Take Note: 1) Only had the Hwy55 challenge 2) only been once Pros: 1) Really good service 2) Food tasted pretty good Cons: 1) Single user bathrooms 2) Limited Veggie options Full Review: After fishing with my friends for a long time and catching nothing, my friends decided that they wanted to “take the challenge.” To which I responded, “Bet.” We arrived there after a few minutes drive to a very old-looking diner aesthetic. It was a mix of blue and pink that really caught my attention. Personally, I am not a fan of the aesthetic since it looked out of date and bland. The waitress came up and greeted us very kindly. She was super nice and made it feel very friendly. Some of my friends and I decided to do the challenge, and the rest decided to not order or to order one or two things. The waitress was very accommodating. She went and told the cooks and gave us everything we requested and needed. I even spilled a drink, and she helped me clean it up without any issue. She worked fast and hard. There was not many waiters and waitresses that day; however, she provided excellent service. She brought out the challenges. The burger that I ordered for the challenge tasted amazing. It was done well, and I had no complaints. The beef patties were well seasoned and delivered a blast of flavor without fail. The buns and other accompaniments really added flavor to the burger as a whole without being overwhelming. The fries that I had with it was well seasoned and tasted good as well. To be honest, I couldn’t tell the difference after a while. The challenge was pretty hard with both the amount and the time limit. The challenge was a 55 ounce burger with a side to be completed in 30 minutes. My friends and I struggled to complete it. My other friends who ordered a regular burger said that it tasted pretty good. The size was decent as well. There was enough to make you full. The reason that I deducted a star was due to the two single use bathrooms to share with everyone and the limited veggie options. I don’t recall that many vegetarian or vegan only options from the menu. I would go back to try some of the regular food and then update this review to get a better picture of the place.

Bernardo’s Deli – Menu with Prices – 2102 Business Center Dr, Irvine

(Full review disclosure: I ordered from the deli to-go and didn’t actually eat in the place) Actually, I had never heard of this place and only decided to order it because it came up locally near my work. I was looking for something light and vegetarian so I ordered the Veggie burger special. It was a good value, for only around $7 it came with the veggie burger on your choice of bun/bread, side salad or chips and a soft drink. I ordered the burger on sour dough and was surprised when one of the workers called me because they said I didn’t select anything on my burger (just the patty and the bread) I told them I was never given an option to say what I wanted on it, I assumed it came with everything. He was extremely nice to call and check with me because if he didn’t, I would have gotten a plain veggie burger! Overall, the burger was delicious, the side salad? Eh, not so much. The burger was tasty but very hard to eat, as the bread made it fall apart super easily.

Little Big Burger – Menu with Prices – 7711 SW Capitol Hwy, Portland

This has been my favorite Little Big Burger location since it opened! Unlike other locations, they don’t blast the music so loud you can’t hear yourself think, which I and my ears really appreciate. There’s plenty of space, it’s very clean, and the employees have always been really friendly. I am really disappointed, though, by the recent change to their veggie burger option. I had come to love Little Big Burger as one of the top 5 veggie burgers in Portland, but the new offering is hugely disappointing. It seems to be some sort of flavorless textured soy protein deal, which is the worst kind of vegetarian burger, and it’s way too big for the bun size, making it difficult to eat. This used to be one of my regular burger places, but I don’t know that I’ll be going back now that they don’t have a good vegetarian option.

Rally5 Street Eats & Bar – Menu with Prices – 2310 E Harmony Rd, Fort Collins

On the whole, not my favorite dining experience. First, due to the configuration of both the indoor and patio spaces, seating our family of five was a challenge for them. Granted, we were here on a nice Saturday night so the patio was nearly full and the inside had a decent number of people dining. But most seating is either a booth or tables for four and rather than just pulling up another chair, they require two tables to be pushed together. This can be a puzzle if there aren’t two open tables near each other. The hostess was friendly though and she did make it work. We ordered both off the seasonal peach menu and the regular menu. Husband got the peach chicken sandwich. While he loved the sliced peaches the burger as a whole disappointed. All the sauces were at the bottom and when his food arrived, the bottom of the bun was completely soggy. When he tried to lift the burger with his hands it all squished apart. Kind of a mess. My pork tacos with peach salsa were okay, but somehow seemed a bit bland. The pork dominated the entree. There is a TON of pork in those tacos, which I suppose is a good thing; however you might want to consider splitting this entree. As I write this they are sitting like a stone in my stomach. My fault for eating both. Kids ordered the western burger, the very veggie burger and the chicken tenders. Son wasn’t wowed by his western burger. They very veggie burger went over better. Chicken fingers were fine; nothing special. Our server was nice, but didn’t come by very often to check in or refill our waters. It was nice to give it a try, but I don’t feel a strong urge to come back. The food hasn’t sat well with me since I left.

Wholly Grounds – Menu with Prices – 825 Wayne Ave, Dayton

I would really like to see this business succeed. The location is great, the aesthetic is appealing, and the seating is very comfortable. The first time I went I ordered a Dirty Chai and the service was fast. However, the spice was incredibly over powering – almost as if it punched me in the mouth. I believe the more experience the baristas gain in crafting drinks this will be improved upon. On my next visit myself and a friend each ordered a latte. A few minutes later two of our other friends joined us and ordered drinks as well. Their drinks came out within 15 minutes and we still had not received our lattes. After 30 minutes I inquired about our drinks and the barista stated she was behind (which is true as she was the only barista and business was steady). I explained that I understood but shared my concern of her serving many other guests who came in after me. Another 30 minutes went by before I received my latte so I waited a full hour and 20+ other folks had been served. Despite the wait, the latte was pretty good. Unfortunately, my friends latte still was not made. He waited another 15 minutes before inquiring again and he finally received his order. I am not one to expect anything for free, but it would have been nice for her to offer something for guest recovery in order to ensure she was building a base of regular guests. I was disappointed by the visit, but am willing to give it one more try.

Charlie Trumbull’s – Menu with Prices – 526 S Mill Ave, Tempe

The only positive reason I am rating this 2 stars is for the great happy hour specials. My boyfriend and I went here on a Friday night. They weren’t busy, some people here but there were plenty of open tables and plenty of staff free. We sat for a good 10 minutes and no one came to our table. We asked for menus and someone who wasn’t even working outside brought them to us and seemed frustrated doing so because she was busy and the waitress for outside should have brought them to us. We waited for another 7 minutes or so and still no service. However, said outdoor waitress was very clearly preoccupied with taking care of the table of 4 men that sat at the table right next to us. She went over to them at least 3-4 times, talked to them, got them drinks, ran cards, etc. in the time that we were waiting without any acknowledge to us at all. We were willing to wait and possibly order some drinks, but then looking at the menu they basically only sell burgers and had no veggie burger options. I was not about to order a plate of hummus or some other appetizer from their small selection for dinner. Would up leaving after close to 20 minutes of no service and probably would never go back, even for a great happy hour. Seemed like staff were focused on all the males in the place and paid no attention to anyone else – one example being the table described above but also based on other observations while I sat there with nothing to do whilst not being served for such a long time.

Brass Monkey – Menu with Prices – 723 Congaree Rd, Greenville

Went here for the opening Clemson game. Pretty cool remodel done in the old Chiefs wings location. The restaurant was barely half-full and it was a seat-yourself situation. Ordered the bacon cheeseburger, medium-rare and asked for onions in addition to the normal fixings. I also asked to upgrade to garlic fries instead of the normal fries. I was told by the waitress that upgrading wasn’t possible and I’d have to pay the full $6 for an order of garlic fries. Ok…. so I ordered the garlic fries in addition to my regular side knowing my wife would eat them. Food comes out and there are no onions on my burger, burger is cooked well-done and dry and my regular order of fries was soggy and drenched in salt. Was hoping a server would come by so I could ask for some onions or get new fries but none came by for 10 min and by that point I was past caring. Garlic fries were the only thing that came out right but they’re definitely weren’t worth the price. The rest of the night was a comical game of asking for a drink refill and guessing how long it would take for it to get to you. My buddy ordered a can of beer if their special menu and it took a solid 15 minutes to get to him. Then our waitress decided it was appropriate to snuggle up and have a kissing session with her apparent boyfriend who was seated at one of the other booths. The only positive of the evening was that Clemson won. Definitely going to stick to Local Cue from now on. Might be busier but at least the food and service are solid.

MeVell’s BBQ & Wings – Menu with Prices – 3024 New Covington Pike, Memphis

Make sure you tell them regular fries or seasoned fries! They’ll charge you for seasoned fries which is an extra $1.00, and not tell you. We were over charged twice. The double burger is the best item on their menu! It’s huge and juicy, but if you order the $8.99 special that you can get a burger, BBQ sandwich or fish with wings and fries, the burger is so tiny, over cooked, and not worth it. The wings are decent. I have eaten here several times, and was only happy with the double burger. The gentleman answering the phone is cross, and not very nice, but the lady is very nice and sweet. My family won’t be eating here anymore due to overcharging.

Clocktower Brew Pub – Menu with Prices – 200 Elgin St, Ottawa

Came here on a busy Friday night. First time at clocktower. I ordered the supreme burger with a veggie patty and pub chips. I have to say, the burger was so impressive, I could not believe it was a veggie burger. I really couldn’t. I have to send out a sincere apology to the server and manager on shift. They handled my not so pleasant skepticism with grace and were very accommodating, despite my accusations of being served a beef burger by mistake. I hang my head in shame and stand corrected. Food and service were wonderful. I highly recommend.

Darrell’s Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 5576 Fenwick St, Halifax

Darrell’s makes my favourite veggie burger ever! I have tried many different recipes, frozen patties, as well as innumerable veggie burgers at other restaurants and nothing compares. Every friend of mine that I’ve introduced to it has also loved it! I’ve tried other items on the menu (which have also been good), but I consistently order the veggie burger because I love it so much (and am constantly returning because I have a craving for it specifically). The servers are always so pleasant and it is never a particularly long wait for your order. The only con is that the restaurant can feel a little cramped when it’s busy since it’s not a huge space, but that kind of adds to the charm of it anyway.

Good Burger Menu with Prices 350 N Milwaukee St, Boise

This place has a prime location but it wasn’t enough to warrant a return visit. Located in the heart of Downtown Boise, Good Burger serves veggie burgers, chicken and beef options, along with milkshakes, French fries and side salads. Pricing is affordable, with fries starting at $2.95 for a small and burgers ranging in the $7-$9 price point. When we arrived on a Friday night, the floors were sticky, the line was hard to navigate (you have to walk through the crowded tables, and multiple items on the menu were not available. They don’t have any gluten free items (gluten was in the veggie burgers and even the fries), and they mentioned they were out of ice cream since 4 pm…it was 8 pm when we arrived. I just had the fries as the female helping us order let me know she found their veggie burger to be gross (usually places just say it isn’t their favorite) and they were out of ice cream. My brother had their BBQ burger but they forgot to remove the cheese. The food tastes like fast food and even though the location is great, you’ll easily spend $16 + tax and tip for a burger drink or milkshake and fries. The portions also seem to be average to small which was a little disappointing given the price/quality. If you’re really craving a quick eats downtown, this definitely is a spot a lot of people visit. However, if you want a good veggie burger/gluten-free items, or more artisan options for the same price, consider some of the other American restaurants downtown.

Glory Days Grill – Menu with Prices – 8253 Cooper Creek Blvd, Bradenton

We went for the first time with another couple. It was hit or miss. Our friends didn’t like their choices of bison burger or the fried shrimp. We also got a large order of the boneless wings for an app. They were supposed to be dry rub seasoned. They were nothing more than regular fried chicken nuggets. I had the Monte Cristo sandwich which was very over priced. It has much to much batter with very little sliced ham and swis. My husband liked his Glory cheese burger. It was cooked to order. Onion rings were just so -so and not very crispy. The highlight is the Margarita. It is huge and at $5, it is a definite bargain. All in all it is a sports bar and seems like a great place to watch a game and have drinks, but food is nothing special.

Buffalo Station House – Menu with Prices – 445 Delaware Ave, Buffalo

We stopped in this afternoon with the intention of trying the Station House wing challenge. For those who are unaware, the eater is tasked with eating 6 very hot wings in 20 minutes or less and anyone who completes it is awarded with a pitcher of beer. I was disappointed to find out that the challenge was not only not available, it wasn’t even on the menu anymore. The bar itself was pretty large and spacious, even though I would consider seating options very minimal. The whole place appeared to be newly remodeled and was appointed with a ton of police/fire paraphernalia. The bar seemed nice enough and the Waiter/Bartender was very friendly so we decided to stick around for lunch even though they didn’t have our preferred menu choice. We proceeded to order 20 wings anyways because it’s basically customary to eat wings at every new Buffalo bar. After a pretty sizable wait in a 90% empty bar we were brought our wings, 10 Hot and 10 Cajun. The hot looked good and were covered in sauce, the Cajun appeared to be a dry rub. The best thing I can say for the wings is that they were large and very crispy. On a flavor scale they left a lot to be desired. Although the hot looked hot, I would describe them as more of a “wet mild”, the Cajun were dry and flavorless. My wife and I ate about half of the wings and took the rest home. They were so bland that I plan to shake them in franks hot sauce before I try to eat them again. If these are considered hot wings, then the challenge must have been a cake walk. I’m picturing wings with a light sprinkle of Tabasco. Overall rating after one visit is a low 3 stars. Bar decor, wait staff, cleanliness, bathrooms, all were pretty good, however they were out of my first choice beer and the wings were poor at best.
