It was only ok…. I checked this place out for the second time for dinner on Saturday. The decor would be appealing to fisherman, or maybe our friends from the east coast provinces. There are a few fish tanks with some cute little fish to entertain you, otherwise the place is a dark. I felt like I was dining on the inside of an old pirate ship…which isn’t a bad thing I suppose. It took a while (4 minutes) to be greeted, then another 2 minutes before we were seated. The waitress was busy but friendly and apologetic…but didn’t bring us menus for another 5 minutes or so. So we were antsy and thirsty for the first 10 minutes of our arrival. I ordered a Cajun Blackened Halibut Sandwich with fries ($15). My guest ordered a 2 piece combo of battered Haddock and fries (also $15). The food came out quickly…but we were sadly disappointed. My sandwich had a very small fillet which was drowned out by thick bun. The sauce (not dry blackened seasoning which I expected) and was very messy. My guest’s plate looked like a child’s combo. Very small pieces of fish, and literally 16 fries (we counted). He is a big guy….so he suggested that we go for a quick burger after supper to fill up. We quickly finished our meals, and the waitress offered more fries…which are apparently bottomless….which was news to us. So of course we ordered another round, which didn’t come for another 10 minutes. There is tartar sauce readily available on all of the tables…but it tasted like room temperature mayo, and the bottles are crusted with old sauce on the tops..and just not appealing. My guest is from Nova Scotia, and sadly Joey’s didn’t come close to his expectations for fish and chips. I didn’t mind my sandwich, but it wasn’t worth $15 for the portion, the wait, and the general ambiance of the place. P.S. Their specialty fish is Pollock! Which is just sad. They don’t even mention on the menu that it is Pollock, we asked…and passed. Cheers

The Off Ramp – Menu with Prices – 400 NE 112th Ave, Vancouver

It’s a sports bar! Set your expectations accordingly. We went last Monday for trivia. It’s run by Geeks Who Drink and is at 7 pm. We previously were going to Shanahan’s though they don’t have it anymore for some reason. Anyway, we figured we could give The Offramp a try. All food and drinks are ordered at the bar. There was not a waiter/waitress. There was someone from the kitchen that brought out our food. We got one pitcher of hefeweizen for $12 which is not bad. Their drink prices are affordable. Food is bar food. I got steak tips which were not bad (not the best I have had either), though they were tasty enough. I asked for a side of waffle fries. The basket was huge. The side came out in something that you would expect a burger and fries to come out in. I noticed all fries are bottomless, though they give so much the first time we didn’t take any seconds. My husband had chicken strips and my MIL had a burger. One thing we agreed on is that “they know how to fry a potato”. I had waffle fries, he had fries and my MIL had tator tots (pinnacle of health, the three of us). They were all great. There were flies inside. We killed one. I think thats on par for PNW restaurants in the summer, sadly. It wasn’t spotless, but there also wasn’t dust on the window sill. I didn’t use the restroom so I can’t speak to that. All in all, not bad to go for trivia. I wouldn’t go there if not for trivia, though.

J J Fish & Chicken – Menu with Prices – 217 7th St, Rockford

I was somewhat skeptical when I read on the menu that the fish was farm raised, and info was not given on the menu concerning if the chicken was free range, factory raised, farm raised, or organic. Being I’m in Rockford and not back home in Atlanta I didn’t bother asking being most restaurants I have frequented since I have been in town look at your crazy when you ask such questions. At any rate I ordered a fish combo ( 2 catfish fillets with 4 chicken wings, fries, coleslaw, and bread). my order took about 20 minutes, not bad at all, lets me know my order was cooked fresh. Everything tasted great, seasoned to perfection and fried perfectly. The portions for the fish and chicken were nice big portions. The price for the combo considering the portions was AWESOME. I only have one complaint one piece of bread is not enough for all the food they serve for the combo meal I selected. I would recommend this restaurant to others looking for good fish/chicken dinner.

Grand Circus Diner – Menu with Prices – 1570 Woodward Ave, Detroit

We wanted to eat before the Tigers game and we chose this place. We sat down and was acknowledged about 5 min later with water. About 10 minutes later , we got menus. 10 min later we were able to finally order. Our waitress disappeared…for a long time and then came back with ” our we ready to order ..”Our party of 8 placed our order and we waited another 30 min for our food. While ” waiting” .. we could see our food that some of use ordered ..sitting up on the hot plate waiting to be served. Waitress was no where to be found . Another waitress came by to refill our waters- and we asked if that was our food sitting there .. She went up and grabbed 2 of our plates. One was mine . The fish meal. My fries were cold , my fish was mushy. The other 5 people didn’t get their food for another 15 min , after we complained to yet another manager that our table wasn’t fully served. I ate my fish, ( to wait another 10-15 for her to come back.. and I didn’t eat all day…) but left the fries and asked for fresh hot ones. Our bills came and we pulled the manager aside and told him our experience. He apologized,.. and eventually told us that ” after the game … to come back and we would get 1/2 off drinks”… come back at 11 pm? For drinks? To sit and wait again? Are you crazy? What a horrible experience. This was a joke . The waitress should of asked for help so her tables weren’t waiting on her. We also noticed other people who ordered after us , got their food before us. They ordered the fish also . Just ridiculous. $15 for 3 bite size pieces of fish and 10 cold fries … with dry Cole slaw .. not worth it. Get the burger . It’s more filling , and prob served hot

Murphy’s Jailhouse – Menu with Prices – 565 Cedar Rd #12, Chesapeake

We recently wanted a beer and something to eat, so we stopped by the Blu Frog to give it a try. As we entered, my wife and I looked at each other and said…oops! Looks like a standard townie bar with pool tables and really non descript furnishings. But, we decided to stay and give it a try…boy, are we glad we did! We found we were at Happy Hour which runs from 11am to 7pm pretty much daily. We opted for two cold pints of Yuengling for $2.50/pint. First good news. Second good news was the friendly service. The bartenders was also our waitress as we arrived about 4:45pm. My wife ordered the grilled chicken club sandwich and I ordered one of their hamburgers…a half pounder as I recall…with hand cut french fries. Hey, did I mention that the fries are hand cut? Perfect! The chicken sandwich was excellent according to my wife and the grilled veggies were very tasty….not what I would expect from a local bar/restaurant. My burger was cooked medium rare as requested and the Patty was obviously hand formed…another big plus in my book. The burger was GREAT and the fries were perfect. We even enjoyed a conversation with one of the regulars. This was very enjoyable experience for us. We will definitely return. But, remember…don’t go expecting a quaint pub type place…this is a bar with pool tables and tv’s. Oh, it does have a patio area out front where smokers can puff away.

Jack’s Bar-B-Q – Menu with Prices – 1301 N Market St, Shreveport

I had high hopes for Jackâ??s. I went for lunch during the week. The parking lot was full which further increased my excitement at hopefully finding an amazing local restaurant. I was sadly disappointed. I ordered a brisket sandwich and added the combo deal including 2 sides and a drink. They told me they were out of brisket then decided to look in the back for more. They found some and gave me my sandwich. It was a bunch of fat with very little meat. It actually nauseated me looking at it. There was almost no flavor to the sandwich, the sides nor the sauce. I am not sure now why so many people love it. I will not be back.

Touchdown Wings at Chattanooga – Menu with Prices – 4921 Brainerd Rd, Chattanooga

I got the 10 wing combo with sweet chili sauce. My son got the garlic parmesan. They were cooked crisp which I like, but small in size. My sauce was good, but my son didn’t care for his. The wings looked like the garlic parmesan was drizzled over instead of tossed. I rolled one in the sauce and it was better. They give you plenty of fries with the combo. My daughter got chicken tenders which were good size, but tasted like they were frozen. They have fish, shrimp, and more on the menu and you can choose from many sides. My family wasn’t impressed, but I will stop again for the $6.99 combo special to try more sauces from which there are 30 to choose from.

Walk-On’s Bistreaux and Bar Menu with Prices 401 E, I-20, Arlington

7/17/19- went back and had the the worst service. Food was pretty good- I’d say 4/5 this time but the service was terrible. I got there at 5:45 and the hostess sat me and mentioned that happy house was until 6pm. My waitress came a couple minutes later and I ordered two waters right now and I’ll look at the menu (one for my guest that I was waiting for) and that I would. 10 minutes later she came back and said “I’m about to get the water for you, but do you want anything else?”. Seriously? My guest arrived at 6:02. The same time as the waitress brought me one glass of water even though I ordered 2. We ordered our drinks and food. Our drinks from the bar came after the appetizer and we forgot we ordered them. We were never offered refills, my friend just sat there with an empty glass of wine. We skipped trying the Beignets because the waitress asked if we wanted the just the check or if we needed to go boxes and a check. And we sat for over an hour with dirty plates in front of us while we talked. She came back to our table to see if she could grab the signed copy of the receipt but never even picked up a dish. Her hands were free to grab some since I held on to the little clipboard until I could figure out what an okay tip was for crummy service. I gave it another try, won’t be back this time

Area 4 Restaurant Menu with Prices 3226 Greenbriar Pkwy SW, Atlanta

I went on a Friday night to watch Game 4 of the NBA finals. We arrived around 845p and game tip-off was scheduled for 9p. When we arrived, we walked right in. There wasn’t much happening inside so we grabbed a table. After discussing with the waitress, we determined that we were going to order a bottle of Dusse and were moved to a section of sorts. It was a comfortable sofa area to the left of the stage and in front of a couple projector style screens. We were informed that there were no Dusse bottles in the restaurant and that they were going to the store to get them and it wouldn’t be long. For food, we ordered blackened fish and jumbo shrimp with fries. The blackened fish was PHENOMENAL. I almost forgot we didn’t have our drinks because I savored every bite. Our waitress was nice and was training another young lady. They made sure to come around and check on often and accommodate our many requests. During the first two quarters and half time, a DJ was playing songs for crowds of all ages. He did a decent job of switching between old and new school. The game got close so in the middle they switched to playing tv audio and music during commercial breaks. Well into the third quarter, we had been informed 3 times that no one had gone to the liquor store to get the bottles and offered other bottles that we declined. A manager sent our table two rounds of free shots (Dusse and lime). After the game ended, a new DJ came on and it was a PARTY. Several birthday sections had filled and a 60th party left. The music was ON POINT. Around midnight, we finally got our bottle of Dusse and continued the night. The night was really fun and the crowd dwindled around 1:30a. We were informed by our waitress that Area 4 should be open 24 hours but is only currently open until 6am. Nevertheless it’s a good time. I’m looking forward to coming back next time I’m in town.

URBAN, Restaurante – Menu with Prices – 18505 NW 75th Pl, Hialeah

So my review is a bit mixed, but ill keep it short. The place: A Wynwood in Miami lakes, modern, clean and cute. The food: When we speak of the food itself, just that, the food is great and worth going back for. HOWEVER: The service we received was terrible and the reason why we haven’t returned in the past 2 years, and probably never will. I would like to think the waiter was new, but based on how the night went, I can tell it was the waiter and the management. First we ordered beer, it was HOT, who serves/drinks HOT beer? Upon complaining, they said there was nothing they could do…. ok.. I guess? Then we ordered our food. I ordered a hamburger and my boyfriend said that he wanted a chicken sandwich, which the girl said “oh youd like XYZ sandwich then” and he agreed to her “chicken sandwich” suggestion. We wait for our food about 30-40mins, which is quite a while considering they were simple foods. My burger was great, I had a mushroom and cheese hamburger. This came with waffle fries which were surprisingly great (I dont like waffle fries) and it was all very good with me. My boyfriends “chicken sandwich” ended up being a FISH sandwich, which he cannot eat. We asked our waiter if we could please return it as we had not ordered this sandwich. Instead of comprehending and moving on, she decided to argue with us and tell us that we had given her the wrong name of the dish… like really? we told you the type of food and YOU suggested the name, yet its our fault? really? after arguing with us, she took it back and got his order (all with an attitude). I was almost done with my meal when he received his. AGAIN! she took his order wrong! AGAIN, we ask for it to be returned. This time we did not want to replace our order. Instead we asked to speak to the manager. After arguing with us AGAIN, she ran off to her manager. The manager comes back, and we expected some form of apology, not a free meal nor anything else, just an apology. NOPE, the manager was just as difficult to speak too and didnt take responsibility for the experience nor his employee. In the end, my boyfriend didnt get eat and we were charged for my food and the beers.

Johnny B’s Grillhouse – Menu with Prices – 2504 Somerset Center Dr, Winston-Salem

Well this was our first experience wanted to try something new. The decor was very well done, and cute place with patio. Menu was great, with lots of options for what you are in the mood for. I ordered the Beef Tips with Mushrooms in wine sauce and ordered Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Green Beans. The Beef Tips were cooked perfect, and really good along with the potatoes. The Green Beans however were not my thing. Cooked in a Greek Style sauce. I just did not care for them. Our waitress who was very friendly and helpful came over and I told her I did not like them. I asked if they could be switched to something different. She was happy to do so and took care of this rather quickly. She brought me the vegetable medley I asked for and this was much better. I am very picky with my Sweet Tea being I make it fresh at home. The Tea at first was okay ,but when pitcher was brought to refill for my husband it tasted like it had been sitting out too long. He had ordered the chicken bacon and Swiss club. He said it was good but tasted too salty. He told this to the waitress she said it may be the blackened meat, but he had ate blackened before that did not taste this way. We think could have been the chicken marinade possibly. She apologized for this, but he did eat it all. We were too full to go for dessert. All staff seemed very friendly and already learning there customers. I definitely will go back, and try again. Would like to try the breakfast as well. Prices were great!

Racing Tacos – Menu with Prices – 3009 Strong Ave, Kansas City

I liked the value menu pricing. My spicy chicken sandwich combo (sandwich, fries, and a drink for $5.99) was ready eight minutes after I ordered at the counter. Everything was fine except for the not-so-premium chicken. The dining area was basic, and fairly clean, without any background music. The service was mixed, with a friendly order taker, and a grumpy cook. I’m thinking 2.5 stars and rounding up because of the good price. Overall, A-OK.
