7/19 Update: Had a very good lunch today at Hiccups. I created my own combo of Kung Pao chicken with Pad Thai noodles as a lunch special. The taste was great and I prefer the noodles over rice. The lunch special is basically an entrée with a drink. Place was reasonably busy although I got in and out quickly. I definitely recommend it. Post from my first visit: I have wanted to try Hiccups Restaurant & Teahouse. Admittedly I was drawn in by my curiosity of a place serving Pad Thai, Pho, and Churros. Seemed like an odd combo but I was immediately interested. The restaurant is inviting with clean, simple decor. Honestly it does not read anything specific. Could be a coffee house, sandwich shop, or any number to places. It definitely does not have a typical not Asian or Mexican feel. Fast casual format where you order at the counter and the food is delivered to your table. Now the food. Cajun Fries: I ordered Cajun Fries as an appetizer. Pretty basic french fries with Cajun seasoning. $4.55 seems like a lot for a basic order of fries. Chicken Pad Thai: The main entree was Chicken Pad Thai which was served nice and hot. Visually really attractive. However; I must say the consistency of the noodles was a bit less than desirable. Tasted very chewy. Literally it was tough to bite through the noodles. Although I ordered chicken, it was served with tofu as well. Not a fan. I ate half of the Pad Thai and brought the rest home. I would not go out of my way for the Pad Thai here again. Churro Sunday: This is really what attracted me to come to this place. Their churros looked amazing. I opt’ed for the Churro Sunday. This included two churros cut into pieces, a scoop of ice cream (I chose strawberry cheesecake), whipped cream, chocolate & caramel drizzle, coconut flakes and toffee. A very attractive dish and tasted delicious. I would go back just for the desert. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience. I was disappointed that the Pad Thai did not have more flavor and softer noodles. The churro desert saved the experience. The staff was super friendly. I would rate the noodles average at a 3 and the desert a 5. Add the overall experience and friendly staff and I will average it as a generous

Churroholic – Menu with Prices – 2000 E Rio Salado Pkwy #1068, Tempe

Okay let me begin by saying I attempted to go to Churroholic two times prior but the lines where super long. So it turns out trying for a third time was the trick, or maybe it was the fact that it was a rainy Thursday night, and ASU was back in session. Well either way it was a win for us and Churroholic made for a great way to enjoy a sweet treat on a surprise date night. Now since we had never been here before and the fact that almost everything is churro related how could you go wrong. Especially when they offer 5 types of Churros and 3 Churro Specialty desserts (Churro Sandwich, Churro and a scoop of Ice cream, and Churro Sundae. Now if churros are not t your thing (don’t know how that is possible) don’t worry this place has Ice Coffee, Hot coffee, Blended Coffee, Milk shakes, Milk tea, and Ice Cream ……OH MY!!! Like I said other sweet treats besides Churros. Alright now that you know the menu, we decided to try the Churro Sundae!!! Seriously this sundae is huge. Now remember, we have never been here, and the lady in front of us placed her order for a Strawberry Churro Sundae , we simply said “we will have what she’s having.” I mean come on, wouldn’t you? So we move off to a table and in just moments our name is called and we go and pick up our order. Now just to give you a mental picture of how big this thing was imagine a paper boat the size of both of your hands next to each other. Now picture this boat filled with two sugar churros cut, with 1 gigantic scoop of ice cream, whip cream, caramel and chocolate drizzle, coconut flakes, Toffee, and we added strawberry’s as an additional topping. WE HAVE NO REGRETS!!!! Well, actually we had one, we couldn’t finish it , even between the two of us. However we got Churro Sundae wasted and if we ever find ourselves there again we may have to opt for just a plain Churro ….. maybe.

Churroholic – Menu with Prices – 9340 W Northern Ave, Glendale

Tried this place for the first time with some of my girlfriends a couple of weeks ago. Before I get into why I gave it a 3 star rating let me break down a little bit about myself for you, you know for personal reference. I love churros, we’ll all donuts really, in any variety, form or from any culture. Fried dough is my literal weakness. It’s a problem really that I struggle with every day. The quality of these churros was only ok in my book. You can get like a multitude of different toppings which I find just takes away from the actual flavor of the churros. I got a cookies and cream churro and a chocolate churro with sprinkles both of which I brought home to my husband and 11 year old who are also big fans of churros. They didn’t taste bad, I mean unless undercooked a churro is still pretty awesome, but I wouldn’t write home about them either. They were also super pricey which is expected because it’s kind of a kitschy product, but for the amount of time you have to wait, how tiny the store is and the quality of the product you get is just kind of not really worth it. It’s a great place to try if you have never been but probably not worth revisiting. Side note, get the churros from Costco, they are inexpensive and freaking awesome!

Churros Los Cuates – Menu with Prices – 1526 S King St, Santa Ana

Best Churros ever!!!! I am a big churro addict but finding a good churro is so hard! I found this place on yelp so I went to try it. The little truck wasn’t hard to find it’s right next to Stater Brothers. The guy was very friendly taking our order. I got the basic $5 bag of churros just to start and my hubby got a big one with two toppings; guava and nuts. They were both AMAZING!!! Not too sweet and not too doughy. They were just perfectly sweet and crispy!! And to top it off the guy was just super nice and gave us a free sample of the churros with lechera and strawberry jam!!!! I will be ordering this next time for sure I highly recommend it!!!!

Amara Cafe & Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 55 S Raymond Ave, Pasadena

GIVE ME ALL THE CHURROS. Last summer, some friends and I rented a bus and designed a taco and churro tour in San Diego. We went all the places and ate all the things. I swear we gained 5 lbs. that day. But we live in LA, so knowing where to get churros in San Diego is of limited help to us when we have a churro craving at home. So we took to Yelp. The reviews for Amara Chocolate & Coffee were outstanding and the churros looked amazing, so we decided to go and give it a shot. 15 of my girlfriends and I invaded, all at once, and the staff couldn’t have been more delightful or inviting. They helped us pull tables and chairs toward one another, got us water, and made menu recommendations. (This is a counter order situation.) They weren’t the least bit overwhelmed by 15 people coming all at once, asking a bazillion questions and peppering them about churro preparation and dipping sauces. Then the churros came out. My word were they delicious! Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, chocolatey in the sauce. All as God intended. To say we were happy is an understatement. We were delighted. And we will be back.

Sticks and Shakes – Menu with Prices – 3200 S Las Vegas Blvd #8505, Las Vegas

Hello yelp I would just like to inform the world and inspectors that THIS PLACE VIOLATED SO MANY HEALTH CODES while giving me a poor customer service, and food that should not be served. Being from out of town I had know idea this place has 2 star on yelp. I ordered a cheesecake on a stick and churros. The counter girl (@6:37 pm Nov.2) put the churros in the mini oven in the back and then handed them to us. When I bit the churro the center was STILL FROZEN. I informed her and her work mate with his phone out says out loud “that’s the not first time that’s happened today” and walks away. In addition! instead of apologizing for her undercooked churro she takes the same batch and MY BITTEN CHURRO, WITH OUT GLOVES and places in BACK INTO THE OVEN. I nearly panics because of the thought of cross contamination, the cleanliness, and how many time had she done this with other peoples food?? What if someone had some contagious illness and I catch it because she’s to lazy to make a new batch?? The cheese cake I was served came from the display window which I don’t mind but it tasted like it’s been out all night because it was so hard then when you bit it, it would bend like rubber and had chunky hard pieces to chew. When I asked for a refund she denied me claiming she didn’t have a manager available to approve it and just said “yeah sorry.” So I have to pay for food that was technically illegal to serve and just deal with it. WARNING DO NOT EAT HERE.

The Loop: Handcrafted Churros – Menu with Prices – 2202 N Tustin St Suite C, Orange

Another IG hype spot -__- So I’m the queen of desserts, I love all kinds of sweet treats and pasties. Very few desserts I don’t like LOL! I love had the good and the bad, the hyped up stuff and the under the radar desserts. I can always base a dessert on their most basic item, if you screw up one of your basic items then I don’t need to try the over the top, extra stuff. To me, it means you need to perfect your main bread and butter item. I’ve been wanting to try this place ever since I saw them on IG! Everything looked so magically and delicious LOL! I finally got the chance to try Loop on Monday evening and I wasn’t impressed once I really saw the true concept and little mishaps I witnessed. First off for 10:30PM on a weekday this place was still packed with large groups. This brings me to my first gripe. There was only ONE employee who had to take orders, ring them up, then head over to the churro station and make all of those orders by themselves!! All that work for one person to do is unacceptable. I know there was others in the kitchen that were making the churros and the drinks but there why isn’t their at least one more person out on the front to help out?! Once we stood in line long enough and saw the actual process of the churros I wasn’t impressed. It’s just churros sitting under a heatlamp and an icing station where you slap on the icing and add ons. Finally, a second person comes out and by this time I already know what I want. A basic churro with cinnamon and sugar. The employee asks us if we want a fresh churro and why not?! Who wouldn’t want a fresh churro compared to the ones sitting under a heatlamp for who knows how long?! We sat at a table while we waited for my churro and I noticed all of the tables including ours were filthy. Dirty and sticky! Did they forget to wipe the tables down?!! I got my churro and was out! I’ll give them credit that my churro was hot and fresh but the taste of it I’m still not sold on it. As others have said in their reviews, going to Costco and getting their churros can suffice and taste great if not better. Loop is definitely a gimmicky, IG worthy place no doubt about it. Do I need to go back? Not anytime soon. Now if you want IG worthy pictures then this is the place for you. If your reading this Loop, please clean your tables!!! -__-

The churro?s Boutique – Menu with Prices – 5725 Johnston St, Lafayette

The owners are the sweetest people and the churros are made fresh while you wait! They blessed us with this little extra heart churro for our anniversary today! It is well worth the trip to and into the mall to get some!! I got the cream cheese filled and my husband got the chocolate!

Cesiah’s Panaderia – Menu with Prices – 1519 34th St, Lubbock

I’ve been here multiple times and every time, the breads and pastries have been excellent. Every day, there is a different selection of items and there are many breads to choose from. The breads are also very cheap, ranging from $.50 to $1, which is a very good deal. My favorite things to get here are the churros and the cake. The churros are filled with cream so the contrast between the crispy churro and soft pastry cream is really nice. I think that the churros are baked because they aren’t as greasy as typical churros, which I like as it doesn’t leave me feeling heavy. I like the cake because it is very moist and has the right amount of sweetness. There are different types of cake, but my favorite is the one with strawberry and cream cheese swirls. They also have the typical pan dulce such as conchas and cuernos. Their conchas are pretty good. The bread is extremely soft and the icing on top adds a nice sweetness. The cuernos are like the conchas but shaped as a horn and the bread is lightly seasoned with cinnamon which is a nice addition. Along with bread, they also have typical Mexican candies and snack, such as mango lollipops with chili and tamarind. They have a fridge where they keep things like oaxaca cheese and rice pudding. They also have fresh tortillas. The place is pretty sketchy but I highly recommend trying it out as the breads and pastries are very well made.

Fernando’s Churros and deli – Menu with Prices – 827 E Montecito St, Santa Barbara

I have never met anyone that does not appreciate Churros. Unfortunately for me I was stuck thinking that the best Churros I could get in Santa Barbara were at Costco (eh) and at Pollo Loco (uhmm), then rumors around the neighborhood started swirling about “Fernandos Churros” so I hunted for them on Yelp only to realize that they weren’t listed, luckily for me I found them on a Facebook page and was fortunate to call them and find out that they were serving them up at Casa de La Raza from 5-7. So I made the drive, much shorter than the one I made for Churros Calientes in Santa Monica. They have their truck parked outside and the side entrance leads you to the order/pick up Window. Such friendly people that they let me in to see the process. Everything from scratch, they make their own everything. They’re automatically crispy on the outside and warm and spongy on the inside when they’re handed to you in the bag. Savor them because even if you take your time with them and let their temperature lower you’ll be surprised that they don’t get the soggy feel that most Churros do after they’ve been left in the cold. The only negative thing I find in these is that there is a little hint of bitterness to them at times, I haven’t made out what it is exactly though! Nonetheless you really have to try them if you never have. They are 5$ for a roll of them that they cut up for you in pieces. As shown in the picture, yes you get that whole roll in one order. Finding parking on the street is easy too. A hidden gem for Churro lovers! Oh, they also do events!

Sweet Loring Frozen Yogurt – Menu with Prices – 801 N Loring Ave, Laredo

Nestled in a neighborhood, Sweet Loring is the cutest place! They have so much more than just ice cream though. Delicious burgers, hot dogs, fries, and a variety of other desserts are available. Craving churros and my husband wanting ice cream we found this place thanks to Yelp. There is ample seating inside and out. It’s family friendly and they have board games, a giant connect four, and even a room showing movies on a big screen. In the main area there’s a stage and a microphone set up so I’m guessing they may offer karaoke or some other type of live entertainment. The outside grounds are beautiful and inviting. There’s plenty of seating to enjoy the outdoors as well. The ice cream and frozen yogurt is self serve as is the toppings bar. They have a large variety of fruit, nuts, and candy you can add. I saw large Snickers, Reese’s, and Butterfinger pieces if candy bars are your thing. Every type of sauce is available from chocolate (dark, milk, white), caramel including cajeta, chocolate shell, butterscotch and even honey. Seriously the choices are almost limitless. Once you create your ice cream they weigh it and you pay per ounce. The churros were among the best I’ve had. An order is huge and shareable. I love the different sauces they give for dipping with the sweetened condensed milk being my favorite. This place definitely hit the spot for our churro and ice cream cravings. Next visit we’ll be sure to set aside more time to enjoy everything Sweet Loring has to offer!

Nana thai & Teriyaki – Menu with Prices – 430 E 25th St #37, Tacoma

My boyfriend and I came to the Freight House Square area to get macarons from La Waffletz. However, we wanted to have a quick lunch. There were so many places to choose from but we settled on this Thai and teriyaki place. I ordered the spicy chicken teriyaki and my boyfriend ordered the pad Thai. I believe it was $8.95 each and a bottle of water for $1. Good prices. We both love spicy food so he had ordered the pad Thai dish in 5 star spicy level. The wait time was average and we were excited to dig in. Let me start by saying the portion size is very generous. We were able to eat and become full with half the portion. My spicy chicken was good. The chicken wasn’t dry and had a nice spice level to it. Two very large scoops of rice lay beneath the chicken. It also came with a salad and a ranch base dressing on the side. I didn’t really care for the dressing but the chicken and lettuce together is also a good combination. My boyfriend didn’t like his pad Thai. He mentioned that the noodles were really wet and had an off taste. I tried some and agreed something was off. The noodles could have been stir fried a little longer so they could be softer and for more of the sauce to coat and absorb into them. We both agreed that we would definitely not order that dish again. Overall, it was an ok lunch. Really nothing to write home about. The staff was very friendly and I’d recommend to anyone looking for a big portion of average Asian food.

Honchos – The House of Churros – Menu with Prices – 5800 Babcock Rd, San Antonio

So if you wear latex or ponchos And ate supper, or breakfast, or lonchos You’ll love these yum Churros More than Jesus (who rose) (And rose just to go eat at Honchos) Any given day or night, you can see me Honched over in pain because I ate way too many Churros that day. I wonder who runs this place. He’s surely the Head Honchos of the place. Get it. Get it. We were tickled that we saw a couple of cool white dudes serving Mexican Churros (authentic too), to line full of all-Latin, mostly-Mexican people. Including my Barbie of course who has plenty of Mexican blood in her as well as other types of things from other countries if you know what I mean. So anyway she wasn’t as thrilled with the Churro as I was, and probably would give it three or four stars – but me I thought it was really tasty and probably as good or almost as good as the one that we had earlier in the day at the Churro place in the Barrio. I think she didn’t like standing in line in heels, or being served something very Mexican by very non-Mexicans, but me, I don’t care about that stuff. I just loved every bite, and the line moved pretty fast anyway, like at your Dad’s all male brothel. They were generous with their sauces (unlike most reporters with their sources), and they have some interesting concoctions and they taste really good. The prices are reasonable and I am a big fan. It wasn’t the best thing we ate in San Antonio but certainly considering the price and that it is a food truck I definitely give it 5 stars.
