I’m updating this review because I believe in second chances and I don’t like grocery store meat. My 1st visit here was less than stellar. I’m not certain if it was the pending holiday season, long hours, grumpy customers, or a culmination of all of the afore mentioned. For whatever reason, l left feeling some type of way about the service I received. It was less than cordial, almost of the brink of rude, I digress, so let’s skip forward to my visit today (I’ve been several times lately to be honest and fair- the ethos by which I try to live – honesty at all cost) My last several visits have been an extremely pleasant experience. I was greeted and helped immediately with a pleasant smile. The staff here is not big on pleasantries or idle conversation, but they are nice nonetheless. What I really like: their meat is fresh and priced just right. The chicken is farm raised and has excellent flavor. I can get my steaks, no mine per se-by boys- the big fellas, cut to order. What I like most: priced well within reason and budget friendly. What I’d like to see: fresh seafood. I wanted to update my previous review out of fairness. I believe in the customer experience, but I recognize anyone can have a bad day or couple of hours. Once is a mistake, 2 times a coincidence, and anymore than that is a pattern of behavior. I’ve realized a mistake was made on my first visit and that can happen anywhere. I’ll be baccccckkkk!

Brewing Market Coffee – Menu with Prices – 2610 Baseline Rd, Boulder

Updated 01/04/2018 — I just raised my review to 3 stars only because we have been back to the Lafayette location a few more times since my first review, and it’s been ok. Still never get a happy vibe from the baristas — always feels like ordering fast food here for some reason, impersonal — but this location is a pleasant place to sit and talk; it is spacious and well appointed. Regardless, we always leave here feeling “meh” about the service. It is strangely ubiquitous at the various Brewing Market locations, I don’t know why. Baristas here seem unhappy and like they can’t wait to clock out. I just don’t get that vibe from the baristas at the other coffee shops we frequent in Boulder. I still think it is a top-down issue passed on by the owners’ attitudes. Too bad. Old Review: In short: when in Boulder visit Que’s, Ozo, Laughing Goat, Boxcar, Amante — all are excellent. Recommend you skip Brewing Market — we’ve been to multiple locations with repeated negative experiences at every location. The owner doesn’t seem to give a hoot & his attitude problem trickles down to the entire staff… You don’t need to spend your money here. If you do go, the McGuckin’s and the Hover Rd locations are usually ok, but not great. Service at Lafayette & Baseline is consistently “meh” to “ugh”. Long Version: We haven’t been to a Brewing Market since the last time we visited the Lafayette location during normal business hours and it was closed. An employee told us the owner was aware that the hours were posted online incorrectly but didn’t care enough to fix it. Considering we’d driven out from Niwot specifically to get those drinks (we liked their coffee) for nothing, we were a little peeved to hear that… Today, we tried the Baseline location only because Que’s, our standby, is in the process of switching locations from Table Mesa to Baseline and is closed for 2 months. Big mistake bothering with Brewing Market again! There is a barista at the Baseline location who desperately needs to get himself a “real” job — he’s obviously been a barista far too long based on the way he treats customers with disdain and annoyance instead of pleasant courtesy. Since it’s 92° and we work outdoors, my fiance ordered an iced Americano. He asked if he could have it blended (Brewing Market blends a variety of drinks, so this should not have been a big deal) — the [disgruntled] Barista hesitated big time, saying, “I don’t know WHAT that will taste like, man…” — um, considering an Americano is just espresso and water, it would probably taste like…. an Americano? Seriously?! For some unknown reason, he thought a blended Latte made more sense, so we switched to a blended Latte just to make him happy. No such luck, he had to roll his eyes a few more times and snicker about how dumb a blended Latte was with his co-worker before we could even pay for the damn thing. It’s not rocket science, fellas, you just dump it in the blender and push the button. Viola’ — you’ve got a blended Latte. Judging from the guy’s age, he probably flunked out of CU 10 years ago, so a blended drink may seem like a Really. Big. Deal. Whatever. We walked out while they were snickering together at the blender and drove straight to Ozo on Arapahoe, where they made us a blended Mocha in 45 seconds flat with big smiles (and a $4 tip, which would have gone to Mr. I’ve Been A Barista Way Too Long if he could have just kept his mouth shut & made the drink). In short: when in Boulder visit Que’s, Ozo, Laughing Goat, Boxcar, Amante — all are excellent. Might as well skip Brewing Market — from the owner of the company and his crappy attitude down to the baristas with THEIR crappy attitudes (top down, folks… can’t have a healthy business when the owner doesn’t even gi

Clearwater Cigar Company – Menu with Prices – 2454 North McMullen Booth Rd, Clearwater

Finally stopped in after driving by many times. They offer a variety of cigars to smoke out on their covered patio. The owner or at least one of the owners was there and walked us through the shop. He offered us a cutter and a lighter since we had not brought ours with us. They do not serve alcohol of any kind but they do offer fair priced pop including Diet Mt Dew which is hard to find around here for some reason. The cigar we chose was and made Miami made and was good for the price point. We met some interesting fellas out on the patio. All friendly and all open to sharing the space to 2 new people. We enjoyed our time here. We will definitely return.

P K Deli & Market – Menu with Prices – 716 E 64th St, Tacoma

I want to tell the whole world, DO NOT EVER GO & SUPPORT THIS STORE! My boys and their friend experienced racism in this establishment. They went there to buy candy and the owner told them that they needed to hurry and get out. He said he can’t stand young “black people” at his store. The boys ended up still buying something from his store when they left to prove they had money. I went there to confront him and he said by “experience” he had to protect his store. I asked if he ever saw these boys take anything in the past and he admitted No, but their kind has. I refuse to give any business to them. He was yelling in my face and had his hands up and said the boys were lieing, but he caught himself saying the same things the boys admitted. No one should ever be treated this way. IF YOU BELIEVE THAT THERE IS STILL RACISM AROUND, DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!!

Rodizio Grill Chattanooga Hamilton Place – Menu with Prices – 2100 Hamilton Pl Blvd #201, Chattanooga

I must admit that I entered this restaurant with a thorough understanding of what to expect. I’ve eaten at the downtown location 4 or 5 times since it opened, but this is my first try of the one actually closer to my home. The hostess was pleasant and warmly greeted us. Our reservation was at 7pm and our table was waiting when we arrived. The crowd was light on a Wednesday evening. Our server greeted us and reviewed the process. Of course, our party all ordered the full Rodizio experience; why come if not for endless meat?? The salad/hot bar here is epic with everything you might want and more, so it’s easy to see why some folks may only opt for this as a meal. The key for those continuing with large quantities of meat need to be certain to pace themselves and not fill up on the goodies at the hot bar. As an amateur my first visit I made this mistake and regretted it when I had to turn over my red/green meat retriever too early. Consider yourself warned. Once the meat started, the evening became a bit blurry as I ate until I got the meat sweats. Totally worth the agony. It was bacon-fest this visit, so I’m guessing I ingested more than my typically daily recommended allowance of salt and fat. Again, totally worth it. The manager stopped by while we ate and checked in. I do feel that the Gauchos here stopped by more often than I see them pass by in the downtown location. The waiter was more attentive and the overall service was a step up from their other location. IMHO. Overall another great dining experience. I definitely think this would get old if frequented, and not sure that would be good for my overall health either. But, as a once or twice a year special visit it still hold my attention and fills my gut with very good quality beef and other assorted items. Recommended, of course.

KC Pretzel Boy’s – Menu with Prices – 9559 Nall Ave, Overland Park

My office has had pretzel boys in the past and everyone loved it. So when people found out that I was ordering the personalized letter pretzels for an upcoming party everyone was excited. Two weeks before the scheduled event I called pretzel boys and asked them about the order process. I was told that I only needed to give them 24 hours notice for the special order. I called them 28 hours in advance and was told that they could not have it ready in time. I explained that when I talked with them 2 weeks ago I was told that 24 hours notice was all they needed. What was confusing is the guy on the phone kept repeating, “yeah, we need to know 24 hours in advance.” Well, I’m giving you 28 hours in advance… he did not offer to let me talk with a manager or give any kind of apology for the “mix up”. BE WARNED: get your order in EARLY because “24 hours” in advance is NOT accurate.

Kroger Bakery – Menu with Prices – 1489 Madison St, Clarksville

I have only used this location a couple of times when I was in the area as I do not live near this store. On two occasions I picked up a couple of odds and ends and the experience was great. On one occasion I did need the help of an employee to point me in the right direction to find what I was looking for and this is why I offer up the 3 star rating. The employee was generally ok however they seemed to be irritated that I would ask a question and had to take the time to help me. The store has been clean every time I have shopped here and also seems to be well stocked. They have a really good fresh flower selection and the meat department offers many cuts and types. I would have given a 4 star review if not for the one encounter with the not so nice employee. I understand that everyone has a bad day and it is not always fun to be nice to everyone however it is part of their job to be helpful and courteous even if you have to put up a front. I am sure that I will shop here again sometime and Will even modify my review if my experience is better. I really have no reason to say to anyone don’t shop here. I am sure that not every employee is like this. If you have the experience of a more than helpful employee or an employee that seems put out to help you, please let me know and this will help me to decide if I modify my review.

Ya Boy Fish & Chicken – Menu with Prices – 4304 S Anthony Blvd, Fort Wayne

Today I bought the gizzard meal. I love ya boys deep-fried anything, from their mushrooms Fish, and Chicken it’s all absolutely delicious comes with complimentary fries and hot sauce.(their Philly cheesesteak is also delicious) The only negative aspect from this restaurant is a centered around carry out. That being so I wish that they would be more responsive to their phones when open. There’s been times I’ve craved the food from ya boys but they would not pick up their phone 3 hours into being open. I personally only like to call in my orders from this restaurant because the building is not the most welcoming and has bulletproof proof glass however, the food is absolutely amazing and I definitely recommend taking some home for movie night.

Muto lzakaya Restaurant Menu with Prices 105 E Chestnut St, Bellingham

I still can’t believe what happened tonight. Our server made a mistake and brought out a wrong dish. I ordered a poke SALAD, but he brought out a poke BOWL. I didn’t noticed the error until I saw the bill. I pointed that out to the server, assuming that he would just correct the mistake (so that I would pay for what I ordered rather than when he brought out by mistake). The server was apologetic but kept saying there’s nothing they could do to fix it. His manager came out and told me the same thing but WITH AN ATTITUDE. I’m Japanese and I hate any kind of confrontation especially in public. I was with my son and his friend’s family even, but I’m not naive enough to pay extra for a mistake the server made. Anyway, it was still so embarrassing for me to “argue” with the manger. At a normal restaurant in the US, THEY will apologize for having made a mistake and promptly correct the mistake. I just could not believe why they had to make such a big deal out of a small mistake their server made. The manager finally said to me “Next time when there’s a mistake, tell us before you eat it, OK?” in a very condescending manner. He unwillingly corrected the mistake, brought back the corrected bill, STUCK it out in front of my face, and said “Are you happy now?” It then all made perfect sense to me why the server started sweating PROFUSELY when he realized he’d made a mistake. His manager is a big A**HOLE! First and foremost, I recommend that you do not work here as a server. Second, please do not support a business where the management intimidates their employees or their customers. ***************************** If you found something useful in my review, please hit “useful” so that I can improve my future reviews. If you love food and traveling, follow me, or better yet, let’s become Yelp friends! Thank you and happy Yelping! If you think your friends will find my review useful, please share it with them!

Taqueria Tres Hermanos Taco Truck – Menu with Prices – 2728 S 12th St, Tacoma

Idk what the rest of that garbage is on the menu, but if they do the basics right – like the chimichangas, tacos and burritos, and they’re fresh ‘most’ of the time, then I’ll return again and again. And this is the place for that. At lunch time the place is full of illegals, one of the younger fellas kept staring over at me like I was ICE. So, yeah it was a very uncomfortable feeling, but hey, the indignation is worth waiting for the great food. So why is it a good time to go at lunch time when it’s super crowded..? Because that means there is a good turnover, and increases the chance you’ll get a fresh batch. If you don’t, then expect to feel listless, sluggish, and in need of a nap for the next 2 -3 hours. Anything with asada (steak) in it, is spectacular of course, but I’ve gotten sickened too many times from it, and it also has many tiny chewy bits that have to be discreetly removed when no one is watching..like, into a napkin dude. Whenever there’s a restaurant’s food I like, I go home and clone it. For the bean and cheese burrito buy the smooth refried beans, add sharp cheddar bits, microwave and stir till it’s ready, then add to a giant warmed tortilla. To seal it use a bit of flour and water ‘glue’. Also the ‘street tacos’ ($1.75 each) were ridiculously easy to make at home – fresher and cheaper. The (chicken) chimichangas (with tax, $6.58 each) are the best ever and that’s what keeps me coming me back time and again, although the guacamole sauce which is added as a side is almost inedible, and the onion bits are way too big – I mean, I spit it out every time. And what’s with the store-bought shredded Parmesan cheese on top..? No way. Check my reviews – I almost never rate anything 5 stars – this one gets a qualified 4 stars. A change in management destroyed Ichiban Teriyaki up the street, so please TTH, dont make that mistake..!

Gigi Tea Time – Menu with Prices – 1355 W Broad St, Richmond

About 6 years ago, an ex of mine who was Asian took me to a place in New York that had the most amazing boba tea. Since then, I haven’t had boba tea until about a year ago. I tried a few places here in Richmond and not that I was disappointed, but I always felt there was something better in this area. Luckily, through Yelp, I came across a great review that was very descriptive and convincing. So today, I finally gave Gigi a try and it was everything that I hoped it would be, plus some more! As I entered, the lady at the counter was very pleasant and when I told her it was my first time there and I found them through Yelp, she gave me a huge smile and the most sincere thank you ever. Once my drink was made, she even waited for me to try it, to make sure it was made to my liking. Which it certainly was. She also gave me a punch card. As if I needed anymore reason to come back =) As if my visit couldn’t have gotten any better, as I was leaving, the gentleman came from behind the counter and opened the door for me. Things like that make me totally not care that I had to pay for parking. Lol. As for my tea, it was absolutely delicious! I had the blackcurrant fruit tea with passion fruit boba. It was not overly sweet like most places and I love the size and texture of their boba pearls. They have a kind of a thin shell with a burst of liquidy flavor. I’m not a fan of places that only offer the chewy bubbles that are like gummy bears. So Gigis’ boba pearls were definitely a pleasant surprise. I also had a Chinese hamburger. It was very greasy, but good. It was a little deceiving at first. Especially at $5 for how small it is. But it’s piled with meat and very dense. So trust me, one will most likely do the job. It’s rare that I write a review immediately after visiting a business. But this was such an awesome experience! Shout out my new Yelp friend, Cindy S. for helping me to find this Richmond gem!

Bawarchi Indian Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 711 Pleasant Grove Blvd #140, Roseville

Below, I am leaving my original review unchanged. I am updating to say that I have been back five or six times over the past few weeks, and trying different items. Still, all has been outstanding at every visit. Original review: Ordered from menu, not buffet – no idea about the buffet. I ordered three menu items and they were all fantastic. Very creamy and savory, and just enough heat to satisfy without being over the top. They also did adapt one dish for me, switching in lamb for goat. They charged $3 for the change. If it is just a matter of changing the meat, and it was, and if everything is fresh, then I don’t think there should be that charge. But they told me about it when I ordered, and I accepted. I also obviously left a five star review, so I am not taking away for it. Just sayin’. I’ll be back for sure whenever I am in the mood for Indian food…maybe tonight.

Johnboy’s Home Cooking – Menu with Prices – 3050 Canton Rd #3811, Marietta

30I love the food here, it is like good home cooking. A different special every day. Great fried chicken, assortment of vegetables, salad, really good desserts but I rarely have room for any. Love the fried green tomatoes. Open till 9pm, but try to go by 8pm. Plenty of food left but the wait staff is so eager for you to leave if you get there after 830, you feel very unwelcome. Cleaning all around you, putting up chairs, and the worst is the comments by the staff loud enough to be heard by customers. I was done by 902 after arriving at 830 pm, but having so much hustle bustle and cleaning all around me, it gave me indigestion and it was not pleasant to eat. Owners, please give hospitality to your customers and don’t mop the floors and sweep while people are eating. I will probably be back, have gone to John Boys for many years and enjoy the food and convenience. But only if I can go in the afternoon, when I have normally done. I rarely give a negative review for a restaurant, and love giving support to local places. But please, John Boys, show your customers more respect, and they will continue to love you.
