If I could I would give Kolache Heaven +++ stars. It is seriously THE BEST kolaches I have ever had. This is on my way to work in Coppell and I purchased one for a friend – now the entire office begs, (seriously begs) me to stop on my way for them. Kolache Heaven may actually have a following at my office. Now my co-workers drive many, many miles to go on their own. Do yourself a favor and try the large meat rolls and cinnamon rolls. I agree the proprietors, Duane and Natalie and the rest of the staff are wonderful. The service is beyond words.

Lee’s Donuts Menu with Prices 6201 Matlock Rd, Arlington

Like many local donut shops, Lee’s Donuts is an unassuming storefront in a bland strip mall. But despite the humble appearance, they have absolutely AMAZING donuts. The dough is fluffy, but full enough to chew, a bit like a croissant; if you like Krispy Kreme, you’ll probably like Lee’s. The cake donuts are especially delightful: they have a beautiful crumb, closer to coffee cake than pound cake, and just a touch of lemon that makes them a refreshing treat. The glazes are excellent, neither flaky not overly saccharine. The strawberry glaze tasted like frosting, and is my particular favourite. They have a good variety of glazes and donut types, including sprinkles, caramel, and a very understated but so, so delicious cinnamon sugar. Besides donuts, they have donut holes (yum), bear claws (cinnamon heaven), and sausage rolls (meh). The sausage rolls will be familiar to anyone who frequents kolache places, and the dough is perfect, but the sausage is lacking. They have plain and jalapeno versions, but the plain ones seem to be hot dogs with a cheese infusion, like you can buy at the grocery store. Disappointing. Stick with donuts, and you’ll be happy!

Midtown Donuts – Menu with Prices – 1776 Union Ave, Memphis

Today around 8 am, I ordered from this donut of a place. I was the 1 out of 2 customers in there. I ordered (1) Butter roll and (2) cinnamon rolls. I went to work with the large iced coffee that I also ordered and discovered I had a bag of 15 cups.l and no food. But after everything was done and kinda fixed the 3 cinnamon rolls I received were good as heck!!!

Art Is In Cakes, Bakery & Supply – Menu with Prices – 9807 W Markham St, Little Rock

Unbelievable cake! We were just floored by the artistry and detail of our dragon cake. My wife ordered this for us for our wedding anniversary. Being geeks, we love fantasy and we play Dungeons and Dragons with a large group of friends. We know what dragons are supposed to look like and Natalie nailed it. I can’t imagine it could have been any better. It was hard for us to cut the cake and eat it because it was so impressive, so we took dozens of pictures. All our friends took pictures too so they could show them off. I’m glad we finally cut it because it was delicious! I am still just amazed by what she did with this cake. She is a top tier artist. Should we need another cake, we will know exactly where to go. No one could do it better. Thank you Natalie; you blew us away!

Second Street Bakery – Menu with Prices – 402 2nd St, Jersey City

TFW a food experience far surpasses your expectations. In every freakin’ way: So yeah, hubby, kid, and me were daytripping in my favorite state for such adventures. Yes, it’s true. I heart New Jersey. Youse guys wanna make something of it? But anyway, we were here for the much raved about Cinnamon Bread. You see, I have a thing for all things Cinnamon. Seriously. I don’t get why some enterprising millennial upstart doesn’t open an adorable, instagrammable storefront specializing in artisanal Cinnamon Rolls in NYC. Sure, they could mix it up with different warm spices like cardamom, which also vies for my heart, or maybe get creative with the icing. How does brown butter sound? But at their core they would kill it with perfect, ooey gooey classic Cinnamon Rolls. Think about it. Who needs overpriced, overly sweet Cookie Dough that’s ‘safe to eat?’ Am looking at you, Cookie DO in the West Village. I’ve been eating that sh*t, raw eggs and all, for years and have lived to tell about it. What I’m saying is, bring on Cinnamon Rolls instead! Now back to that Cinnamon Bread. I honestly have no words to express how much I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this! It was jam-packed with cinnamony, buttery, sugary goodness and I think that’s what made it so stunning to me. Most Cinnamon Bread teases you with just a hint of filling, but this… This was direct and to the point. Nothing coy about it. The bread component was good, too, but honestly, it mostly served as a vehicle to help me get this heavenly filling in my mouth. I *think* a loaf runs a mere $2(!). Said loaf isn’t huge, but it’s enough to enjoy with a couple deserving loved ones over the course of a day or two. Also grabbed what I’d describe as the Italian equivalent of a Chinese Hot Dog Bun to toss in the kid’s lunchbox. As if all this weren’t enough, service was very kind and patient in spite of an ever growing line behind us. Bottom line: Do I even have to say it? Get out there and support this place!

Donut Palace – Menu with Prices – 3300 Western Center Blvd #104, Fort Worth

Donut and kolache shop right by Ace Hardware. Inexpensive and gets the craving satisfied. We paid $10 for two glazed, two chocolate donuts, one ham and cheese croissant, and one Jalepeno pig kolache. I enjoyed the plain glazed donut the most after I microwaved it for 10 seconds. If they had been just out of the fryer, I bet it would have been even better. The chocolate donut was meh. I wouldn’t recommend it unless your kid is insisting. The jalepeno pig kolache was very good. The jalepeno certainly came through. I’m giving three stars because I wasn’t blown away at the taste of the donuts and kolaches, but I would return since it is so close to where I live and is reasonably priced.

Isles Bun & Coffee – Menu with Prices – 1424 W 28th St, Minneapolis

What a killer place to grab a sweet treat. This locale serves cinnamon rollls, pecan rolls, caramel rolls, scones, cookies, and a variety of other baked goods including baked oatmeal. They also have a most of what you’d expect drink wise at your typical coffee shop/cafe. I’ve been here maybe 4, 5 times and have always had an enjoyable experience food and service wise, however be prepared to wait 10-20 minutes in line some mornings, particularly weekends. A couple tips…all of the buns are quite hefty as you’ll see, so one is often more than enough, maybe not ? Both the caramel rolls and the cinnamon rolls seem to be a similar cinnamon-based bun. The cinnamon roll itself has been dry for me at a couple points in the past, so it’s been awesome to order a caramel roll and supplement that with frosting provided near the other coffee additions. They have $1.50 coffee if you bring your own mug, otherwise $.50 off any other drink. For some reason, have tried to bring rolls home on a couple of occasions. Today, the smell was intoxicating in my cold car and I just had to scarf one. In doing so created quite the frosting imprint on my face and nose which I only discovered at home after driving through traffic and speaking with a couple neighbors. No shame, it was worth it!

Yoder Meats – Menu with Prices – 798 N West St, Wichita

What they say! Taste The Old Fashioned Flavor ? It’s a joke of a meat butcher shop! The meats Beef Chicken Turkey It’s all delivered via truck and none of the meats are home grown from Yoder Ks.Its all supplied through all the big meat companies and pre packaged.Yes they cut the meat up out of packages but it’s not a real meat locker where they have meat hanging in the back! I wasn’t impressed and you will see that it all taste the same plain.Nothing old fashioned about it. Yes they have different kinds of cheese to cinnamon rolls that come from the main office in Yoder Ks but if you want the real experience drive to Yoder! Customer service is terrible cause all they seem to hire is young people who don’t represent the company very well.Bad attitudes with being very wasteful with the products they are supposed to be selling. I have walked into this location only see them vaping on those ecigs I wonder what they do when customers don’t come in. My viewpoint is they should hire some professional people to run this business who actually care for what they are promoting/selling of the product! If you visit this location Don’t over pay for something that you can pick up cheaper at your local grocery store!

Big Sky Bread Co – Menu with Prices – 3070 Far Hills Ave # c, Dayton

A fitting name for a bread company. Their breads are soft and fluffy like the clouds in the sky. I’ve had their cinnamon bread, wheat bread, pretzel rolls, and their garlic cheddar bread. The cinnamon bread was great! So much better than Cinnabon. The first part of the roll is perfect. Not too sweet, and super soft. As you get further to the end, the cinnamon only increases. Their pretzel rolls are perfect if you like salted pretzels. They are similar in saltiness. Out of all the baked goods I’ve tried from Big Sky, the pretzel rolls were the only ones that didn’t hold up well after a couple of days. Maybe it was the salt on the bread? Who knows. But by the second day the breads were soggy on the outside. On to their garlic cheddar bread. This bread is the best choice out of the four I’ve tried. So good. It tastes even better toasted.

The Similans Thai Eatery – Menu with Prices – 13005 Lee Jackson Memorial Hwy, Fairfax

I had my first taste of Thai food 15 years ago: Pad See Ew with Beef at a Thai chain (which will remain unnamed), and my taste buds did somersaults at the first bite. But after 15 years of trying Thai here and trying it there, it began to taste about the same. Then came Similans. The best Thai I’ve had in years! On a recent snowy day, we ordered delivery – Pad See Ew with beef (can you tell this is my standard?), Hawaiian Fried Rice, Crispy Rolls, and Party Wings. Within an hour, the food was at our door and everything tasted fresh, hot, and absolutely delicious. The Pad See Ew is some of the best I’ve had in years. Every ingredient – rice noodles, Chinese broccoli, egg, and beef strips – is cooked perfectly on its own and together, the dish comes together beautifully. As many times as I’ve had this dish, it’d been a long time since I’d enjoyed like that. A must! The Hawaiian Fried Rice was a really nice surprise. The curry was light, not at all overpowering, which was important for a rice dish that already has a lot going on, packed with chicken, shrimp, pineapples, cashews, and veggies. A wonderful, comfort dish. The crispy rolls were as good as any you’d find elsewhere, but the wings were pretty special – crispy skin, tender meat, slathered in a sticky sweet and spicy sauce that begs you to lick your fingers. I may have just found my new Thai obsession.

I heart Kolache – Menu with Prices – 6851 Warren Pkwy #105, Frisco

So I’ve been to the other location in Carrollton and tried their stuff. Their kolaches had too much bread and less filling. Which I believe is common among kolache places.. Hence, I did try another kolache place in Plano and they were the same.. Location is on Warren and facing North. It’s next to Gazebo burgers and Subway. iheart Kolache is a franchise and knowing that I tried this place with an open mind. Hoping they are not the same owners as the one in Carrollton. Good yelper right? Once I walked into this place I noticed the euro style interior designs but in low key. They had a wide selection of stuffed kolaches and fruit kolaches. I had a hard time deciding on what to get because they all looked so good. The kind lady at the front recommended the Philly cheese steak kolache. Like I said a lot of the kolaches I’ve had was 80 percent bread. The first bite I took was bread and filling not just bread. That instantly made my taste buds happy and my memories of bad kolaches go away. The meat was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Not too salty or cheesy and not under cooked. We also got fruit kolaches to try (as pictured) and I had the raspberry one. I am a fruit person so I enjoyed the fruit kolache more than the other one. As you can see the ratio between filling and bread is 60 percent bread and 40 percent filling. If it was 50/50 then it would be too sweet. That’s my opinion so I could be wrong don’t take my word. If you’re thinking about the “kolaches” at the donut stores it’s totally different. These are pretty close to danishes but not so flaky. They serve coffee and have a small variety of cold drinks. I personally am not a coffee drinker so I skipped the coffee. iheart Kolache seems pretty new so I’d give them more time to figure out the drink selections. Anyways my experience here changed my thoughts of kolaches. Since it’s way out in far out Frisco a place where I hardly even drive to. I notched it down to a four.. location is important when I am looking for a breakfast place. I’m surprised the reviews below aren’t filtered by the yelp police…

Rock & Roll Sushi – Menu with Prices – 5244 University Pkwy B, San Bernardino

Do people give this place a good rating because it’s one of the only options in the area? This place is a joke. The service is terrible and the rolls are over priced and pathetic. I ordered rolls that are basically over priced California rolls because they are too cheap to actually put tuna, eel etc on the rolls. You have to ask for everything…even wasabi!! What sushi restaurant doesn’t serve you wasabi and ginger…not to mention plates to eat or for your soy sauce? If I can give a negative I would. Do yourself a favor and make the drive somewhere else. It’ll be worth gas rather than spend it on this place.

S & J Bakery – Menu with Prices – 9618 Leopard St, Corpus Christi

S&J’s – So I go downstairs to accounts payable at my workplace. I tell a story of how my wife will wake me up on a Friday at 4 AM, her meal cheat day, to get kolaches. Before I finish the entire room says, “Did you go to S&J’s…..why didn’t you bring us any?!?!” Yes, they are that good. If you love fresh baked bread covering a sausage, ham, etc this is the place for you. Did I mention Cinnamon Rolls? Well they are so good that we have to fight off our carnivorous rescue cat from stealing them. Amazing cinnamon rolls are not for kitties! Worth the drive and your time. Go now!
