I got the Lamb and Cauliflower kebab sandwich and a Chicken mini gyro to split for lunch. Both were delicious. The meat in both was very tender (but not over tenderized), high-quality, and juicy with just the right amount of char. Sauces and veggies were different for both. Lamb came with beet hummus, harissa mayo, and slaw. Chicken gyro came with tzatziki, tomato, onion, and cucumber. Lamb was earthy and sweet, and the chicken was bright and tangy. Flatbread was legit, not the spongy floor mat, Americanized kind, but thin, bubbly, and chewy with good flavor. There was bit of a wait on a Saturday afternoon, but it was 100% worth it for fresh and delicious food.

George’s Gourmet Grill Southpointe – Menu with Prices – 2801 Pine Lake Rd Suite W, Lincoln

We noticed that Gourmet Grill moved into the space that HF Crave occupied, and wanted to check it out. We were glad we stopped in! We came around 11:30 on a Sunday morning, and the place was reasonably full already. Despite only one person working (taking orders and cooking), he busted his butt and our food was fresh and delicious. He also provided great service! We tried the spicy chicken gyro, the chicken tikka korma, the spicy gyro, and the ground beef kebab. The kebab was delicious, and it comes with rice and salad. My hubs loved the dressing! The spicy chicken gyro was awesome!! It was shredded and in a tasty sauce. The spicy gyro was good as well, but had a stronger lamb flavor (in case you’re used to beef mixed with lamb and don’t like the gaminess). The only thing we wouldn’t order next time is the chicken tikka korma. The chicken was over cooked and the flavor just doesn’t measure up to Sultan’s Kite for that one. Another plus: perfectly seasoned and crispy crinkle-cut fries!

Albee’s NY Gyros – Menu with Prices – 2260 W 18th Ave, Eugene

Having live in NY for many years and being a devoted fan of the lamb gyro, I went into this establishment for the first time last week with high expectations. I was met by very friendly staffers who did not disappoint. Along with the lamb gyro I also ordered up a garlic fry which was big enough to split with my sister and they were very good. The gyro was large enough to be filling on it’s own so the split on the fries still worked out to be a bit more then we could eat and the gyro itself really packed in the Greek flavors I have loved and known in NY. Good job fellas, if I ever make it back to Oregon, I’ll definitely hit ya up again.

China Rose Chinese Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 9536 Antioch Rd, Overland Park

China Rose is my go-to for when that Americanized Chinese food craving hits. While I have never dined in, I can attest that the employees that take my order are very polite. Why is China Rose my go-to? Well, they actually answer their phone when I call to place an order, and their food is up to my standards. Growing up in Americanized Chinese restaurants, I can say that their food is the closest to how I like it. My way to tell if an Americanized Chinese restaurant is legit is through their chicken fried rice and crab rangoon. I will never understand why savory crab rangoons are a thing – sweet is the way to go. Your life will be changed when you’ve had one. China Rose’s crab rangoons are just a tad too sweet, but still pretty damn good. Their chicken in their fried rice is always tender, and their rice is not mushy. I hate when you get tough, dried out chicken and mushy rice at other places. This place knows how to do their basics. The one thing that I cannot recommend here are their meat wontons. I found them to be flavorless and just not at all good. My main gripe is that their prices are a bit more expensive than I like to pay, but still fairly competitive for the area. I’ll definitely keep coming around for that Americanized Chinese food fix while I’m in the area. Overall: 4/5 Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Atmosphere: 3/5

DCG – District Chicken & Gyro – Menu with Prices – 3147 Dumbarton St NW, Washington

Was super curious how a spot could have a perfect score with so many reviews, so I went to check it out. Thanking my Yelp Army for putting me on to this one. It’s good. Very basic menu. No frills. Meat – lamb or chicken. Bread – pita. Salad. That’s it. Oh, and soda pop/water. About 6 menu items and two of them…the soup and fries…the owner, Tariq, said “sucked” (lol) so he stopped selling them. More about Tariq later. Given the word “gyro” is in the DBA name, you’d think that’s what you’re getting, and you are – sorta. It’s really a riff on a gyro. An Afghan gyro, if you will. Afghanistan is where Tariq is from so it’s his interpretation. That white sauce you see isn’t tzatziki sauce, for example, although it looks like it. It’s mayo based. Not yogurt. Everything else is relatively familiar enough to legitimately get away with calling it a gyro – including the pita bread. I tried both… lamb only….and the lamb + chicken. I ordered the combo gyro to go and ate the lamb- only at one of the tables outside. When Tariq showed up I was still outside eating and struck up a conversation with him. His a very funny and engaging guy. Even let me sample another dish, which was chicken/lamb over rice with a salad sandwiches in the same pan. I asked for some HOT in it – which it was. Another winner dish. The rice is really good and a great base upon which to add the protein and build from. The food is a bit more expensive than the simplicity suggests, but then again, that’s Georgetown for ya. Good food if you’re drunk, high, or otherwise looking for some good stomach-filling goodness. I’ll be back.

Brother’s Grill – Menu with Prices – 5900 N Kings Hwy Unit G, Myrtle Beach

Although you might not expect it from the outside, Brother’s Grill serves up delicious, authentic Greek food. When I first told my girlfriend we were going here, she thought we were at the wrong place since it is decorated like a sports bar with some Italian paintings. We were quickly seated by our waitress, who was bubbly and enhanced our dining experience. We ordered a chicken gyro and a traditional gyro and an appetizer of barbecue chicken wings. The wings came with about 14 pieces and they were cooked and seasoned perfectly. You couldn’t ask for better chicken wings. My girlfriend is Greek and we have eaten at countless Greek restaurants up and down the east coast, and those gyros were by far the best. The pita was warm and substantial enough to hold together the fillings without being tough or crunchy. The traditional gyro meat seemed to be a beef/lamb blend with an even sear around each piece. The chicken was juicy and well seasoned. The tzaziki was undoubtedly life changing. Often tzaziki is inauthentic and watery but this yogurt based condiment was the perfect addition to the gyros (we even ordered extra to dip the fries and wings in!). Our server went out of her way to accommodate our to go order of chicken orzo soup despite them being out of containers. Additionally, two ladies came in for $2 tequila shots and ordered what might be the most appetizing and largest burger we have ever seen. We look forward to trying the ultimate burger and coming back for dinner and saganki! A perfect meal for a 100° Myrtle Beach day.

Saffron Grill Menu with Prices 616 S Broadway, Baltimore

This place has been open a week when we visited the other day. Serving up a variety of American-Pakistani food. If you are not a fan of Lamb, gyros, kebabs, this may not be the place for you. Saffron was a very authentic feel and taste from its decor to its gyro platter. Specials: Saffron will be known for the kebabs, gyros and samosas. Very authentic with a lot of food for the price. Food: Arriving with six people for lunch we all had very different stuff from Gyro platters with lamb and one with chicken to lamb chops and more. All the food was good and I believe will get better as time goes on. Service: Fantastic!! Overall: I would give it a 4.5. This place has a lot of potential and the owner and staff were all very very pleasant. With it being new I think they have a great start and will take suggestions that will help them even more as time goes on.

Little Athens Gyro – Menu with Prices – 666 W Tennessee St # 5, Tallahassee

I dunno the guy that served the gyros was a nice guy but his gyros made me break a solemn rule..Never buy a gyro from a place that does not have the gyro meat on a spit and they cut it fresh from the gyro meat roll in front of you. I know this because my first job was in a gyro shop Gyro King Pittsburgh Pa. The pita was cracked and hard i smelled smoke like the exhaust system was off and the lettuce was not fresh not to mention whats a gyro without cucumber sauce?

Elhariri Hot Halal food Menu with Prices 301 Ontario St, Albany

The best lamb around!! This is my new favorite place for lamb- it is by far the best quality you’ll find. With the lamb over rice and the lamb wrap, you’ll get your lamb sliced off right in front of you- that’s how fresh the meat is. The meat is well seasoned and has a great texture. For the quality of lamb, the price is reasonable and definitely worth a try! Tip- try not to come too late in the day or there won’t be much lamb left and the core was significantly softer in texture- not very tasty.

The Simple Greek – Menu with Prices – 1600 Crossways Blvd Suite E, Chesapeake

I’ve eaten at The Simple Greek quite a bit in the past couple of weeks. Their gyro bowls provide a filling lunch option without being too heavy on your stomach. All the ingredients are fresh and delicious as well; furthermore, I can attest that their lamb gyro, chicken gyro, and Mediterranean shrimp bowls are all bomb. The food is good, but what keeps me coming back to The Simple Greek is their impeccable customer service. On my first visit I came in about 30 minutes before they were closing (which was my bad), and I got a Brown rice bowl, everything was delicious but the brown rice tasted dried out and ruined the taste of entire bowl for me, when I went to the counter to explain my discontent, Maiya, was very friendly and had no problems remaking the bowl with a fresh batch of rice (even though they were about to close). Every time I have visited thereafter Maiya has been there with a smile and has really looked out to make sure all my needs are met. In fact, every worker I have encountered has been very friendly and helpful. Overall, The Simple Greek provides good food and even better customer service.

Hong Kong Bakery & Deli – Menu with Prices – 21720 Vermont Ave, Torrance

Whenever I take a day trip to the South Bay, Hong Kong Bakery is always my first stop, for lunch or a quick dessert. I’ve been buying cakes and dining at the bakery for lunch since the 80’s and became immediately addicted to their white strawberry cake. Sweet white frosting, light white spongy cake with strawberry and white filling. Absolutely refreshing and delicious for an in between the meal snack. Hong Kong has quite a variety of Asian desserts, my wife’s favorite being the fresh spongy steamed white rice cakes. It’s worth the drive from Orange County to pick up a box of these particular rice cakes, as this variety is hard to find down there.

SILSILA THE FLAMING TANDOOR – Menu with Prices – 819 N Killingsworth St, Portland

Went here last night with coworkers and it was awesome. They were able to accommodate our group of 8 easily. They gave us some kind of flatbread with sweet/savory red and spicy/herby green dips to start, then checked on us again soon after and got our drink orders. Some of our drinks came out with chilled glasses, some already poured. Food was flavorful and portions were quite decent. Each entree came with a plate of basmati rice. We got the chicken biryani, lamb saag, chicken saag, chicken tikka massala, veggie korma, and regular and garlic naan. They had extra plates and utensils for us to eat family style. Everything was excellent but my favorites were the lamb saag, korma sauce, and the biryani. I ordered a mango shake which was thick, sweet and soooo good- it reminded me of mango shakes I used to get in the Philippines made with Philippine mangoes. My coworkers couldn’t help taking sips also. Service was good and they were super friendly. They refilled our water glasses frequently. The staff came to check on us a couple of times during and then after the meal to ask how everything was. A couple of very minor things for improvement: -beer itself could’ve been a little colder -the food and my mango shake took some time to come out, so timing could use a little work, but like I said everything came out delicious Overall so happy we found this place! Wouldn’t hesitate to come here again.

Yanni?s Greek Gyros – Menu with Prices – East Battlefield Road, 3014 S National Ave, Springfield

I took my friend here for lunch to celebrate her birthday, and we were not disappointed. The place is clean and smelled like Greek heaven when we walked in. Our server was pleasant and was able to answer our questions about menu items, which I appreciated. We shared an order of the falafel appetizer, which was hot, crispy, and delicious. We each got our own mixed gyro platter – loaded with generous piles of lamb/beef and chicken, with onion, lettuce, and tomato, with tzaziki and feta on top. Two hot, fresh pitas cut in half were on each side of the platter. The tzaziki sauce was delicious, and I should have asked for more to take with my leftovers. I ate until I was full and still had two lunches’ worth of meat when I was finished. I will definitely be back because there is so much more on the menu that I would like to try. I definitely recommend it!
