OK sushi, but really fun concept that I wish they would have more of in other large cities. Basically, the gimmick at Kura Revolving Sushi Bar is in the title, the revolving sushi bar or conveyor belt. Customers sit down at their tables and can either order dishes made by the sushi chefs and have it sent to them via the revolving sushi bar or they can pluck items from it that have been rotating around the entire restaurant. If it’s your first time here, you’ll have tons of fun, maybe even a little too much fun to the point you’ve overspent. We came here with my family on a Saturday evening at 7:30pm and there was only a short wait. Once we got seated, we went straight to work and started taking different sushi dishes off of the conveyor belt. I have to admit, it was a lot of fun just taking dishes off of the revolving bar and not having to order/wait for our food. And you might ask, so how do you pay for the dishes that were taken from the revolving bar? Simple, there’s a small opening at the edge of every table that can fit a small plate. After customers are done with the plates, they slide it into the opening and it’ll count towards their total number of plates eaten. For items that were specially ordered, those will automatically be tallied because the system knows you ordered it. As for the food, the sushi was OK. There was a good variety – salmon, tuna, eel, beef, tamago, etc – but there’s only 2 pieces of sushi on every plate and the rice could have been a little fresher. For our 1st time here, it was a fun experience and something different than the usual order and wait for your food. Would we try it again? Definitely. It wasn’t bad at all.

Teharu Sushi Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 9845 S Priest Dr, Tempe

This is a revolving sushi restaurant.  “Revolving” sushi means that there is a conveyor belt surrounding the sushi bar where the sushi will sit as it rolls past you.  You can pick what you want from the selections as it goes past.  This is a fun way to eat as you can see the items in person before selecting.  also, you can pick anywhere from 2 to 4 pieces (typically) at a time so you don’t fill up on too large a portion of one type of food; you’ll get to enjoy more types.  Pieces of sushi here are typically small so you don’t fill up too fast.  That is so you will choose more from the conveyor.  Each plate of food you pick up will be charged to you.  In Revolving sushi places, such as this one, the plates are color-coded, meaning that the prices changes from plate to plate.  There is also a menu so that if you don’t see what you’re looking for, you can order it.  The pricing here is decent, so even after eating plate after plate of food, you still end up paying about the same as you would at a conventional restaurant–at least this has been the experience for myself and my children.  Kids will enjoy the parade of food going by and love making their own choices.  There will also be soda (usually Ramune) and desserts for them.  Green tea is available and is very good here (though, in Japan, at a restaurant near my grandmother’s house, they have spigots that dispense the tea… would be a nice addition here *hint hint* Teharu).  All in all, this revolving sushi place is clean, has a lovely atmosphere, the food is fresh and tasty (VERY important for raw fish), the beverages have a good selection, is good for kids, and fun for whatever your needs–dinner with the family, a lone lunch, networking, date night, etc.  I suggest it to anyone… unless you don’t like fish, or raw fish.  But my oldest child doesn’t really like raw fish so she strictly sticks to pot stickers.

Sushi Sakura – Menu with Prices – 24711 Katy Fwy Ste 500, Katy

I’ve been wanting to check out a revolving sushi spot and finally got an opportunity to do so at Sushi Sakura on a Monday evening. Sushi Sakura is located in a shopping center so parking isn’t an issue. Katy has really blown up lately and their dining scene is growing tremendously. I don’t visit often because it’s a far trip but this was worth the visit. They have bar-style seating as well as booths by the conveyer belt. If you’ve never been to a place like this, it’s a pretty cool concept. A conveyer belt brings around a selection of sushi and other Japanese tapas. If you’re interested in an item, just take it off of the conveyer belt and eat away. You can supplement what happens to be on the conveyer belt by placing a custom order. Since their menu extends well beyond what was offered on the conveyer belt, I did a mix of both. When you place a custom order on their tablet, it comes straight to your seat. You’re charged per item and there are different prices based on the dish. I tried an assortment including gyoza, pork katsu, a sushi roll with shrimp, shrimp shumai, teriyaki roll, and one or two others. Everything was good and I like that this experience gives you the opportunity to try a bunch of dishes. It’s a unique dining experience and one that I would compare to other unique dining experiences like hot pot, Japanese BBQ, fondue, etc.

Kura Revolving Sushi Bar – Menu with Prices – 9659 Milliken Ave suite 104-105, Rancho Cucamonga

Been coming to this sushi place since 2013 when it used to be Kula Revolving Sushi. In comparison, the new and improved Kura is way better! They definitely upgraded their technology and the way the restaurant works. LOVE that they have screens that allow you to order and also the belt. I keep seeing bad reviews in regards to their sushi but I honestly feel the quality and the service far exceed what you pay for. $2.60 per plate is cheap in comparison to other sushi places. Not to mention their hand rolls are AMAZING! They give you the option of using seaweed or rice paper for hand rolls. I will say, this place was hit or miss up until the remodel. Since then, we have only had good experiences at Kura. Oh and the prizes for eating 15 plates are a GREAT WAY TO GET YOUR CHILD TO EAT! Our 10 year old who has been eating there since she was 4 has ventured out into trying rolls and now has a new favorite: Golden Crunchy. We make it a goal to eat at least 15 plates as a family and alternate who get to open the prize.

Kura Revolving Sushi Bar – Menu with Prices – 1840 W 182nd St, Torrance

Interesting place our son and his brother from another mother brought us to, to say the least. We found the idea of a conveyor belt / carousel rotating pre-made sushi past you, as well as another conveyor belt above it bringing you ordered dishes, quite interesting. We sat at what is considered the bar, facing the noted conveyor belts. There was some dining tables on the opposite side, from what we could see. Prior to being called in, after checking in with the hostess, we had to sit outside (ample seating) and smell the wonderful aroma of transient piss. It was not pleasant. Albeit the strip mall is responsible owner / management company is responsible for the cleanliness of the entire property it might behoove management from this restaurant to maybe get in the habit of doing a quick mop down of the walkway and bench seating with some bleach. Just a recommendation, as I won’t return here again if I have to wait outside for more than 5 minutes. Some reviewers note you can make your reservations on-line or from an app. I highly recommend that if you are tech savvy! Nobody (i.e. the staff) explained how this new experience we were about to embark upon was to be handled. Had they inquired if this was our first time at their establishment I suppose they would have known we were newbies. The only interaction was when we were asked what we’d like to drink and the quick drop off of said drinks that were ordered. So we relied on the two amigos to explain things to us. First off, the counter top we sat at was not very clean and slightly sticky from previous patrons. Now to the food… Some of the sushi (two pieces per plate) coming around on the conveyor belt / carousel looked like it had been already making the rounds for a couple hours, while other items looked much fresher. While waiting for our turn to enter I was reading reviews on Yelp and I almost foot bailed after reading the several recent reviews of people getting ill (food poisoning?) after eating here. But, I was selective in what I took off this contraption. Everything I chose to eat was A-OK, but nothing special from a sushi stand point. Once you consume the grub on the little plates you select they get slid down into an abyss of some sort directly in front of you. This keeps your little area in front of you clear for more food items should you choose to continue indulging. After consuming a few plates is when I realized the conveyor belt above was bringing dishes directly to others sitting at the bar (you never see any chefs / food prep people, as they are tucked away in some netherworld beyond the curtains). When I spoke to myself, “WTF” my son pointed to the touch screen menu board above our heads. I reluctantly flipped through this, and I say reluctantly because I seriously doubt these TOUCH SCREEN menu boards are cleaned off by staff when someone vacates the seat (I could be wrong, but never observed it being done while there). Anyhow, I ordered a couple items from the board and I must say they were actually above average in taste. Maybe because they were definitely fresh from the kitchen. They claim a 2 minute guarantee arrival time. I wasn’t paying attention to the time, but it did not take very long. When it was time to depart and your check is delivered I was kind of amazed that it solicited 15% to 20% tips to add on. For having but two interactions with staff (getting a drink if ordered and your check to get out) I found this kind of obnoxious. But, you can decide how you feel about that on your own. I have no idea if the folks in the sweat box kitchen (perceived) get a cut of any tips. Yeah, I still left a few bucks… Overall, I found it an interesting experience with average food (of what I selected and elected to eat). The prices are not hateful. The staff don’t seem to give a shit, at least the crew around us. Would I eat here again? Sure, but it won’t be because I choose the place. It’ll be because I’m not driving. There are places in Orange and Los Angeles Counties t

Sushi Chiyo – Menu with Prices – 13307 NE Hwy 99, Vancouver

I don’t like to give lesser reviews, and I don’t like to be all Mr. Negative Nancy… That said, it wasn’t the quality that got me, but it was the style.. they would make about 100 plates of each type and keep sending them out, seemed they didn’t make the majority of the items, we would have to ask for all the hot items. They were friendly and they were accommodating, but really I like to just grab and go with these places.. We came in at a normal lunch time, the place was clean, friendly, and well equip for the customers. We had no issue finding 8 seats for the group. Food was fresh, clean, and had no issues on presentation, but really it was just another conveyor belt sushi place. I would have liked to see more variety, and more hot items ready to grab.

Sushi Factory – Menu with Prices – 8115 NE Vancouver Mall Dr, Vancouver

My review is not reflective of the sushi, only because I eat very basic veggie sushi (avocado and cucumber rolls and an assortment of such). I love shrimp also, so I come in and see a tempura shrimp roll with a little crab inside topped with avocado. Basically what I love. I grabbed the only 3 I could find on the belt and ate almost all of them. I couldn’t find a picture of this roll on the menu am I saved the last bite to show the waitress. Very long story short. I ordered two more. The original plates were orange. I was handed ONE plate. And it was blue. $.75 difference. No big deal. It’s the principal though. He then proceeded to put 3 plates of the same roll on the belt with teriyaki drizzled on top. And before you start to question if the blue plate had a double order like some places do, it didn’t. Same amount of sushi. I grabbed the next 3 plates and ate them because that was the only roll appetizing to me. I’m really just writing this in hopes that the owners acknowledge this and make sure they stay consistent. I may not return because the chef rolled his eyes at me twice and consistency is key. Once when I ordered the sushi, another time when I wanted more spicy mayo. I’m going to take it with a grain of salt and move on but I figured you should be warned, just in case it happens to you.

Kiyoshi’s Sushi LLC – Menu with Prices – 6550 Gateway Ave, Sarasota

Everything we had was delicious and the place is small but awesome. The service was incredible; friendly and attentive from as soon as we entered and continued as we left. The restaurant’s decor is really cool; the conveyor belt, when not in use for their sushi plates, has a delightfully awesome array of rubber ducks. Their spicy salmon roll was some of the best sushi I have ever had, the eel was incredible, and the tuna was beautiful. As one of my daughters said, “this place has ruined sushi for me.” We had 2 pieces of nigiri, and 6 sushi rolls with 2 salads (with homemade ginger dressing), 2 bowls of miso soup (homemade on site), and 3 drinks with tip for only $73! I will DEFINITELY be back!!!!

SUSHI ING Japanese Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 8855 Viscount Blvd, El Paso

Pretty excited a rotating sushi bar is here in town. I would suggest this place to anyone in town who enjoys sushi or for adventurous eaters. For those who don’t know, sushi goes around a conveyor belt and you can pick up whatever you want to eat. Since it’s not all you can eat, and you pay per plate, the price can rack up pretty quick. I easily racked up a bill of $60+ for just me. However, for me it was totally worth it. You can find certain types of sushi you can’t find anywhere else in town such as sweet shrimp. The quality and freshness of the sushi itself can be variable however, especially if they have been rotating all day. If you aren’t in the mood for sushi, they also have bowls and other things like calamari available. You can also order directly if you are craving a certain thing on the menu. This place is also great if you are in a rush because there will also be sushi already available once you walk in. Overall, I would suggest this place to everyone in town. Even though the price can be expensive, especially for your typical rolls, you can find certain things here that you can’t find anywhere else.

CAPRIGIOS PIZZA – Menu with Prices – 620 Dunlop Ln Ste 119, Clarksville

As a self-proclaimed pizza snob, I am always looking for a good pizzeria here in Clarksville to try. There’s been a whole lotta noise about this place, so I thought I would finally get around to checking it out. I had been one time previously for sandwiches, but this was my first look at their pizza. I ordered three items, a large supreme pie, a large pie with pepperoni, green peppers, & onions, and an order of cheese bread. I was greeted with a smile at the counter by a super friendly guy. Big bonus that I received a 15% discount for being a military retiree…thank you Caprigios for your support of the military! Since my order was to go, I waited about 30 minutes (maybe less…no biggie) for my pies. When they were ready, the same gentleman who took my order presented them to my by verifying they were what ordered…another bonus. I did notice that the green peppers and onions were cut I to tiny diced pieces rather than slices, not a bonus. Got the pies home and dug in. Well, they are not the best pizza in town as one customer told me they were as I exited the restaurant. Not even close in my opinion. The pizza/marinara sauce was spicy. Don’t get me wrong, I love spicy food, but not in a pizza sauce. The crust was thin, but not extraordinary…and the mushrooms on my supreme were not done. I think I know why… …too many pizza places use a conveyor belt pizza oven. Even the new wood-fired pizzeria in town has the cooking surface rotate. Conveyor belt pizza ovens stink because they do. A supreme pie has a good chunk of toppings on it and it needs a little extra time in the oven, but you can’t get that because the pizza maker is just running them through the belt since they don’t really know how to tend to, and look after, a pizza while it cooks in the oven. Conveyor belt pizza ovens are just not the right way to cook pizza, they’re the fast, efficient method for people who don’t really want to take the effort to perfect the craft of becoming a pizzaiolo. The pie with pepperoni, green peppers, and onions turned out cooked well, but dicing the veggies so small makes them unrecognizable and not very flavorful. Before they opened, I made comment on a social media article about them opening…I asked if they were going to be another conveyor belt pizzeria. Caprigios themselves replied to my post saying that they would be at first, but they would transition to a true pizza oven later, I will be back if they do. So, until someone else in town gets an actual pizza oven, there’s only one pizzeria (check my reviews to see who) in town worth getting pizza from on a regular basis and, in my opinion, it is not Caprigios.

Sushi-Rama Fitzsimons Aurora Menu with Prices 13650 E Colfax Ave, Aurora

Fun and quick sushi! Sushirama is a fun and colorful restaurant with a novelty conveyer belt that allows you to try pairs of different rolls at different price points. I’ve been to Sushirama a handful of times and overall it’s a neat hang-out spot for casual sushi. The basics: There are five different colors for plates which designate the price points of $1.50, $2, $2.50, $3, and $4. On each plate the nigiri or rolls come out with 2 pieces. The plates have chips on the bottom so that when they have been out on the conveyer belt for 90 minutes, they automatically get taken off. If a roll you would like is not out, you can just ask your server for the roll, and can also order the complete full roll if you would like as well. I recommend ordering off the menu, especially when its busier and there’s less of a selection on the belt. Sometimes waiting for that perfect roll to come by takes a little longer than expected. When you order off the menu, the rest of the pieces also go on the belt. Vegetarian and gluten-free rolls are also designated on the menu. If you’re not feeling like sushi, they also offer a couple of ramen options. I’m a huge fan of sushi with fruit, so I do tend to like the sweeter rolls over the more savory. My top favorite rolls are the pineapple express, lobster tempura mango, and spider. I have tried the ramen as well, but I honestly prefer the sushi. If you are in the mood for ramen, it’s probably best to check out Osaka Ramen which is owned by the same owner of Sushirama. Cool things: If you work across the street on the medical campus, you can get 15% off with your badge. Happy hour is Mon-Fri from 3-6pm and is 25% off all rolls. Happy Hour is a great time to go because those sushi plates can really stack up! They also have a robot that prepares the rice! (While this is cool, this does seem to contribute to looser rice in the rolls which can result in pieces falling apart). The Fitzsimons location also has its own special roll called the Fitzsimons. Sometimes they will have signs out for other special rolls or appetizers. If you’re looking for fun and casual sushi to enjoy with friends or just want to try a bunch of different rolls, this is the place for you.

Tony’s Fresh Market – Menu with Prices – 4608 W Belmont Ave, Chicago

I can’t believe what I witnessed and what I smelled in Tony’s foods tonight. I was checking out at 19:08:49 on 10/29/18, this is what is on my receipt and a woman started screaming in the lane next to me. I think I was in the 3rd lane and she in the 4th. On my receipt it says I was in 120 Elainz lane which Is the name of my casher who was very apologetic because the smell started to get worse at one point and the people in our lane were now starting to smell it. She first said that her food now smelled like the fowl odor she yelled was coming from the conveyor belt. The manager who also said he was the owner did not handle the situation well. He walked over to the lane slowly and seemed to be upset with the woman right away. The manager asked the cashier to wipe down the conveyor belt but the smell was something I’ve never smelled before and I doubt a wipe would help. And after the cashier wiped the conveyor belt the smell started to spread. It was worse and the fowl odor got stronger. The smell was horrible. And it was so sad to see the cashier still pushing peoples food down that belt and watching people pick up their items and smelling them before putting things in a bag. Many people looked upset. That lane should have been shut down until they figured out what the problem was. I don’t feel like the store is a clean place to shop anymore. I hope the yelling lady got the full refund she wanted. She kept yelling about how she had just wasted 3 hours shopping for food to go home empty handed. And she yelled that the food was going to make her family sick so she wanted her money back. She didn’t want to take smelly food home to her family and get them sick. I get it. It was the nastiest smell ever!!!!! The manager was not being nice to her and I could hear him raise his voice at her as I was leaving. She was pissed and yelling but had every reason to be upset. She was right when she said the manager was putting peoples health at risk. Something is seriously wrong with this store. The lady yelled she was going to call the health department. I hope she does. The bag boys all ran away laughing and disgusted from the smell. A few of the bag boys walked up to the conveyor belt, bent down, smelled it, started laughing snd then ran away holding their noses. The other people in the fowl lane bent down and smelled it and all seemed to agree it was the the conveyor belt. Some people left the smelly lane and some people just left the store. I had can goods and closed items I could wash off when I got home. Which I did. I also smelled my items before leaving the store, everything was fine.

Happy Sushi @BellAirMall – Menu with Prices – 3222 Airport Blvd, Mobile

Pretty good; just a little pricey (reason for one less star). The gentleman who prepped our food was able to take care of my large party of six — a varied order with teriyaki and rolls — and in a timely manner; he was also very polite and cheery. Our teens wanted to check out a new sushi place and they were not disappointed. Food was pretty good. Since this is in the mall, it’s a great alternative to the usual food court fare. Now, if you came for the conveyor belt (“sushi boats”), you should know they don’t use it; it’s more of a useless prop than anything.
