’s Gyros Chicago’s Finest – Menu with Prices – 5932 W Bell Rd, Glendale

I love this place. Really do. Had many dishes on their menu. I cant get enough of the Mediterranean salad with chicken. Its large and plentiful with chicken. So good. My problem is with pick up orders. When I get the salad, I ask for the Greek dressing to be on the side (so it doesnt saturate the lettuce if I were to keep for leftovers, which I do) I was told it always does. That order came with dressing on the side, so when I ordered again I didnt ask, bc… dressing always came on the side for to go orders.. that didn’t happen. I was very disappointed. But since this place is so good and despite me moving and it’s a ways further, I still come here! So I order again and specifically say please put the dressing on side. Ok no problem. I get to pay and notice I dont see the dressing. I’m given one and I go home. Start to eat and noticed the dressing is all on the bottom of the container. So sad! I wont stop coming here, but please stop it LOL! Get it together

Kabob House – Menu with Prices – 31093 Temecula Pkwy D1, Temecula

This place is amazing!!! Let me tell you what we got! Chicken kabob sandwich, Greek salad, rice, hummus appetizer, and falafel appetizer. The chicken in the sandwich was perfect. Cooked exactly right with the best flavor. I don’t even know what all was on the sandwich but whatever it was…it was good. The sandwich came with a garlic paste that was to die for. Tons of flavor! The Greek salad was also amazing. Great dressing, again, with a lot of good flavor. You get a giant portion of hummus for $6. If you plan to use it later with veggies or pita that you have at home, you’ll have plenty to last a while. The falafel was some of the best I’ve ever had. Dipped in the garlic paste or hummus or tsaziki ..definitely try it! I stopped by here for take out on a Wednesday night and it wasn’t busy at all (actually shocking seeing how good it is). The girls working in the front were really sweet and helpful. I waited about 10 minutes for freshly prepared food. This place is definitely going into my take out rotation. I’m really impressed!!

The Healthy Cafe Catering Menu with Prices 50 Yardboro Ave, Albany

I was recommended to order from The Healthy Cafe Catering Company from a few coworkers for an upcoming staff event. I called and spoke to Paula, who was just so patient answering my millions of questions. We have a few very specific diets that needed to be accommodated and Paula was excellent about communicating via phone and email to ensure everything was handled. If she didn’t know the answer right away, she would ask the kitchen staff and then get back to me with the specifics. This was important to us since we have a few GF and vegan employees we needed to feed. We didn’t exclusively use The Healthy Cafe Catering Company for our event, but we did order plenty of food from them to substantiate this review. Included in the cost is delivery service, which is fantastically PROMPT. When you tell them a time (even :15 they are there!!) Everyone was so friendly and easy to work with. The quinoa salad with asian dressing was PHENOMENAL! Next time we must order a larger tray of the coconut curry tofu since all the meat eaters just couldn’t get enough of it!! The chipotle tempeh was surprisingly amazing and filling. I have never had tempeh before but I enjoyed the texture and how filling it was. I look forward to working with the Healthy Cafe Catering Company on plenty more work events. Thank you!!!

DiJulios Italian Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 5422 Rattlesnake Hammock Rd, Naples

This restaurant has been around for years and for good reason. It is located at the end of a strip mall. Nothing fancy inside but the food is reasonably priced and fantastic. With all meals you get freshly made bread, your choice of the soup of the day or a Caesar or house salad. With non-pasta entrees you also get a choice of pasta, vegetables or potato. The bread is very good. It came warm out of the oven. It would be slightly better if the butter was not so hard though. My mom and dad both had minestrone soup which they said was phenomenal. I had the Caesar salad and it was excellent. The dressing is a little on the strong side but you can tell it is homemade. I also like that they crumble the croutons on it which is just a little different touch but you get a little bit of it in almost every bite. My mother had the eggplant parmesan which she loved. It is very thinly sliced and had three good-sized pieces. My father had the chicken parmesan, which was a huge piece and he said it was delicious. I had the baked stuffed shrimp which I cannot recommend enough. I normally would not think of ordering seafood at an Italian restaurant but this dish is amazing. It has a seafood stuffing on the bottom and six or seven decent sized shrimp on top. It is served with hot butter on the side. It is a very rich dish and although the portion size doesn’t look huge it is more than enough. I will order this dish probably every time I go as it is that delicious. We were too stuffed for dessert but hope to save room next time we go.
