Let me just start off by saying that the (phone) customer service was terrible and the Sicilian pizza and garlic knots were the worse I’ve ever had! My friends and I are visiting New York for the very first time. We caught a later flight into town and once we checked into out Airbnb we were all starving. It was a Wednesday night after 10pm so not a lot of places were open. Since we were all eager to trying our 1st New York pizza, we decided to give this place a try. When we called, a lady answered the phone and she was very rude, was rushing us off the phone, was very short with us and acted like she didn’t want to be bothered. You would thing this should have been our queue, right? When the order arrived, we noticed that both the garlic knots were burnt. The pizza was flavorless, did NOT have enough cheese, the sauce tasted like chef boyardee sauce and overall the pizza tasted like the oven – you could even taste the burnt bottom crust. DESPICABLE!! We couldn’t even eat the garlic knots they were so burnt! My friend was so disappointed that she was almost in tears. She said she couldn’t eat the pizza – it was THAT bad! NEVERRRRRR AGAIN!!!! I would rather enjoy a Jack’s frozen pizza!! Unfortunately we were so tired and pissed that we didn’t even snap a pic!!!

Sal’s NY Pizza – Menu with Prices – 3304 Taylor Rd, Chesapeake

I don’t normally write reviews unless something is very good or very bad. What started out as a bad experience was absolutely turned good, though. We ordered a Bianca pizza (I’m allergic to tomatoes) and cheesy garlic knots to be delivered and when they arrived the pizza was I’ve cold and much to my dismay the cheesy garlic knots actually come in a container where they are smothered in cheese and marinara sauce.. which I can’t eat. I checked the menu online again and it didn’t say anything about the cheesy garlic knots being served this way. I called the store to inform about the ice cold pizza and the knots, and was told that the cheesy garlic knots come that way, which frustrated me because it doesn’t say that online. The woman that answered placed me on hold and when she came back advised me that they were sending out a fresh pizza and would send out garlic knots as well. The new pizza and garlic knots arrived fairly quickly and everything was very very good and hot. I would say that better advertising about what is in items would help for those of us that have allergies and cannot eat certain foods. Nevertheless… Thank you for turning a negative into a positive!!

The Pizza Stop – Menu with Prices – 3349 Monroe Ave, Rochester

I came here on a Thursday night around 7:30, and every chair was upside down on the tables, and I thought they were closed. A customer came out of the door as I was walking by, or I would have assumed they were closed. The sign said they were open until 9, so this was odd. They didn’t have many slices left, but they did have a cheese slice which was what I wanted, so I tried it out. I also got 2 garlic knots. The guy that helped me was very nice, and the pizza was really hot. Like it was hard for me to carry it; it was that hot! And it was given to me in a paper bag to go, which I also thought was strange. If I’m honest, I didn’t like this pizza at all. It was too hot, it was kinda soggy, and it didn’t really taste like anything. I’m not a fan of tomato sauce, but you couldn’t really tell that any was on it. And the crust was so hard that I didn’t eat it. If I had only gotten a slice of pizza, I’d probably give this place 2 stars. The garlic knots actually were good, and weren’t overwhelmingly hot. They were dough-y and soft. They weren’t super garlic-y though, if that’s what you’re looking for. Overall, I really didn’t like it here. There’s much better pizza around. If this was really “New York” style pizza, then I guess I don’t like it. Plain cheese pizza is what I like though, and this pizza was just meh for me. And it was $8. You can almost get a whole pizza for that somewhere else, and I would like it a lot better.

Monte Pizza – Menu with Prices – 360 E 188th St, The Bronx

I was at this pizza place last night because my fiancé had recommended it. We ordered a cheese slice with extra cheese and half an order of garlic knots. Every other pizza place I’ve ever gone to the garlic knots come with tomato paste sauce. When we asked for it, the guy in the back rudely said it would cost more since we only ordered half a batch of garlic knots. Why would I pay more for something that is supposed to complement each other? If I would have known, I wouldn’t have tipped and used that money to pay for the sauce, or give me the portion that comes with half a batch. All in all, the pizza was great, the service.. not so much.

Bistro Pizza – Menu with Prices – 55 S Gibson Rd #112, Henderson

Just moved out to Henderson, and was looking for a good pizza spot. This place seemed to have a lot of good reviews, so we decided to give it a try. I called and ordered a medium pepperoni pizza, and was told a 45 minute wait. Okay, I get it, you guys are busy. I called back about twenty minutes later because I saw the yelp check-in offer for free garlic knots when you check-in. The guy on the phone was like “uhhhhhhhh are you using it with any other coupons?” And I said “No.” to which he replied, “yeah you can use it.” So yay free garlic knots…NOT. I get there and go to the register, one guy is staring at me while cutting pizzas, no acknowledgement, and the other guy definitely saw me as well. Not until an older guy came to the register to order did the second guy finally say, “be right with you both.” He finally came over, I told him my name, and he brought the pizza box over to ring it out. I told him that I had a check-in deal from yelp for garlic knots and he said “oh you have to order a large pizza with one topping to get it.” I wish the guy I spoke with on the phone told me this! I looked at the receipt after I left, and it said “free garlic knots” on it. Wow. Whatever, so I got home and tried it. It was the most meh pizza I’ve ever had. It was like cardboard. And I live five minutes from this place so it’s not like it got cold by the time I got home. I normally like the crust on pizza but this one was just so bad. Definitely will not be coming back. *sigh* I miss the pizza back in LA. Oh well, I guess I’ll be continuing my search for some good pizza in NV.

Top It Off Pizza – Menu with Prices – 1700 TX-323 Loop Suite 108, Tyler

Went in to grab a pizza at lunch time a few weeks back. Both ladies there were extremely nice to start off with. Now I am from NY and was in NYC in April. So I already am picky. I have tried all the NY places in town and they lack one thing in their dough. I know pizza well and won’t mention what was missing but this place had their dough right. Crust was crispy and airy on the outside. Good sauce and cheese. If I had to be super picky a little odd taste on part of the crust and I feel maybe some run off from other pizza or garlic knots cooked in the same oven. Maybe just brush the oven off more. Very good stuff.

Sicilian Delight – Menu with Prices – 271 Greece Ridge Center Dr Unit 442, Rochester

Palace Pizza – Menu with Prices – 114 S Kentucky Ave, Lakeland

Saw Palace Pizza on a segment on the news. I bookmarked it and knew one day we would try it when in Lakeland. On this Saturday afternoon we decided to try it out. It’s located in downtown Lakeland. There is no private parking lot for this establishment. We parked on the street and simply walked up the block. When we walked in and up to the counter we saw a large assortment of pizza pies. Many different types of delicious looking pizzas, garlic knots, bruschetta and cannolis. My eyes didn’t know where to look first. We were immediately greeted by a very nice young man who was extremely patient while I took it all in! I wanted to try one of everything. My husband and I decided to sample: *Square pizza – Absolutely delicious, would order again. Best pizza so far since moving to this coast. *Chicken bacon ranch – Was very dry and definitely didn’t taste any ranch. Would not order again. *Garlic Knots – Definitely not the garlic knots I’ve eaten in NY Pizzerias during my lifetime. They were more like a greasy roll with lots of butter. Would not order again. Also, didn’t have that garlic taste I was looking for. *Bruschetta – Was delicious and would order again. When you order and pay you are given a number to be placed on your table. When your order is ready, it is brought to your table. I would definitely go back for their square pizza and because they offer many different pizzas of which I would love to try. In addition to all the different pizzas, they offer an extensive menu with salads, sandwiches, Stromboli’s, flatbreads, pastas and many Italian specialty dishes to choose from. Being Italian from New York with the best pizza, I’m a tough critic when it comes to good pizza. I found everyone at this restaurant to be friendly, welcoming and courteous. The restaurant also has a very lovely outdoor eating area.

Times Square Pizza & Bagels – Menu with Prices – 29760 Rancho California Rd #110, Temecula

I’m going to start off with the good news because there’s not a whole lot that is positive here. The absolute only reason this isn’t 1 star is because their pizza was pretty good. For starters, we ordered a special they had on their website for a pizza, salad, garlic knots, and wings for $36. When we picked up the order, they forgot the garlic knots and we had to wait for the staff to make more of them. The salad they gave us was completely wrong, garlic knots had no garlic on them, and for some reason they put the BBQ sauce for the wings on the side and only gave us 1 cup for all of them. Oh, and we found something hard on the pizza and have no idea what it was. Now, if you’ve read this far, you’re probably thinking “man, how could that get any worse?” but this last thing really takes the cake. We also ordered 3 cookies for $3, these guys no sh*t put CHEWY CHIPS AHOY Cookies in a container and gave it to us. I could not make this up if I wanted to. Granted, they gave us 6, but you can buy a whole pack for that price. They’ve messed up our order in the past, but never this bad. There’s a pretty good chance we’ll never order from here again.

Pizza Gusta – Menu with Prices – 2945 Bruckner Blvd, The Bronx

AMAZING VEGAN pizza, wow! I ordered a pizza with follow your heart cheese, yves pepperoni, and broccoli. I also ordered a side of garlic knots that can be made vegan per request. The owner is very knowledgeable about the vegan diet and said he can veganize any of his menu items. For cheese he has: follow your heart, violife, and daiya. For mock meats he has: beyond sausage, gardein chicken, tofurkey, and yves pepperoni. The pizza and garlic knots were a 10/10 and I will definitely be back soon!

The Spiffy Fox Pizza and Pub – Menu with Prices – 1455 Monroe St, Mobile

After two visits I’m convinced this is my new go-to pizza joint. And there are plenty of great one to choose from! Living in WEMO, I always ask myself “is this worth a special trip?” and, in this case, the answer is unequivocally yes!!! So, five stars since I’d drive out of my way. Ambiance is causal and has a pretty cool vibe – hard to explain – exposed brick, old pub feel. Definitely comfortable. Stained glass windows are a nice touch. The red sauce is so fresh tasting and plenty of basil – totally what I’m looking for in sauce. So, your opinion on the sauce might be based on how much you do/don’t like that particular herb. The sauce is served with the cheese bread. Which isn’t your typical cheese bread – the cheese is stuffed in a crescent type knot. They use a wood fired oven, so the crust is just right. I’ve tried several pies, but my favorite is the margherita (again, I love basil). Haven’t tried the spicy pizza yet, but it’s next on my list. My husband loved the carnivore one – not really my thing, but I’m sure it’s popular. For dessert, the apple and mascarpone dessert pizza is worth saving room for, IMO. It’s not overly sweet, but the apples are thinly sliced and it sprinkled with cinnamon – sooooo good! Haven’t tried the Fox in a hole, but saw a lot of people getting it and it looked yummy. Final note, they have gaelic knots, not to be confused with garlic knots!! They’re good, as long as you’re not expecting garlic!! Oh yeah, no kids menu!! My daughter is ten and both times she was finished after two (out of four) slices from the 8 inch. Not a huge deal to me, but I know that might matter to some folks.
