We stumbled across this gem in the far east of El Paso the Friday after Thanksgiving, and I’m so glad we did. It has great lighting, music, and awesome beer selections of from Texas, New Mexico, and California. The $6 Food Truck has a great menu for snacks and full meals. The lounge area in the back with a projector screen is great also. We didn’t go out to the enclosed patio, but it also looked great and later, when a DJ came, the volume was a bit louder bit we could still hold a convo or dance around in your chair. This is my favorite kind of place. They’ve only been open 10 weeks, and if it’s this good early on, one can only see it getting better. Definitely check it out for a beer or a growler fill

Binky’S Full Lottery Menu with Prices 1180 SE 3rd St, Bend

$6.50 GROWLER FILLS!?! Local Craft Beers!?! Seriously? This place is amazing! I don’t know how they do it, but I can get a growler filled for $6.50 and they have a great selection. I get Deschutes Brewery’s “Fresh Squeezed” for less than I can get it at Deschutes. I can get Boneyard Beer Company’s “RPM IPA” for less than I can get it at the Boneyard brewery! The staff is friendly and efficient. I’ve always been able to walk right up and place my order. A line is unheard of. The inside is nice and clean, and always quiet. I guess this place is using the low-priced growlers to bring in more customers for their lottery and video poker machines. I’ve never used them, but they seem to always be in use! I mentioned the $6.50 growler fills, (the cheapest in town as far as I can find), but what if you are NEW TO TOWN (like I was) or just visiting and don’t have a growler? Oh, no problem, these guys will sell you one AND fill it with your choice of suds for just $8.50! Where else can you buy a growler for $2.00 and have it filled for another $6.50? No where, that’s where. Go in and check these guys out. I’ve talked to the owners a time or two (mom and son team, I think) and they have just taken over ownership earlier this year. I’d love to see the place stick around (for obvious reasons), so the next time you need to get your growler filled, give them a shot! (There weren’t any reviews yet, so I thought I’d help them out with some pics too.)

High Cotton Brewing Company – Menu with Prices – 598 Monroe Ave, Memphis

July 17, 2019 at 1818 hours: First and foremost, I think the blonde “bartender”working behind the counter needs to find a new occupation. I use the term “bartender” loosely due to the fact that it’s not very difficult to tend a bar when all you do is drop tap handles. As soon as I walked into the tap room, I could smell her resting *blank* face. Since she decided to ignore me, I was assisted by the shorter brunette bartender. I asked her if she had white growler lids so I could get my growler filled. She advised that they did not have the white lids, but she would attempt to jury-rig the ones that they had onto my growler. Now the fun part! So, I walked out to my car, and retrieved my growler. Now, I will note, most breweries will fill growlers from other breweries as long as you’re buying their product. I mean, come on, it’s money in the establishments pocket, right? Well, I was apparently wrong with this assumption of High Cotton, because when I walked in, they told me that they couldn’t fill another breweries growler- pffff, like it’s some kind of mortal sin! I then make a joke saying that the brewery is currently 0-2. Well, apparently that didn’t fly well with Miss Blondie Locks because she felt the need to send affirmations back towards High Cotton and tell me that I was indeed 0-2. So much for the customer being right… I will say High Cotton was my favorite brewery but, unfortunately, I will not be going back there again. P.S.

Trubble Brewing – Menu with Prices – 2725 Broadway, Fort Wayne

There is FAR too much competition out there to take on an attitude like I got. Everyone makes mistakes. Own it and move on. I enjoyed my brunch. If I was rating the food it would be five stars. I had the breakfast bowl. It had biscuits and gravy, bacon, and a fried egg. I enjoyed every bit of this part of my visit. The bacon was thick and smokey, the gravy was creamy and seasoned well, and the egg was perfect. I ordered the Mexican lager with my meal. I was happy with it enough to order a growler fill for a family gathering I was heading to. This is where my experience with Trubble goes south. It took a minimum of 15 minutes to get my growler back. The waitress apologized several times. I wasn’t in a hurry so I told her no worries. She came out and said the keg blew and they were changing it. Again, no worries. The growler went straight in to a cooler of ice and I got to my family gathering 15 minutes later. I poured my first beer out of the growler and the first thing I noticed was how “muddy” it was. The second thing I noticed was it was nearly flat. I dumped it and poured another. Muddy and flat. I was disappointed but I know how things like this happen. I thought I would message the brewery and let them know about my experience. See the attached photo. SOMEHOW, it was all my fault. You can tell they were 100% confident in that because they didnt even lead with anything close to an apology or even any empathy whatsoever. I got the Tommy Boy “What did you do????” I gave them two stars because I have had much better and been treated much better by many other breweries. Like I said, there is too much competition out there to be treating customers poorly. #FAIL

5 Points Growlers Menu with Prices 3687 Atlanta Hwy, Athens

Decent selection of beer but that should be a given when walking into a growler shop. This review will simply be about the things that led to this place only getting two stars. 1. Fewer options than most growler places I’ve been 2. The employee who was working was unfriendly and seemed stand offish 3. 50 cent for each sample and only 4 samples max (how is this even a thing at a growler spot??) 4. If you have your own growler that isn’t from them and it isn’t clean there is a 50 cent charge to clean it While 50 cent is obviously a drop in the bucket it’s the fact that they charge anything for those things in the first place. Been to better but at least they had some beers that we often don’t have where I’m from.

Lone Star Taps & Caps – Menu with Prices – 6115 Camp Bowie Blvd #114, Fort Worth

Understand. I’m a beer nut. Just scroll back on a few of my reviews and you will understand. I think I’ve been to so many breweries n craft beer spots that I’m not easily impressed. Now I don’t mind that most of the bartenders here do not let you taste any of the Taps without paying for a 4oz taster. That’s becoming more of the norm at these type of places. I do mind that until the third time I was here I didn’t even know there was a Rewards program. By this time I had spent probably a good $60 here. Not only that. Only certain bartenders ask for your Rewards phone number. I have forgotten at least another two times that I went to the counter and maybe paid cash for 1 round so I’m out a good bit of points. I don’t like that there’s nowhere to kind of sit around the counter. I’m kind of used to that at craft beer places in DFW like Bru City and Pouring Glory. You can interact and learn so much more about beers that way. There is community seating but the five times I’ve been there most of the people there come with a group and kind of look at you funny when you ask them about the beers they are drinking. Just not what I’m used to. Most craft beer drinkers are very Interactive. No food here but it is in a shopping plaza but with the Starbucks and kind of high end seafood place. I didn’t see a whole lot to grab and bring back. The prices to me are just a little bit high unless you get a growler filled. I have been at what time I considered to be happy hour and I wasn’t notified of any drink specials or Growler fill specials so I’m guessing they don’t have any? Most beers that I drink are $6 and up for a pint so doesn’t really make me come out my way to come here except it’s only 3.3 miles from my hotel. My other issue is if you open a tab they put a $25 hold on your card that takes about 3 days to clear. This is an addition to whatever your tab is. So for example I had an $11 tab but a $36 hold on my card with the $25. That just seems excessive. I don’t mind $5 or even a $10 hold but for a beer place I think that’s high and if every place puts a $25 hold on your card over the weekend then you are going to have a lot of money deducted from your bank account pending til Tuesday or Wednesday. No one mentioned this when I opened a tab. Management was very quick to respond to this but you still have that amount pending on your account for 3 days. Since it is closer than Bru City or Bru Stadium I am hoping it will grow on me while I’m here but it’s just not my style

Dayton Ballroom Dance Club – Menu with Prices – 2150 Arbor Blvd, Dayton

This is the best place to take Ballroom dance classes! The instructors are patient and helpful. They making learning fun! You don’t have to have a partner to take lessons. There are always just enough people to fill in as your “partner”. During dance classes, you rotate partners. This gives you a chance to learn from each other. Those who are more advance in some of the dances are always willing to help teach the dance to you. Everyone has so much fun! It is great exercise too! My family has actually noticed I have lost some weight–all do to dancing! Come on out and try dancing with us! You won’t regret it! I will be looking for YOU on the dance room floor!

The Casual Pint – Menu with Prices – 8718 Countryside Plaza, Omaha

To some, this place will seem to be just another Blatt or Old Chicago make-over but don’t be deceived. This franchise place is serious about craft and microbrew beers. The line of taps is very good but you will want to browse their selections of individual bottled and canned beers which you can drink on-site. In some ways, it is like being at BeerUtopia but here you can actually drink the beer! They have packaged beer and may break it open for you to try a bottle or can. They also have a selection of food to eat as well, including chili and pretzels. They sell “growlers” but these are actually 32 ounce rounders. This is because the place is not a brewery establishment (an odd feature of Nebraska law). They have these rounders half priced on Fridays. They also have crawlers which are 32 ounce cans. Very convenient if you do not want to commit to buying an expensive growler, but their Club has an answer for that. They have a good selection on tap but the prices by the glass tend to be on the high end, $5 or more. You can get 5 once glasses of beer too. Buying bottled or canned beer is less expensive so I highly recommend you check out those offerings which are very diverse. In addition, the atmosphere is calm and homey. Since they don’t sell liquor, you don’t run in to the shot-glass party types so much. This is a good place to hit on your day off or after work. Also, come summer, they do have the ability to open up the side of the place to the great outdoors. Lots of good things here. If you visit this place on a monthly basis, you will want to download their app to earn points for free credit! If you visit weekly, you will want to consider their Brewmasters Club, a subscription service which comes with a free growler and fill. Ask servers for details.

Hangout Bar And Drive Thru – Menu with Prices – Pharaohs Shopping Center, 4703 Ayers St, Corpus Christi

This is a very unique local bar. You can drive into a part of it with carside service and never get out of your car. You can also park your car and go inside to enjoy your favorite brews with friends or set outside on their enclosed screened patio and enjoy table service. If you live in the area you will run into someone you know.

Sivas Hookah Lounge Menu with Prices 794 Juniper St NE, Atlanta

This place was crazy sexy cool! I think it is a little more catering to the 20-30 year old’s. I saw everyone in there from ages 8 to 80! OK, when I say 8 years, I mean 20 years and up, but you get it. I do enjoy that they are 2 levels at this place and the music is slightly different on each level. The food is freaking delicious and arrives at the table quickly! I went there to meet a long time great friend and some are her friends and it was so crowded but even being crowded you can still get a seat. We actually stood for a while so we can converse w our friends but by the time we actually went to get on waiting list, we were sat in less than 2 minutes! We sat outside on the outdoor patio which was very crowded and there were TV’s in addition to the DJ/ music and patio was enclosed but yet connected to in uncovered outdoor portion. Now this place is a hookah lounge 1st so of course the air was different. Not my preference but I can’t hold that against the place, I chose this life! Will I visit again, probably not but I must admit it’s a very nice place for younger individuals especially those interested in hookah.

The Zoo Amphitheatre – Menu with Prices – 2101 NE 50th St, Oklahoma City

Lived here my whole life and never been to this venue before last week. Such a cool location. There are some idiosyncrasies you should know about though. First, requirements for what you bring in are strict until they’re not. Definitely no ice chests, outside food or drink, pets, purses bigger than a clutch, or umbrellas (rain or shine). On some of their printed materials it says no blankets allowed. This rule was done away with in late 2017, so come with a plastic-lined one. On their prints and online it still says in all caps NO CHAIRS, but when I attended last week there were chairs everywhere. This is annoying because they have a bit of an ant problem. My girlfriend is allergic and came home with big welts. I was just itchy. Bug repellent may have helped, but we couldn’t really tell. Deet is for mosquitos. It wasn’t terrible, but we both got 4-5 bites before we stood up. Wish I’d known about the chair policy changing. It seems like it’s either a word of mouth thing or it depends on the show? The inconsistency is annoying. Anyway, those are the pitfalls. It is, however, still a great spot. They have cheap beer everywhere and a full bar in a few places. $8 for a regular drink and $16 for a double, which is pricey, but pretty standard for music venues. Bathrooms are what you might expect. Kinda gross, but bearable. Expect long lines (15 minute wait) between sets. Volume is high, but not immediately painful. I’d bring volume-reducing earplugs to be safe, but I’m an old man inside. Sounds great though. Seems like the General Admission area is a fun place. Depending on the music you go to hear people will dance in the aisles, which is a blast to do and watch. This is a great spot. Just be careful about what you bring in.

The Gateway – Menu with Prices – 1301 16 Avenue NW, SAIT Campus Centre, Calgary

The Gateway is one of my favourite venues in Calgary, not least of all because they bring in great acts. I love that this campus bar is small enough to fill with music and atmosphere, while also big enough to attract musicians like Mother Mother, Two Hours Traffic, and Yukon Blonde, and way, way more! Because it is on SAIT campus, the crowd is fairly young but if you’re there for the music, who cares? I’ve only had lunch here but the service is great and if you’re worried about a mass of students (or getting a specific table), planning lunch after 12:30 never fails. The food is what you would expect for pub fare: tasty, reasonably priced and with just enough variety to be interesting. The lunch special is a great deal, you can get lunch and a beer for under $15. The Gate is also a great place for a post-work beer, though it can be busier and louder at some times of years that others. Such is life with a campus bar! I’ve only had great service at the Gate and it really helps that the servers are attentive regardless of customer gender, something I don’t always experience in Calgary. The location, the service, the music, the food and the general atmosphere of The Gateway make it a fantastic place, whether you’re a student or not. Take advantage of the patio if you can, the view of downtown Calgary is badass.

CLARKSVILLE DANCE CLUB – Menu with Prices – 430 Warfield Blvd, Clarksville

I love the Clarksville Dance Club. It has been my favorite place to learn new dance styles. Patricia is an amazing dancer and instructor. She was always able to break down dance moves so I could better understand how to do it. And there is always a great group of people to partner up with. I no longer live in the area and I for sure miss dancing here.
