If you’re looking for a sleazy corporate rave party club, this is not it. If you’re looking for a chilled out hole-in-the-wall bar, you’re looking for Horstketter’s. If you’re looking for a drinking establishment that takes all major credit cards, Apple Pay, Venmo, PayPal, or has its own app, this is not it. If you’re looking for a place that takes cold hard cash (or an IOU if you go often enough), you’re looking for Horstketter’s. If you’re looking for a watering hole that has its own hand-crafted signature cocktails, can make any mixed drink under the sun, and charges outlandish prices for beer and wine, this is not it. If you’re looking for a place where the mixed drinks are always strong, the wine pours are always generous, and every pint and bottle of beer are always $4, you’re looking for Horstketter’s. If you’re looking for a raucous tavern with live bands and an onslaught of entertainment options at your fingertips, this is not it. If you’re looking for a place with a jukebox, a pool table, and a dartboard, you’re looking for Horstketter’s. If you’re not looking for Horstketter’s, it’s okay. Chances are, Horstketter’s isn’t looking for you.

Even Par Sports Bar – Menu with Prices – 5100 US Hwy 98 N # 13, Lakeland

Its that small hole in the wall bar. Prices arent bad the pours are standard. Had decent drinks and conversation while my car was being washed. I just wish they opened earlier. I have to time my car wash with the hours of operation.

Taste Fine Wines and Bourbons – Menu with Prices – 634 E Market St, Louisville

What a wonderful time last night! My best friend had spoken to me about Taste and its fantastic owners but we’d never been. When my husband and I found ourselves in Nulu he told us he’d “be there in 30 minutes!” We grabbed a window seat which was perfect for people watching and catching up. I ordered Apersol Spritz which is mixed with wine and topped with an orange slice. I expected it to be sweet but it was dryer in flavor and refreshing. Wine pours are available in 2 or 6 Oz pours and the selection of bourbon is insane. Truly they have anything you’d want. My husband loved his gin and tonic (it was good!) and then had a bourbon and ginger. He was also just as excited about his Coca Cola in a glass bottle. Mark and Jerry were as wonderful as other reviewers have mentioned. Attentive, friendly, helpful and kind – even when my husband spilled my drink … he doesn’t get out much!! I am excited about their back patio and AirBNB rental. We grabbed their card and I see a birthday celebration there in my future. I also love the mentions of how Mark and Jerry have hosted small groups and I will be keeping this in mind for work events.

Brandywine Bar and Bottle Shop – Menu with Prices – 2408 W Northwest Blvd, Spokane

I highly recommend Brandywine for both enjoying and purchasing wine and beer. I have visited several times and am very impressed with their exceptional bottle and tap list (WINE ON TAP, people, is a glorious thing). In addition to friendly, knowledgeable service, great beer/wine/cocktails and lovely food, the live music on weekends provides a very welcoming ambiance indeed. And if you need beer or wine suggestions, they can be trusted to advise you perfectly! I needed to bring a bottle of wine to a recent dinner party, and asked the owner John for his advice on what to provide for people really into wine. He suggested a Cab Franc from Oregon which ended up being such a tremendous, delicious hit with everyone that I will absolutely rely on John’s wine recommendations henceforth. So if you’re stopping by to enjoy the well-curated tap offerings, be sure to take advantage of their insightful take-away beverage advice as well.

Provisions Deli & Bottle Shop – Menu with Prices – 143 N Glassell St, Orange

Deli, bottle shop, beer bar, wine bar, sports bar, coffee shop, hangout spot… did I miss anything? Provisions Deli & Bottle Shop is a cool spot in Old Towne Orange. If you haven’t been to the area, think small town downtown / “Main Street” but with plenty of restaurants and bars, including this one. They have a Portola Coffee Roasters kiosk right inside, shelves full of interesting beers (and some wines) which can be purchased to-go, and fridges on the other wall for the more perishable beers. I was actually more interested in the beer bar. They have 20 taps full of interesting local beers from LA to San Diego. Fans of IPAs, sours, and stouts can all find something to enjoy. This is going to be a beer-only review, so skip a few paragraphs if you’re not into that sort of thing. I started with a flight. The leftmost prices on the beer menu item cards are the flight prices and vary from $3 all the way up to $12. Those upper prices do partially make sense because they’re for more expensive, high-ABV brews, but I was struggling to see how some of them are only priced at $1 less than the full 6 oz pours. Even if the taster glasses go all the way to 5 oz, that’s really not a great deal. Also, I was a bit annoyed that it sounded like I had to order four beers. I’m pretty sure most places are more flexible with the number of tasters you can order, and if it’s not convenient for the bartender to pour one at a time, it surely isn’t for the customer either. Anyway, all of the offerings in my flight tasted fresh. Green Cheek’s Drinks With Mom, Pure Project’s Murk of the Beast, Arrow Lodge’s Best Buds, and Highland Park’s Pillow landed in the $3.25 to $5.25 range. We could go over flavors and mouthfeels, but most or all of these beers are probably seasonal and therefore won’t be relevant in particular unless you’re reading this review very shortly after I’ve written it. The two other beers which I ordered toward the end of my visit were both boozy stouts and both apparently 6 oz pours. Mikkeller’s Bourbon Barrel Aged Beer Geek Maple Vanilla Shake ($10) and Bottle Logic’s Jam The Radar ($8) were both quite delicious and sweet, but neither was overly sweet. Considering that I can’t seem to find these two anywhere else via a certain beer app which Provisions Deli and other bars/shops use to list beer menus, I’m very glad that I was able to locate and enjoy these relatively rare beers. Service is fine and counter-only. The bar seating area is really tiny, so I felt fortunate that I was able to grab a seat. Water is available on the counter of the cheese/meat section, which you can find between the bar and the refrigerator. Parking is in streets or lots, and I wound up on the curb outside a seemingly free parking garage two blocks west. I will definitely keep an eye on what Provisions has to offer the next time I’m visiting the area. Their beer offerings are extensive, and maybe I’ll even get around to trying the food at some point.

Pints Alehouse – Menu with Prices – 10111 N Newport Hwy, Spokane

Great experience! Really cool options for beer and wine that can’t be found in any other place in the neighborhood, and for that matter Spokane. Stopped in for an after dinner barrel aged beer type “dessert” and incredibly had 3 different choices on tap!!! It really shows the owners are passionate about the craft beer market and introducing the rest of us to beers we might not get elsewhere. My wife wasn’t in the mood for beer and the owner was gracious enough to put together a few half glass pours of Madeira for her to try, again something that is a new, and as it turns out, enjoyable experience. They have a wide variety of options for both beer and wine drinkers that won’t leave you feeling like you just left the grocery store aisle. This place rocks.

Divided Vine Beer & Wine Bar – Menu with Prices – 861 N Higley Rd #116, Gilbert

Seriously, a gem of a spot! I have worked around the corner from here for yearrrrrs and had no clue this was so close. Wine and beer on happy hour until 7pm lured me in the door, but the excellent service and friendly guys behind the bar will keep me coming back. They had a food truck on site out back serving up fresh pizza and I saw some others bring food in to have with their beverages. We tried a bottle of organic red wine, and the happy hour price was $18. I can’t recall the last time I had a bottle of wine for under $30, let alone organic. I will be back to try out some of that extensive beer list in the near future!

Arlington Pub Menu with Prices 2700 Wilson Blvd, Arlington

I can see how reviews can swing both ways for Arlington Pub. It is, after all, a hybrid craft beer bar and coffee bar in the upstairs of the Clarendon Whole Foods. So I’ll pose this questions to my fellow beer hunters. What matters to you most … atmosphere of the bar, or an excellent selection of craft beers on tap, including a few that are hard to find, at rock bottom prices. If you are in the camp of the latter, then you will love Arlington Pub. I stumbled upon Arlington Pub a bit on accident. I was in the area and had heard lots of great things about Galaxy Hut and wanted to check them out. I got there about 4:15PM and found their door locked. Having to REALLY need to use the bathroom, I decided to hop across the street to Whole Foods, take care of business, and then figure out a place to kill time until 5PM. As I headed upstairs towards the restroom, I saw that my search for a place to kill time would be over quickly. Behold Arlington Pub. They had recently had a tap takeover from Oskar Blues Brewing, the brewery best know for Dale’s Pale Ale. Tap takeovers are a great way to find and sample beers that you rarely see. In this case, it was the excellent Ninja Cow ESB. I found it a bit dark in color for an ESB, but had that characteristic ESB smoothness. They were on the tail end of the tap takeover, so some of the OB brews were tapped, but had been replaced with some interesting options. They offer a flight, so I decided to sample a few of the other OB offerings – their 10 Fidy Imperial Stout and Gubna Imperial IPA. I also threw in selections from other breweries – Sump Coffee Stout from Perennial and Allagash Curieux, a Belgian Tripel aged in Jim Beam bourbon barrels. These are all VERY strong beers, but the flight pours were generous, and there was no upcharge on the strong brews. The flight, normally $5, was $4 for happy hour. And prices like this is what makes you forget that you are enjoying cheap craft beer on the top floor of a hipster grocery store. My pint of Ninja Cow, normally $3, was a dollar off for happy hour. Throw in a double espresso to finish off after the flight, and my tab was under $10. And the bartender/barista actually functions as a checkout cashier, so there is no need to tip and no place for tipping on a credit card transaction. (I didn’t ask if they were allowed to take cash tips … I didn’t have cash, so it was a bit of a moot point.) So if you can get over the fact that the this is a bar on the upper level of Whole Foods, you’ll find Arlington Pub is a great place to kill some time and enjoy a great selection of craft beer at insanely cheap prices.

Seltzer Club – Menu with Prices – 119 W Main St, Lexington

I was a big fan of the vibe and atmosphere as soon as you walk in. Great selection of cocktails and spirits. There was a group of four of us and we sat at the bar. It was a Saturday night and it was not busy at all. We enjoyed a nice conversation with the bartender while he made us our drinks. The reason why I’m giving four stars instead of five is because the bartender was very sloppy. He spilled a lot and wasn’t the best with making the pours into the glasses. My friend and I both ordered New York Sours. When he was making our drinks, he measured incorrectly and the level was unequal between the two glasses. He dumped them back and forth between the two glasses three times and spilled a bit of our drinks while doing it. Also, the wine float wasn’t exactly what you would expect from a bar of this caliber. It was pretty much just mixed into the drink instead of being a float on top. I’m not sure if it was because he was inexperienced or if he was just trying to show off and became sloppy. The drinks were definitely delicious tho. I would definitely return to give it another try when I am in town.

Nosh & Bottle Market – Menu with Prices – 370 West Las Colinas Boulevard #100, Irving

We stopped by Nosh & Bottle after eating dinner nearby before a show. We had some time to kill and wanted to check out their desserts. They didn’t have much left and they were all $6.16. We chose the last cheesecake and grabbed a couple of cans of beer/cider to have with our dessert. The sign said $2.49 for cans, but when they rang up we were charged $3. When we pointed that out, we were told that the sign needed to be updated but they gave us the cheaper price anyway. Thanks…I guess? While browsing the wine bottles in the cooler, I noticed that one bottle of wine had been marked $12-something and then a price tag of $15-something had been placed over it. I’m not opposed to a business raising prices – I get it, but don’t leave evidence of it! The cheesecake was better than expected – very creamy and decadent! We would have stayed and tried some of the beers on tap but we needed to get to our show. Overall, it’s a cool place and we would probably go back to try their cheese boards and beers/wine.

New York Butcher Shoppe Menu with Prices 465 Highland Ave, Augusta

First I have to send a giant thank you to one of our Yelp community members (Ron F.) for telling me for months that I needed to make it out to the monthly wine pairing hosted here. I finally took his advice and I have no regrets from the evening. For anyone local, it can be found in the middle section of the Surrey Center, all the way at the far left end, across from Finch & Fifth. So parking and shops to check out are a plenty. The wine pairing event is after hours (7 pm) so you have the place to yourself and it is only $20 a person (as a guest). Now let me go ahead and mention that if you become a monthly member ($40) it includes this wine pairing event as well as a selected bottle of white and a bottle of red wine. Plus 10% off wine purchases. That pays for itself. Back to this event. You walk in and a Greeter is being served. Pace yourself here. There will be two small plates, a main entree, and a dessert served. All of these will be paired with a different wine. And don’t worry about your glass going empty. Their pours are heavy and the team is walking around with the bottle, making sure no glass goes dry. Separately, the dishes and wines were amazing. The pasta, meat, and baking skills were top notch. Everything was plated beautifully as well. The wines each had their own personality and made me mad at myself for not being a member. But the two of them together, pure joy to the palette. A bold Cab with a dense chocolate cake, that is a capstone pairing if I’ve ever seen one. I will point out that this is a deli by day. That means there are meats, side dishes, tomato pies, of course bottles of wine, and much more available for purchase. That also means there is very little seating. So plan to stand for the entire event (about two hours in all). But due to the nature of the group there and the curiosity to see everything there, you probably won’t even care about standing (especially around that third or fourth wine pairing). I am in love with this place and look forward to returning soon (aka, next month). Attend this event, go grab lunch one day, and stop by if you are needing a quality yet affordable bottle of wine.

Rockview Liquor Store & Tap – Menu with Prices – 2002 Broadway, Rockford

This is a small bar that is in my neighborhood. It’s with in walking distance of my house, and to be honest I only go here once in a while. It is a shot and beer bar… don’t expect mixed drinks. It’s kind of dirty and looks like it needs repairs. I used to frequent it more often as I do like the seedy-hole in the wall atmosphere, but I have other bars that I prefer to go to. That and if I’m going to drink beer out of a can, I can do that at home. If you live in the area and just want to get out of the house for a quick one, this is a good place to go. If you are looking for a nightlife. Keep looking.

Bully Boy Distillers Menu with Prices 44 Cedric St, Boston

Came here for the first time on Saturday as I had a Groupon for a tour. I’ve been wanting to try this place out for a long time anyway. I scheduled my tour time in advance for 4 PM. We arrived a few minutes early and waited for a bit in a holding area by the bathrooms while the previous tour finished. The first part of the “tour” was basically them asking if you want to buy drinks from an abbreviated menu. I was fine with that, but if I wasn’t in the mood for a full drink yet, I could see how this could seem like a waste of 20-30 minutes (there was nothing “toury” about it – just waiting around and people going to the window side of the bar). I ended up getting an old fashioned and it was strong and good. Not too sweet. My boyfriend got the Hub Punch which was also good. When it was finally time for the tour, Jesse started talking about the owners, how the bully boy name came from their family horse, etc. He also talked about how they got started in booze, their trials and tests, etc before we started moving further into the distillery. We got to try a few different boozes (with big pours – geez!) and stick our head into one of the stills, which was nice. I should have seen if there was an echo-cho-o. After the tour, we dumped out into a room where you could buy bottles or merch. We tasted their bottled old fashioned and hub punch and I ended up buying a bottle of the latter (more on that later…). We went the the bar for a last round before heading out. After a few minutes, we were lucky to snag a table and the connect four game. We played (and I lost miserably) until we were done with our beverages. For this round, we got the Old Fashioned flight which had old fashioneds with whiskey, gin and rum (so good and inventive!) and the Persian Flip (gin, Persian lime, saffron, cardamom, rose water & egg white) – smooooth. I’m not going to lie – I was wasted. I only had 2 cocktails – which is nothing for me, but I think that all the tasting pours did me in! I was so out of it that I forgot my bottle of hub punch at the bar! Cut to Sunday, I called them and they said they would “make it right”. So I drove back over there and they gave me another bottle – just like that! I can’t tell you how grateful I was for this type of customer service. I would have been super bummed if I was out $27 (obviously, my own fault). I mean, I was able to show them the charge on my credit card app that showed that I had made a bottle purchase the previous night, but they could have easily been like “oh well”. Instead, they were super nice and I’m able to have my hub punch when I go away next weekend. All in all – the drinks and spirits were really good. The vibe/ambiance was great and the customer service was stellar. I’ll be bahhk.
