I went for lunch with two friends and was excited to try this place, Ive driven by for forever but never had the opportunity to stop. We walked in and there was one other table. Not totally surprising since it was mid-week, but I still expected to see more people since it was lunch time. We were greeted right away and shown to a table, our waitress was very personable and nice. We got our drinks and then proceeded to order but before we could say what we wanted we were informed that “the slow chef was working” so we don’t want to order anything too complicated. We said we had 2 hours for our lunch break and she let us know that might be cutting it close. I asked if sushi was out of the question and she let me know that there probably wasn’t time. Ok. One friend ordered noodles, one ordered ramen, and I ordered the lunch special bento box. I substituted the sushi in the bento for additional gyoza to cut down on prep time. My two friends food came out really quickly. Mine not so much (I was actually able to run back to work and then return before my food came out of the kitchen), there were probably 3 tables in the place by now. When it did arrive it was….meh? The dressing on the salad was a throwaway- was it ranch? Who knows? It was white. the gyoza was good (good thing since I got extras!), the rice was okay, and the chicken was…weird. Maybe if they would have had 3 hours to prep lunch it would have been better? Maybe not? Guess I will never know.

Sumo Sushi and Japanese Restaurant Menu with Prices 3174 Tilghman St, Allentown

Came here with friends for lunch. There were about 10 of us, and service is commendable despite the large group. We were able to return to work timely. . . Two of us had the bento box. I had the salmon, my favorite bento, and it is comparable to others, but nothing extraordinary. The shrimp tempura though was crunchy; I could hear the crunch from across the table. Everyone was pleased!. . The best part? Sumo gets A++ for presentation. Even simple sushi was well presented. Someone in our group ordered the fire dragon sushi which came with very attractive open flames!. . The restaurant appeared clean with enough open space in between tables. There appears to be a couple of rooms at the back of the restaurant also.. . canâ??t wait to go back!

Akaya Sushi, Izakaya & Ramen – Menu with Prices – 1310 W Campbell Rd #114, Richardson

My husband and I go here every other week. We absolutely love this place. The lunch special between 11-3pm is quite a bank for your buck. I typically always get the bento box special which comes with rice, the meat entree, 5 pieces of sushi, 2 pieces of gyoza, soup, and salad. Additionally, you get free edamame as well. When my husband and I don’t come here for lunch, we typically order one of the speciality sushi rolls available. All the ones we have ordered (which is about 8-10), I personally recommend the ahi tower!! I don’t know what it’s made of, but it’s absolutely amazing. It tastes real good. 10/10 recommend. I highly recommend this restaurant. I never ever review on Yelp, but Akaya definitely deserves to get recognized for their good food!

Michi Ramen – Menu with Prices – 1014 W Sunset Rd #1018, Henderson

Amazing!! I was highly impressed with the entire experience from walking into the restaurant to leaving. Everything from the food to the customer service/hospitality was fantastic. My girlfriend and I both ordered Gyoza and the Black Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen. The Gyoza came out quickly and was honestly one of the better potstickers I have had at an asian restaurant, and you would think there’s not really much you can do to make a potsticker “delicious” but it was just that. I actually had to order another set of potstickers because it was so good. Our server was very quick and attentive and noticed when we were done with the appetizer and immediately took the plates off our table so that we would have more elbow room. Our ramen came out soon after and my goodness it was great. I’ve had my fair share of ramen at many different locations, but this easily stood out as one of my favorites after just my first bite into it. The noodles were the right texture and cooked right, the pork had great flavor, and the broth was incredible. On top of the great food, our server was incredibly hospitable and checked in with us regularly, refilling our sodas and gave us our check promptly without us having to wait too long. The server and chefs all waved us goodbye as we exited the restaurant. I am not a Las Vegas/Henderson native, but the next time I come back out here to visit my girlfriend, I’ll definitely make sure to set aside some time for some good ramen again here!

Saki Teriyaki – Menu with Prices – 4795 E McKinley Ave, Fresno

Finally, some great Japanese food in Fresno. Not only was the food spot on in taste, and preparation but also the staff was kind and passionate about their work. My wife had the shoyu ramen which took a bit to come out, but had a delicious stock and was altogether very enjoyable. I went with the combo plate which came with their teriyaki meats including chicken, beef and shrimp. It was a little unusual to be served cold gyoza, but all temperatures of gyoza are served in different parts of the world so this is by no means a negative (I just dunked it in my wife’s ramen for a bit anyway). The meal came with a few cuts of sushi and some ginger which was a huge plus for me. We were very satisfied with their customer service and portions, and will definitely be back again!

Wasabi Factory – Menu with Prices – 7415 Hardeson Rd #A, Everett

I used to frequent Wasabi factory when I was living at home a few years ago. Now I wanted to go back and try it again as it’s been a while. I remembered liking their Lion King and Volcano roll and I was craving sushi that was flame seared. I went to the place on a Friday night. It wasn’t full or packed, probably a few people at the bar and another party of 2. Their menu changed a little bit but I was craving a volcano roll and a bento box. I think they are known for their boxes as they are relatively cheap compared to other Japanese restaurants and comes with a lot of food. They have a deluxe and a regular bento box, depending on how much sushi you want and if you want a side of gyoza. I ordered the regular bento box with spicy tuna roll (comes with 8 rolls) and chicken katsu. They have other options you can order with it such as teriyaki, pork katsu, sushi, tempura; etc. On top of picking two things, you get miso soup, salad, and 4 pieces of California roll. I also got a volcano roll to share, which is a California roll seared with spicy tuna on the top. From what I could remember a few years ago, the roll was similar. I enjoyed eating the sushi as it leaves a little bit of a burnt taste. I recommend this along with Lion King if you want seared salmon, and the katana roll which is a shrimp tempura roll wrapped with tempura. The karagee was also ordered to share – it wasn’t super great as it wasn’t as crispy. Staff was friendly and food overall was great. Bento box was great for its value and I left full and content. Will be returning next time I’m in town.

mizu ramen sushi – Menu with Prices – 12124 N Pennsylvania Ave, Oklahoma City

My family and I tried this place for the first time this week. We’re always looking for new places to eat and we were craving ramen and sushi, so we decided to come to Mizu. This was an old thai restaurant, with a good amount of seating. Atmosphere is nice and casual. Hubby and I ordered ramen. I ordered the seafood ramen and hubby ordered the tonkatsu ramen. I ordered mine bc it said the broth was spicy. Hubby ordered his bc the waiter said it’s their best seller. My oldest son ordered the Sooner roll, and my youngest ordered gyoza. We also had the takoyaki. Takoyaki was delish. Would def order them again. My oldest loved his Sooner roll and the youngest devoured his gyoza. Ramen- hubby said his was very bland and was lacking flavor, so was mine. When you first bite into the noodles, it was very bland. Other places that I have eaten ramen, the first bite usually leaves a good flavor in your mouth. I found myself adding more and more salt and season to my bowl. Each of the bowls had a fair amount of meat in it…. but it was really lacking flavor. When our waiter asked us how was our food, we told him the truth. The ramen was really lacking flavor. My bowl was $15.., and hubby’s was I think, $10 or so. He told the owner, so she came over and asked us about our concerns… we told her, which we appreciated that she wanted our feedback on it. Her name was Sammie, super sweet and friendly. After listening to our feedback, she came back and offered us 25%off on our next visit. We said we would be back to try something different… but my kids loved their food. To top it off, our waiter came back to our table and offered us mango mochi on the house. That right there, is what I call good customer service. So instead of giving this place a bad review, I give it a positive review considering it’s pretty new and they have plenty of room for improvement. We will def try it again.

Piranha Killer Ramen Menu with Prices 309 Curtis Mathes Way #149, Arlington

I went a different route today & instead of getting ramen I got sushi. Their sushi selection isn’t very large and the quantity you get isn’t normally the portion you’d get at normal sushi restaurants. Their rolls are more on the smaller end, maybe an inch at most thick. It’s really not a lot and you’d have to order 2-4 rolls to really get full depending on your stomach. The quality was like buffet sushi. I honestly wouldn’t recommend gong the sushi route. Along with sushi, we also ordered the Uni Pasta and that was actually pretty good. The amount you get wasn’t worth the price point. Although it was a little fishy, it was minor enough to overlook. Service today was a little iffy. Granted it’s a Sunday night during dinner rush hour. It took longer than expected for our food to come out and it seemed like some of it was forgotten. Overall, if this was my first time and I had went the sushi route, I wouldn’t have came back. I don’t recommend the sushi and for someone who doesn’t like ramen and loves sushi – GO WITH RAMEN !!!

Maizuru Sushi Bar & Japanese Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 5623 Alton Pkwy, Irvine

We came here on a Sunday around 1pm and it was decently crowded, but we were able to get seated right away for a table of 5. The service was quick and decent, checking in once in a while to make sure everything was ok. We ordered the seafood salad (lunch portion), 1/2 order sushi rolls, and 2 item combination bento plate with spicy tuna roll and sesame chicken. Most full entrees come with miso soup, which nicely starts the meal as it’s light and yummy! The seafood salad was large for a lunch portion and we could barely finish it. The 1/2 order sushi rolls are perfect for splitting between people and not being stuck with one large roll and having differentiation for options! The 2 item continuation bento plate hit the spot. I think the sesame chicken is good with some teriyaki sauce if you ask for it on the side and the spicy tuna is solid as well. Recommend going to this place as it’s not as costly/expensive as other sushi/Japanese restaurants and you get a good experience as well!

Hakata Ikkousha – Menu with Prices – 3033 Bristol St, Costa Mesa

I’ve been to a good amount of ramen shops and I even work at a ramen shop, but I feel like Ikkousha is my all-time favorite. I love how their thick broth coats the thin noodles, and their egg is seasoned lightly and cooked well so that there’s a soft, runny yolk. The meat is quite thin and sparse, but I think it works with their ramen since thicker meat would make the dish feel too heavy. They also make their own noodles which is pretty cool! My go-to is the godfire level four. I don’t know any other place that makes a tasty spicy tonkotsu ramen that’s actually spicy. If you’re not sure about the spice level, I’d start with level two to gauge how much spice you want. Sometimes I want the black tonkotsu but still want godfire, so I get the black devil since it’s a mix of both! It’s not on the menu though, so you have to ask for it. The fried chicken and gyoza are both great appetizers too! The chicken is crispy and juicy and the gyoza comes with a yuzu chili sauce that is the perfect condiment for it. Sometimes I don’t even have to pay for it because they have a stamp card that gives you free food!! Parking in this lot can be atrocious during peak lunch and dinner hours. They do offer valet if you’re into that, but you can park in the nearby neighborhood too.

Heiwa Shokudo Menu with Prices 87 N Lexington Ave, Asheville

Where do I begin with this place? As my husband has lived in Japan, and I’ve visited numerous time, we’ve been looking for a while for a decent ramen place in Asheville. We’ve tried other ‘noodle’ places, but have always ended up disappointed. However, this place… Wow! We are very very very happy to say that this place is close to the real deal and absolutely phenomenal! We got here just after they opened for lunch, and it filled up very quickly. Clearly, numbers speak volumes. This is a very small and semi hidden little gem that is clearly loved by the locals. We had the spicy miso ramen and black garlic ramen along with gyoza and some tea. It was all absolutely delicious as we left nothing but our dishes. We can’t wait to come again to try the other dishes that they have. We highly recommend this place and getting there early!

The Whet Noodle – Menu with Prices – 1813 S Coast Hwy, Oceanside

I’m a chef who likes to go to local places when I’m on vacation. One of the many things I enjoy is ramen and sushi. I went with my wife and kids and at first it started off great we ordered sat down and the staff was friendly. They brought out one of my kids plates then the sushi and were left wondering about my other kids plate. I looked at our receipt and noticed they only charged for one after emphasizing I needed 2. The sushi itself was really good tasty and different. It was on their Friday menu. The kids chicken was perfectly cooked. The second kids plate didn’t come till everyone at the table was served. When the ramen hit the table it looked amazing I ordered the creamy mushroom ramen they had as the special wasn’t creamy nor was it flavorful. My wife ordered the pork ramen off the regular menu same thing looked good but broth was meh. I mean if your going to advertise ramen your broth needs to be on point. Both dishes were bland with lack of seasoning. Honestly felt like I was drinking essence of broth. Was offered coupons and free desert turned both down really don’t think I’d ever go back.

Sushi Sakana – Menu with Prices – 4435, 3000 Custer Rd # 110, Plano

My favorite spot for Sushi in Plano, TX! The restaurant is smaller than some but I like that. It’s more cozy and intimate for a date night and never ridiculously loud. You can have a nice conversation here over a fantastic dinner. Their selection of rolls is great and there always seems like there’s something new to try. I haven’t had all of them, but my main go to is the crunch roll (pretty basic of me, I know :P) and each one I have tried has been very good! Their ramen is excellent, especially on cold nights when you want something to warm you up. I haven’t tried the bento boxes or other entrees because I really just love to either get sushi or ramen from this place, but I hear good things! The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Refills come in a timely manner and they know just when to check up on you without ruining an engrossing conversation or spoiling a mood. Very clean dining room, sushi bar and bathrooms. Go check them out, they do not disappoint!
