I wonder why they served us in to-go boxes? Oh because the meal is 2servings. You won’t finish it all. I recommend sharing with another person 1 plate. I don’t try out many teriyaki places because they never meet my expectations. As soon as they served us our plates/boxes I immediately opened mine to see. And right away you can tell the sauce isn’t any good. Looks like coming from a can & just tossed on top. I try the chicken & it’s so chewy. Takes awhile to chew down. If it wasn’t for the white rice. I wouldn’t be able to eat down my food. Being eaten separately was impossible. That means the chicken wasn’t any good either. So here I am pretty much forcing myself to eat as much as I can. Because maybe I was overthinking it? So whatever we end up going home. And as soon as I get home I aim straight for the bathroom. Now I’ve never had food poisoning but I swear this is what it felt like. My stomache was aching like never before. And I make 2 bathroom trips back to back. I put myself to sleep early because I felt so sick. Next morning I run into the bathroom again. I’m still cleansing that teriyaki. I feel like I’m hungover. I want to throw up. My stomache is still in pain. These people are cooking the food too fast to serve everyone on time. Meaning their not cooking their food right.

Wok N Roll Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 16 Church Ave SW, Roanoke

I’ve tried the Teriyaki Chicken and the Teriyaki shrimp. I prefer the chicken. It’s really good!! This food is unique, it’s not like other Japanese or Chinese I’ve had before. It kind of has it’s own spin but I do really like it. It’s a BIG portion so I can easily make two meals out of one. I have not tired any sushi, but I would be more inclined to do so if they served a tuna roll

Kyoto Ka Downtown – Menu with Prices – 300 Madison Ave, Toledo

So this review is mainly based on service. Me and my friend got here at 1pm (1251 to be exact), for what we thought would be a quick lunch date. We were seated and the waitress took our drink order. We then asked her to give us a little bit of time so we could select something from the menu. A little bit of time to her meant coming back almost 20 minutes later to finally take our order. So we both ordered bento boxes. I had fried rice and my friend had white rice. Didn’t think it would take that long to make, as bento boxes just consist of your choice meat, California rolls, salad and rice. Really all pre-made items! However we didn’t get served till almost 2pm! We literally waited almost a whole hour for food! First of all, the restaurant was not even crowded. Second, it’s not like we ordered these extravagant meals that took a while to prepare! We literally ordered basic bento boxes. We were both so annoyed at the point our food finally came out ! Then, our waitress got our rice orders mixed up, didn’t put teriyaki sauce on my friends beef teriyaki and literally dowsed my (what I’m assuming is Tyson chicken) with sauce. Plus for food that took so long to make, it was on the cold side. The only reason why I am giving the review 3 stars and not 2 is because 1. The food was not bad, although basic, it didn’t taste horrible. 2. My waitress was the only one serving people in the restaurant so she was probably just overwhelmed with orders. Plus she did make sure to constantly refill our drinks whenever we were low. But overall, I would not come here again. Bento boxes are kind of a staple at most Japanese restaurants so there is really no reason to come here for one. Plus the presentation was kind of sloppy. And there is still no justification for the extremely long wait time we experienced.

Jameson?s Pub – Menu with Prices – 2702 Main St, Santa Monica

I was already planning to post about the horrible service here. But now that I’ve woken up with food poisoning I’m more concrrned about that. Of the people working there last night only 3 were actually doing their job. I think our servers name was Sean. He was trying to do his job but when he would go put in a drink order, the guy working the bar would ignore him. Felt bad for Sean at first but it’s a domino effect so it sucked getting everything late. Also they served our drinks to the table next to us. The people next to us were walking around with them asking whose they were. Then I asked if they could pour me a new one and it took like 25 minutes cause when sean asked the guy at the bar i saw the guy roll his eyes then just goof off and do nothing. It wasn’t until Sean asked one of the girls (person no. 2 of 3 doing their job) to make it since that guy doesn’t want to. Also, the short waitress was extremely rude. She was serving the table next to us and the guys there were complaining cause she kept stroking their arms when she’d check on them. When Sean went on his break he said that waitress has your card so let her know if you need anything. When my friend asked if he could order a drink she said yes and turned and walked away so swiftly….like wth he was about to put in a drink order. More concerning, i woke up early thus morning with vomiting diarrhea and a fever. I had 3 fish tacos yesterday night aside from my protein shake in the morning. So it was the fish tacos. Maybe they did it on purpose because i asked them to repour my beer. I wasnt going to tip because it was such a horrible experience but i felt bad that sean was trying so i just left him 5 bucks which is barely over 10%. Sorry Sean but this place does not have it together.

Teriyaki Chicken Bowl – Menu with Prices – 473 Stony Point Rd, Santa Rosa

This place is so so good! The portions are really great too. The vegetables are always just right meaning they are steamed just enough to still have that good crunch. The rice is always cooked very well and the shrimp is amazing! I usually get the Cajun shrimp teriyaki which is season incredibly. My husband gets the shrimp teriyaki and always loves it! I’ve also had the Cajun chicken teriyaki which is also pretty good although I prefer the shrimp but my cousin loved that and the chicken teriyaki. They always give a great amount of teriyaki which is so good! And their homemade chili is bomb! The staff is usually super nice unless the two younger girls are there, they seem to be bothered by everything.

Fast pho teriyaki – Menu with Prices – 5604 Portland Ave E, Tacoma

Fast Pho Teriyaki is on my way home, so I made the stop for dinner. I had the chicken katsu and my wife got the beef yakisoba. When I saw the sign for the shop I didn’t really know what to expect… but I was a bit surprised at how clean in the interior was. The owner is very nice and easy to talk to. The food came out fast. I took it to-go, which was a few minute drive from the restaurant. When I opened the katsu, I could tell right away that it was very dry. Tasting it validated my assumption. It was so dry that even with the dipping sauce it was hard to eat. The yakisoba was pretty good. It was actually tasty, but it was definitely on the saltier side. I would never order the katsu again, but I did give them another shot and got the chicken teriyaki. It was also pretty good… it’s hard to mess up chicken teriyaki though. I’d recommend this place to anyone that passes this place on the way home, and wants a quick dinner option. I wouldn’t come here with my family for a sit down meal.

Chopstick Japan – Menu with Prices – 2801 Wilma Rudolph Blvd #8006, Clarksville

We often eat here every time we come to the mall. They are always handing out Chick Teriyaki samplers on a toothpick. They cook the Teriyaki and prepare sushi both in front of you. They give you a huge portion of Chicken Teriyaki and it is really good- it seems it lacks something, but I think that is because I cook with a lot of seasonings at home. I can’t eat it all so I eat the other half later. It is what we usually get and is only $5.99, but I do order their sushi and I like it, although I am no sushi expert (I’ve only tried sushi at two places so far). There are 35 choices. There are 7 sushi roll options, 6 Teriyaki options(3 meats), miso soup, tempuras, salads, specialty rolls, and drinks. Of course I’ll go back.. I always do. I took off only one star because as far as my palate is concerned, I would prefer if he didn’t sear the meat so much, but that is only preference, I think. They are also nice people. A man and a woman.

Lucky Teriyaki – Menu with Prices – 7250 Pacific Ave k, Tacoma

I’ve been wanting to try Lucky Teriyaki for a while but it seems whenever I remembered about going it always fell on a Sunday. A day that they weren’t open so I had to “kick the can down the road” until I remembered to go here on a Saturday. Lucky Teriyaki is indeed open during the week but usually after working hibernation in the house is more important. It seems like they are known for their fish and chips here but I wasn’t exactly in the mood for that so I went with their Chicken Teriyaki which has become a new favorite of mine since moving to the Pacific Northwest. I really enjoyed the Chicken Teriyaki here. It had a good flavor and seemed to be of an upper quality as far as the food goes. Service was prompt and friendly which made this meal all the more pleasing.

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 3814 W River Rd, Tucson

WORST Popeyes I’ve EVER been to. Every single time I go through the drive thru my order is messed up and/or missing items. Tonight was the LAST STRAW, and I’m not talking about the fact that I didn’t receive any straws for my drinks! Not only did I wait patiently while they had to cook more spicy strips, but while waiting they run out to tell me they only have 2 biscuits left, I say ‘that’s fine I’ll still take those 2’. Then a minute later the kid runs out again, ‘nope sorry, they are out of biscuits’, but will take 6 mins to make more. Ok, I’ll wait on more please. I was offered a dessert for my troubles, so that was nice. Finally all food comes out and we’ll, here I go assuming it’s all there as the kid proudly boasts when he brought it to my car. So I drive home. I get home to find that part of my order is missing. I try to get over it because it’s 9:35 at night and I really don’t want to drive all the way back. Then I take a big bite of my ‘fresh’ spicy strips… Something is off here. I take another bite…. Yup, these are undercooked. WTF?! That’s it! I swear on all that’s Holy, if I get Salmonella poisoning I’m suing!

Ume Grill Skewer House – Menu with Prices – 1733 Pearl St, Eugene

So.. I’m not very happy.. I’m just a regular guy that really likes teriyaki. The chicken “teryaki” was awful. Plain and simple it was awful. Chicken teriyaki is comfort food, it’s not supposed to be some pretentious thing that is trying to be something it was never meant to be? In trying to “re-invent the wheel” by making something that resembles more of a salad with a little bit of WAY over seasoned chicken and the ENTIRE dish tasted of crab roe, or some kind of really unpleasant fishy quality to it, I’m pretty sure there was umami in the sauce for the chicken? My point is I paid for chicken teriyaki and I got something TOTALLY different.. the ingredients were good, it is just an example of a chef trying something new and just destroying a really good thing only to replace it with something that really.. isnt so great.. there was a little bit of rice with about maybe 3/4 or a chicken breast, and the rest of the to-go box was salad? It was more like a mediocre salad with a side of teryaki? I hate to be so on them but if nobody else is gonna say it I will.. I should have gone back for my money because I only ate a few bites and threw the rest away, but it was late and I had to be up super early. maybe warn people that the teriyaki is a little bit different from what they may be used to (I’m from Seattle and there is a teriyaki joint on every corner so I feel like I know my teryaki?). I was very disapointed. If you are looking for good teryaki, GO ELSEWHERE.

Toshi’s Teriyaki – Menu with Prices – 305 SE Everett Mall Way # 16, Everett

Go to Mill Creek instead! I’m a die hard Toshi’s fan and frequent the Mill Creek location regularly. This Everett location has nothing in common with it except the name. Even the menu is different. I am very disappointed with the sub par teriyaki I just had from this Everett location. The chicken was obviously in a warmer instead of cooked fresh; it wasn’t tender or juicy. I was shocked at how fast my food was ready, and I realized this is why. The rice was gummy and seemed like it had been sitting awhile too. The sauce tastes like it’s from a bottle, very syrupy. This is the kind of teriyaki that you get from any average strip mall or food court. But if you want really friggin good teriyaki made by a pro (Toshi himself), skip this one and go to Mill Creek. I was hoping the other locations were the same menu and the same recipes, even if Toshi isn’t the one cooking. But now that I know the name is just the name. Two stars for friendly service and a clean dining area.

Hungry Belly – Menu with Prices – 2818 N Fitzhugh Ave, Dallas

This is really hard to write. Really, it’s 2 stars for the food and one extra star for the good service they provided. I really appreciate that the staff tried to remedy the issue, but I can’t give more than 3 stars due to the food. I ordered the chicken teriyaki bowl, and my boyfriend ordered the miso ramen. The bowl is served with a side of steamed vegetables, which I felt should be something more..exciting like grilled asparagus or cauliflower. Essentially I’m paying $10 for the meat. Upon my first bite of the chicken, something just felt off…it was crunchy? It didn’t quite have the texture of chicken but it was chicken. I had my boyfriend try it too to make sure I wasn’t the only one, and he agreed it tasted like freezer burn chicken. I notified the waiter, and they offered to make me a new dish, which was very nice of them. I ended up trying their shrimp tempura roll which was good. My boyfriend’s ramen was..subpar. As soon as it was delivered all we could smell was bamboo. The smell of bamboo was overpowering everything in that ramen. We’re Asian so we are used to eating bamboo, but that was too much–almost like it came from sitting in a can for too long? The broth was okay, meat was okay, egg was a regular hard-boiled egg. If you order the ramen, just don’t expect super authentic Japanese ramen, but we also felt it wasn’t worth the price. Hungry Belly has a pretty large menu: ramen, bentos, rice bowls, Korean specialty dishes, sushi. I think that’s where the problem lies because there’s so much to choose from (and so much the restaurant needs to excel in). Maybe the thing to get is sushi? But I do not recommend the teriyaki chicken or their ramen. I do want to thank Hungry Belly for having good customer service by offering to make me another dish!
