I had the opportunity to stop into Jimmys on 11th this past week and I had a great time. It’s a very comfortable/fun atmosphere. The bartender is also the owner and is just a great guy. He made sure that everyone who walked in was greeted and served. My friend and I ordered food and it was pretty darn good. I recommend the burger on ciabatta bread. Fantastic. I live in California but I will stop in again when I am in the Eugene area.

The house brew is outstanding. But if I’m on a stretch for a BIT more time (like 30 mins to an hour), I’ll pop for something a bit more extravagant, like the Salted Bourbon Latte – now THAT’S how you kick start your day for a blitz trek all the way back to Sacramento. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/glass-house-coffee-bar-eugene?select=TpRkPfCFlgfNOIVFkb0IJQ&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w THE ART! Soma Cafe & Deli – Menu with Prices – 10184 Telesis Ct, San Diego

Latte is good, better than starbucks, but not so awesome as some other independent coffeeshops near by. Lunch experience is abysmal, ordered a lunch special, I was asked what type of bread I wanted, I asked for ciabatta. I got the sandwich with white bread. And it was definitely not $10 sandwich. When I told them that I ordered with ciabatta, i received a rather reluctant response. My co-worker ordered pasta, which he didn’t like, the pesto pasta didnt have much trace of pesto sauce and rather tasted like dish soap. I will swing by for coffee but lunch, i have learnt my lesson.

Village Idiot – Menu with Prices – 1439 N High St, Columbus

This is kind of a hidden spot near OSU’s campus. My friend said she typically never sees undergrads here, mostly graduate students and other adults. They don’t seem to get sloppy here either. It kind of has a divey vibe which I liked and it was very chill. I came around 6 on a Friday. We were about to eat at Eden Burger next door, but the space was super cramped and every table was filled, so we came to Village Idiot which thankfully has an order window so you can still get Eden Burger! I got the Hawaiian burger which was really good! It was falling part a little bit but sometimes that happens. It had pineapple, a vegan type of bacon, and teriyaki. It was $9 but very filling! Didn’t need to order fries or anything! Some of my other friends got fries, the Eden Burger ( which was a typical burger with Eden sauce), the California burger (pepper jack cheese, guac, lettuce, tomato), and loaded fries (half an Eden burger patty, tomato, pickle, onion). The fries got a little too salty after a while and I couldn’t eat more than 5. It was sad…it was just over seasoned. Otherwise, everyone liked the burgers! Lots of others ordered from the window so it looks like this is the best way to go. I’m glad they have Eden burger though! Great healthy food option for being at a bar! Village Idiot wasn’t a super huge space but they had a pool table and a few high tables. My friend had no problem ordering a drink at the bar. It wasn’t busy so he walked right up and got his beer pretty quick! Parking isn’t bad! You can find parallel parking in front of it or across the street easily if it’s not too busy.

Murphy’s Pub – Menu with Prices – 1928 N 45th St, Seattle

This place is the perfect place to unwind on a chilly, rainy Seattle day! The cup of beef stew was hearty enough for me, although I asked for a side of their brown bread on the recommendation of my friend (a local) and I’m so glad I did! It’s amazing bread! It comes with the bowl, but I knew I would never be able to finish that. . . My teenager had the meatloaf (and the bread) and ate every last bite! I sampled a bit and it was fantastic! My friend (the local) had her favorite – the shepherd’s pie – and let me sample it. While my mom’s is still better, this was very tasty! . . Of course all of this washed down so well with the first Smithwick’s I’ve had since visiting Ireland in 1993! It’s still delicious and tastes fantastic with everything we ordered. . . We missed out on the seats by the fireplace, but we had great service and left feeling quite stuffed! I’ll insist we go back next time I’m in Seattle!

Bernardo’s Deli – Menu with Prices – 2102 Business Center Dr, Irvine

(Full review disclosure: I ordered from the deli to-go and didn’t actually eat in the place) Actually, I had never heard of this place and only decided to order it because it came up locally near my work. I was looking for something light and vegetarian so I ordered the Veggie burger special. It was a good value, for only around $7 it came with the veggie burger on your choice of bun/bread, side salad or chips and a soft drink. I ordered the burger on sour dough and was surprised when one of the workers called me because they said I didn’t select anything on my burger (just the patty and the bread) I told them I was never given an option to say what I wanted on it, I assumed it came with everything. He was extremely nice to call and check with me because if he didn’t, I would have gotten a plain veggie burger! Overall, the burger was delicious, the side salad? Eh, not so much. The burger was tasty but very hard to eat, as the bread made it fall apart super easily.

Dutch Garden Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 4203 State St, Santa Barbara

We have been here several times over the years and really liked it. Today we were served a $9 veggie burger (no sides just the burger) that was way too mushy and bad to eat. I tried to give it to my husband, but not even he would eat it. When we told the server she said it was fine and took it away. Then forced us to pay for it. She said the manager wanted to charge us either way. She didn’t say this before she took it away. So we paid $9 for a burger she threw away; a product we didn’t consume. Will never ever return. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry for 15 years and never in my life had I witnessed or heard of such bad and strange customer service in California.

Eugene’s Canteen – Menu with Prices – 765c N High St, Columbus

When I’d heard that this establishment was replacing Da Levee, I was skeptical but intriqued as to what the owners were going to create. I would visit Da Levee before a show before the club behind the restaurant or when a drink was needed. My drink of choice was always the Cajun Lemons. Refreshing with a little pep. I visited the newly named place yesterday. Immediately upon entering, I was impressed. A new look, new bar, new seating, and a new menu. Eugene’s is a burger place and I love me a good burger. But I can be picky about my burger. Justin greeted us and gave us the simple food and drink menu. The first thing making me happy was seeing my favorite drink of choice so of course, I ordered that. Next I ordered a single burger, everything except no onions. Food came out. I inspected the burger, it looked great. My first bite melted in my mouth. I paid $6 for fresh meat and toppings. I was impressed with the appearance. New, clean, and creative. A wall is designated for your framed picture of a veteran family member. There’s information about that on the menu. But yeah, take a family veteran’s picture in and they’ll hang it up. I thought that was really cool and will take in a picture of my father. The tables are comfortable and there’s a nice lounge space at the front window. I only checked the one bathroom – it’s black and white interior was super clean. I’d say to put this on your list and visit often. I like supporting this nice little gem.

Off The Rez Cafe – Menu with Prices – 4300 15th Avenue Northeast Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture, Seattle

I’m glad Off The Rez specializes in fry bread because damn, it was good and there really aren’t many places that do it. But the savory dishes seemed to be amiss. My friend and I spotted this food truck, as it was the truck that was parked outside of Optimism Brewery when we visited. You always need bites with your beer; and when she found out that Off the Rez was here, she was excited to try their fry bread. I had never eaten fry bread before, but was down to try something new. My friend ordered the Powwow Burger, a bacon cheeseburger with fry bread for buns, while I had two Indian tacos, one with pork and the other with chicken. Menu was pretty standard with taco and burger combinations, with sides like kale salad and fries. My Indian tacos were A-OK. Don’t get me wrong – the fry bread was awesome! It was soft and fluffy and had crispy edges. I would’ve happily just eaten it by itself. But getting it as a taco, to sandwich the meat and toppings seemed to distract from the real winner of Off The Rez, the fry bread. Both of my meats, chicken and pork were bland. You’d think that with the toppings it wouldn’t be so, but they were. My chicken taco included shredded cheese and slaw in a crema sauce while the pork one had a BBQ sauce with slaw and was supposed to have jalapenos, but sadly, they must’ve forgot to put it on. The sauces did help to add some flavor to the tacos, but meat just never came through. My friend felt the same way about her Powwow Burger, saying that the beef patty tasted like it wasn’t seasoned. I advise getting a sweet fry bread item instead of a savory dish, in hopes that it fares much better. The fry bread was really good, so the simpler the toppings, the better.

Ume Grill Onigiri House – Menu with Prices – Hilyard St & E 24th Ave, Eugene

Ume Grill takes the cake for “Best Hidden Gem of Eugene” in my book, because this is HANDS-DOWN the best place to go. It’s really a bummer that not many people know about it, because everyone is missing out. The service, the food, the price… 10/10 stars. It’s all served out of a small food truck and there’s only a little bit of space on their patio to eat, so I usually take everything to-go. The food starts at $2.50, so this place is great if you are a college student (it’s a walkable distance to campus, too!) Everything tastes so fresh and flavorful; I always order the chicken teriyaki and onion sweet potato onigiri, and am taken aback every time I eat it because it’s THAT good! If you’re ever in the Eugene area, this is definitely one of those places that you have to check out.

Clocktower Brew Pub – Menu with Prices – 200 Elgin St, Ottawa

Came here on a busy Friday night. First time at clocktower. I ordered the supreme burger with a veggie patty and pub chips. I have to say, the burger was so impressive, I could not believe it was a veggie burger. I really couldn’t. I have to send out a sincere apology to the server and manager on shift. They handled my not so pleasant skepticism with grace and were very accommodating, despite my accusations of being served a beef burger by mistake. I hang my head in shame and stand corrected. Food and service were wonderful. I highly recommend.

Little Beast Street Food – Menu with Prices – 2730 E Colfax Ave, Denver

Drove by on my way to Cerebral Brewery and saw their small patio slammed. After getting beer we decided to give it a try and was glad we did! Not being from CO I am always looking for hidden gems of restaurants and this is one. While the menu and seating is limited, the burgers are fantastic. Thin patty with a little char, great flavor. Was lucky to go on a day they were offering a bacon/mushroom/Swiss as it was fantastic, highly recommend if they have it when you go. They offer a few other sandwiches if not wanting a burger, all sandwiches served a la carte, so fries are separate. The seating as mentioned is limited to outdoor seating, so you may not find a seat if you go over lunch when they get busy. They have a small selection of beer as well if wanting to drink. Great food, great staff, recommend stopping in if in the area.

Tokyo Japan Sushi & Hibachi – Menu with Prices – 3000 N Green River Rd, Evansville

I stopped in here with a friend for dinner around 7:00 PM, and the establisment was completely empty. I briefly worried that this might be a bad sign, but my fears were unfounded. We were promptly seated and orders taken. The waitress was friendly, but all business. The atmisphere and decor were pleasent, and everything seemed clean. My friend ordered a couple sushi rolls, and I had the Teriyaki Salmon bento box. I ordered it because it gives a good variety of different things on the menu. It came with miso soup, ginger salad, tempura fried shrimp and vegetables, pork fried rice, spring rolls, a california sushi roll, and the Salmon teriyaki. All of them tasted fantastic, and were excellent examples of what Japanese cuisine should be. I highly recommend it to anyone.
