We had a 1-star experience at Hotel Bellwether turn into a 5-star experience due to the teamâ??s thoughtful service recovery and understanding of our situation. We unfortunately couldnâ??t stay at the hotel but during our limited time on the grounds, it lived up to its reputation for being beautiful, accommodating, and extremely pet-friendly. . . We booked a special Labor Day honeymoon + babymoon getaway via phone with the night manager. We arrived at the hotel and learned that and through a series of miscommunications on both ends, our reservation was actually for the following month (September not August), on the same date. After having driven for hours to reach the hotel, and anticipating a relaxing and celebratory weekend, we were extremely disappointed to learn that we didnâ??t have a reservation and that the hotel was sold out. The team did their best to accommodate us at a nearby hotel, but given we have a dog, and specifically chose the Bellwether for their pet-friendly policies, this wasnâ??t a possibility (and all the nearby hotels were also sold out for the long weekend anyway). . . The manager was very apologetic and ultimately gave us some petty cash for gas money for our troubles, but as we left the hotel, we still had a disappointed feeling because it felt like a halfhearted gesture given the fact that our entire Labor Day weekend was ruined. We then walked our dog around the property, used the restrooms, and grabbed some water for the long ride back. (Sidenote â?? the hotelâ??s complimentary lobby water station has the best flavored fruit water weâ??ve ever tasted â?? you have to try it!) . . We followed up with the General Manager to express our continued disappointment. He invited us back to visit another weekend, but to complicate matters more, we were in the process of moving across the country so this wasnâ??t even something we could do. We appreciated that the General Manager took the time to understand our unique situation (yes, we should have 100% read the confirmation e-mails that indicated the wrong booking date, but ultimately we missed that and were still disappointed). After a bit of back and forth, he was able to come up with a creative solution to help set up an analogous stay for us at a hotel in the city we are moving to. That took great patience and out of the box thinking, and made us ultimately feel like the hotel truly values its guests and broader community!

The Fort Harrison – Menu with Prices – 210 S Ft Harrison Ave, Clearwater

I just ATTEMPTED to make a reservation here, as we are seeing a concert at Capitol Theatre and this is definitely the closest hotel. I must say the reviews are misleading and if you click on the ‘website’ for this supposed hotel, it goes straight to a massive Scientology Website. There is no way to book a room online, so I called the ph#. The girl who answered was gracious and polite yet explained that this hotel is most definitely a ‘religious retreat’ and not open to the general public. She did not use the words “not open to general public” and I had to keep asking questions to figure this place out. Finally I explained we are going to a concert at the Capitol Theatre and just wanting a nearby room — then she clearly and politely said again that this hotel is a Religious Retreat and therefore the hotel rooms are “only for the parishioners” — so I guess we’ll go back to the Residence Inn which we stayed at before. It’s a 1/2 mile walk into downtown Clearwater… we walked it before… it’s just fine.

Bellwether Brewing – Menu with Prices – 2019 N Monroe St, Spokane

Update: We went back to Bellwether to give it another chance and were so pleasantly surprised we went back again. The customer service was excellent and the unique beers. Now we can confidently recommend this establishment to anyone yearning for a unique beer. We went to Bellwether about a year ago and were disappointed in the service, beer and over all vibe of the restaurant (like when you talk to the person next to you, you feel like everyone can hear you sort of vibe). We thought today, “you know what let’s give Bellwether one more try”. Unfortunately, we sat down and waited for over 10 minutes before we finally walked out. The one server working today (same guy from last time with the very poor customer service) was talking to the people at the bar that he had already served (clearly just socializing with them and they were the only other patrons besides us) while we sat there and waited and waited.. didn’t say hi, just nothing. Treated us like we didn’t exist and clearly was much more interested in chatting with his friends at the bar. Needless to say, we are done with Bellwether. It’s too bad since we are huge craft beer fans and have friends who are too so we will be sharing withthem and any one who asks to avoid this place! Sorry.

Holiday Inn & Suites Waco Northwest – Menu with Prices – 1801 N Development Blvd, Waco

My friend and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Waco this last weekend for the Silo Marathon. The hotel was reasonably priced and appeared to be kept clean and up to date. I was surprised when we got to our room and the couch and chair at the desk (appears to be made with fake leather) was pealing and falling apart. The rest of the room appears to be in tip top shape, so I could not understand why the furniture was allowed to look this way without being replaced? Unfortunately, I did not take pictures of these pieces of furniture to show you what I am talking about. Other than that, the hotel staff during check-in was extremely friendly and fast. I however, did not like that the breakfast was not complimentary but room service is an option, which on the flip side, is a nice option if you want to pay a little more (we did not end up utilizing this service). We did not end up eating at the restaurant inside the hotel, even though were were offered a 10 percent off coupon because it was Cinco De Mayo so we ended up at a Mexican Restaurant near the Silos. All in all, Waco has limited choices if your ballen on a budget, so we would recommend this hotel, the hotel management just needs to review some of the furniture in the hotel and consider replacing it.

Hotel Indigo Asheville Downtown Menu with Prices 151 Haywood St, Asheville

The two best things about this hotel are the location and the staff. Itâ??s just off the highway, and yet minutes to downtown Asheville (you can easily walk there). Most of the staff members are incredibly polite and friendly, which is always a breath of fresh air. Even the facilities manager displayed top-notch customer service. The room itself was clean and cute, with a spacious bathroom and shower. My only complaints here were the noise from the highway (which can only be remedied with airport level glass windows, so bring your earplugs if youâ??re a light sleeper), and the bed. That whole setup was pretty terrible… every time one of us turned over, the whole bed shook, and the mattress itself wasnâ??t great. ICYMI on the booking sites, your parking options are limited, so be prepared to pay $18/day for valet with in/out privileges if you want to keep your car at the hotel. I didnâ??t research this with other places, but I imagine itâ??s fairly common for downtown hotels because parking in general is pretty limited. As another FYI, they donâ??t let you check in until 4pm, which is at least an hour later than most hotels, so we figured checkout would be around noon. Wrong. Itâ??s 11am. We were checking out in the middle of the week and the place wasnâ??t exactly packed, but we were still told the only way we could get a later checkout time is if we were rewards members. Iâ??ve rarely had an issue getting an extra hour, especially at a smaller property that wasnâ??t booked solid, so this experience was rather off-putting.

21c Museum MGallery Hotel Cincinnati – Menu with Prices – 609 Walnut St, Cincinnati

Museum 21C in no way met my expectations for a nice hotel during my recent stay there for a long weekend. The hotel didn’t seem super busy, but nonetheless the service was abysmal. Over the course of a single day: 1. The valet clearly had scrapped my car against something causing a blue paint mark (on a white car) on the rear. When I noticed it, the manager told me that they would need to investigate what happened. I told the they could probably buff it out which they did but they replaced the blue paint with blood stains that I once again had to point out when I picked up my car. AND they still charged me the full valet rate and I have yet to hear about any results of the investigation. Definitely fully inspect your car each and every time you pick it up from the valet. I literally have never had such poor valet service at any hotel at which I have stayed. 2. I rented two rooms – neither of which had been cleaned when we returned at 7pm in the evening. When I called the front desk, the response was completely unacceptable – no apology, just full on attitude. The manager did ultimately call me to apologize given in the space of about 15 minutes I had issues with the valet and now with the rooms. 3. The room service trays were left outside of the room for hours despite calling to have them picked up. 4. I requested a late checkout for 2pm and was told that I needed to pay 1/2 day rate. That may be the policy but really excessive for a 2pm checkout after I had just been told that the room was not booked for the nest day. For me, the biggest problem was not necessarily the issues themselves, but the response to them. Aside from the manager, all I received was bad attitude, no apologies, etc. I definitely can not recommend this hotel – the value for the price is just not there.

Hilton Madison Monona Terrace – Menu with Prices – 9 E Wilson St, Madison

I was in town recently for a family wedding and stayed at the Hilton at the Monona Terrace. Let me start off by saying that the hotel is gorgeous, with killer views of the Lake and an unbeatable location to all the happening locations downtown. To boot, the staff is extremely friendly. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the bathroom was well appointed, with both a hand shower and fixed shower head. Just a few criticisms, one of which sent me home sick from three successive evenings of being unable to sleep: the comforter was very heavy and I just couldn’t get the room cool enough to make the sleeping temperature comfortable with that heavy blanket. I would write this off as a problem of a woman of a certain age, but my son expressed similar discomfort. Also, the towels are quite thin and rough for the price of the stay and, for one of the days of our stay, the room was never cleaned. Seriously, though, the stay overall was really wonderful and, as I said, the location simply cannot be beat, In fact, had the weekend not been chock full of events, I might have been content – after getting cheese curds at The Great Dane right around the corner, or breakfast at Marigold’s – to have just parked myself at the beautiful bar and watched the baseball game in the lobby. I do have one pointer about making reservations: beware through what entity you make your reservation. I did not pay close enough attention when making my reservation and ended up navigating to and confirming a reservation through a website that apparently partners with the Hilton. My room reservations were non-refundable and (here’s the killer) would not accommodate the discount code for my daughter’s wedding, which I regrettably remembered only after the fact, or I might have terminated the reservation process and simply called. When I tried to raise the issue the next morning, I was told it could not be accommodated either through the website or because the room was already booked and non-refundable. In fact, the reservation site was confusing enough that, when my bill came, I questioned the charge from that entity because it gave no indication of association with the Hilton Hotel. In short, if you are attending an event that provides a discount code, be sure to call the friendly people at the front desk of the Hotel and make your reservation over the phone to ensure that your discount code is applied; DON’T make your reservation at midnight through the website if you have a code!

State & Fig – Menu with Prices – 1114 State St #18, Santa Barbara

My friends and I had a bachelorette weekend ahead of us and the bride requested state & fig. I called in advance to make a reservation as we were a party of 8 but was told they do not take any reservations. The day of, I thought to call on our way to put our name down on the waiting list and was informed they cant do that but instead suggested I make a reservation, as it was a large party. I was extremely frustrated because they had just told me a few days before that they do not take reservations. I explained the situation and they quickly accommodated us. It was such a beautiful ambiance and service was amazing. Our server Tracey was so great and extremely friendly. She made our celebration that much better. Our party was really happy about the food and bottomless mimosas. I would definitely recommend the tomato Panini! Though it was a rough start, I will definitely be returning here when I am in the area!

Beechwood Hotel – Menu with Prices – 363 Plantation St, Worcester

We stayed in Beechwood hotel the night before we were moving into our new residence down the road. The signage is large and easy to spot. The outside looks very nice. We actually arrived at like 1:30am because we drove up from Philly the evening before and concierge was present and readily available at that time. We called to make sure that check in time would be acceptable and the staff member responded, “it’s your hotel room, you can check in whenever you’d like”. The guy who was checking us in was a little bit chatty for 1:30am after a long drive. He made fun of me slightly in a jovial way but I wasn’t particularly in the mood. Normally, I’m down for a good roast but I was tired and just wanted to go to sleep. He was friendly, and my companion who had escaped unscathed enjoyed it but I found it a bit irritating. The restaurant is very close by but breakfast is not free. Not that I care, but FYI for people that are interested in hotel breakfast. The inside of the hotel and the room itself is very regal in appearance. The little door hangers have been replaced by buttons on the wall to indicate your preference for cleaning. The room was extremely spacious, one of the largest rooms I’ve ever stayed in. The bathroom itself was amazing. There were numerous, extremely soft towels. The shower water pressure was like a fire hose. Don’t even attempt to wash just your body with your hair in a bun because the power wash shower head will leave water ricocheting all over. This is not a complaint in any capacity, I love that shit. The bed itself was also very comfortable with cozy sheets. The bathroom has a NIGHTLIGHT. How many times have you been forced to leave the bathroom door closed with the bathroom light on to avoid bumping into shit and stubbing toes? I wish every place had a nightlight. Staying in this hotel has been a great experience! I would definitely recommend it.

Mexican Villa East – Menu with Prices – 1337 E Sunshine St, Springfield

I just finished eating there, and the food was good. The service I received however was not what I expected. I had lunch alone in a booth and there were three surrounding tables. All those tables got checked on 5-6 times, the waiter made sure to have conversation/contact with them, and was super friendly…..I however did not get one ounce of that type of service. I was checked on once when I was pretty much finished with my food and asked if I wanted more water. I politely declined and she brought me my bill. Thatâ??s it. I felt so unwelcome there that it really got to me. I also politely asked for a manager and told her how I was treated compared to every table around me. She was nice about it and apologized and said she wanted anyone and everyone to feel welcome there, however, that was not the case for me. The manager said she would speak with her about it. I hope they treat people like me better. I was going to give it one star but because the manager was nice and the food wasnâ??t terrible I gave it two stars. I hope everyone else has a better experience than I did.

Sheraton Sioux Falls & Convention Center – Menu with Prices – 1211 Northwest Ave, Sioux Falls

The Sheraton Sioux Falls has a great location for attending events at the Denny Sanford Center (connected to the hotel), but I found a few issues with our room and wasnâ??t overly impressed with the property overall.Location: Excellent. Itâ??s right off the freeway and easy to find, and directly attached to the Denny Sanford Center by walkway, so there is no need to even go outside. I didnâ??t see any restaurants nearby, but they have a bar and restaurant onsite. Service: Good. Check-in was extremely fast, and the employees were friendly and helpful.Room: Average. We had a two-room suite with a king bed and a pullout sofa on the 4th floor. There was plenty of room to move around, and it was relatively clean. However, there were a few issues with the room. Itâ??s kind of worn out (especially for this class of hotel). To start, we found two long hairs on one of the pillows. Thatâ??s somewhat understandable and sometimes happen, but the noise level was really bad. We were in the atrium section and could hear EVERYTHING going on in the lobby, particularly guests socializing in the lobby after the concert. Since we used the pullout couch (placed by the door), this made it very difficult to sleep. Other:- No free breakfast. Free Starbucks coffee available in the lobby though.- The atrium and public areas are absolutely beautiful. They really gave the property a modern and upscale feel.- We had a microwave and mini fridge in our suite, which I didnâ??t see on the website. Nice touch. – I also noticed a second building (Executive Wing) that did not have an atrium, so perhaps that is quieter than the atrium. This hotel is not a dump by any means, but it wasnâ??t anything outstanding. If I were to attend something at the Denny Sanford Center, I would definitely stay here again. However, I donâ??t recommend if you donâ??t have any other reason to be in this area.

Renaissance New Orleans Arts Warehouse District Hotel – Menu with Prices – 700 Tchoupitoulas St, New Orleans

Had called ahead for late, late night check in (3am) due to plane delays. Spoke with Troy who assured me he would assign us a room, and a note would be placed on the reservation so reservation would not get cancelled. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a woman at the front desk, who was not friendly or welcoming, and acted as if I was disturbing her. I presented by identification and credit card to her, she briefly looked at my name and announced she had just cancelled my reservation. No smile, and no indication that she would honor my reservation. This was even after explaining I had spoken with a front desk agent, Troy, earlier in the evening about our late arrival. A gentleman, jumped in to assist me, after I expressed displeasure with her attitude and her inability to resolve this issue. This same gentleman, located the notes from Troy. As a seasoned traveler, and a Marriott Member, I will never be satisfied with subpar customer service. With that being said, the location of the hotel was great! The hotel lobby was very nice. The valet were on point, tho the $45 a night, added to your bill, is not cheap! The bed mattresses were comfortable, and the bed linen was more than adequate. Towels, and face clothes were soft to the touch. The room was pretty standard, except for the 42 inch tv. I was able to secure a steep discounted rate for this hotel, and would have been very disappointed if I had paid market price for this room.

Holiday Inn Murfreesboro – Menu with Prices – 1453 Silohill Ln, Murfreesboro

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AT THIS HOTEL! There are plenty of other options in the area. It is a fairly new hotel, same rooms as any other holiday inn. Customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I travel a ridiculous amount of time for my job. I stay in probably 30 to 50 different IHG hotels throughout the year. Due to my job I am never certain when I am going to have to suddenly head to the next place. I have never had an issue until this morning when I went to check out….. well before check out time. I was told that I had to pay for tonight also. When I asked why, the sales manager told me that it was because I was supposed to check out tomorrow and I did not give 24 hrs notice that I was leaving, and that it was IHG policy. When I told her that I stay in a lot of IHG properties and have never heard of this “policy” she spent a few minutes digging through some folders and found a printed copy of something she said was it. She also told me that it was on my reservation. I pulled up my reservation on my IHG app and asked her to show me….. she could not because it is not there. She was absolutely no help in resolving the issue and never once offered for a real manager to talk to me to resolve the situation.
