I came here for my mom’s birthday and we ordered a tooooon of food. Most of the goodies we ordered were fairly decent–a tad too oily for my liking, but I’m rather sensitive. Things that stood out: Fish soup: My mom looooooved this. I thought it was decent, but I’m going to assume it was fairly yum if my mom raved about it so much. Truffle abalone fried rice: This was delicious fried rice, though the truffles were extremely subtle. Not sure I’d order this again, as the truffles are a bit too subtle, especially after it came out as the last dish and we’ve eaten all these other flavorful foods. The abalone was delicious though and the rice was done well. Filet beef: This was a huge miss. Not sure why, but while the beef was incredibly soft, it was also incredibly chewy. No one could bite in the beef; I ended up spitting it out :X Sauteed pea sprouts: This was really yummy, and easily one of my favorite dishes–but I found a caterpillar in it. Being the asian I am and used to dirty ol’ Chinese joints, I stuck it to the side and kept on eating, but looking back, it was pretty gross. Extra protein, anyone? Birthday cake: They gave my mom a giant rice cake peach (you take it home, cut it up and cook stuff with it) and it also came with little lotus seed paste buns. Super sweet of them and my relatives enjoyed the buns very much–it wasn’t too overly sweet or sugar laden. Complimentary sweet tapioca dessert: Another miss for me, but hey, it’s free! I felt like it tasted more like sugar water than anything else. Scallop with glass noodles: This was pretty good, but a very hefty bite per scallop. You might want to share to avoid getting too stuffed off the noodles. Cold chicken: This was super tasty! Done perfectly so that the chicken was moist and seasoned to perfection. One of my favorite dishes of the night! Overall, I enjoyed this place quite a bit, caterpillar and all. However, I really can’t justify giving this place more than 3 stars if I’m eating protein I didn’t deliberately order as it makes me question the washing and prepping of ingredients. I want to try their dimsum, but then I’ve also noticed that the dim sum reviews are very lukewarm. Hm, should I give this place another go?

Chocolate Necessities & Gelato Menu with Prices 1408 Commercial St, Bellingham

To be honest, I’m not too crazy about the quality of their chocolate (or gelato), but I come here when I need a small local gift. Also, they are open 7 days a week and are open late too. So, it’s convenient. They have quite a few different kinds of truffles, and many of them come in dark and milk chocolate. It IS expensive, but for about $11, you can get a box of 4 truffles of your choice, which I think is acceptable. Their current price list (as of February 2018): Individual truffles -$2.35 per truffle Truffles in a box -1truffle: $3.45 – 2 truffles: $5.95 – 4 truffles: $10.65 – 8 truffles: $21.75 – 16 truffles: $39.95 – 32 truffles: $76.75 – 64 truffles: $143.00 You can choose a color of your box and of your ribbon. ****************************** If you found something useful in my review, please hit “useful” so that I can improve my reviews. The Blue Fish Las Colinas – Menu with Prices – 925 W John Carpenter Fwy #100, Irving

This place has amazing sushi!!!!! The food was delicious!!! We started with the Kobe beef dumplings, the meat inside was ground and seasoned really well. We also ordered stir fry veggies. I ordered a dragon roll, a caterpillar roll and a Hawaiian roll. Each roll was full of fresh, wonderful flavor!! The Hawaiian roll had pineapple in it giving it a littler sweetness. It was my absolute favorite!! My husband, who is not a sushi fan, got the Philadelphia roll and he really enjoyed it. He’s not one to usually finish his roll but he ate the whole thing! He also ordered the Teriyaki chicken and it was so juice!! The chicken usually comes with rice, my husband always asks to sub noodles for rice and most places give us a hard time and an up-charge. We were pleasantly surprised that this was not even an issue here. The waitress was so nice about it, it was the easiest substitution we have ever had at a Japanese restaurant!! And they didn’t charge us extra, and that was really nice of them!! The staff here are all very friendly and knowledgeable. My husband was curious about the difference in certain names, like maki, sashimi, and sushi, the waitress was great at explaining it to him. She was very sweet and nice. The ambiance is casual but nice. It definitely works for a great date night or celebration. The food is great, the prices are very fair and the staff is wonderful!!

Green Papaya – Menu with Prices – 7840 West Ln D4, Stockton

Good food, competitive pricing, good location. Friendly service. My husband enjoyed the flavor of the Pad Thai (Beef & Chicken combo). I had Drunken Noodles (Chicken). It was an interesting dish, I enjoyed the chow fun style noodles, though I don’t care for Mint leaves in food or overly salty foods. My husband also agrees that there was too much tomato-ey taste to the Drunken Noodles. Customers, please, close door behind you when entering or exiting, to keep flies out! ð???ð??º I’ve also had their tasty Beef Laap over steamed rice from their Food Truck, before they opened brick & mortar location. When available, they also have great tasting Pork Belly.

Yumi Asian (on APB) – Menu with Prices – 425 Avalon Park S Blvd #200, Orlando

Four stars for great service, really good food made with fresh ingredients with layers of flavor. This new Asian place opened in my community! It is located right next to Chase Bank. There is parking available right in front. The restaurant is decorated with giant Asian murals that are beautiful. There is table service, I believe there are at least 8 tables and a sushi bar with stools. Greeted nicely, patiently answered all my questions, specifically about the difference between lo mein and udon noodles, she explained it’sthe noodles, lo mein noodles are more sticky & udon are bigger. I also asked about a dish I saw on the Yelp page, she said it was Mandarin chicken, I will be back for that. My takeout order: Sesame chicken with plain fried rice Chicken Udon Noodles Beef Lo Mein We were sceptical because we are accustomed to darker noodles, but let me tell you, they are terrific. The Udon Noodles are bigger, rounder then lo mein, they must be making them fresh, because they are light and They noodles had mushrooms, bean sprouts, chicken and eggs! The sauce was layered, flavorful, tasty. The Beef Lo Mein noodles, although, paler than what we are accustomed to, were fresh, had a savory/sweet flavors and the beef was tender and delicious. The sesame chicken, yummy, lightly breaded, light sprinkle of sesame seeds, tasty and fried rice, light and flavorful. I will definitely try this place again, this time eating in the restaurant.

The Similans Thai Eatery – Menu with Prices – 13005 Lee Jackson Memorial Hwy, Fairfax

I had my first taste of Thai food 15 years ago: Pad See Ew with Beef at a Thai chain (which will remain unnamed), and my taste buds did somersaults at the first bite. But after 15 years of trying Thai here and trying it there, it began to taste about the same. Then came Similans. The best Thai I’ve had in years! On a recent snowy day, we ordered delivery – Pad See Ew with beef (can you tell this is my standard?), Hawaiian Fried Rice, Crispy Rolls, and Party Wings. Within an hour, the food was at our door and everything tasted fresh, hot, and absolutely delicious. The Pad See Ew is some of the best I’ve had in years. Every ingredient – rice noodles, Chinese broccoli, egg, and beef strips – is cooked perfectly on its own and together, the dish comes together beautifully. As many times as I’ve had this dish, it’d been a long time since I’d enjoyed like that. A must! The Hawaiian Fried Rice was a really nice surprise. The curry was light, not at all overpowering, which was important for a rice dish that already has a lot going on, packed with chicken, shrimp, pineapples, cashews, and veggies. A wonderful, comfort dish. The crispy rolls were as good as any you’d find elsewhere, but the wings were pretty special – crispy skin, tender meat, slathered in a sticky sweet and spicy sauce that begs you to lick your fingers. I may have just found my new Thai obsession.

Five Spices House – Menu with Prices – 546 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge

Super solid authentic Chinese food in the heart of Central Square! Service was ok but could be improved and is the main reason I took off one star. The first time I went here I got take out of Sichuan braised beef noodle soup. It tasted delicious! Meat was tender, noodles had good texture, and there was plenty of bok choy as well. The food was ready within 15 minutes of when I ordered. I came here again for dinner with my boyfriend. There was no wait, although the restaurant stayed busy during our time there. Most of our food came out pretty fast, but the waiters were sometimes a little confused about who ordered what. One dish took a little longer, and just as we were about to ask about it, a waiter told us it’s not done but will be out soon. Overall I didn’t mind the inconsistent service too much as we didn’t have to wait too long and it was easy to say that we did or didn’t order a dish, but service could definitely be improved for customers to have more peace of mind. The delicious food really makes up for the service! Water spinach with garlic was very flavorful; the garlic somehow added a subtle sweetness that really made the vegetable enjoyable. I’m not usually a huge fan of water spinach but I devoured the water spinach here. Minced pork with black bean sauce over noodles passed my noodle test. Noodles have good texture and sauce is just right — not too sweet, not too salty, and good ratio of sauce to noodle. Sauce came with plenty of pork and bean curd. I also really enjoyed the Sichuan diced chicken with chili peppers. It’s actually not very spicy so if you like spicy you probably need to ask them to make it more spicy. One thing to note: rice doesn’t come with any dishes and costs $2 a bowl. Most Chinese restaurants my boyfriend and I have been to have complimentary rice so this was unexpected for us. I personally don’t mind since I’m not a huge fan of rice but my boyfriend likes rice and thought the price is a bit steep. Other than that, prices and portion sizes for the dishes were pretty reasonable. I plan to come back to try some other dishes next time I’m craving authentic Chinese food!

NKG Café & Soulfood – Menu with Prices – 2626 Rio Linda Blvd, Sacramento

I love this spot!! The inside is SPOTLESS. Dining room and bathrooms both. Angel greeted us when we came in with our two kiddos at 6ish on a Friday! It was quiet which was nice. Angel put the TV on for us; she was super friendly. The owner, Leilani, also came out and said hello; super sweet and chill vibe. We ordered 2 x 3 Meats/2 Sides and a Chicken Strips (w/ fries) for the kiddos. Sides: Mac N Cheese, Potato Salad, Cornbread, and Red Beans & Rice. Everything was delicious; husband didn’t rave about the potato salad or red beans & rice. I really enjoyed the cornbread and butter (wiped all through my leftover bbq sauce) and the Mac N Cheese was sooooo good; perfect comfort food!!! All of the meat was delicious (ribs, chicken, hot link, and tri tip!) and the chicken tenders for our kiddos were super tender! Perfect!! As we were leaving we grabbed two pieces of sweet potato pie; the girls really wanted chocolate cake so Miss Leilani just threw in two. I love the energy in this place. It was a relaxing environment and we will definitely be back!! Thank you!

Mrs. Robinson – Menu with Prices – 574 College St, Toronto

When I heard this place had a new Peruvian food menu, I had to check it out. Over the past few years I really got in to Peruvian cuisine because of all of the traveling that has been taking place in my life. I recently visited South America (didn’t get around to Peru though – next time) and I have spent 6 months out of this year in Miami. This exposure has really given me a clear sense of what good Peruvian cuisine is all about and the new menu at Mrs. Robinson is no joke. I ordered the following items: CONCHA A LA PARMESANA (U10 Scallop) A little pricy but worth it. I’ve never had scallop like this. I will order 2 next time. JALEITA (Calamari) Best squid I’ve had in my life. CAUSA LIMEÑA Wasn’t a fan of this one but my friend really enjoyed it. EMPANADAS Amazing. Comes with some really good sauces. We doubled down on this order. CEVICHE NIKKEI (Raw Tuna Dish) The quality of this ceviche is the best I’ve ever had in my life. Better than Carmen in Medellin, Colombia. Those who understand what that means, understand that this something you don’t want to miss out on. BISTEC Y YUCA (Steak) Delicious steak. I ordered it with the white truffles but I feel that it would have been just fine without it. TRIGOTTO DE HONGOS A LA PARRILLA (Risotto) This Risotto is bang for your buck for sure. There was a lot going on but again, another favorite of mine. Hearty. Some good vegetarian options as well but I didn’t explore. We were doing everything family style so we ordered a bit of everything. The staff here was great. I do recommend making a reservation and trying out some of the drinks. I stuck with the Reverend Green cocktail which really complimented the food and almost acted like a digestive in some way. Highly recommend. Thank me later.

Noodlelicious – Menu with Prices – 3212 N Jupiter Rd #110, Garland

It appears to be an unassuming pho restaurant in the Saigon Asian shopping center. There is access from outside the mall as well as from inside. I like this restaurant because of the fresh noodles (made in house) and flavorful broth. I’ve been here a few times and tried a few things, and I can say that you need to stick to ordering the pho here. My daughter had the chicken pho and said it was super delicious-lots of chicken and noodles along with an excellent broth. My son ordered a pho dac biet and really enjoyed it-lots of meat and noodles. They come in 3 sizes. If you have a regular appetite, the small is really all you need. That’s what I order. The large is if you are super hungry-it’s a giant bowl. Pros: clear flavorful broth that is not too oily, fast service Cons: anything that’s not pho. Inconsistent in quality of dishes-a couple times the spring rolls had hard noodles in it. Also, not a fan of the preboiled bean sprouts. Tip: don’t come late because they do run out of fresh noodles. We came within an hour of closing one time, and they were out.

Siam Thai Bistro – Menu with Prices – 5763 Manatee Ave W, Bradenton

Very good from the limited items we have tried so far. As another reviewer noted I always rate and return to a Thai restaurant first and foremost on it’s pad thai. While it’s a deceptively simple dish it’s very hard to get right and it’s my favorite one. I love to cook and it’s the one dish that is always a hit or miss for me to make right even after taking a cooking class for it from a great restaurant. Siam’s pad thai is good. Subtle flavors, good properly hydrated noodles and the right amount of wetness. Even the next day as leftovers it wasn’t dry or chalky which is another sign it was well made. Drunken noodles also well done. Chicken satay yummy. Thai iced tea a tad to sweet but still good. Looking forward to trying the rest of my favorites on the menu as we will definitely return which is really the only rating that matters.

Misako Asian Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 4701 Shore Dr #113, Virginia Beach

First visit since Misako moved to Shore Dr. I had extremely high expectations based on the reviews, history from previous location & was really looking forward to this visit. I don’t think I chose my dishes wisely. We started with appetizers: * Gyoza – Thin wrapper possibly pre-made. Meat was proportioned. Flavor was acceptable for the quantity, cost, and it being an appetizer. * Calamari – HUGE pieces of squid tail and tentacles were falling out of thick tempura batter. Dish was mostly batter with huge hidden chunks of squid. Least favorite dish. Main entrees: * Szechuan Spicy Beef Ramen – broth was delicious, flavorful, and had the perfect spiciness. My favorite dish so far. Beef was tender. Noodles were rice noodles, not egg noodles. I prefer egg noodles. There were way too many noodles. If I could’ve ordered only the broth, I would have. * Chicken Teriyaki – no sauce. Bland piece of chicken breast, a scoop of rice, and bok choy. Glad I tried. Maybe I’ll try again another day.

La Union Restaurant Menu with Prices 5517 Wilson Blvd, Arlington

I stopped in for lunch on a whim and oh am I glad I did! I was seated quickly and had a bowl of middle of the road slightly tough chips and a small cup of very tasty but deceptively spicy salsa a go. After enjoying being presented with a pretty standard menu, i decided to gave the California burritos lunch special a go. Had a half a dozen choices of protein and decided to go with a chicken and a beef. And a house margarita on the rocks while i waited. The margarita came quickly and was hands down the best I’ve had in the area. Not sure what they use for the mix but it it has the right balance of sweet and sour with a bit of maybe orange? Nothing like I’ve had in dc. Very tasty. My food came in about 10 minutes with the traditional be careful, hot plate warning. It looked like pretty standard Mexican cantina faire. Two medium sized burritos with a comfortable helping of yellow rice and refried beans and a small cup of pico de Gallo. That’s where the standard ended…the chicken was juicy, succulent. Not wet but Indescribably moist and incredibly flavorful. Every bite had me wanting more. The beef was no slouch either just wasn’t as incredible as the chicken. The rice and beans were excellent too! I usually have a bite or two of the rice and beans at most mex restaurants but I ate every last bit. Beans were slightly garlicky and the rice subtly flavored. And delicious. The decor is nothing to write home about. A low key family owned feel, not a bit of trendy ness about it. I’ve seen the same look in a dozen other states. The wait staff was low key and friendly. But the food. Omg the food
