I’ve only had Korean BBQ maybe 10 times, & I’ve only eaten at GEN 3 times, so I don’t have a lot of experience. Despite the fact GEN is a chain (or maybe because of it) the food for all my visits have been consistently good. What has been consistently bad is the wait time right around the time most people eat dinner when they eat out: 5:00pm to 11:00pm. If you hit their peak time, 7:00pm, expect to wait an hour minimum, perhaps two hours if you’re that patient and they’re busy. Plan your trip to GEN around their schedule, not yours, unless you WANT to wait a long time in a smoke-filled restaurant. The food is varied and plentiful. You can have as much of whatever is on their extensive all-you-can-eat list. Some things aren’t all you can consume, alcohol for example, but their menus are clear. Their food has never disappointed me, & you can eat like a glutton. I know, gluttony is one of the 7 deadly sins, but GEN doesn’t seem to mind. Different cuts of beef, chicken, pork, seafood, vegetables, & fungi are offered. They have ventilation above each table, but the place still fills up with smoke and you will smell like everybody’s dinner when you leave. It’s worth it, though. It’s a good smell. The atmosphere is contemporary: low lighting, dark colors, dark lighting, music, black waiter/waitress uniforms, dark menus, etc. You get the idea, “dark.” Dark is “in” these days. The staff is pleasant, but could be better once you’re a few minutes into your meal. In fact, as the meal goes on, the waiters & waitresses become ever more unavailable. I suspect it’s driven by the tendency of people to slow down consumption as they are sated, and by their desire to get your rear out of that chair because they do have those incredibly long wait times. If you plan on lingering, plan on getting ever decreasing attention. The place isn’t cheap, but it is a good value. They’re able to do this, naturally, because their staffing costs are minimal: they hire few cooks, mostly preparers. You’re the cook.

Hickory Log Bar-B-Q – Menu with Prices – 5047 Welborn Ln, Kansas City

The location was decided on by an employee who is transferring to another department. Well, the BBQ restaurant is ran by a husband and wife team and was well informed that we would be coming during our lunch hour (12:00pm – 1:00pm). The first few of us arrived at 11:50am. It’s 12:10am and I notice that the wife is going to run the show on her own. There was another table of 6 and a table of 3 that she was serving as well. She took our order at 12:16pm. When she returned with our drinks she was mixed up; also with our food. The beans taste like pork n beans out of the can with their vinegar BBQ sauce. The burnt ends (with I was ready for) were so darn tough) I was so disappointed. My boss ordered burnt ends as well and hers looked more like what the should look like and moist. I couldn’t eat them…nor did I try. This place really don’t know what real BBQ taste like. I knew they would because it was a little hole in the wall, owned by a mom n pop and I smelled the smoke down the street. I’m tellin ya’, don’t let the smoke smell fool ya! I will never return nor try it…even if it was catered at the job. Sorry. Pros: What I did like about the order of service is, the food was delivered as it prepared not all at once. Oh! I forgot to mention that was a total of 24 in our party. Now, I’m waiting patiently on my burnt ends so I can rate how the food tastes. Horrible! Crap! Tough! I’m disappointed! Smoke BBQ Restaurant & Catering Menu with Prices 555 N Federal Hwy Unit 5, Boca Raton

Smoke BBQ Restaurant & Catering is simply terrific! One rainy night recently, I went there with Diane and her cousin, Gary. Everyone waits in line to place their order. The menus are available so that you can choose which offering sounds good to you while you are in line. Smoke only offers one beer, but it’s a good one. It’s called Shiner Bock. It’s a dark beer. I don’t usually like dark beers but this one is very good. Obviously, they should offer a choice of beers to go with their food. I ordered the pulled pork, Diane had the Brisket and Gary had the spare ribs (they were out of Baby Back Ribs). A few different BBQ sauces are available in the rear of the restaurant. The Carolina sauce is quite good as is the Original. The server brings your meal to the table that you select. We decided to eat outside at one of the covered tables. The meat arrives at your table with no sauce. You add your preferred sauce in the quantity and combination that you desire. I really enjoyed the Pulled Pork! It wasn’t fatty. It tasted wonderfully smoky and was very tender and beautiful! Just great! I had the Mac n Cheese and homemade potato chips for sides. The Mac n Cheese was fabulously creamy and cheesy. The chips were great as well, perfectly crisp and just salty enough. Smoke is extremely clean. The staff is very professional and they do their jobs efficiently and quickly. I am anxious to return to Smoke BBQ and try some of the other menu items. I had tastes of Diane’s brisket and Gary’s ribs. They were both outstanding. Good Luck to Smoke BBQ Restaurant & Catering!!!

Rollstar Sushi – Menu with Prices – 946 Yonge St, Toronto

Day two of being open for business. I popped in to see what RollStar is all about. The space is tiny, especially compared to the previous business that occupied this space. There are only three seats at the window so it’s pretty much geared for takeout only. There is an open cooler with beverages and boxed foods, convenient for grab and go. Their menu lists quite a few sushi rolls, a few appetizers, a short list of sashimi, and an even shorter list of bento boxes and udon noodles. They also offer sushi platters, with up to 75 pieces. This might be good for some office meetings. They open for lunch during the week, 11:30am – 2:00pm, and then for dinner at 4:00pm until 9:00pm. They’re closed on Saturdays and open on Sundays, 5:00pm – 9:00pm. Hmmm… I tried the crab roll from the Grab ‘n’ Go cooler for $5.00 (no tax). It came with eight pieces that were uneven in size. It tasted okay, just about average, and the wasabi had very little bite to it. There are several Japanese and Asian restaurants in this area and even grocery stores that sell sushi. With RollStar selling mostly sushi rolls, they will probably need to be really good or really cheap to compete with the other places. With this being only their second day, I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and update my review after they’ve had some time to settle in.

The Atlas Bar Menu with Prices 108 S 11th St, Boise

Well.. we came here in between dinner and the next stop with high hopes for a great cocktail. The smell is very odd. At first I wasn’t sure if it was who I was sitting next to, the bar mats, or the entire space. It’s the space. After waiting a good ten minutes for anyone to acknowledge us, the bartender was extremely short and unhelpful. I appreciate the fact there are not tons of printed menus laying around, however due to the bar being long and slim, not everyone can read the ONE drink board. When asking about a recommendation, I was promptly told to go read the board. Awkward AF standing at someone’s table to get close enough to even read in a dark crowded bar. Anywho. After all that, decided to go with an Old Fashioned. So much bitters, it was completely unpalatable. It’s a rare day that I will leave an unfinished drink, and this was that day. Could not even choke it down. Based on the other reviews, I may try this spot again on the event this was a one off experience.

Delicioso By Mr & Mrs – Menu with Prices – 341 I St, Modesto

We came here after eating a expensive italian Dinner that was overrated an overpriced…. So after our Dinner we were left craving dessert, so we saw this place that was along our way home an we saw I believe the Father outside grilling up some meats an smelled so good . Once we pulled up an hopped out me an the wife gave each other that look like ahhhh dam we shoulda just ate here but i guess you live & you learn. Granted it isnt in the best location of Modesto, that would be the only downside to great place. We ordered a Crepe with Carmel an came with a Scoop of ice cream & fresh strawberries & banana pieces . An was Delicious. My wife ordered theyre cookies & cream like shake thing with granola an was also amazing…. While waiting i kept smelling the asada tacos an was like man o man i gota try one of them bad boys, so I ordered 1 an was $1.25 an you add the toppings you like ( cilantro, onions, sauces, lime , radishes ) . An man that Taco was on Point . This place is Damn good an we definitely plan on coming back for Tacos an Dessert.

The Crazy Cucumber – Menu with Prices – 4414 SW College Rd #1910, Ocala

My daughter and I went for dinner last night. We arrived at 5 and were one of 3 tables with customers. Our server took our order for side salads and an appetizer then proceeded to try to take our menus. We explained we weren’t done ordering. She waited until our side salads arrived then started to take the menus. I stopped her to order something. She pointed to my daughters chair and asked ‘does she want something too?’. We both placed our orders. About 20 minutes later our food came. My daughter’s flat bread was so hard i could hit the crust with the back of my knife and you could hear it really loud. Our server waited another 10 minutes to come back to see how the meal was. My daughter explained that her flatbread was over cooked and asked if they could redo it. I finished my meal and we both sat an additional 20 minutes till my daughter’s 2nd flatbread arrived. It was just as hard, dark brown and crunchy as the first one. She was hungry and we were running late so she just ate it. The crust was so overcooked that the bottom of the crust separated from the top and stayed on the board when she picked it up. In total we were at the restaurant for an hour and a half. We won’t be returning there.

Fusion Lounge – Menu with Prices – 6915 Dixie Rd #4, Mississauga

My boyfriend & I have been regulars at fusion for quite sometime now, the staff is amazing. The service is even better. Ive been to the other sisha lounge in brampton just to see the difference and fusion was by far a better option, heck we left after 30 minutes & went to fusion instead. I was there about 2 weeks ago now & when we went to get up and pay I literally fainted and fell to the ground. The staff was awesome, the owner sat with me ans explained that it was ok and its happened before because of course I was embrassed. As soon as I woke up theyre was a pop in my face and the owner did not let us leave until he felt like I would be okay and I just wanted to give a huge thank you to the owner and the staff at fusion lounge for theyre outstanding service everytime. This is always my go to spot to hang out with friends. 10/10 recommended

Maker’s Craft Brewery – Menu with Prices – 735 E 23rd St, Norfolk

My excitement to try out the newest brewery in Norfolk on a Saturday evening was quickly smoked out. Building looks great from the outside and has parking available and food truck at the curb. Instantly disappointed in the overwhelming smell of smoke as we walked through the doors. The cigar room in the brewery does not contain the smoke one bit. It was so strong that we almost walked right back out the door. We decided to give it a try since the weather was nice we were able to sit outside due to the smoke inside. It looks like they are prepping the outside patio area for something nice to come so that is good. The inside has plenty of tables for seating, a pool table, and a popcorn machine. We ordered 2 flights so we could sample their 7 beers. Unfortunately we stayed outside and left quickly after our flight. The Whit beer was my personally favorite but not enough to bring me back due to the smoke. Disappointing until they hopefully decide to figure out a ventilation system.

Dynamite Bbq – Menu with Prices – 5400 14th St, Plano

I’m super late with this review but this is by far some of the best bbq I’ve had in DFW. As with most reviewers, it takes a little bit to track him down. Most Yelpers will post on here where he’s at for the day or just give him a call. First, you’re greeting by the smoke which is my first rule when it comes to bbq. If I can’t smell it, I ain’t eating it. Second, are all the nice people waiting in line. Folks were like kids at Christmas; they couldn’t wait to dig in. Then there’s the Pitmaster and you can tell right away about his passion. Not just for his craft but the people he’s serving. Don takes his time with each person and you’re having a genuine conversation. It’s just so much more than just a transaction. I ended getting, what I’m going to call the, Pitmaster’s Plate. I had $50 and told Don that give me whatever I could get for it. I got some of everything: sausage, lean brisket, spareribs, and my two favorites fatty brisket and the chicken (he only serves dark meat). The meat was not overly seasoned with just a hit of spice. I’m guessing salt, pepper, granulated garlic, granulated onion, cayenne and maybe a little mustard powder. It had a strong smokey flavor so I’m guessing either mesquite or oak. I didn’t get any sauce so I was bummed about that and some of the lean brisket was a little dry but it’s definitely worth all the money. I got so much food and it was a pleasure just being there. I ended up making some pimento grilled just with the brisket and it was . There are no sides, no bread, just pit style bbq. If you can, definitely make your way there.

Backstreet Jazz & Blues Club – Menu with Prices – 614 W Port Plaza Dr, St. Louis

Wow, a year ago we were in here for karaoke… and the place has gone even more downhill. The same guy running the karaoke, and after ONE person did karaoke and another attempted they then spent the next hour saying “mic check” over top videos that were playing trying to figure out whatever issue they were having. The set-up in here is strange, the tables are gross, and don’t even get me started on the disgusting chairs. I did not even want to sit down. The only thing they had going for them was the smell of a little pizza oven. Last year when I was here it stunk from cigarette smoke, so at least the smell in the air was better this year. We finally bailed after one drink.
