Mediterranean cuisine is one of my absolute favorites, and this place is among the best! I had never, however, tried specifically Egyptian cuisine, or in this case, their famous national dish: koshari. Not only was I intrigued to find a new vegan food from a foreign land, but also to find that an order of it was only $5! And let me tell you, it was quite possibly the best $5 I have ever spent! For this great price, you’ll receive a wonderful blend of chickpeas, lentils, quinoa, macaroni noodles, tiny fried onions, and just the right amount of spice. It’s the perfect amount of nutritious and delicious! My roomie and I wanted the full experience, so of course we each got a small order and shared a plate of fabulous falafel, pita bread, salad, and tahini sauce. It was an absolute treat! The owner of the restaurant was very soft-spoken and difficult to understand at times, but very kind. I must say the restaurant is very small and not all that appealing to look at, but that’s just a part of its deceptively exquisite charm. I cannot wait to come again!

Charlie’s Gyros – Menu with Prices – 200 Main St #103B, Huntington Beach

I have been wanting to check this place out for a while I do enjoy a good falafel and Charlie’s did not disappoint While I was waiting for my food, I overheard someone saying “this is the best falafel I’ve ever had” I was pretty excited to see how it tasted I ordered the falafel wrap with fries on a pita and got the hot red sauce the fries were hot and freshly made with a good amount of seasoning on them. the falafel wrap was incredible. this was probably in the ranks of the top five falafels i’ve ever had. It may even be the best falafel i’ve ever had. the pita was soft and warm. the whole thing was loaded with perfectly fried falafels. the flavor was great and i could pick out a lot of the spices popping through. there was a good amount of salad in the wrap and sauce, i couldn’t tell if it was hummus or tahini but it was awesome! the red sauce tasted like sambal olek. I think a good addition would have been some pickled beets and turnips on the side. even though there was a generous amount of falafel in my pita, i didn’t feel overstuffed after I inhaled it. usually with some falafel places the falafel sits in your stomach like a rock; this however was delicious and not heavy at all do yourself a favor and check this place out especially if you’re vegetarian! its delicious!

Med Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 5870 E Broadway Blvd Space 548, Tucson

Wow! I tried Med Cuisine today for the first time. I had the Chicken Shawarma Pita Sandwich. It was one of my favorites ever. I have tried pretty much every Mediterranean and Middle Eastern restaurant in Tucson, and this is the first that left me wanting it again and again. Afterward, I thanked the owner who was working the kitchen and mentioned I wanted to try his falafel. He gave me a plate with a falafel ball to sample and it was also delicious, but that shawarma stole my heart so I ordered another one right after lunch to take home for dinner. My husband did the same, but got the beef / marinated top sirloin shawarma. This will be my go-to place for shawarma. I loved it. On a side note, my sandwich comes with a mayo sauce or garlic sauce, but I love tahini sauce, so they were accommodating and gave me that when I asked for it instead of the options that come with it.

Chickpeas Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 700 N 10th St, Sacramento

First time here and we got the falafel pita. The falafel itself was really good, crunchy on the outside moist and parsley green on the inside. Which paired nicely in the pita pocket with delicious humus cucumber and tomato. However I was disappointed that they ran out of tzatziki sauce, it’s part of the Mediterranean food, the tahini sauce was a good replacement but it was still not tzatziki sauce. I also tried 3 of their self-serve salads the garbanzo was my favorite! The tabbouleh salad and carrot salad were good but seemed to lack salt, tasted very lite in flavor. What I absolutely appreciated is getting to put my own toppings in my pita pocket. The Mediterranean pickles are on point, so are the seasoned onions (only foodies will understand) This place is totally worth checking out

Magic Carpet Foods Ltd – Menu with Prices – 2001 S 29th St, Philadelphia

Delicious! I’d been wanting to try this place after seeing a consistent line and reading these reviews. I’m new to Penn (grad school) and I’m glad this was my first ever food stand experience here. I am not vegetarian but could literally eat falafel everyday and be happy. I just returned from Israel and a few weeks without it was too long. I went on a day when I was eating later (2pm) and there were 4 people ahead of me. The line moved very fast and I decided to start out with the classic pita with falafel. When he handed me the pita it weighed so much and I thought no way i’m finishing this. Well it was so good I ate every bite. The pita was not too thick and the falafel was warm and oh so flavorful. I was impressed how well it was spiced. The tahini was very good and not overpowering. I can’t wait until my next late lunch break because i’ll be headed right magic carpet for a falafel.

Falafel Inc – Menu with Prices – 1140 Maine Ave SW, Washington

If you want a filling meal that won’t break the bank, this is a great place to get cheap and delicious food. This Falafel Inc. location opened during spring of 2019 at the wharf. Note that similar to its other location, there are no areas for seating. All orders are for takeout but there are some places to sit and eat around the wharf. One of the reasons I wanted to try their food was because I heard almost all their menu items were $3. I was amazed to hear I could get a meal at that pricing. Not only that but their proceeds go towards helping refugees! It all sounded too good to be true so I had to come check it out for myself. I walked in around 6PM on a Sunday. Luckily there was no wait. And indeed everything on their menu was $3! That includes falafel sandwiches and side items such as hummus, zaatar fries (or chips), pali salad, tabouli salad, cucumber salad, pita bread (3 pack) or falafel (6 pack). Drinks were $2-$3. The only thing in the menu that was $4 was the falafel bowl. Sauces are free and include garlic white, falafel white, red, mazbout, habibi, and invisible sauce. I ended up ordering a falafel sandwich with zaatar fries. You can opt for zaatar chips too which are pita chips covered in zaatar seasoning. I watched the staff make my meal in front of me. Staff was friendly and all the food ingredients looked fresh in quality. I couldn’t believe my total came to about $6. Sauces were on the side in large bottles. You can get a variety of them to-go in little cups. I wanted to try all the sauces so I ended up getting all of them, oops. As for the food… The zaatar fries were delicious! The texture was crispy and all you could ever want in a fry. The seasoning was exactly what I expected for zaatar, a little sour and tangy. Sounds a bit weird but if you have never had zaatar seasoning before I highly recommend you try it, the overall combination is delicious. Unfortunately I could not dig into my falafel sandwich until I got to my hotel – so I was not able to eat it at peak quality. Nonetheless it was very tasty! The falafel sandwich consists of a pita pocket stuffed with falafel, red cabbage, cucumber, tomato, and some sauces. I believe the menu said tahini and red sauce. The ingredients were fresh and I didn’t feel unhealthy eating it, so that was a plus! I highly recommend dipping the fries into the sauces. I was able to try all the sauces but some of the sauces were not memorable to me. So far my favorite sauces were the garlic white and the red sauce. The garlic white was not too thick or creamy, it had a runnier consistency than I had expected – but still very delicious with the perfect garlicky taste to compliment the sandwich. I also liked this sauce best with my fries. The red sauce was tangy and a little spicy – it added the right amount of heat to my sandwich. Overall I was pleasantly surprised I could get such great quality food for a cheap price, while also contributing to a good cause at the same time! Falafel Inc. is really doing things right. My only complaint is that it would have been nice to have seating and it is a bit tiresome to get to the restaurant itself. The wharf is busy and full of traffic, it is difficult and time consuming to enter the wharf area, find parking, and leave the wharf. As a Washington D.C. tourist had I known it would be this difficult to get to the restaurant this would not be the first place on my list to try out. I’m really glad I got to try this place out, but I recommend not to expect anything mindblowing. But do expect to get a reliably tasty meal for a good price. I think it is a good place to check out especially if you’re on a budget or want something quick and convenient to get at the wharf. If I’m ever in the area and can find an easier method of getting to the restaurant, I’ll try to come back.

Pita Xpress Mediterranean Grill. – Menu with Prices – 2445 Stirling Rd, Fort Lauderdale

I love this small hole in the wall restaurant. I feel like I am back in the Middle East. All the food here is fresh and delicious. From falafel with chumus and tahini to a mixed grill plate with babaganush and spicy schrug. The pita is always warm and fluffy and just the right consistency to dip into all the salads. There is a salad bar with pickles, pickled carrots and pickled parsnips and cabbage. There also is a bowl of fried pita strips to munch on while waiting for your meal. The portions are extremely generous and are large enough to share. There are also home made soups, fresh french fries and numerous salads. Everything is extremely fresh and tasty. The atmosphere is laid back and people there are always friendly.

Liba Falafel – Menu with Prices – 380 17th St, Oakland

During our usual bout of indecision for a lunch spot yesterday, one of my coworkers suggested Liba, which she found through Yelp. Being saturated with quite a few falafel places around this area, I figured this would just be another falafel place and would be a sufficient lunch. Boy was I wrong! First impression upon walking in was that Liba had a really simple menu. Instead of 10+ items to choose from, you start your decision off with either a salad or pita. After that, you can choose to make it a combo (small or med), or have it as a stand-alone. I opted for the Pita w/ soup combo, which came with a large, crispy pita wrap, and a lentil soup w/ a side of crispy pita chips. You can fill your Pita bread with whatever you like at their salad bar, and top it off with any sauce of your choosing. First impression upon biting into the pita bread was….WOW. Very crispy, warm, and soft at the same time. The variety of toppings I added into the pita gave it a really great burst of flavor in every bite, and the falafal balls were truly the best I’ve ever had! The lentil soup was also really great, and a nice addition to the pita. Aalst however, while normally a huge fan of pita chips, I didn’t find Liba’s pita chips to be all that good (guess no one can be perfect in everything). Service here was great, and everyone was super nice and helpful. Came here around 11:45am, but a few mins later and this place filled up fast. Apparently this is a really popular lunch spot in this area. If anyone is looking for a healthy, vegetarian/vegan place that serves gluten free options, Liba is a great place to check out!

Falafel Time – Menu with Prices – 6475 W Charleston Blvd #110, Las Vegas

Falafel Time is the newest food counter to set up shop inside the CSN food court. Menu has falafel and beef shawarma, available in wraps or plates, with a selection of sides. Tight menu means good execution of everything! Came in for a falafel plate, staff were great about accommodating a couple of adjustments. Falafel was hot and fresh, soft inside and crispy outside- one of the better versions in town. Pita seemed store bought but was amply portioned. I also enjoyed the hummus and house-pickled veggies. $11 vegetarian plate filled me up for lunch with leftover pita to spare. Would love to see menu add chicken shawarma, but if that’s not an option at least offering feta, olives, and that green spicy sauce as add-ons would be awesome.

Baba Ghanoj Spot – Menu with Prices – 339 7th St, Brooklyn

This is the best Middle Eastern food I’ve found in Brooklyn! Everything we tried was fresh and delicious – it was hard to choose a favorite. We ordered: -A custom plate with original babaghanoj, tabouleh, foul, grape leaves, and mohhammarah (came with 1 pita) -Fatoosh salad -Falafel sandwich -Olive salad -Spinach pie The spinach pie came with a nice little salad and pickles on the side and extra hot sauces and tahini came with everything. I also love lemon and almost every dish came with lemon slices on top of it. I called to check about vegan options and they were very kind in answering my questions. The fatoosh and mohhammarah were probably my favorites, while the baba was my partner’s. Regardless, we’d want to eat them all again and try more of the menu! The prices are extremely reasonable as well. We will definitely continue to crave and order this food and hope to stop by in-person, too!

Pita Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 1378 Mt Hope Ave, Rochester

My wife and I found PITA while walking around College Town on a Saturday, and we are so glad we did! By the time we left we had found our new favorite restaurant. We tried the falafel pita (packed with falafel patties and other good stuff), grape leaves with Greek salad, and tabouli (a salad-like dish of chopped mint, parsley, and wheat). Everything was delicious! The menu contains all our favorite middle eastern dishes, and in some cases takes them in a unique and delicious direction. The grape leaves were excellent, subtly spiced with a flavor I hadn’t tasted since eating my Lebanese grandmother’s homemade cooking decades ago. Don’t get me wrong, I like grape leaves from other restaurants, but this is “home cooking” in the best sense. Also the falafel was soft and delicious, among the best I’ve had. Highly recommended!

Aboshosha restaurant – Menu with Prices – 611 E Grand Blvd, Corona

Shawarma is just ok. Their daily special could be confusing. It listed, “Shawarma and fries”.. so I assumed it was a plate, but got a wrap with salad. My fault I guess. I did like the actual wrap though. It was thin, charred and crispy. Less carbs than your usual pita bread. The falafel is in the salty side, but would pair perfectly in a wrap. They have kabobs as well but it didn’t look so seasoned. If I do go back I’ll order the falafel wrap. Service is alright. Dont expect a smiling server. If you’re a typical american, you might get but hurt.

Mr. Kabab Grill Menu with Prices 801 Fairview Rd #4, Asheville

We came here because we never go to this area. We were looking for something a little different than what we usually eat. There aren’t a ton of Mediterranean options around so if we find one that looks good, it’s a must try. The setup was not at all what I expected. You come in and order at the counter. The options are above the counter similar to how a lot of Chinese takeout restaurants do. I got a gyro plate and he got a kabob plate. We also got some baklava to start (which was by the register). So I consider myself pretty versed in food but I felt so dumb that I thought there was one baklava. Did I think you could edit it? Yes, but did I understand that there are so many versions all labeled the same? No! They had sooo many. And the two we had were delicious and both their own things. The food was delicious, loved the gyro meat. It wasn’t too heavy because it looked like they used half a pita, like cut it in half lengthwise to make it lighter. They served it with a great salad and hummus. The hummus was really good, flavorful, and the olive oil they used to garnish was super fruity and flavorful. These interesting pickles were also served but I’m really not sure what they were. We also got he falafel served with tahini. Delicious.
