This place is a pretty chill place to hang. Choose indoor or outdoor seating. Inside is a bit loud but isn’t that why you are out on the town?! To see, hear, and be with people?! No pun intended but this place is “hopping”! (Get it Hops & Bottles… hopping? No?) My jaw dropped when I saw the prices on the library collection of beer to choose from and for only a few dollars!?? Hold it right there…. there is a corking fee but don’t worry, your beer will still be WAY more affordable than a beer down the street or in the heart of town. (Beers on tap as well!) The only challenge with this place, choosing which delicious beer/cider you want. You will want them all! Great place to try something new!

Lost Giants Cider Company Menu with Prices 1200 Meador Ave, Bellingham

I’m just warming up to trying cideries in the same frequency as I do craft beer breweries. It’s a nice change of pace by having just a little something different instead of having back to back beer while doing weekend tours to places that are on the “to try” list. As I started trying cideries that I am a lot more picky with what ciders and cider companies that I like as opposed to beer. Lost Giants Cider Company was a cider place that was on my “to try” list and while I was glad that I gave it a try the cider I had here just didn’t quite match up with other cider experiences that I have had so far. Perhaps I should have tried another cider over the one I picked however when doing these beer and cider tours on a weekend one has to drink small so you can keep hitting all of the stops you intend on going to with out feeling ill. At Lost Giants I got their Graf cider which is a cider beer that was made in collaboration with Boundary Bay Brewing. Normally I really like collaborations between two companies but in this case I wasn’t too impressed with what I got. While there were hops that were noticeable overall I thought that the cider was fairly tasteless. But I did find positives to Lost Giant as well. The staff was very friendly and easy to deal with and the taproom had a nice clean and crisp look to it. I liked some of the decor as well. Especially the large horizontal picture of the various mountain peaks in the area and their names… the same peaks that we saw prior when we went to Artist Point to enjoy the views and scenery there.

Barley Labs – Menu with Prices – 4015 University Dr, Durham

Been here a handful of times, and am thrilled with this new dog-friendly addition to town. The staff is tremendous, friendly, and dog-lovers to boot. A hundred small touches to make your pups at homes, with toys, beds, water dishes, and holders under the tables to hold the leashes of your dogs. Nice assortment of craft beers and ciders, with a standard of four ciders on tap on my visits, and a host of beers and decent wine menu as well. Prices are affordable, specials on specific nights (1/2 price wine the last Wednesday I went), and you can bring in food from the nearby restaurants (or elsewhere). This is such a cool concept – akin to Beer Study, but more enjoyable staff, more focus on the dogs, and a better selection of cider and wine. This will have to be a regular stop for sure! Can’t wait to get back.

Blue Sky Bar Menu with Prices 247 E Broad St, Athens

“There’s some blue sky! Let us chase it!” — Sense and Sensibility (1995) What a great bar! Huge beer selection, including cider! It’s beautiful inside – but a hard place to enter if you have already been drinking a lot in town as there are quite a few stairs. My friends and I entered at the end of our pub crawl and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. There were plenty of drinks to choose from to satisfy all 8 of us – shots, beers, cider, etc. We were seated at a table across from the bar and had to go to the bar to get our drinks – only drawback – but being the end of the night, I didn’t care as much. Getting a water back was a bit more challenging. I had to ask 3 times to get an ice water (I like to hydrate while I drink). Our shots were not an issue, nor were our beers. The bartender was helpful and not super speedy, but not slow. I’d definitely return on my next trip to Athens.

Redfield Cider Bar & Bottle Shop – Menu with Prices – 5815 College Ave, Oakland

I DON’T DRINK UNLESS I HAVE SOMETHING TO EAT Last December I went to a pub in Berkeley that specializes in sour beer. I didn’t know what to expect. At the end I wasn’t a fan of sour beer as it reminded me of kombucha tea I had growing up. About a month ago I went to this cider bar after watching “Hamilton” in San Francisco. I didn’t know what to expect when I went a cider bar. I had to admit I assumed cider would be those alcoholic ciders you buy at grocery stores. As I looked at menu one item that intrigued me was Gurutzeta, a cider from the Basque Region in Spain. I’ve heard that cider is one of the specialties in the Basque Region so I ordered that particular cider. In addition I ordered prusciotto sandwich. My approach to drinking is very European as I need something eat with my drink – whether I was in London having an ale with Shepard’s pie, or in Rome sipping wine with pasta, or in Munich drinking wheat bear while munching on a crispy pork knuckle. My first initial reaction when I sipped the Basque cider it had the bitter taste that reminded me of the kombucha tea. However when I had the prusciotto sandwhich it helped elieviate the taste of the cider. In fact I enjoyed my cider more with my prosciutto sandwich. My only knock is with a variety of selection of ciders I wish there were more food items that would compliment the ciders. The food doesn’t have to be heavy but something that enjoyable to drink with cider. If you want to have introduce yourself to cider drinking. This is a good place to start.

The Sleepy Whale – Menu with Prices – 290 S Arizona Ave, Chandler

This is a fun/different little place in downtown Chandler. If you didn’t already know, this is a beer lovers paradise. It’s a pub! If you are a liquor drinker like me….. be ready to settle for some beers or a few different wines. I am allergic to beer, but luckily they had a cider on tap that I could try. I wish I could remember the name of it because it was terrific! I think one of the top 5 ciders I have had. Their menus are on pallets that are on the wall, they don’t pass out menus, or come to your table, so I couldn’t even begin to figure out what I had. The bartenders were great, we asked them for a cider, they gave me the cider. My husband and our friends mentioned what beer they like and the bartenders found them each something they would like that they have on tap. They did a great job. Everyone loved the choices they were given, and we had a great night! You can also buy beer and wine and take (unopened of course) to go! The atmosphere is very open and industrial. They have shareable space, so you don’t have your own tables. The tables are big farm tables and bar high tops, and you sit with everyone. They have different games you can play too. They are either already sitting out on tables or up at the bar for you to choose from. That’s a fun idea to have in a pub! It is also a pretty cool concept to sit down next to strangers and say hi or enjoy other peoples company. It’s very open, lots of light, with roll-up doors to take advantage of the weather. They do not serve food but have different food trucks that come by. I am not sure if it is every night, or how their food trucks work, but if you get hungry, you can walk out to the parking lot and check out what food truck they have there for the day. Limited parking in their actual lot, so if you are coming during “busy” hours, I recommend parking in the parking garage right across the street. I have a few friends who LOVE craft beers, so I can’t wait to take them here!

New Mexico Hard Cider Taproom – Menu with Prices – 505 Cerrillos Rd a, Santa Fe

I’m sitting here relaxing outside on a sunny day in Los Angeles. We are brewing and drinking some cider from a cider place about 2 1/2 hours away. They have great cider choices mind you but I can’t stop thinking of the dill pickle cider I had there last October. I luckily was driving back to LA the next day so I drank a few pints and got a 32 ounce growler to take with me so my fiancé could experience this wonderful cider. We drank and loved this cider. They had some other great ciders as well. A tart cherry as I remember. Great space, friendly staff. I miss it and the dill pickle cider. Hands down my favorite cider of all time. Maybe not for everyone but I love pickles and I love this cider. I sadly can’t find anything like it here and anywhere near ( 3 hour journey) me. Sooooo….when is the soonest I can drive there and it will be on tap?

Hop Street Lounge – Menu with Prices – 7215 E 22nd St Suite 101, Tucson

The place is really nice and has a great vibe. I tried the beer flights but was not impressed by any of my choices. I chose all the sours, cider, fruit beer, and a few pale ales. I am not a big beer drinker so I thought my choices would be okay but I didn’t love any of them. Out of all my choices I liked the rose cider the most but still it wasn’t the best. I will be back to try the wine and some of the beers in the fridges they have. Its a really nice place but the beer flights just didn’t do it for me.

Hummus Republic – Menu with Prices – 313 N San Fernando Blvd, Burbank

This restaurant is located in the heart of downtown Burbank on San Fernando, right in the heart of where all the shops and restaurants are, and close to the AMC theater. I found parking a couple blocks away, there’s street parking and free parking lots off of San Fernando. I was greeted by a friendly staff member who happily walked me through how it worked there and every step of the process, since it was my first time. It’s Chipotle-style for Greek food. I got a bowl with a base of 1/2 spring mix and 1/2 warm chickpeas. I got lemon chicken as my protein; they have falafel, steak, and other options (including a vegan option). You then choose three dips/spreads and I got spicy hummus, olive hummus, and eggplant hummus. Toppings – there are a ton of options and I pretty much got all of the free ones, everything from kale salad mixture to beets to cabbage to jalapenos; my bowl was stacking up higher and higher! The final step is choosing how you want it dressed – I got traditional tahini. Once my bowl was finally complete, I was STOKED to try it, but also scared because it was towering so high so I wasn’t sure how to mix everything without ingredients falling off. Everything was delicious and it’s a huge portion. I could only eat 1/2 and saved the rest for later. I do have to say, after I had my lunch here, my stomach was pretty upset. I think it was just protein overload from so much hummus and the base of 1/2 chickpeas too. Something to note, just because it says you can choose 3 dips/hummuses, doesn’t mean you need to get all 3! I definitely will come back here, I might just change up my bowl so there aren’t as many beans/hummus. Super delicious though!

Nine Pin Cider Works Menu with Prices 929 Broadway, Albany

Support local, support cute shops, support cool hang outs! I have never been to Nine Pin, really never had the cider much either, but mentioned going while we were at Druthers down the way and we all decided to go grab a flight. They have some parking but I can imagine it being hard to find a spot on a nice weekend. The outdoor area, entrance, tap room, everything is so well decorated, cute and inviting. I just enjoyed the feeling of walking in there with the bright greens and cool artwork. The staff was very pleasant and helpful in choosing a flight. I must admit, I do not like cider. Why did I want to come? Simple – Local cidery, good reviews, must visit! To my delight, they actually offered quite a few beers for tasting as well! I went with trying 3 of their dryer ciders and one IPA they offered. The flight was $7, not a bad deal. We sipped on them for about 30 minutes for our visit. Everyone’s favorite cider was the “Dark n Stormy”. It was nice they also offer snacks, such as hand pies and cheese plates. Very cool! I would like to come back to do some more tastings and enjoy the atmosphere. If you like cider this is a must stop!

R.T. O’Sullivan’s Sports Grill – Menu with Prices – 7919 E Thomas Rd Suite 101, Scottsdale

Been in 15-20 times including the first week they opened. The first week was rough and I didn’t hold up a lot of hope for them. Came back about four months later and they had worked out the bugs. The food is good to very good with large portions overall (just try to finish their tasty meatloaf plate!). Prices and selections are equivalent to, say, Cold Beer & Cheeseburgers but without the Old Town location – in other words, reasonable prices but a buck or two more than they probably should charge considering their out-of-the-way location. But what’s a buck or two? Good selection of (nice and cold) draft beer and their namesake drafts (Sully’s) are both tasty and well-priced. Bar service is usually attentive and friendly. It took 5-6 visits for the regular bartenders to remember me (which is commendable because I don’t draw attention to myself to get service). Overall, customers seem happy and the vibe is positive. The live entertainment is hit-or-miss but music is a subjective matter. I live in Florida but stay in Scottsdale (across the street) during the spring and fall. Not sure I would travel far to go there (as there are so many places to choose from in the Old Town area) but I’m glad it’s next door as it’s a big step up from the previous Pranksters Too bar.

Number 12 Cider – Menu with Prices – 614 N 5th St, Minneapolis

This was my second visit here and I must say I came out liking the ciders a lot more than the first. I took my friend who is completely gluten free so it was the perfect place for us to meet up. We both enjoyed the ciders and then got a pizza from the truck outside. I had heard amazing things about this pizza from others and not only was it gluten free which I was hesitant on but it was GREAT. We got the margarita pizza and it was gluten free, it came out quick, fresh, warm, and very tasteful. The cider I had (can’t remember the name) was a lot better tasting than my first visit. I’m not a huge cider person (reasoning for the 4 stars and not 5) but this is a great stop to add on your list when hopping around the north loop. Would be a great first spot since they have a few drinks that are similar to a mimosa as well! Happy to see this place doing well – it is so adorable inside, makes me want to hang out there all day!

Adams Bistro – Menu with Prices – 221 Pelham Rd #100, Greenville

1st timer dining with a Bistro regular for girls night! My girlfriend has eaten here numerous times & has never been unhappy with her meal. I ordered jalapeño firecracker appetizer to munch on while I waited for my friend to arrive. Wow! Delicious and Hot! A few bites had my mouth on fire! I also ordered the blackberry cider, but received the black cherry/rosemary seltzer by mistake. But it looked yummy so I decided to keep it. Yes, it was fantastic, so I’ll be looking for these at the grocery store next week. I had tons of time to look over the menu, and was very surprised at just how extensive and varied the menu was. I went from wanting pasta to choosing a sandwich. Actually, there were about 3 sandwiches I wanted to try & it was hard to narrow it down. I finally decided on the Cuban & believe me, it was a BIG sandwich! Flavourful & juicy on a wonderfully crisp hoagie. I ate only half and was totally full so I’ll be working on that other half later today. The space is very small and the tables do seem close. I didn’t notice at first because I arrived a little before 5pm. By 6pm, this place was hopping! It did get loud but it wasn’t distracting from our great conversation. Regarding other reviews mentioning the noise level, I could see this not being ideal for a marriage proposal, but I’ve already informed hubby we’re going back for date night soon. No issues since he popped the question a while back :). The dining room is somewhat dark and beautifully decorated with artwork that is for sale. As for price, alcohol starts around $4 and goes up from there. I was happy to see what I consider to be normal liquor/wine prices. Too many places in Greenville wanting to charge $10 plus for alcohol these days! Nice to see a wide array of prices on their drink list. Sandwiches & salads start around $10 and other entrees were priced up to about $25, so you can make this place more affordable if you need to. Overall, a good experience that makes me want to return.
