We drove past these guys and were curious. They operate on a residential street, and the store front looks like an extension of someone’s home or garage. We weren’t sure if they were an actual business open to public but with an awning like lady moo moo and a rainbow gumball machine we just had to check. Sooo glad, because shortly after we parked we saw 2 people ordering and receiving tantalizing scoops of ice cream. It was pretty simple to review the menu, but not as simple to choose the flavors. We kept it conservative, as this is a cash only establishment. Was a bit disappointed and didn’t want to drive to a bank and lose our parking spot so the 7 of us ordered 8 scoops. Hahaha…you would think its plenty enough but seriously, they are delish!! and did not make it to the car that was parked a few houses down. We are normally good at sharing, but my family are dessert fiends so very little sharing was done. Flavors we tried but did not get-earl grey lavender. Flavors we tried and did get-Tahitian vanilla, the coconut, mango, litchi (lychee), mixed berry. Of these flavors, my favorite is the lychee. Light and mildly sweet. Tastes almost like the fresh fruit. Next time I am in the area I am going to make up for this missed opportunity.

Dillard’s Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – 1009 Mauldin Rd, Greenville

What can I say? This has been a family staple for eons!! I have known about this hot spot since I took care of the original owner. We would get surprised with homemade peach ice cream from time to time and boy, was it delish! The other flavors don’t disappoint, either. Last time I tried a scoop of lemon (what?!?) and cookie dough. My son even ranted and raved about how it was better than Bruster’s, which he loves! My family and I will definitely be back to try some more flavors… I heard the salted caramel flavor was to die for. Then again, what person in their right mind doesn’t like ice cream in all of it’s flavors??

Four Fat Cows – Menu with Prices – 68 North Marietta Pkwy NW Suite 101, Marietta

This dessert spot is located in Marietta square market, which is just opened up 3 months ago. There are paid and free 2-hour parking available on site. However, the quantity is limited, however, suntrust bank parking lot is available after 5pm to the public. Four fat cows is behind the lucky’s burger. The store sells cute kid stuff and stationaries at the entrance. They offer three different cones: sugar, waffle, and freshly made puffle cone. Since the puffle cone is made to each order, it slows down the service a bit. They offers a lot of flavors (refer to phots) and all ice creams are freshly made in a local ice cream place call greenwood ice cream in Chamblee. And ice creams in pint contains are available to purchase as well. We ordered vanilla and pistachio scoops. The ice cream is very creamy and silky, and rich in flavors. It has a texture like gelato. The only reason I took off one star was the price. $5 for one scoop of ice cream is a kind of pricy. But it is definitely worth a try. The shop offers other sweets like cupcakes too, we didn’t try them this time.

On Any Sundae – Menu with Prices – 3987 Commercial St SE, Salem

What a cute little place! I saw the sign for this spot and then an ad on Instagram and knew I had to try it. I was delighted to learn they serve Tillamook ice cream. Tillamook is my absolute favorite brand and so excited I can now get single scoops of it! I look forward to trying the choco tacos and Dole Whip in the future. For my first try, I got a “regular” of mudslide and of chocolate peanut butter. Naïve me thought this would be a scoop of each. Nope- two GIANT piles of ice cream! Six GIANT scoops for only $8! And a sticker. Amazing. I have an great dessert for the next few nights now. It should also be noted they have specials throughout the week! I’ll be back on Tuesday for $3 choco taco. Four stars because the shop is a little run down and it’s a little difficult to figure out what the board says. But still a great spot. Just a note (and by NO MEANS a reflection of this place) the parking lot can be a cluster. There’s a lot happening in this business center. But it’s worth it!!

Lovejoy’s Tea Room of Portland – Menu with Prices – 3286 NE Killingsworth St, Portland

What a beautiful experience today. I couldn’t of asked for a better lunch with my step daughter. The service was perfect, the food and tea were delicious too. I highly recommend this friendly and adorable spot for anyone that is wanting to step up your lunch date with a bit of class, pizzazz and delightful treats. I’m no rookie when it comes to tea houses and this one is by far fantastic. There is a parking lot on the side of the building, plenty of room in the tea house for parties. Bridal showers, baby showers, birthdays you name it this is too dang cute. Teas I had and recommend… Sticky Rice / Black tea caffeinated Hibiscus CBD / herbal Both extremely good and very tasty. Our fav tea sandwiches – cucumber cream cheese – roast beef and horseradish – hummus The lemon curd OMG The scone was the best scone I’ve ever had. Petite Fours were so good . I can’t remember the flavors but I do remember the mocha & dark chocolate stuck out and were delish! I mean who am I kidding here EVERYTHING WAS GOOD! I even bought tea so we could make more at home. The decor is perfect and adorable. Make a reservation as I can see this is a popular spot and once word gets around town it’s gonna be the tea spot of all Portland! Do I recommend? YES YES & YES! Will we be back? Yes I already told friends and we are planning a girls luncheon. So yes go here you won’t be disappointed!

Swedish Scoops Homemade Gelato & Coffee Bar – Menu with Prices – 26 N Raymond Ave, Pasadena

Have you been to Sweden? If yes and you’ve been missing their Swedish gelato, then head over to Old Town Pasadena for an incredible treat. For those people like me who haven’t been to Sweden, this is your chance to have a taste of their incredible treat. The shop is crisp and clean with a few tables to sit on. At the back of the store is the gelato lab where you’ll witness through the glass window how the magic begins. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. They had been so patient while I try different flavors. Can’t blame me as all flavors were outstanding making it really difficult to choose just one. Behind the glass shelves are an Assortment of 32 delectable creamy flavors with vegan options. You can try some of the flavors before deciding. Gelato here is made with high quality, fresh ingredients and no artificial sweeteners or preservatives. Gelato could be ordered in a cup, cones or adorable kiddie mugs. Scoops offers not only gelato but also Swedish candies, sundaes, smoothies, pastries, and other treats. The shop is also a coffee bar with hot or cold choices including teas. Sandwiches, salads, or wraps are also available. Talking about the perfect place to sit down for a meal, get coffee, and a scoop of gelato for dessert. Look no further as Swedish Scoops is the right place to be!

Gunther’s Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – 2801 Franklin Blvd, Sacramento

Gunther’s was my first ice cream love when I moved to Sacramento. I was dazzled by the neon sign that lights up the exterior of the building with a cone being filled with a scoop of ice cream, and impressed by the longevity of this family owned ice cream shop. They have a case of ice cream treats from chocolate covered bananas, cherries, ice cream sandwiches, and even clown decorated ice cream cones. The shakes are divine. All made to order, and with the ice cream made on premises. If you’re a purist like I am, you’re there for the amazing ice cream! Gunther’s has been a family owned and operated creamery for over 60 years. The creamy delights range from basic flavors like chocolate, butter pecan, strawberry, to seasonal flavors that are sure to delight. I love that you can order either kiddie scoops, regular scoops, or a combo. The kiddie scoops are perfect if you’re just craving a smaller amount. The regular scoops are a tad larger, and I often mix my scoop sizes when I’m indulging in a couple of flavors. Scoops can be enjoyed in either a sugar cone, A classic Cone, waffle cone, or even in a bowl. I often will order my ice cream on a sugar cone and then asked for to be put in a cup so that if there isn’t room to sit and enjoy it there taking it with me is easier. My favorite flavors are traditionally the chocolate brownie, the mint chip, and they make a couple of different heavenly caramel ice cream flavors that depending on the season are available. Gunther’s is a great place to stop at any time of the day or evening. During the summer and warmer months of the year, it’s not uncommon to see a line out of the door and around the corner. Don’t let that deter you from enjoying premium ice cream! The line moves fairly quickly and when you get to the counter the customer service is superb. If you’re unsure of a flavor they are more than happy to let you sample then make a decision. Gunther’s is a Sacramento landmark, and definitely worth trying. I often feel like they are a hidden gem, and should be discovered, and rediscovered often.

Pigeon Bagels – Menu with Prices – 5613 Hobart St, Pittsburgh

Bagels are good but the woman that was making them was nasty and I’m all about good service with good food. I’m from Manhattan so I know a good bagel when I eat one and I’m also used to all varieties of customer service. BUT! This isn’t NYC and these are not NYC bagels, so don’t be a jerk. Your service is the only thing that would elevate the status of your bagels at this point and it sucked. We pulled up for bagels & obviously the parking is atrocious. So we parked right up front on the street and the front of the car was sticking out in front of the handicap spot. We made sure we left enough room for someone to still pull into that handicap spot just in case and then walked in. Instead of saying they had a problem with our parking the moment we entered the store, they took our order, we tipped 20%, & waited until handing us our bagels for the one girl to say “You’re parked in our handicap spot and that’s not allowed so don’t park there again next time.” She was incredibly rude and i’m beyond insulted bc we were NOT in the handicap spot and left more than enough space for someone to park in it. Not to mention, we were the only people in there so they should’ve been grateful for our business to begin with. Now, we won’t be coming back!

La Michoacana All Natural Fruit – Menu with Prices – 129 N McKinley St #111, Corona

We ordered a banana split. The 3 people in front of us got 6 scoops of ice cream each in their banana split so when she made our banana split she gave us 3 scoops. When we asked to get the same 6 scoops she acted like she didnâ??t understand what we were talking about. After explaining what we were talking about 5 times she called the other employee over to discuss it With her in Spanish after the other employee told her never mind just fix it like that then she decided to reluctantly give us six scoops as well but even then she had to be reminded that we were supposed be getting six scoops and not three. We saw the other employee proceed to make the people behind us a banana split with the same 6 scoops. We were the only African American people in the store everyone else in the store was Hispanic! They were clearly discriminating against us! If you are African American donâ??t go to this store or if you do make sure you have your camera ready to record their discriminatory practices!!

I Am Frozen Dessert Cafe – Menu with Prices – 14357 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park

I came to this dessert cafe on a cloudy Sunday afternoon. I was exhausted after flying in earlier that morning but joined some friends because I had heard good things and I am so happy I did! First of all, the cafe is is beautiful with comfortable seating. While the decor and colors are simple, they give a very classy feel. We got there right before a large group so we did not have to wait long to order or for food. We ordered Mango Shaved Ice and the Honey Toast. The Mango Shaved Ice has a wonderful texture that is creamier than Italian ice but lighter than ice cream. It melts in your mouth and feels like a light dessert. It has a whipped topping which also tastes light and fresh. Overall, this was good, but just a precursor for what we were going to experience with the Honey Toast. The Honey Toast comes in several flavors and I honestly can’t wait to try more of them. Essentially, it is a large portion of white bread presented in a cube format that has been toasted with a touch of honey, some syrup and then a blend of flavors with fresh fruits, whip cream, nuts, etc depending on the flavor you get. The flavors of this are amazing – the touch of honey just elevates the flavors of the toast you get and adds just the right amount of sweetness without being overwhelming. My only thought would be that the food is slightly overpriced. Having said that, they are a unique place with unique foods and if you are sharing any of your food, it’s not unreasonable. Definitely try this place out the next time you’re wanting to experiment with a new profile of sweets!

Freezing Cow – Menu with Prices – 3546 Ambassador Caffery Pkwy suite 101, Lafayette

Had plenty of rolled ice cream in my life, this one ain’t too bad. I really like that they have Asian-y flavors too! You choose a base first, then 3 toppings for it. Whatever ingredients is listed under the flavors are not toppings! They are mixed in with the base! I felt bad for the guy rolling all the orders.. he must of done 12 back to back, his forearm looks like they were giving out on him! We had the following: – SWEET BANGKOK – Thai tea and lychee mix in with mango, lychee, and green tea poki sticks toppings – PINK LADY – strawberry base, banana, and strawberry mix in with Oreo, strawberry poki sticks, and strawberry wafers Both was pretty good and tasty. Cool place to take the kids so they can enjoy some entertainment. Hope they get more workers in though, so people don’t have to wait as long. It took 20 minutes for us to get ice cream.

The Penguin Brothers – Menu with Prices – 2040 S 1000 E, Salt Lake City

I heard that Sugarhouse had a new dessert place that I might be able to eat at! I have to eat gluten and dairy free so it very much limits my options. Stopped by one of the days this cute spot was open and was able to order a dozen of cookies that were gluten free even though they were a day old for $5. Super good steal and they had gluten free ice cream options although I could not eat them because they were not dairy free. If you don’t have allergies I would go here for sure though, the dessert all of it looked amazing and the interior is a really good spot for photo opportunities. They have a very eclectic but vibrant decor unlike any other place I’ve gone to for coffee or any dessert in Salt Lake City. Free stickers available so you can rep the Penguin Brothers and you can’t miss the pink food truck that is parked right outside!

Theo Gio’s Mac & Cheese – Menu with Prices – 226 N Guadalupe St, Santa Fe

Heads up that the parking is not great – but if you are used to Santa Fe this is totally normal. There is metered parking across from them on a side street (they take coin or card). Theo Gio’s did have a sign stating no parking and directing you where to park, in fairness. Today was garbage day, so it was (unintentionally) hidden behind the trash bins. Nonetheless, definitely not a deal breaker! They have a cute patio area and a small indoor seating area. We chose to sit inside and it was super cute! Simple yet comfortable. They have a 3 page menu offering (of course) Mac-n-cheese options, along with soup, salad and sandwiches…even dessert! I am regretting that we didn’t try their banana split. I picked the traditional Mac-n-cheese and my husband ordered the buffalo chicken Mac. We also split a baconater sandwich. We ordered the small size of Mac and when we said we wanted to slit the sandwich she made a face… like it was too much food. We almost cancelled my Mac and just shared his. She then said it’s good as leftover so we kept our order as-is. They serve their soda in a can, so no refills, but they offer complimentary water and are not stingy with refills. The regular Mac was good! Just enough cheese, crust and noodle ratio! I thought the flavor was on point! Joey’s buffalo chicken Mac was great too! Just the right amount of “heat”. Not too spicy to enjoy – the perfect blend of flavors! We also loved the baconater – definitely generous with the thick cut bacon! The Toast was a little thicker than I would have liked (Texas Toast) but it was still delish! With two small size mac-n-cheese dishes (the sizes are big enough to be a stand-alone meal), two sodas and the baconater our bill was $44. Definitely worth it as we are food lovers!
