I had passed this place several times and wanted to know when they would be open. I’m a uber fan of Caribbean cuisine!!! I can eat it every day and never get tired of it. I think it’s all the seasoning mixed together that does it for me. I loved anything that is seasoned well!!! I heard one of the employees talking to a customer. He was saying it took them a while to open because the inspectors took so long to come and inspect the place and give them their permits and licenses to operate as a business and restaurant in the CSRA. I passed again and I saw they were opened. I decided to stop in today and check things out. I was really excited to try them. It was ok being they just opened. Many things I wanted to try on the menu they didn’t have. I asked about two dishes on the menu and they didn’t have it at the time. I settled on Curry Chicken and potatoes. It came with rice and beans, cabbage, and plantains. I requested not to have the plantains added to my plate. I got extra cabbage. The Curry Chicken was pretty good, but it was a very small portion compared to how much rice and cabbage I received. The cabbage was good, but need a tad bit of salt. The rice was my least favorite. It was mushy and over cooked. I don’t know if I would order it again. I may get extra cabbage again. Also, it was extremely hot inside the restaurant today, I don’t know if the air conditioning was broken or what?!? It was very unbearable to wait for my food. It was definitely out of the question that I was going to sit in and dine in. I’m sure I would have passed out. I also heard the same employee say that they are having their Grand Opening on August 19, 2018. I don’t know what all is going to go on, but I’m sure it’s something to check out. I will definitely be back in a few weeks to seeing if they got their footing and are able to conduct their business smoothly!!!!

Little Jamaica Menu with Prices 917 Laney Walker Blvd, Augusta

I am very fond of Jamaican cuisine, so of course I would check this place out and it definitely did not disappoint!!! The place is unassuming on the outside. It was several take out spot before this place. The few times I did stop in they weren’t open or didn’t have the items I wanted. I caught them today as the owner, Mr. Carlton, was opening up for business. He was very welcoming and apologized for any inconvenience I had experienced thus far. He even brought me out a chair to sit in and wait for my order to be prepared. All of the dinners come with rice and peas, plantains, string beans, cabbage, and mixed vegetables. I don’t like plantains and I expressed that to him. He was reluctant about not substituting the plantains for more cabbage, but he did it just for me. I was very appreciative!!! He said that the food would be great and it totally was!!! The portion was smaller than other places I frequent around town but every morsel of food I placed in my mouth was exploding with so much flavor!!! I normally have leftovers for later on, I ate every piece of food in that plate, except the bones of the curry goat, of course!!! I was thinking about going back and getting another plate of food that day, it was that good!!! I can’t wait to try more things on the menu and eat like a fat pig again!!! LOL!!!!

Harper’s Corner – Menu with Prices – 1236 NW 21 Ave, Gainesville

The restaurant is as cute as it can be. It’s clean and inviting and there is ample seating as well. The food is authentic and quite delicious. We ordered peas and rice, pumpkin rice, cabbage, curry goat, oxtails, and plantains. The rice was dryer than I’m accustomed to, but I asked for some gravy and it was of course perfect after that. I really enjoyed my visit and I like the concept of what’s being offered culturally and collectively at this establishment. I will certainly return to Harper’s Corner for my Jamaican cuisine and soul food fix because they can handle it. My experience all and all was 4.5 stars.

Patty World – Menu with Prices – 8959 164th St, Jamaica

I tried this little Jamaican place for lunch today and got the mini jerk chicken lunch which came in a small takeout container but was completely filling. The chicken was really good (moist & tender) but not spicy enough. The gravy was excellent but I would definitely get extra next time. It came with some cooked cabbage that tasted like it had been cooked with cloves, two fried plantains and some rice with peas, corn and carrots. All the sides were quite good and I am now wondering if I can get just an order of the fried plantains with gravy…that would be a really good lunch!

Irie Vibes rva – Menu with Prices – 1221 N Laburnum Ave, Richmond

Was very disappointed with the food, oxtails cabbage rice and beans. My husband got curry goat with cabbage and rice and beans. We both felt like the rice was not good. It had a very weird after taste. The cabbage was fine but it could have been better. It might of been overcooked because it was made wilted and mushy. The oxtails were thin and barely had meat on them. I was so disappointed again. I wish I tried the sorrel and the plantain but both were grossly overpriced. I do like your location even though it’s hot as balls inside. I couldn’t eat there, it would have had to be takeout. Which proved to be 70% nasty rice. That’s not even an exaggeration for clarity, there literally was more rice than oxtails and cabbage combined. My husband plate was more gravy than curry goat. So he had what looked like slop to say the least. Eew. Overall I was let down by the other comments and the photos posted. I thought I was eating some authentic jamaican cuisine. But that won’t it, sis. It wasn’t good a little bit. It just wasn’t hitting on anything and I’m out about $30 & some change. Needless to say I’m off of it for a while. Tried this place because it is open later and stocked with oxtails and goat when we requested it. Not coming back. Sorry but for real though.

People’s Choice Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 575 Brooks Ave, Rochester

The were right down the street so I ordered 3 lunch specials -1 jerk chicken and 2 curry chickens- for myself and each of my parents. It was inconvenient that they had no signage on the outside stating the establishment is cash only. I only found this out from a sign on the counter after ordering. There is an ATM machine inside the establishment, of course with a fee. While my parent’s food was fine. I was only given about 2 tablespoons of rice and peas and a lot of cabbage!! Didn’t even get one pea in the rice. It’s as if they ran out of rice for my plate so tried to sub in the cabbage. I don’t mind cabbage but once you pile on the gravy, the food gets a bit soupy

Pepper & Spice Jamaican Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 2801 Lower Huntington Rd #2616, Fort Wayne

Seriously – you MUST keep the mango bbq i tested today… flavor was great – had nice heat that satisfied but not too much that someone not seriously into hot foods would be turned away by. as for the rest – the beans and rice were fantastic and also had great flavor. cabbage was… well it was cabbage. simple. not much done to it. jerk chicken was good – not dry or charred like i’ve had at some places locally. tender. i personally like a little more kick to it but thats me and cant knock you for the flavor it did have. fried plantains were wonderful – i think they were perfectly ripe when cooked, caramelized on the outside i think probably without the addition of anything else. i’ve had fried plantains elsewhere that have no flavor at all … and these were perfection just eaten plain.

Red Hibiscus Caribbean Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 943 E Ocean View Ave, Norfolk

My family and I visited this place during the week for dinner time. They had been open for a month or so by this time. I am all about supporting local businesses. There is a small lot in the back of the restaurant, which wasn’t crowed when we visited. We entered the brightly colored restaurant, but I was shocked to see that it was completely empty. We sat and looked over the very short menu. I typically am very overwhelmed by busy menus, but I was concerned that this menu lacked options. We sat down and placed our drink orders. The kids got sweet tea, which they complained wasn’t sweet enough, but they are kids, so I didn’t give it any thought. However, if you are a traditional southern sweet tea drinker, this will not be sweet enough for you. My son and I got the Jamaican soda, which is always a good treat. We made our selections on the menu, and second selection as my first choice wasn’t available at the time. At the table: Curry chicken over red beans and rice, paired with cabbage and mac Whole fish (red snapper) paired with red beans and rice, and mac Jerk shrimp with sweet potatoes and mac Kids cheeseburger with plantains on the side First, the menu reads as if the portions aren’t big enough, but this cannot be further from the truth. I recommend if you have small kids 10 and under, order one meal not on the kid’s menu and split it. These plates come with more than enough food. The curry chicken plate was good! Everything was cooked well. The kids enjoyed the mac, but the cabbage seemed to not be as fresh as I would like. The whole fish was fresh, but my husband mentioned that it was little bland on the inside. This is big piece of fish btw. Jerk shrimp with sweet potatoes and mac this was good. The sweet potatoes were exactly how I like, more like candied yams. So delicious! Kids cheeseburger was underwhelming! I want to stop ordering off the kids’ menu, there doesn’t seem to be much effort when it comes to the food on the kid’s menu. My kids enjoyed the plantains though. My son took one bite of the burger and wasn’t impressed, he didn’t eat any more of it. I am glad to see diversity in the area, but I wish the menu had a little more options and the side dishes were fresh. I am not sure I would be back. At this point I feel the Caribbean place at Wards Corner is far better.

B & K Asian Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 1276 N First St, Fresno

First and foremost, I love their food. But over the years, their prices have gone up and it’s a bit over priced for their portions. Each star lost was for the following reasons: 1 star because of the prices, and 1 star for a phone order I placed today with a gal who said her name was Tully? I asked but it wasn’t very clear. I ordered chicken pad Thai, yum Talay, and beef lop. I asked for extra bean sprouts on the side and the person taking my order said sure. Then I asked for extra cabbage for my Lop because as we all know, there isn’t a lot to begin with and I like cabbage. At this point the girl said “it’s going to be $1 charge for the extra cabbage.” I said “are you serious? I’m never charged that when I dine in which is fairly often.” She said it was because I wanted 2 “extras” (bean sprouts and cabbage) so it’s something they have to charge for. I was quite shocked. Didn’t think a little extra cabbage would cost me considering I was spending $42 just for 3 menu items. Maybe I should cut back on the business I give this place and invest in another where I won’t feel like an under appreciated customer. Their food is good but it’s unfortunate that other things aren’t up to par. The owner is usually very friendly too when she is there so it saddens me to not be able to give them 5 stars. I also found out when my fiancé came home from picking up the food, that they charged him for a small side of chili oil. That should be a free condiment!!!! For 1 side of chili oil, they charged him $.25. Good thing he didn’t ask for utensils, or extra napkins. They might’ve charged him for those too. AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU DONT WANT THEM TO SUCK EVERY PENNY OUT OF YOU AS A CUSTOMER.

Chinese Wok – Menu with Prices – AA Marketplace, 13220 Harbor Blvd, Garden Grove

Not to be confused with China Wok at Ralph’s, this place is located inside the small food court at AA Market. Prices are pretty reasonable and portions are decent. I didn’t order the combos, but got the family meal. Fried rice- not exactly the best. Rice was kind of dry. Chow Mein- yum. Better than the rice! Cabbage that hey put in was a bit undercooked though. Orange chicken- decent, but soggy. Broccoli beef- some broccoli was over cooked and some were just right. Beef is really tender and delicious- they do coat it in flour or something to make it soft. Curry chicken- the star of all I got. I believe his is a viet style curry with simple ingredients of chicken and potato. The chicken is cooked so long that it breaks apart when you pick it up. It is also flavorful. Ordered online via yelp eats, order was ready when I got there. Friendly service. Would come back again for the curry chicken!

Pendleton Carryout Co. Menu with Prices 807 Pendleton St, Alexandria

really sad to be posting this because I loved all of their food offerings when they first opened. However, over the last few months the staff has changed, the hours have changed, and so has the food quality. My boyfriend and I loved coming in in the mornings for the breakfast sandwiches. Last week, the woman at the counter yelled at my boyfriend for walking into the open door at 10:55 am because they weren’t open for another five minutes, and then curtly told him they don’t have breakfast sandwiches in, speaking as if it was his fault that he had asked. today the people at the counter had their headphones in and didnt even fully take them out to take our order. Over the past month, they didn’t have the ingredients several times, and today they gave us a sandwich that not only didn’t have the fluffy scrambled eggs we were used to, but the egg was chopped up and not fully cooked through, the cheese wasn’t melted and they were overall soggy. As for the hours, they now dont open until 11, so for breakfast we’ve been hitting up McDonalds again, because in my book, 11am is a little for a breakfast sandwich and I dont want to be walking around midday to pick up lunch in 90 degree heat. Not going back here until they get their act together and turn back into the restaurant they were when they first opened.

International Fare – Menu with Prices – 9013 112 St NW, Edmonton

I came to International Fare (Thai food) in Hub Mall last week while on a training course for work. I was impressed at the variety and selection. They offer lunch combos starting at about $8. I opted for a Medium size including 2 choices over rice or noodles. The green chicken curry was EXCELLENT. The massamun curry had too many potatoes that had broken down and just felt super thick/pasty – so I wouldn’t order that one again. You can upcharge to coconut rice for an extra $1 as well. Two of my coworkers also had a meal here and enjoyed their food. There was a hair in one of the boxes of food but it’s hard to say when/how it happened. Maybe even while we were eating? Regardless, I’d come back here I a heartbeat for the green curry chicken! Curry on!

Japanese cuisine Masa’s YATAI – Menu with Prices – 2700-2798 Friendly St, Eugene

For anyone reading this the location is near 28th and Friendly (at least as of the date on this post). There aren’t many places to find Japanese Curry in Eugene, so when I happened to drive by this little gem of a food cart I had to stop and check it out. Masa’s is situated amongst a handful of food carts, but the aromas coming from the trailer drew me in. Kamitori was working the cart and was as friendly as can be. The #1 on their menu is the Japanese Curry, and for an extra $3.50 you can add fried chicken. It’s worth noting that I went around 7pm and 4 of the 11 menu items were sold out. After waiting a few minutes my meal was ready. The beef curry broth was fantastic, and the rice complimented it perfectly. I only had four small pieces of fried chicken on my plate, and I wasn’t a fan. If you’re ordering the curry I would skip on the chicken. There’s also a ‘salad’ on the plate, which was really just a few unnecessary pieces of lettuce. I’ll definitely visit again if I need a curry fix, also really want to try the teriyaki salmon.
