Great Bakery. Variety of choices of Mexican Bread. Bread, cookies, cakes. Coffee Great. Home Atmosphere.

Bread Basket – Menu with Prices – 7804 E Brainerd Rd # D, Chattanooga

The employees are great, but even if they were mean, their baked goods would be too good to miss. Their cakes are not cheap, but they are worth the price. They almost always have samples for you to try.My favorites are the wonderful tasting cinnamon rolls (which are big and have plenty of excellent cinnamon) all the pound cakes, the thumb print cookies and all the other cookies, the whole wheat bread, the cream cheese muffins, the pumpkin bread and pumpkin bars, and the terrific banana nut bread which is huge, moist, and only $7.99. They have many other great cakes and things, as well as small loaves of the pumpkin and banana nut bread. They make gift baskets and ship them too. They have two other locations: Signal Mtn. and Hixson. All have great employees and the same great items. Please note: They close at 2 PM on Saturday. The Trip Advisor review form seems to think this is a restaurant; however, it is a bakery without any place to sit and eat.

Pano’s Bakery – Menu with Prices – 3020 Santa Maria Ave, Laredo

Oh dear. Where to begin…..I discovered this decadent portal into another world while visiting my in-laws house in the “barrio.” Now, from an outsider’s point of view, this Mexican bakery is the cream of the crop. I’ve never had soft conchas before. Usually when I get a concha anywhere else, it is hard already. This place offers up fresh & hot Mexican pastries, donuts, cookies & cakes like no other. I actually wish I hadn’t ever stepped foot in here, because now, every time I visit Laredo, I MUST stop in here, have a friendly chat with the lady behind the counter and indulge in my beloved yellow conchas! I probably gain five pounds from this bakery alone. People, I do NOT exaggerate. This Mexican bakery is beyond my understanding…It is THAT good! Give it a try when you are in Laredo. You won’t be disappointed….

Sarkozy Bakery and Café – Menu with Prices – 350 E Michigan Ave, Kalamazoo

I remember the morning when we learned Sarkozy’s burnt down. We had seen a concert the night before in Ann Arbor, and that morning as we drove home we decided to stop at the bakery on Burdick Street. We were driving on King’s Highway heading toward town when we saw that we were getting closer to what looked like a fog bank. Except it wasn’t fog, it was smoke. We thought it might be Mr. President’s or the Rickman House, but then we realized it was the Sarkozy bakery. Sarkozy’s is one of those iconic businesses in Kalamazoo. I suppose bakeries are like that. I think of the long time Country Maid Bakery on Portage Road that way. I would guess that one of the fears of customers, once it reopened, was that Sarkozy’s would be unable to replicate its old recipes. There was a story circulating, which I am not sure was true or not, that the original recipes were lost in the fire or were perhaps never even written down. I think people were reassured when the bakery restarted several years later that the Sarkozy product had returned. But I find the new location downtown less than accessible; parking can be a challenge. So I usually get stuff at one of their outlet locations, like the Parkview D&W. Our faves are the various coffee cakes (cherry, raspberry, cinnamon), the Oatmeal Bread, the Challah Bread, and the round French Bread. I like the cookies and the bakery favors a flat, very crisp style of cookie. Judy Sarkozy often provides the cookies for Gilmore Festival events, and so I find having one or two satiates me at intermissions and that keeps me from buying and eating six. My girl believes everything that emerges out of the bakery is always overbaked, so she thinks everything is always this side of too dry. The coffee cakes are very much like that. The last thing we bought from Sarkozy was something new to us: a challah round with golden raisins. I hope it’s seasonal because I could eat that year round, toasted slathered with butter, and that would probably greatly annoy my physician.

Nin Nin’s Farmhouse Bakery – Menu with Prices – 2015 Post Rd, Melbourne

This adorable little bakery is tucked off post rd west of US1. There is a variety of fresh baked treats. Cookies, dessert bars, donuts, bagels, cupcakes, cakes by the slice and more! It is so hard to choose! So far we’ve tried the chocolate dipped macaroon, cupcake and butter-creme filled cookie sandwich. All very delicious!! If you follow them on Facebook or Instagram they post their menu for the next day. They change it up almost everyday. It’s nice to see a mom n pop bakery in the neighborhood now. Very friendly service and a cute farmhouse atmosphere inside. They serve coffee too. Not much room to sit and eat but fun to drop in and pick up some goodies to treat yourself and the fam. Nin nin, you have my heart and my stomach.

Pan Ugo Bakery – Menu with Prices – 8442 Jamaica Ave, Jamaica

I stumbled on this bakery about a year ago, was new to the neighborhood. Went in for just some coffee. The atmosphere was very cozy and pleasant. They had many verities of cakes, bread, empanadas. They are always stocked with pretty much everything you can ask for, they also make natural juices, My favorite is the passion fruit, very good. Also the oatmeal, (Avena) is very good,, I recommended you arrive early as it goes very quickly.. I must overall this bakery has just about everything you can ask for. I save the best for last, the customer service there is great, the young ladies are very polite and always courteous to all the clients that come in everyone gets treated the same customer service level. I recommend if you haven’t tried it, stop by. Great Bakery (Best Coffee in Jamaica)

Scordato Bakery Inc – Menu with Prices – 5011 W Howard Ave, Milwaukee

Scordato Bakery is one of the best in the city. The bakery offers a wide variety of traditional Italian cookies that are beautiful to look at and so tasty. I often bring them to gatherings and an Italian friend commented that they were the best she had ever had and asked me a lot of questions about the bakery (she had never been, but now it is the only bakery she frequents). I actually learned about it from my sister who lives in Brookfield. There have been many stories about this bakery and their expertise and absolute joy in making the cookies. They sell them in a nice presentation box for a gift with each cookie described as well as by the pound. My sister purchased one of the presentation boxes of cookies at Sendiks and served it over the holidays and knew a lot about the bakery as she worked at the Milwaukee Journal and they wrote about it several times as one of those places that is a hidden gem in Milwaukee and well worth traveling too. We live pretty close, and often pick up their bread (very tasty), ham and rolls, and something fabulous is their pizza. It has a doughy bread crust and an awesome tomato/cheese topping and they sell it by the piece. Of course the sweets are out of this world. I am told by those of the Italian community that this bakery sells some specialities that are hard to find. Well worth traveling to this bakery from any part of the city – very fresh, authentic, tasty and reasonably priced. Also, nice people who own/run the bakery.

Veronica’s Bakery Inc. – Menu with Prices – 906 Post Ave, Staten Island

This is a pretty good little Mexican bakery makes fresh Mexican pastries which you might find in a typical bakery just some are different but you gotta try cause there pretty good. They have like different sweet breads from strawberry, vanilla, chocolate and even a sweet type called guava. There bread pudding is pretty good, they have sweet pastries and also basic little breads and cookies and my favorite CHOLOS ! Omgosh I love these, there fried long cinnamon pastries that are so good dipped in like chocolate or just by themselves. They also bake and make special cakes if ordered and they serve breakfast and lunch from chorizo and eggs to tacos and tortas! There bread is so fresh and soft! Prices are pretty good and cheap and you also have small tables that you can eat by. They take orders and the workers are really nice and helpful. They accept both cash and credit cards but the parking can really suck because it sure can get busy in there!

Cakes Extraordinaire – Menu with Prices – 1054 Brighton Ave, Portland

Stopped by Cakes Extraordinar while my wife and daughter were shopping at Lowe’s. I actually wasn’t planning on buying anything, however I was quickly convinced once I entered the bakery and smelled the aroma of cakes, cookies and of course my favorite creamy frosting. The owner was very friendly and talked about a customer I knew who religiously shopped here for celebration cakes she gets for many of her family’s birthdays. I decided to purchase a vanilla cupcake topped with vanilla frosting and two chocolate chip cookies. The cupcake was moist and I was pleasantly surprised to find some of the delicious vanilla cream inside. I bought the chocolate chip cookies for my wife and daughter. They found the cookies loaded with chocolate chips with a hint of coconut. This bakery has been around for close to 35 years and I do remember it being located across the street. Now, that I have discovered it again, I will definitely be stopping by again soon!

Super Pan Bakery – Menu with Prices – 1729 E 7th St, Long Beach

Mana bakery will always have a special place in my heart… This little bakery is hidden along 7th street, easily missed but not hard to find. Once entering, you will find yourself in an abundance of fresh, warm, Latin American baked goods ranging from the typical Mexican pan dulce (sweet bread), to Guatemalan cookies, and flan. My favorite is their beso (kiss) which you can try for only $1. It is a Mexican pastry consisting of two very large, thick, muffin top-like bread domes on top and bottom, with a thin filling of either jam or icing in the middle. I always buy the Guatemalan breads which are 3 for $1, for people to try at work. They’re very soft and delicious, in comparison to the the subtle thickness of most Mexican pan Dulces. Their conchas (shells) are chocolate or vanilla and they are .50c! They are huge and if you stop by in the morning they will be freshly made, meaning warm! Delicious… They’ve also got cuernos (horns) which they will fill for you with custard for only $1! Most of the bread is either .50c or $1. All of the Guatemalan bread is 3 for .99c. Great prices! Along with these delicious baked goods, there is also coffee available for a buck! They have a fridge with drinks such as milk, soda, Monster energy, and flan! They take orders for Birthday cakes or a cake for any occasion! But available daily are their Magdalena’s, a very delicious small cake (no icing or decoration, just the bread itself) from their country of origin. It is $5.99 and absolutely worth it! **Let me add, on Dia de Los Reyes (a Hispanic religious holiday) my family bought a Rosca from them and it was excellent. The texture of all the baked goods here is nothing like the bread from big chain supermarkets. I have noticed it is very dry everywhere. Here, you will almost instantly taste a difference. Very soft, very generous sized, quality bread for a very low price! Service is delightful! Every time I stop by for some goodies, the owner (a very kind Guatemalan man) greets me warmly and even knows me (and my mother) by name. His friendly customer service is also a major reason as to why I keep coming down here for the occasional morning bread and coffee. Mana bakery brings this part of town quality, authentic Guatemalan and Mexican Pan Dulce, and friendly service. I’m always walking out of here with a smile. Thank you Mana! 5 stars, well earned!

Great Harvest Bread Co. – Menu with Prices – 1623 S Fry Rd, Katy

Great Harvest is a nice little home grown place that makes fantastic bread and serves great coffee / pastries / cookies. I love the coconut walnut bread and the salted caramel cookies. There is seating for maybe 20 or so. Quaint place, very friendly staff and excellent bread. The coffee was on point as well (I had a large vanilla latte with 2 extra shots of espresso). My friend always gets the Texas pecan coffee, which is great. A nice alternative to the big chain coffee houses.

The Village Bakery – Menu with Prices – 6202 Chapman Hwy, Knoxville

The best local places are those that are tucked back into little holes in the wall, like the Village Bakery. If you don’t know that it’s next to the big ice cream cone (belonging to another shop) on Chapman Highway, you’ll miss is. And you’ll be missing the best goodies in Knoxville. They always have a terrific assortment of original cookies and cakes, including the thumbprint cookies. Their cakes are amazing and the roses are butter cream. Everything in the store is awesome. And the people who work there are super nice and patiently answer questions. We picked out 2 dozen cookies, 2 petit fours, and a sampling of other cookies and our bill was less than $14.

Bimbo Bakeries USA – Menu with Prices – 5050 E Evans Ave, Denver

I love these little bakery-adjacent outlet stores. This one will give you a free “loaf of bread” with your first purchase. You will also get a free “loaf of bread” with every $10 spent. In case you’re not getting enough free bread, you will also be given a punch card, which entitles you to TWO free loaves of bread after you spend $40 (“punches” are in 8 – $1, 10 – $2, and 4 – $3 increments so you’re basically guaranteed to get the full value of each purchase recorded on the card). “Loaf of bread” is anything off a rack by the door that, on my visit, had bread, buns (hamburger and hot dog), and english muffins. There’s a huge variety of products available. 3 for $5 Thomas bagels. $2 loaves of good, dense, whole grain & seed bread. $1.50 potato buns. Plus a huge variety of desserts and snack cakes and more breads and buns and flats and granolas and seeds… as well as some non-bakery items like jellies, drinks, takis, condiments, and jerky.
