Worst Gyu-Kaku service I’ve ever been to. I’ve been to Gyu-Kaku in Japan, Hawaii, and Orlando. The 2-star rating is for the service and the price- not the food. The food was excellent. It didn’t stray away from Japan’s yakiniku. Obviously, Japan’s is the original and therefore will always be better. However, the food was still delicious here. We made reservations for my birthday here for a party of 11. We ordered the “Shogun” (it says it’s good for 6 people), so we ordered two sets of those to cover for the amount of people we had in our party. We ended up having two servers for the night. Our original server kept forgetting to come back to give the rest of our party what he came back to serve. First, it was the water- he came with eight glasses. He said he would come back for the other three, but we ended up asking another person. He did it again with our hot teas that we ordered and with the miso soup. The food was also slow to come out from the back kitchen, which we don’t understand because it’s not like they had to cook it for us. There were LONG pauses in between each appetizer and meat servings… my family and I were getting hungrier and hungrier by the minute. Each serving size was not really enough for 11 of us. We each received one or two pieces for each meat type of the Shogun. After our third meat, the servers randomly switched, which we thought was SO inconsistent and inconvenient. Our new server apologized and said the other guy clocked out. Like. What the heck? Who does that? Who says that to customers? He came out with our fourth type of meat. Then he said, “That’s all you ordered right?” I was like…… uhhh wtf no! We ordered TWO Shoguns! We were still missing more meats… and vegetables! He said, “Oh. Let me double check.” Ugh. Lack of communication between the employees there. It was really horrible. The waiting, the service, OH and they told us that they were out of filet minon so they substituted it with prime New York steak. I don’t know how prices work when it comes to meat, but I really hope they’re comparable cause that’s messed up on how much we were spending to get the lack of quality service for everything we were already experiencing. Also, tip: Ask the customers if they want their vegetables before the meat. My family didn’t like how the vegetables were served last after all the meat; it didn’t make any sense to us. Also, Four/Five of us downloaded the Gyu-Kaku app to redeem a free meat order. It’s too bad our server only said we could redeem one person’s rewards. I mean. There was twelve of us. Why not?! It was my birthday too anyway. Just beware to everyone else trying to do the same! Stingy service. Gyu-Kaku in Bellevue, your employees need to take a trip to Japan and learn what customer service truly means. I’ve lived in Japan, so I feel that the service here (at a Japanese restaurant originating FROM JAPAN), is a disgrace to the country. Don’t know if I’ll be coming back after that. It’s too bad there’s only one Gyu-Kaku in Washington state.

Maki of Japan – Menu with Prices – 6419 W Newberry Rd, Gainesville

I really don’t expect gourmet food from a Maki of Japan in a mall. The portions are really great. I always find I have enough leftovers to make a separate meal. I recommend ordering the chicken since the chef tops your order with A LOT more meat than if you ordered other meats such as shrimp. Half and half is also an option if you can’t choose between noodles or rice. There is room for improvement from what I’ve seen. The side vegetables are usually pretty cold since they sit on the (cold) stove for a while before being served. I vaguely remember that at other Maki of Japan’s that the vegetables would at least be half heartedly fried up. The ordering system here can get confusing since they stick toothpicks (no names) to identify the different types of meat/sides for each order. This food court can get pretty busy at times so it’s easy to lose track of which order is yours if you turn away even for a second. (I’m pretty sure the lady behind me in line mistakingly took my order..). The service is really average. When I came here a few months ago the chef was actually being kind of invasive and asking me lots of strange questions. He kept making comments to the point where I felt kind of uncomfortable at his advances and had to step away from the counter to hide at a table. He hasn’t been there the more recent times I’ve been to Maki of Japan, however. All in all, an average Maki of Japan with very average (and sometimes creepy) service. There are better options in this food court if you’re not craving teriyaki.

Tibet Bowl & Sushi – Menu with Prices – 50 Main St, Salt Lake City

Sad to say this place is pretty terrible, i love nepalese food especially momo, unfortunately every component of the momo was bad, the dumpling shell was too thick and bread-y tasting, the meat filling had an offputting old tinge taste to it, and the sauce although it smelled excellent didnt have much flavor to it at all and was kinda creamy like tikka masala sauce or something, i didnt try the sushi but that should have been the red flag from the get go, sushi and nepalese food do not go together just like sushi and chinese food dont go together how do people not understand this!!!

Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ – Menu with Prices – 7893 Monet Ave, Rancho Cucamonga

I have been to this Gyu-Kaku over a dozen times and to be fair, every other time I’ve been here, it has been excellent. Last night (Saturday Sep. 21) was another story…7:30 reservations, checked in at 7:25, seated at 7:43. To start with, chairs were dirty and the previous dirty grill was still in place. Then, in spite of it being early, after ordering, server came back and said they were all out of the Prime Kalbi Rib which is by far, their best meat on the menu. Later, we were told that they were backed up in the kitchen and it would take a while for our vegetables and edamame. Also had to remind them about the two miso soups that never came. Then they finally brought out our meats and I started grilling. A few minutes later, the server came out and told us they were out of cooked RICE and that it would be ten minutes before any new rice was ready (as I said, I had already started grilling some meat). When the rice came out, they gave us two bowls and I had to remind them that we had ordered 4 (there were 4 of us eating). What was worse though, the rice was HARD inside (i.e. undercooked) and totally inedible. I let them know and they brought out another bowl and it was still undercooked. What kind of Asian themed restaurant doesn’t know to ALWAYS have rice on hand and ready. Rice can be made long in advance and kept warm. To cap it all off, near the end of the meal, the server then dropped a dime on my wife’s plate. They didn’t charge us for the rice and gave us a smores order for the kids as an apology but wow, just an all around regrettable experience. Having said all that, we’ve had too many good meals there to never go back but our expectations will certainly be tempered.

Mariscos El Rey 2 Menu with Prices 10293 E Iliff Ave, Aurora

Good food very expensive though and the servers do whatever they want at the time of charging you specially the tip look at your receipt because regardless of the size of the party they charge 18% period. Be very carefull when paying in two or more transactions specially when using cash and credit cards. This us the second time this happens to me so I don’t believe in coincidences. Firs time I paid $58 and it was only a party of two they had already charge me the 18% so I gave her 40 in cash and the rest on a card. When she brought me the receipt to sign she added another 18% for the remaining 18.00 when I ask her why she replied the lady at the front made a mistake but that it was only 4 dollars more just to sign. She ended up giving me the difference in cash. This past week we went to celebrate a friend’s birthday same thing happened we got a ticket of 321.00 which already included 18% tip.which was around $50.00 we gave her 165.00 in cash and the remaining 156.00on a card. This was a different server from last time. She brought me a ticket where she only applied 160 instead of the 165 plus she added 18% again which made it 28.80 more on tip. 78.80 tip on a 321.00 ticket it’s insane. Of course I asked to fix it when she came back she still had only 160 instead of 156.00. I ended up getting the 4.00 back in cash. I don’t believe she made a mistake I believe that because they see you order a beer they may think you don’t pay attention. Please be very carefull when getting your ticket and I expect the owners to put some sort of control on servers because at least I am not going back there, tip is earned but owners let them add it regardless of the size of the party they know they are getting a tip regardless of the service they provide you.

Kappo Sui Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 20070 Santa Ana Ave, Costa Mesa

This place has the best authentic Japanese food I’ve had in years. Years. It’s the kind of place a homesick Japanese person could visit and break down crying. For this reason it’s worth getting a reservation, and worth the extra pennies. The menu had many dishes I haven’t seen since I lived in Japan. I ordered komatsuna with atsuage, a spinach-like leafy vegetable with pre-fried tofu splashed with bonito broth seasoning and topped with finely cut nori. Just seeing it nestled in an assymetrical leaf-shaped dish made me happy. My spouse ordered eggplant simmered with duck. Both dishes were prepared carefully, and tasted just like what you’d get in Japan. Bonito, soy sauce, sugar, but not overpowering the flavors of the meats and vegetables. These are the kinds of dishes Japanese businesspeople might order with alcohol for an informal meeting. Our party also ordered a shrimp pancake served with tartar sauce, vegetable tempura, udon, and sushi. The tempura had a slightly heavier batter than what you might find at a tempura-ya in Japan, but lighter than most other Japanese restaurants in the US. They included authentic ingredients such as a green shiso leaf and fresh lotus root, old friends I don’t get to see often. The sushi was amazing. The fish, crab, etc. burst with flavor and melted like butter in my mouth. And the rice was perfectly cooked. It held together as either nigiri or maki, and even odd individual grains left in the soy sauce were delicious. (This is pretty rare.) This is a special place I would take a friend who really knows Japanese food, or who wants to learn about what people in Japan eat. If I make it back next time I’m in town, I’d love to order mozuku (seaweed), grilled mackerel, and other items on the menu.

O-Dai-Ba Japanese Grill – Menu with Prices – 7325 Day Creek Blvd, Rancho Cucamonga

The food was okay not great but not bad but my reason for the 2 stars is it not only took them 10 min to seat us (plenty of open tables) but after 30 min of eating and my glass of water being empty prior to my server bringing my food and yet still I was not offered a refill I even tried several times to get the servers attention but was unable to get any service once I received my food. The other person in my party had ordered a coke and also received no refill on his coke. I ended up going to the registers to pay because who knows how long it would have taken to get the bill. While at the register I saw the owner and made my concerns known to him he seemed unfazed but the entire event and less than concerned. In fact he didnâ??t even apologize for the experience he just smiled and said okay. Needless to say I wonâ??t be revisiting this restaurant.

Aburi Sushi & Ramen – Menu with Prices – 735 E Green St, Pasadena

Now I can finally write a review for this place after coming here three times. I had both good AND bad experience so let me just start out by saying your experience may depend on the day of your visit. My very first time at Aburi was with my best friend. She and I had a great dinner doing AYCE even though no server has informed us about how only 5 orders will be served first or whatever they call this policy. Second time, I went with my Mom. Since I have gone to other Aburi location in Long Beach and also here with my bestie, I thought I knew what was going on. My server named ‘Lily’ was very unprofessional. After filling out my order sheet, I handed to her and she told me about the 5 orders thing and not knowing what it was, I told her last time I was here I wasnt told that but its fine, it is what it is. Then she tried to argue with me in a very annoying tone so I was like whatever. Then she goes off telling me that NONE of the COLLARS are available (Salmon & Yellowtail). So I said its fine. It was just her attitude, tone of her voice and behavior that made me so irritated. She didnt look serious and looked very nonchalant. Before getting my orders, another server comes and explains to me about Lily’s actions and re-explained to me about the 5 order policy and so I clearly told her I wasnt too fond of way she delivered the message; unprofessional. Later, I got some of my orders then I see both Salmon and Yellowtail collars coming my way. I told the new server that ‘Lily’ told me you guys dont have any collars available and now I see both on my table. She said ‘she meant to say we have limited supply’ Um, excuse me? I know how to write and speak English. She CLEARLY told me she did NOT have it. She didnt mention anything about limited supply or whatever though I was aware because it says it on the order sheet. I was just so sick of everything from then on. So my second experience was crappy as ever so I decided to come again with my Boyfriend to finalize my thoughts before giving them a review. My third time was again so-so. My server was just fine. But it was the FOOD that was below par. My Boyfriend and I ordered 2 orders of sashimi (Salmon and Seared Tuna) and did not receive it after we received all of our orders for the first round. We also did not get any collars. I asked the server to check and a bit later, one of the collars came as salmon collar was not available. Our 2 sashimi came out with the Yellowtail Sashimi added during second round and so ALL of our sashimi came out at the same time. I belive it was Yellowtail Sashimi. Boyfriend took a piece to eat and later I looked at the plate to grab, I SEE A HAIR. A SHORT CURLY HAIR (please see attached picture with this review). I was disgusted. With the disappointing experience I had before, everything was unpleasant and started double checking all the foods left on the table for any hair or things that SHOULDNT be there. I called the server to let him know. He literally said, ‘oh sh!t’ and asked if I wanted a new one. My Boyfriend wanted it so I said yes. Other than that, no apology of any kind was made to my table. Again, this is very unprofessional. I dont want to stereotype but almost ALL asian owned businesses lack sooooooo much professionalism handling situations like this. Gross. I didnt want free food. All I wanted was an apology or a ‘statement’ from the manager but absolutely nothing! So that sums up all my dining experiences (3) here at Aburi. Extremely disappointed in lacking professionalism displayed by servers or even the management. Food hygiene is definitely a BIG issue. No parking available as street parking (1 hr) is the only option I believe. I was hoping to enjoy here at Aburi but since the first visit, it has been DOWNHILL. Such a disappointment. Done.

Sushi Express – Menu with Prices – 142 Park City Center J0301, Lancaster

My hubby and I have come to Shogun about four times but this time we wanted to try the Hibachi table. We invited friends and we all had the best time. Amy was our server again and we will always ask for her in the future. In fact we have made arrangements to attend again but with more family members. I had the Salmon and hubby had the Shrimp. The girls had steak, scallops and salmon. The Hibachi Chef was great and very funny. You start off with soup and salad and I want the recipe for the dressing which is very yummy. The Hibachi Chef then comes over and started making the fried rice and then the vegetables. He then serves that up and then turns his attention on the protein for each of us. First we are served two pieces of shrimp as our appetizer. My salmon was perfect. Of course we had leftovers which will be eaten tonight. You can’t go wrong with anything you order.

Subway Restaurants – Menu with Prices – Little Creek Shoppes, 3858 E Little Creek Rd Space 21, Norfolk

Hated it went in with a good mood left without it. I went to order my sandwich and asked for my spinage to be added before it gets toasted [i like the chesse melted on it] to which the lady with the noes ring rolled her eyes i was confused but didnt say anything about it. She walked off and finished another customers sandwhich and when she came and set mine up i mentioned “the spinage will need to be covered cause it will burn” after seeing she placed it on its own side rather then under the cheese she snaps at me saying she knows and they dont ussualy do it this way then picked up all the meat and cheese and flopped them on the spinage side. I have PTSD from a incident in my teen years and at that point her snapping at me made my heart rate increase and i cassualy asked my boyfriend for the car keys to “get my phone” wich was just so i could go outside for a sec to calm my heart rate. Went back in and luckily he was done with her and handed me my cup i went over and was annoyed again seeing no tea of any kind i dont drink soda and reluctantly got viatamin water. Went to sit and eat unhappily i came in excited and happy to eat before going to the garden nearby but left in a less then happy mood i get it was easter and she probbaly didnt want to be there but the way she acts was NOT acceptable and made me not only have a episode but wrened my day.

Bawarchi Biryanis – Kansas City – Menu with Prices – 7284 W 121st St, Overland Park

Fair Warning: the service SUCKS. We came here with a party of 12 because we heard that the biriyani is delicious. When we arrived, we were sat down, but it took them nearly 25 minutes to send over a server to take our order. 2 kids ordered a sprite and a mango lassi which we could see was sitting in a fridge in the back of the restaurant, but it took them 20 minutes just to serve the drinks. With a restaurant half-empty, one wouldn’t expect such slow service. The food unfortunately came out one at a time, with 10-15 minute waits in-between. A couple who sat right next to us who came in around 30 minutes after we did were immediately seated, served, and given their food all before we had half the table served. By the time the last order of food came for us, nearly everyone was done eating. When one of the servers asked us how we were doing, we reminded him there were 4 people who were not given their food yet and he was oblivious to the fact that we were not completely served yet. In terms of the food, it was quite delicious. We ordered dosas, biriyani, and paneer curry. The food was hot when served and were quite delicious, but one biriyani we ordered, we asked for medium spice. It was so spicy some had problems trying to finish it and we ended up ordering more lassi to help. The only thing preventing me from giving this place a 1-star is the food. I would recommend doing take-out rather than dining in so you don’t have to deal with the terrible service. If we ever come back, we certainly won’t be dining in.

Inca Azteca – Menu with Prices – 95 S Market St Suite #170, San Jose

Our server: 5/5 Food : 3/5 Seating arrangements: 1/5 Happy hour drinks: 2/5 ( on full bar is false) ( great if you wanna get drunk on happy hour. But not much else) Background: they have a party going in a majority of the restaurant. They still tell us we are okay to be seated. Then the band played ( so loud we had to lean over the table to talk to eachother) They lead us to the back where we are sitting on 2 couches with a block for a table that is knee high. Everytime you go to take a bite of food you have to open your legs to lean in over your plate. The drinks were not mixed properly. The long island taste like straight whiskey ( off brand, cost more if you want decent liquor ). The servers were being overworked because they had to deal with a party which took over everything but a small section in the back and keep the restaurant running with regular walk-in customers. The rice was very dry and for $13 for enchiladas it was 2 enchiladas with a scoop of rice and a tiny bowl of beans. Maybe it would be better on a regular day when their staff are not being overworked. When you dont staff yourself properly and take more than you can handle you lose the quality of the service you are providing.

La Culichi Fresa – Menu with Prices – 1517 N Baker Ave, Ontario

Honestly this is the worst restaurant experience i have ever experienced. The first thing i asked for was a margarita(which was on the menu). The server came back & said they didnt have alcohol. Then when i asked for pozole (which is on the menu) she said no once again. Then i asked if they had wings (which is on the menu), i was once told no. We were never given silverware until asked for. Then last but not least, i asked for the fettuccine Alfredo pasta. Waited an hour for it, then the server comes out & tells me they dont have Alfredo. Then when i go to pay for my food, waited 15 min for my check, my gaucamole wasnt in my togo bag that i asked for. Which i was charged for. Then had to wait an extra 10 min for them to make the guacamole for me. I will not be coming back.
