I don’t usually eat breakfast, but decided to have a breakfast burrito this morning. Yelp provided the perfect answer, of course! Saw the reviews and it was close. Asked the person at the window what kind of breakfast burrito they have, and informed me ham or sausage. I choose ham. The attendant asked if I’d like salsa with that, and I replied, please yes. After a few minutes, the arm came out of the window with a small/medium foil-wrapped burrito. And I drove away. When I got home, I noticed they didn’t include the salsa as requested. Grabbed some taco sauce from the fridge and tried it. I could taste that it was okay, kind of bland, and was not freshly cooked. Just assembled. I gave the lower rating because the asked if I wanted salsa and left it out. and they could try to put any kind of seasoning or even some green onions/chives into the burrito. I had hoped for better service and flavor.

El Molino de Oro – Menu with Prices – 728 N Tustin St, Orange

Kind of a mixed experience here. My wife picked up dinner one night, and we have had breakfast here once. I don’t really recall the food that my wife got to go, but I think it was ok. Breakfast was a mixed experience. On the positive side, my son really liked the juice and pastries he go. The bakery side of the business seems pretty good. The bread is self-serve then you take it up to the register. That makes things pretty quick. I think I will come back for baked goods. On the restaurant side, things are not quite as good. I ordered a breakfast burrito with sausage. I asked them to hold the cheese. The burrito was not memorable except for the fact that there was cheese on it. Also, I had to ask for salsa because they don’t have a salsa bar or salsa on the tables. I also ordered a small menudo. Again, it was not memorable. It was just ok. Maybe I just got unlucky because my wife said her breakfast special was good, and my son enjoyed his breakfast tacos. Mind you, I ate my burrito and a good portion of the menudo, so it wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t great. Service tends to be quite slow on the restaurant side. Maybe I’ll come back to give it another try. I want to like it, so we’ll see.

Carlitos’ Way Mexican Fresh Food – Menu with Prices – 8908 Elder Creek Rd, Sacramento

I went here to excited because there were a couple reviews that said this place has the best breakfast burritos in town and when I finally started eating it was a huge disappointment. This burrito tasted like it was made for an Irishman who loves bland food – by the way I’m Irish. This burrito was stuffed, but I don’t think the chef every heard of spices because of there sure as hell wasn’t any Mexican spices in any of the burritos contents or any other spices for that matter. Whoever thinks this is the best breakfast burrito doesn’t actually like Mexican food or have a clue what it should taste like. I won’t call it the best burrito in town but the best breakfast burritos I’ve ever eaten are at La Favorita on Florin Rd – they are actually IMO mind-blowingly good especially their carnitas breakfast burrito.

Daisys Mexican Food #1 – Menu with Prices – 1101 Kansas Ave, Kansas City

The taco queen and I had breakfast here a couple of weeks ago, and it was wonderful. I had a breakfast burrito and an el pastor street taco. The el pastor was a bit dry, and they include cabbage instead of just onions and cilantro, but it was a nice addition, I didn’t mind it like I thought I would. Let’s get to the star of the show, the burrito. First, it was huge. I cut it in half and took part it home to eat for breakfast the next day. The chorizo and eggs were wonderful, their accompaniment bar, full of salsas, was fantastic. The avocado verde was spicy, savory and deliciously full of flavor. But, the tortilla, the tortilla was one of the best I’ve had. I’m not sure if they are made in house, but they were delightful. Light, flaky, and tasty. Yum. After I placed my order I saw a sign advertising churros. Darn it, I wish I had seen it prior to paying. I’ll try it next time and report back.

Turn 3 Chicken & Waffles – Menu with Prices – 414 Dorman St, Indianapolis

When I heard that Flat 12 Brewing had a new restaurant open in their building, I made a point of heading downtown to check it out. Turn 3 Chicken & Waffles is only in its 3rd week as of the time of my visit, so it has a somewhat limited menu of breakfast items that are served all day during the same hours as the brewery. Although the restaurant has its own space on the rear left as you enter, you can order food at the Flat 12 bar which has the menu. Your bartender/server can place the food order for you. (Note that the food you order is placed on the same bill as your beer orders from Flat 12, so you don’t have to worry about fishing out your credit card twice!) The four food options available are: Chicken & Waffles, Breakfast Burrito, Breakfast Scramble, and Breakfast Pizza. Within the last three options, you get your choice of meats: ham, bacon, or chorizo. You can also get Sriracha sauce if you need a bit more heat. I ordered the Breakfast Burrito that comes with sides of tortilla chips, salsa, and cheese sauce. The burrito was huge and filled with things like diced potatoes, scrambled eggs, pepper and red onion, jalapeno, and cheese. The burrito is served without any toppings on it, but you could use some of the salsa or cheese sauce. The chef said he was looking into viable options to offer a “dressed” version of the burrito as opposed to the current hand held version. (If you need silverware, just let them know and they will bring it for you.) And the taste? Wonderful! I’m a breakfast lover anyway, so this option of a hearty breakfast meal really went well with me. And I liked how it paired with the flight of beer I had as well. No weird side tastes, just good beer and a tasty burrito. Hopefully, as more customers start checking out their food, the restaurant will add some of the best suggestions to meet their needs. For now, they are off to a good start. Review #2541

Guanatos tacos – Menu with Prices – 44540 S Grimmer Blvd, Fremont

This place is awesome. I work close by this truck and have never given it a shot until recently. I was really craving a breakfast burrito and I decided to try this place because I saw on their menu that they had one. I approached this truck and was instantly greeted. Everyone was really nice and explained to me that there were different kinds of breakfast burritos. I ordered a breakfast burrito with everything in it (not the chorizo). As I was waiting for my food, she asked if it was my first time here and I said yes. She then gave me a sample of their Barbacoa meat. That was so good! I wish I could’ve ordered that in a burrito instead. It was super flavorful! When I got my burrito and took it to work, I took a bite and instantly fell in love. Their salsa is great too with a small kick to it. I will definitely come back, especially for that Barbacoa meat!

Tacos Melano’s – Menu with Prices – 623 E 6th St, Corona

We ordered a wet burrito (green) and carne asada nachos and we were severely disappointed. The nachos did not have nacho cheese but a big glob of cheese melted and then cooked to the point where it was fried and hard on one side. The beans on the nachos were plopped down in one big mound on one side along with the rest of the toppings. But the real offense is the wet burrito. The green salsa is thin and bland and barely enough to classify the burrito as “wet”. There was cheddar cheese and raw tomatoes added to the top of the burrito for some reason. There was no crema or sour cream on top or came with the burrito on the side. There was hardly any meat or anything else inside the burrito except a lot of folded-over tortilla. I know its not super expensive, fancy food but man this was sad. You can’t put stuff like this out there. Especially when there are a 100 good Mexican places within 5 miles of this location.

Ponchos Tacos – Menu with Prices – 343 S State College Blvd, Fullerton

All I wanted was a wet burrito. They charged me $1.50 to make my burrito wet and when I went back home (I live 15 minutes away) the burrito was plain. The burrito was even wrapped like a wet burrito would. A plain burrito is usually just foil wrapped but it was foil wrapped on a plate so it would have been kind of bizarre to open up the foil to check if it was wet… Right as I saw this I called them just to pretty much tell them about it because they pocketed $1.50 on their already overpriced food. The guy on the phone obviously couldn’t give two and a half shits and said oh man just come in anytime and we can make it right… well I would think about coming back if I was paid to eat it, because the food was real average for Mexican food. Their “plain” burrito was alright. You can’t go wrong with beans, rice, tortilla, and passable Asada. Nothing special about this place, it’s overpriced and they’re using their positive yelp reviews to hype up their prices. I paid almost $3 for a shrimp taco and it was the size of your palm(think of the size of a third graders hand…) Their tacos are palm sized and are really overpriced for what they really are. The al pastor was below average, bland in flavor. Salsa selection was nice but the taste just wasn’t really there with any of them. The horchata could have been at least good, but it tasted like water mixed with milk. It was $4 for about 3 cups of milk and water which is ridiculously overpriced. I paid almost $16 for a burrito, al pastor taco, shrimp taco, large horchata and I would have felt ripped off either way if I got my burrito wet or not… There are a lot better Mexican places in Fullerton/Placentia, this place is at the BOTTOM of my list now because I’ve almost never had my order wrong from any Mexican place so this place missed with the service and food. Wouldn’t I be an absolute fool to go back? I’ve worked in food before and I know mistakes are made but this was a pretty bad mistake… It just sucks knowing you spent your hard earned money on mediocre food and served mediocrely. Don’t come here if you’re looking for that new Mexican place in town, this place definitely ain’t it! -Food: 2/5 -Service: 1/5 -Overall: 1/5

Los Potrillos – Menu with Prices – 8825 Evergreen Way, Everett

I finally decided to stop into Los Potrillos for lunch after driving by this restaurant for years. Free parking can be found in the parking lot. Discover is an accepted form of payment. Lunch menu is offered daily from 11am-3pm. Los Potrillos offers a full drink menu; however, doesn’t offer a bar/lounge. I prefer to sit in the lounge rather than the restaurant area. Complimentary chips, salsa and pico are offered to snack on while looking over the menu. The chips were harder than I like. The salsa thin and watery. The pico was good. I ended up mixing the salsa and pico together. For lunch I ordered the #4 One Burrito for $8.25: ground beef burrito served with rice and refried beans. I opted out of the rice since I do not care for Mexican rice and requested additional beans in replacement. The burrito was bland in taste with an odd cheese that didn’t seem to melt thoroughly. The beans were delicious – my favorite part of my lunch. During my visit, several families with small children dined here. Large parties can be accommodated. Staff was friendly and unobtrusive. Overall, Los Potrillos offers decent sized meals for reasonable prices. Personally I will not return to Los Potrillos for a couple reasons, one being the lack of a bar/lounge and the second being the poor chips and salsa.

Azuls Taco House – Menu with Prices – 1142 Edgewater St NW, Salem

Very underwhelming. I wouldnt call these authentic, only because I spend a great deal of time in Mexico (about every 6 weeks) and they arent even close. I could see how those who arent familer would call these “street tacos”. I Ordered the shrimp tacos. Tortilla is great and shrimp were cooked nice but wasnt very good. The shrimp is cooked in a style that I would put on a Po’boy, not in a taco. Cabbage “filler” needs some flavor, specifically a little cilantro and onions, maybe a sauce in with it. It had diced tomato that didnt add flavor and were mushy. Didn’t care for chipotle aioli sauce that came on shrimp. Ordered a side of chips and salsa and were served a tiny side of completly stale tostitos style chips and a cilantro tasting salsa that wasnt very good either. We thought it was a free sample till we realized that was the chip order. I would say slightly embarrassed that is what they are offering. I appreciate what they’re attempting but I have had better at various taco trucks around town.

Rancho De Mendoza Market – Menu with Prices – 4740 E Chapman Ave, Orange

The boyfriend and I went for a walk this morning, by the end of the walk we we’re talking breakfast. We were feeling like breakfast burritos. As we were walking by we noticed their menu on the window. Being the foodie that I am, I had to stop and take a look. I read- BREAKFAST BURRITOS. Score! We ordered 2 chorizo and egg burritos which come with rice and beans inside. Hmm. Not the typical breakfast burrito I’m used to. I’m a little skeptical. I ordered mine with no beans, because I’m traumatized by whole pinto beans, boyfriend ordered with everything. As we were paying, the owner asked if we wanted chips with our order.. sure!!! We got home, and went to town. Wow what a great burrito.. had to taste boyfriend’s beans because I noticed they weren’t whole pintos. They we’re delicious. I think it’s a Peruvian bean the white kind. Made with what I assume was lard. Holy mole! I regret not getting beans. The salsas are delicious. Taste homemade, just like my mom makes them. The homemade chips are thick, perfectly salted and fried. I didn’t get a pic because we inhaled them LoL. I can’t wait to go back to try the picaditas, tacos and enchiladas suizas!!!!

Cuñados taqueria – Menu with Prices – 1055 State Hwy 99 N, Eugene

I don’t eat gristle. If I am paying for meat, I don’t want the chewy hard gristle. I stopped by this cart after a round of mini golf. Bought a carne asada burrito for 5 bucks. I was really looking forward to it. The burrito was cold. REALLY cold. Like it had been made hours before and handed to me because, hey, look, a burrito has been sitting here and some chump just ordered one. Secondly, It was mostly rice, onions and gristle. The rice was bland. The onions were rank and the gristle was gristle. Every bite was a chore. I ended up pulling most of the “meat” out and putting in the bag provided for this monstrosity. The red salsa was tasty, but the green salsa had spoiled. It had swollen in the container. When I finally gave up trying to eat the so called burrito, my bag was filled with enough gristle for another burrito. Had I put the bag in the garbage at Cunados, it might have become one. DO NOT GO HERE!

Tacos La Patrona – Menu with Prices – 351 Long Wharf Dr, New Haven

I ordered the fish taco here and to say that I was not impressed is an understatement. On my YouTube Review, I gave the fish taco a -2 and I am giving one star (for now) I will return one day and try something else on the menu but your grease taco (not fish but grease) left much to be desired in way of FISH and or anything resembling the taste of ANY TYPE OF FISH. I mean, you are right next to the water B…….What is really going on? I need that fish taco to taste as if you grabbed a fish up the second I placed my order, cleaned it, cooked it and slapped it on my tortilla with love but instead, I received something questionable. Hopefully my next visit will leave me with a smile upon my face and I can then come back to yelp and give your food a better score but for now, HOLD THIS ONE SON!
