Yesterday was our second visit to Kenny’s Burger Joint. The first visit we had an awesome server named Michelle. She is da bomb, if you happen to go here, you have to ask for Michelle! Unfortunately she was not working on Saturday, but Andrea was a good backup… We stopped in to celebrate my Son’s 33rd Birthday! It’s crazy, where does the time go??? This place is SO delicious, everything you can imagine for a change of pace in choice of burgers and their food is all so fresh! Not to mention the burgers are all a half pound, how nuts is that?! But they are worth every bite. My Daughter in Law like the Tuna Steak sandwich and my Son and Spouse love the Mushroom/Brie burger so much, I thought I’d try one too. The first time I visited I had the Cheddar Royale burger, and it was superb So this time I thought I’d join the club and try the Mushroom/Brie burger, bec they went on and on about how good it was, lol. NOT, it was definitely not my cup of tea. I make queso for the family because they love it, me, not so much, so I just make it for them. This burger tasted like a burger w queso on it I’m guessing they have to make it more liquified to put on a burger, but it completely change the Brie’s real flavor. I’d much rather have the Mushroom/Goat cheeseburger from Hoppdoddy’s any day… Enough about me! My Daughter in Law generally loves the Tuna Steak sandwich as it’s made with a big hunk of Tuna, cooked ever so slightly, yum. However, on this visit she couldn’t eat it, they had smeared on the Wasabi as if it was a burger condiment, like you would Mustard or Mayo. So needless to say, it was way too hot I also forgot to mention, we tried the fried pickles on or first visit as well. They are pretty good, I like that they’re not chip like and were fried a little longer so they have this nice fried brown color to them, so good! My Son and Hunny loved their Mushroom/Brie, of course, my Son eating a double patty, yea that’s a pound of beef, whoa. But we ate every bite of our burgers too! He and his wife even had room for an adult shake! They had the “insomniac”, which was quite tasty. But we didn’t have room for another bite of food or drink! So if you’re really hungry and can finish a HALF pound burger w/a yummy GF bun, head on over to the Burger Joint, it is SO yummy and a fair price for all you get to eat!

Johnson’s Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 5200 Monticello Rd, Columbia

Oh my Gosh! You have not had a burger until you have had a Johnson’s Burger. I heard about the burgers on Facebook, so I could not wait to try it. My daughter and I were debating whether we wanted to share one, so glad we decided against it. The Johnson’s burger is a 1/2 pound of beef, seasoned to perfection (not salty) cooked well-done (no pink for me) with the juices flowing through it. With every bite we would look at each other and say, “THIS is a good burger”. I’m embarrassed to admit I ate the whole thing, the young one could not hang, but did finish it up the next day. These burgers exceeded my expectations. Can’t wait to visit them again! Oh yeah, the lasagna and cinnamon rolls are delicious too!

MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes – Menu with Prices – 5365 Alton Pkwy A2, Irvine

MOST RECENT UPDATE: After Mooyah kindly reached out to me again and sent me a gift card to try their burgers again, I decided to change my review from 1 star to 3 stars. The food was better and came out fresh. We had the double cheeseburger, Mushroom Swiss burger, sharable fries, and the Oreo milkshake. The double cheeseburger was a solid good burger and the oreo milkshake was creamy and had lots of oreos mixed in. I also like how they use a potato bun. It’s super soft and goes well with the meat. The Mushroom Swiss burger on the other hand was very bland. It felt like it was missing something like an aioli sauce or something to bring out the mushroom flavor. I’ve had a lot of mushroom burgers and this is by far the blandest. And the fries! The fries omg it wasn’t as hot or crispy on the outside compared to other burger joints. Didn’t taste fresh at all. Still tasted like it was sitting under a heat lamp. They do give a lot though! Overall, the double cheeseburger and the oreo milk shake were the best. I think they need to work on their other burgers a little bit more and definitely on the turn around rate for the fries. You need to have good hot fries to eat with a burger! Not bad Mooyah, you got some good potential. UPDATE: So apparently the owner of Mooyah, Ron Camera reached out to me and told me he would send me a gift card to come back and try the food again. It’s been almost 3 months now and I still have received anything. Some of the other yelpers that received the same email said they never got a gift card too. Wow that’s crazy like you say you want people to try your food again and promise a gift card but never actually send it out? Hella sketchu Oh man we expected so much more than this! This place had good reviews so we decided to try it for dinner tonight but was immensely disappointed!! The fries were lukewarm and tasted like it had been out for hours. Not fresh at all!! We ordered the Bacon Chedder burger and the mushroom Swiss burger. Our buns were cold…like fridge cold wtf. And the patties were dry and Luke warm like they were under the heater for over an hour. The mushrooms in the burger were cold too. Terrible! We paid $25 for food we threw away sauce it was that bad. Carl’s Jr. would have had better burgers and be half the price. This place needs a wake up call

Peppered Pig – Menu with Prices – 11110 Memorial Pkwy SW, Huntsville

Yuuuuuuuuum. Okay, so Peppered Pig is a food truck that primarily stays parked on South Parkway. Had a little bit of a hard time finding it, but just use your GPS to get to Packard’s Antiques and it’ll be waiting for you in the parking lot. There are two patio tables in front of the truck, so there is seating — but it’s very limited, so you may have to eat in your car. Don’t worry, it’s worth it. The menu consists of several fancy burgers, usually loaded with cool and interesting toppings like kimchi or pork belly. If that’s a little too much for you, you can get a Plain Jane; that’s probably what I’d get if the burger of the week hadn’t been a mushroom and Swiss burger. Oh, you can also get a couple other kinds of sandwiches (grilled cheese, chicken sandwich, etc) and catfish tacos. Loaded and plain fries can be added, as well as creme pies for dessert! As I mentioned, I split the mushroom and Swiss burger of the week with my mom. The extremely pleasant lady working the cash register informed us it’ll likely become a permanent menu fixture, which is exciting. We also split an order of Cajun fries. You probably will want to split these sandwiches whenever possible, because I can throw down and the half burger and fries was still gut busting for me at lunch. Oh, but it’s so good though. Absolutely beautiful, beefy, savory, juicy burgers on a perfectly soft bun, more meaty mushrooms, smooth Swiss cheese, and this AMAZING garlicky mayonnaise. It was sublime; definitely one of the best burgers in Huntsville. The fries were cooked super fresh, and were so hot we could barley touch them at first. Very crispy and tasty. My one smaaaaaall complaint is that they could’ve used a bit more of the seasoning on them to give them an extra flavorful punch. But it’s an extremely minor nitpick in the face of a phenomenal sandwich experience. Can’t wait to go back!

Pono Burger – Menu with Prices – 829 Broadway, Santa Monica

We were in desperate need of food and everywhere was crazy busy on a Saturday down by the pier so we did a short walk over to this cool place. They were not busy and got us right in. Very unique burgers and a small, but actually nicely sized restaurant. It was in two parts actually and the outer building looks like a half circle of a farm shed. Really welcoming, clean, and nice. For certain meals they have a beverage suggestion of a beer or a wine. The burgers were very expensive, but good. I actually am not a burger fan, and this burger did not change my mind about that…but everyone else LOVED it. The waitstaff was very friendly. You have to order a side of fries fir your side. I would come back if others were wanting to go, but this would not be my first choice only because I do not appreciate burgers the way other people do.

Skappo Merkato – Menu with Prices – 51 Orange St, New Haven

On a chilly January afternoon, my daughter and I decided to try one on the local eateries near her apartment, rather than venturing too far. We tried Skappo Merkato for lunch and were pleasantly satisfied by the restaurant. It is small with a few tables and a bar with stools and provides a quiet, cozy spot for a quick bite to eat. You order at the counter and, in our case, the meals were brought out when ready; it looks like a family affair. There is also a Skappo Wine Bar around the corner on Crown Street for later meals. My daughter was making her second visit and opted for the Francese salad which has turkey, brie, dried apricots, and sunflower seeds; she substituted black olives for the apricots. She commented that she liked their salads because they are not ‘wimpy’ and actually provide a decent meal. I decided on the Rustica sandwich which includes angus beef meatloaf, apple plum spread, brie cheese, and fried onions. It was a delicious combination of flavors and the meatloaf was delicate and tasty. The rolls are procured from a local bakery and tasted like they just came out of the oven – flaky and delicious. We both opted for a small extra fee to add a drink and chips to our meals. There a shelves with products for purchase that are produced by Skappo. In fact, the apple plum spread on my sandwich was one of their offerings. We did not purchase any of their items, but they look great and there is quite a variety.Cute place with atmosphere and very good food; we’ll be back.

Daq’s Wings & Grill Shreveport – Menu with Prices – 1935 Southern Loop, Shreveport

We stopped in at this little bar and grill while traveling from Arkansas back home to Central Louisiana. The atmosphere was nice and inviting, service was friendly. However, I only gave it 2 stars because the waitress didn’t seem to know much about the menu/food options when asked different questions, the fried pickles I ordered to go with my burger were burnt to a crisp, and the menu listed a fried egg as one of many choices to add to your burger, which I opted for but when I got my burger they had put slices of a boiled egg rather than a fried egg. The burger was good otherwise but the boiled egg in place of what should have been a fried egg, I cannot lie, was an insult! My husband ordered the open-face burger. The menu states thats all burgers are 1/2 lb patties. The open-face burger claims to be 2 patties smothered in gravy, so therefore assuming that this is going to be 2-1/2 lb patties. He even asked the waitress if it was and she said yes that all of their burgers were good size patties, showing him an example with her hands. Well just another disappointment, it must have been 1/2 a lb of meat divided into 2 patties. We were not not satisfied at all and will not likely stop in for a visit if/when passing through this area again.

Viking Burger – Menu with Prices – 11745 Jefferson Ave, Newport News

Based on the reviews and recommendations from locals we visited Viking Burger and the burgers are as described, AWESOME. NOT a chain, but a local business with a distinct niche making great burgers with a Viking theme. The burgers are labeled with an appropriate Norse name and yes, the fries were tasty as well. So what to order? Burgers of course – read the menu not just to get a description of the burgers, but also for the entertainment value. Burgers are truly tasty, and made to order. However, during our visit, our burgers took time (~45 minutes) to grill because they had issues with the grill. Was the wait worth it? YES…but we had to drive back to Northern Virginia (~3 hours away) so the delay was no appreciated. A converted “Weiner World” restaurant, Viking Burger is easy to find off the road, a building that is all roof, not much room is available to eat inside; picnic tables are located outside to dine. No beer is sold so you may want to take the tasty burger(s) back home. If ever in the area again, I plan on stopping by…I hope that the broken grill has been fixed! If not for the long delay, the rating would have been much higher.

Aslan Depot: Barrels & Blending Menu with Prices 1322 N State St, Bellingham

I was headed north to Kamloops BC for a trout fishing trip with my 28 year old daughter when she announced that she wanted to have lunch at the Aslan Brewery in Bellingham. Since that sounded more exciting than a Tim Horton’s stop in BC I agreed. GREAT DECISION! Decided to try their Bacon Bison Burger at a slightly pricey $15. It proved to be one of the finest and tastiest burgers I have had in years. Absolutely wonderful. A beautiful brioche bun filled with a thick juicy bison patty smothered in delectable arugula. It was so good that when we were returning home 5 days later, we both unhesitatingly agreed to stop for dinner at Aslan. It was 6:00 on a beautiful Sunday evening. The place was was crowded to the gills with trendy Bellinghamites yet the service was prompt and surprisingly quick. Ordered the same incredible Bison burger but this time with sides of salad and Waffle Poutine. The Poutine was almost as delectable as the burger with perfectly fried potato waffles swimming in a mushroom cheese sauce (make that gravy). The burger seemed even better than the first visit. The beer is great too.A great place to eat when you find yourself hungry in Bellingham!!

The Burger Bros – Menu with Prices – 806 Riverview Dr Suite B, Kalamazoo

7/27/19 We were really craving burgers and didn’t want to do fast food. We searched burgers in Yelp and found Burger Bros. It was near us so we decided to check it out. MY partner ordered a double cheeseburger with onion, lettuce, and tomato. I ordered a double with BBQ sauce, mushroom, lettuce, and caramelized onions. (I didn’t get the best picture of mine). We also ordered fries to spilt. My partner did not like the fries. They were heavily seasoned and kind of became overwhelming with taste but the burgers were really good. Mine was a little messy but I ordered one with BBQ sauce so, of course, I was expecting it to have a little mess. I loved the mushroom and caramelized onions on it. It was a perfect taste. The only negative thing I would say is that when we drove up. It felt like the whole staff was outside smoking and we walked in and was reviewing the menu and they all came in to go to their areas. Not that I am against staff taking their breaks, but it felt a little weird to watch them go from smoking directly outside the building to going to the kitchen to make our burgers. Atmosphere: There is really no seating on the inside. But it’s not bad to take it to go. It wasn’t that far from my house so we ordered and took it home. Better than any other fast food and it was made fast. Cost: Double Burger $6 Regular Fries $2 Single Burger $4 Overall: I will give them 4 stars. I love the burgers and I will be going back to try a different create your own.

Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers – Menu with Prices – 3220 N 27th St, Lincoln

Went with the family, usual new restaurant buzz. They ordered the Texas toast hot dogs, and I was craving a big burger. Never have I ever been jealous of a hot dog over a burger, until our visit there. My burger was pathetic. It was thinner than any burger I ever had, including the cheapest burgers at McDonald’s for .88 cents… I was more melted cheese than anything… And to pay over $6 for an embarrassment of a burger meal… Freddie’s realizes it’s in Nebraska, right? Maybe that sorry excuse of a burger is considered “good” where beef is a little more scarce, but not here. Never been back, we go to Honest Abe’s across the street, same kind of fries, but their burgers actually contain hamburger meat, plus a ton of other awesome flavors… we get our money’s worth there. Freddie’s is a hard pass from here on out.

Burgermaster Menu with Prices 10606 Northup Way, Bellevue

I finally got to try Burgermaster after driving past it almost everyday from work and wondering why there are so many people there at all times during the day. I can now see why this place is popular. I like the old school feel of the place- you park your car and someone comes up to your car and gets your order. It is definitely a nice change from going through your typical drive thru. The service was great and the food came out promptly. You have the option of either eating in (in your car) or getting it to go. In terms of food- I ordered the Mushroom Burger and added onions. The burger tastes homemade and despite the fact that it is a fast food place, it tasted fresh and reminded me of taste of a burger when you grill it in your backyard. The fries were very good- nice and crispy, not overly salted, great potato flavor (I know that is a silly description, but some fries taste overly seasoned and you can’t taste the potato as well). If I had anything to compare Burgermaster with, it would maybe be Five Guys burgers. I can easily seeing myself coming here for some good burgers, fries, and milkshakes. No nonsense, simple, but tasty.

Next Stop Vegan – Menu with Prices – 1818 Archer St, The Bronx

I’ve been following Next Stop Vegan on Instagram for a while now always impressed with their dedication to bringing vegan options to the Bronx and awareness of what consuming meat does to the environment. I’ve sampled some of their food in the past (specifically their vegan chimi burger) and I was excited to head over to their new brick & mortar. I finally passed by and I have got to say with literally no exaggeration at all: the food here is PHENOMENAL To say that NSV is a welcome addition to the Bronx is a serious understatement. And they along with No Carne (@nocarne on Instagram) are necessary for not just the BX, but for all of us. This is good food with a mission. When I went there I tried out their daily special which was a Truffle Mozzarella Mac n Cheese Mushroom Burger which blew my damn socks off. I was disappointed to find out that it’s not on their regular menu. This has GOT to CHANGE! This burger was honestly one of the heartiest and tastiest burgers I’ve ever had. Period. It would be criminal not to have this burger available to the residents of the Bronx every single time Next Stop Vegan is open. The mac n cheese was creamy, the truffle was subtle and flavorful and the mushroom was made perfectly. They NEED to HAVE this on the menu ALL. THE. TIME. Until they do you’re gonna have to hope they bring it back as many times as possible. The other items I tried (and thankfully it’s a staple) was their Patacon chimi burger with their house made pattie, cabbage, tomatoes, red onions and a housemade chimi sauce to die for. This one wasn’t only EPIC and delicious but it damn near put me to sleep. You can never go wrong with a burger if your bread is a massive plantain. I also tried out their pastelito (not pictured here) which is a must grab when you visit here. All in all, this place blew my mind. I knew the food was gonna be good but it never gets boring to have your expectations exceeded.
