We were in Ft Myers and expecting to have a big dinner wanted a lighter lunch. Iâ??m Mexican American and never tire of Mexican food. Tacos fit the bill as far as a light lunch goes. We searched for best tacos and then selected a restaurant that was near the area we had to go.. . This is located in a strip mall so there is lots of parking and a lot of coming and going. We walked in and it was fairly busy. There was a chalk board menu up on the wall we were trying to read as it was in Spanish, which I do not know! Pretty quick a young woman told us to sit anywhere. As she was the only one taking orders and delivering food it took a minute before she came to our table. We asked for a menu in English and she pointed up at the board and said this is the menu. The front sign said tamales and not seeing those I promptly asked about that. I was disappointed to hear tamales are only available on the weekend, Saturday morning beginning at 10 am. I will be returning when I relocate!. . She brought us chips and salsa. All the salsas were too hot for my liking. The chips were freshly made as far as I could tell and just the right amount of salty. Drinks are taken from the deli coolers, everything from beer to soft drinks, help yourself!. . I ordered 2 tacos with steak. It comes with onions and cilantro if you want it but thatâ??s it. Let me tell you it comes with a lot of steak which was cooked perfectly. So much flavor, simple delicious. I ordered a side order of beans and it came in a huge bowl. Again very good but too much for me to eat.. . My husband was a little irritated with me because he also wanted steak and if you order 2 tacos they must be the same meat. So he ended up with chicken, also just onions and cilantro. I gave him a bite but I was not splitting one steak for one chicken!. . I will absolutely be returning to this restaurant even though the menu is much smaller than Mexican chain restaurants you might visit. Lots of locals were here which to me says food is like homemade. I canâ??t wait to try their tamales.

Granny’s Tamales – Menu with Prices – 0301370060007, Spring

The tamales here are super small. Way smaller than I expected and the day I went in they said they didn’t have the chicken ready. How is it the chicken is not prepared first thing in the morning knowing customers may want those at any given time? The staff there was somewhat friendly, but the tamales are lacking in the flavor department. I concur with another reviewer that these are not authentic Mexican tamales and catered to a certain crowd. Also, I gave my grandmother a dozen of the tamales and she found hair in 3 of them. That is unacceptable and disgusting to say the least. Please wear hair nets and protective clothing to ensure hair does not get in people’s food. I love tamales, but I will not be returning to this business. You want real tamales go to Alamo Tamales off Navigation Blvd in Houston or elsewhere.

La Suerte Louisville – Menu with Prices – 2116 Bardstown Rd, Louisville

I’ve been wanting to try this place since they took the spot the North End Cafe had previously occupied. I love Latin/Mexican food, and this is billed as a step-up from places like El Nopal or Los Aztecas. We went on a Sunday afternoon and was greeted and seated promptly. Our server was friendly but not very helpful, being that this was our first time eating here. The atmosphere is casual and inviting, but more upscale than the run-of-the-mill Mexican restaurant. The prices range from moderate to expensive depending on what you order. We ordered the chips and queso for a starter, chips were light and fresh, Queso tasted good but was runny. For the main course I ordered the Tacos Dorados, 3 “Tacos”, they are actually rolled Taquitos, that contain fried potato, chorizo, romaine, jalapeño mayo and queso fresco. I was expecting tacos and received small taquitos that didn’t live up to the flavor the menu described. They weren’t terrible but weren’t very good either. My girlfriend tried the Steak Tacos, two small soft tacos with ribeye, peppers, onions, siracha aioli, Chile Moria, and cilantro. Now these tacos were good but you only get two and they are definitely on the small side. We also ordered the Cheese Tamales, you get one Tamale that was very good with great presentation. Let me add that the presentation of all the food was good. I do wish that the menu was more transparent and would let you know before ordering the quantity of food you are getting for the price. I was a little surprised that you only get one Tamale for $7.59 when the menu says Tamales. Same with the Steak Tacos we ordered, no where in the description does it tell you how many Tacos. My total after tip was over $50, for the amount of food we received I thought that was way too high. I left the place hungry, never a good sign. I’m not sure if I will go back but I get why people would like this place. It has a nice bar area with a solid drink/beer list, a casual feel great for a date night or night out with friends, the presentation of the food is great and most of what we tried was good. I wasn’t a fan of the high prices for amount we received and I didn’t find our waiter to be all that helpful or informative.

TORTILLERIA DE PUEBLA – Menu with Prices – 3118 S Mingo Rd, Tulsa

I’ve driven past this unassuming restaurant dozens of times and have always been intrigued. I finally had the chance to try the food when a coworker offered to pick up lunch from here. I had 3 street tacos ($1 each). I could have eaten 4 or 5, as they’re pretty small. I had the chicken, carnitas, and steak, which were all delicious but I thought that the steak was superior. After reading other reviews, I’m looking forward to returning and trying the barbacoa. In true street-style fashion, the tacos are garnished with raw onions and cilantro and served with limes, radishes, and grilled jalapeno. They come with two salsas, red and green, which were both very tasty, although I love the heat of the red one.

Sol Azteca Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 328 Montgomery St, Jersey City

Wow! We were not expecting our delivery to be not only so fast but delicious. The carnitas tacos, chicken enchiladas, beef tostada’s, fluatas and side of steak….yes! Side of steak! Were all some of the best traditional Mexican food I’ve had since New Mexico. So glad we found this place. It’s our new go to Mexican restaurant. Try the carnitas (fried pork) tacos or the enchiladas. Don’t forget to get the side of steak!

Taqueria Miguel – Menu with Prices – 3301 Broadway Ave #4837, West Palm Beach

Ordered 3 carne asada tacos and a large chips & guacamole. Took about 10 minutes. I didn’t mind waiting because that means it was fresh. I asked if the guacamole was fresh from today (before I ordered it) and he went and got the container, looked at it and said yes and even showed it to me. The tacos are good. They put a large amount of onions, cilantro and queso fresco. Their tortillas are interesting. Normally, Mexican tacos are served doubled up (2 tortillas) because of the thinness but theirs are actually thick. No need for two. The guacamole lacked salt but other than that it was delicioussss and I consider myself a sort of “guacamole connoisseur” lol. The worst part is there is no horchata to wash it down. It’s not the same to eat authentic Mexican tacos without horchata (at least for me)! Oh, and their salsa verde is in point!

Campestre Mexican Bar and Grill – Menu with Prices – 910 Beaumont Centre Pkwy, Lexington

This restaurant has some of the nicest and accommodating staff I’ve ever met. I’ve been meaning to come here for quite a while and check out there street tacos among other things. When you first arrive as typical they will greet you and direct you to a table or a booth. Complimentary chips and salsa are also provided. They give you a creamy type of dip that is slightly sweet and really tastes great. The salsa is quite delicious and their chips are freshly made not too hard not to crunchy. My wife ordered a tamale and a lunch combo that she really enjoyed. I order street tacos and a chile relleno. Play close attention to the menu as these three tacos do come with both fresh and sauteed onions. While I absolutely love cilantro and fresh onions on my tacos I can’t say the same for sauteed onions. They have a taco sauce that they provide which is really complimentary to the tacos. Slightly spicy and a tad bit smokey. I am always one to add fresh sliced avocado to my tacos, which they obliged. My tacos came with the sauteed onions which I didn’t complain about but I did pick them out. When I saw that I picked out the onions and set one of them aside. When the staff came to check on us, our server noticed that I hadn’t eaten two the tacos and the onions I picked out. He happily offered to have two tacos made without onions. If I thanked him for his consideration and observation. These tacos were amazing to say the least! We will definitely be back to experience more of Campestre’s cuisine and get to know their amazing staff. Five Stars you guys knocked it out the park and won us over!

Tacos El Gordo – Menu with Prices – 1510 N National Ave, Springfield

(I’ll be upfront and admit that I’ve only had their chicken and steak tacos. I’m sure the rest of their menu is just as good, but I’ve become quite addicted to the chicken tacos, and consequently haven’t had the willpower to try anything else. ) So about the chicken tacos: they are small and a bit pricey, but they are also the best tacos I have ever eaten… including in Mexico. They are really fantastic. I personally prefer to have them hold the onions, but that’s merely personal preference and no reflection on the quality of the onions. They only use quality ingredients. Each taco is fairly small, so for me four makes a full meal. You may prefer two to six, depending upon your appetite. They actually did heat up very well later though, so if you order too many, save them! Each one comes with a small slice of lime. If you squeeze some juice out, it really does add something amazing to the flavor. On a side-note, the steak tacos were outstanding as well. I’ve been favoring the chicken, but the steak was also outstanding. I’ll be honest and admit that I’d foolishly ignored this place for years, because I hadn’t been impressed with the restaurant which had preceded them, and the building was unremarkable. My foolish loss! I will be making up for that mistake over the coming years, by eating here every chance I get.

Zaddys Tacos Menu with Prices 800 34th St, Bakersfield

This review is solely based off of the tacos. I plan on returning for the BBQ. Recently, my wife who is from Arkansas made me some tacos that she grew up eating. It was ground beef, with lettuce, tomatoes, onion, olives, shredded cheese and ketchup. It wasn’t bad, a bit weird (I am Mexican and when I think taco It makes me think of Mama hand making some tortillas with some delicious Asada) This is what Zaddy’s tacos are to me as well. Not bad, but not what you would expect a traditional taco to taste like. They look like a Mexican taco for sure. Let’s start off with the pros: The owner of Zaddy’s is an awesome guy. Really polite, seemed really down to earth and sounded like he loved what he does. The service he provided was no doubt 5 stars! Now the tacos. The meat in all 3 tacos that I had was cooked perfectly. Small juicy little cubes of steak, chicken and pork. The green and red salsa were killer, and the red had a nice little kick to it. The tortillas are also heaped generously with the meat! Out of the 3, I think the chicken was the best. Neither I or my wife were a huge fan of the seasonings used on the pork or steak though. Like I said, not bad but definitely not what we are used to but keep in mind the menu says Steak and Pork. Not Asada and pastor. The tacos 3.5 stars Service 5 stars Overall, not too bad. Cheap. Big portions. Will return to try other items and see if it was just an off day.

KO’OX HANA’ – Menu with Prices – 214 Augusta Ave, Toronto

Ko’ox Hana is a great place to get some cheap, filling, tasty eats. They have an option where you can choose 3 items for $9.99. Some of these items include tamales, panuchos, salbutes, tacos (cochinita pibil), or some undefined vegetarian dishes. I got two salbutes and a taco. According to the menu, those are slightly sauteed tortillas covered in shredded chicken or achiote grilled pork, along with the “perfect garnish”. Slightly sauteed actually seemed more fried than sauteed, but I actually preferred it fried to slightly sauteed. I actually wasn’t asked whether I wanted the chicken or the pork and I didn’t realize until they put the chicken option down. I actually wanted the pork. I should have asked. For those of you who were wondering, the perfect garnish included was lettuce, pickled onions, avocado slices, and queso. My avocado was had some brown spots, but other than that and the chicken thing, these were very tasty, and at $10, very good. No tamales this time, but I’m excited to try a lot more next time.

Taqueria Amigo Chino – Menu with Prices – 5601 W Irving Park Rd, Chicago

Since I’ve only had tacos 3X’s in the last 3 days I was craving tacos again lol. Tonight is Monday we were driving by Taqueria Amigo Chino on the SW corner of Irving Park & Central Avenue and saw a sign from the Mexican Gods to go to Al Pastor Tacos for $1.39 on Mondays and Thursday. (or it could have been the sign on the window advertising it lol) So we pulled around the block and parked on Central a few doors from the restaurant. The restaurant was fairly busy (go figure for $1.39 Al Pastor tacos). Like most Mexican restaurants they brought us out an order of chips w/3 salsas. Both my wife and I ordered 3 Al Pastor tacos. I’m basing my review solely on the tacos. I’m surprised that Taqueria Amigo Chino is only rated 2 1/2 stars. The tacos that came to table were very good. They were loaded w/Al Pastor, onions & cilantro on 2 corn tortillas. The pork was very good w/a nice crispy texture. The service was good, good food w/street parking along Central Avenue. Remember Monday or Thursday for Al Pastor Tacos for $1.39

Pepe’s Taqueria – Menu with Prices – 645 Chandler St, Worcester

Went today with my friend for lunch. It was a first time for both of us. I wasn’t impressed or wowed. I ordered guacamole to go alone with our chips & salsa (looked like it had julienne carrots in it): the tomatoes & red onions inside looked like they were old, they were softish & the guac itself was very loose & lacked flavor we added salt. She ordered fried fish tacos & I ordered steak & chicken fajitas: neither one of us liked the tortillas. They came to us with some kind of yellow grease still on them. To me they tasted like they were uncooked. We think they maybe been corn the menu never said what kind they have. The our beans were loose but tasted good, the rice was also good. My steak & chicken was ok, I did have to add some salt. My friend liked her fish tacos. We both ate our meal without those tortillas. After giving us boxes for our leftovers, the waitress brought the check without asking if we wanted dessert. As she was placing the bill down, friend wished me a happy birthday. The waitress wished me one as well but still didn’t ask if we wanted dessert. We were 1 of 3 seated tables so it wasn’t a matter of it being busy. I would order their fajitas again, either without those tortillas or request them cooked longer. But I’m a little leary about trying anything else. Their portion sizes are large enough to have a doggie bag. Oh & I don’t know what the deal was with the locked bathroom door. Maybe it’s only one stall, if so I find that odd a restaurant of that size wouldn’t have a multi-stall bathroom.

Cuban Mexican Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 4016 Ulmerton Rd, Clearwater

Nestled in the corner of a strip mall off Ulmerton road is The Cuban Mexican restaurant. I have been here twice because of My Yelp friend reviews and it’s like 30 seconds from where I work. My two choices were a Cuban and 3 Mexican tacos. The Cuban was not totally authentic because they added tomato but it was an amazing cuban. I’m not sure if they made a mistake but it had cuban pork jammed inside and it was good. It had all the flavors i want out of a cuban and they didn’t skimp on the meat.(see pic) When lunch was done my belly was full and i was happy. Being a Tampa Native i know my Cuban sandwiches, my dad has been going to Ybor city for Cubans and Deviled crabs his whole life. I have literally grown up on Cubans. My second visit i got Mexican tacos, because it is the Cuban Mexican restaurant. I have to try both Cuisines!! I went for the trifecta: chicken, steak, and pork. They are double soft tortilla with onions and cilantro, and before i left the gentleman inquired if i’d like hot sauce. Ummm Hell Yes!! It was perfect, not too hot but just spicy enough to super charge the Tacos. All the meats were well seasoned and cooked just the way i like it, Not dried out. It’s a small place, only about 6 four tops and 2 high tops that could seat 6. It also had one outside table. The drink choices are typical mexican sodas with american versions as well. I love the mexican coke, it has real sugar. If you find your Family craving food from both sides of the Gulf of mexico in one place; Do yourself a favor and stop on by. No passport needed!
