I hadn’t had Galle’s in years and I don’t know why I stopped eating here. I never had a bad experience here or anything. So it behooves me why I had been here in a long time!!! This place is right around the corner from my house to, so it is really a big mystery that I think Scooby Doo and his team can solve!!! I had a craving for fried fish and okra all weekend long. I had to get some because I would died, literally. If I don’t satisfy my craving, anything I eat won’t satisfy me until I get what I have been craving!!! The food settled my craving and so much more. First off, the service was exception. Everyone from the owner to the cooks to the employee cutting the grass greeted me so warmly. They may have been flirting a bit, but that’s a different story!!! Lol!!! I saw that they had filleted Bream. I can’t eat fish with a bone, it always has to be filleted. I ordered double okra and the meal also came with 3 hush puppies. I always request that my fish is fried extra crispy. The owner made sure my order was correct before he put it in. This was the first fish market I ate in that they actually pulled the fish from the display cooler and cook it for you for one of the dinners. The cook came out and assured me he cooked the fish to my specifications, that was another first!!! The food was AMAZING!!! The cook even put mustard and hot sauce inside my box without me asking for it!!! That’s the only way I eat my fried fish. The okra was very tasty as well, seasoned to perfection. I always love finding quality fish markets because lately a lot of the fish markets I frequent have been going down hill with their service and quality of food. I hope this meal wasn’t a fluke and they are this good all the time!!! I’m ready for my next round of fried fish!!!

Simply Najiyyah’s Fish Boat – Menu with Prices – 5101 W 23rd St, Little Rock

I am a big fan of Southern style home cooking and you cannot possibly find a better place to satisfy your craving for fried fish, juicy burgers and breaded Okra. This is a clean place with friendly staff that are professionally dressed and very polite and courteous. The sauces just take every thing served here to the next level. I would highly recommend this place if you are visiting Little Rock and craving some soul food.

Da Catch Fish & Chicken – Menu with Prices – 4410 Charles St #6256, Rockford

Da Catch seems to be a franchise, I’ve seen them in other cities, but I couldn’t find any info on that. There are a few locations in Rockford, IL, which is where I bumped into them. Fried fish is the specialty of the house. They also feature wings, tenders, and Philly cheese steaks, as well as bulk orders on the fish and shrimp, and a few other fried sides choices. I grabbed a catfish “meal” which comes with 3-4 fillets, french fries, and I got a side of fried okra for an additional charge. I’m gonna guess the fish is dusted with lemon pepper, seems to be a thing around these parts. The breading was seasoned corn meal and not overbearing. Fries were good, so was the okra. At under $10, it’s a good value. The restaurants are “simple trappings,” seems like they are more geared to drive thru/pick up service than dine in, but there are tables. There are multiple locations in Rockford.

Intracoastal Seafood Market – Menu with Prices – 5039 Oleander Dr, Wilmington

I had high hopes for this fish market. I am a personal chef and one of the families I cook for eats fish every week and this market is on the way to their house. But if the 4 times I’ve been in, they always have Inconsistent filets that either look like they have been roughly hacked off the fish or still contain bones. Maybe this doesn’t seem like a big deal, but when a fish isn’t filleted properly, it cooks inconsistently which is not ideal when cooking for someone else. I have also gotten peeled, deveined shrimp twice from them, and in their display was some beautiful pink, fresh shrimp as well as some old, grey ones. I asked for the fresher ones and was told that they had to sell me the older ones because they needed them gone. I was desperate, So I took them. But they were certainly inferior.

Fish House II – Menu with Prices – 3467 Napier Ave, Macon

Okay, I had given up on eating in the restaurant but I will also have to give up buying fish from the fish market section in the back also. I ordered a lot of fish and had it cut to fry. I wasted my money. I get fish from other fish markets and it’s fresh, even if I let it sit in the fridge overnight and decide to wait until the next day to cook it. This fish, when I got it home, after a few hours began to stink. I went to work and came home the next day and my house was funky to the Nth degree. Anyway, fried it up and just couldn’t eat it. All that fish and money gone to waste. I had to trash everything. I wish I would have wrapped it up and taken it back but I’m sure I wouldn’t have gotten a refund at all. I simply tried to salvage it. Apparently, he blasts it with cold water to mask the smell long enough for when you get home. I’m still airing out my house. He sold me a lot of spoiled fish. I’m completely done with this place. Never, never, never again…

Love Fish Market – Menu with Prices – 1401 John Barrow Rd, Little Rock

I had my mouth fixed on some fish and fried okra today. So I said let me go to Loves. Been a good little minute since I’ve been. Last time I went. It was awesome. This time, the grease for the okra should have been changed or fried to hard. I don’t know but that was horrible. So I said well let me check out the fish. Let’s keep in mind I got the special that should have come with fries , slaw and white bread. Don’t care about the bread can’t eat it. But I couldn’t get past the smell when I open it the box. And no slaw either. Yeah 2nd and last time. I wasted my whole lunch and 8$ just to throw all it the trash.

Angie’s Fish and Wings – Menu with Prices – 5015 S Sheridan Rd, Tulsa

Had lunch here with a coworker today. This location used to be Sam’s Southern Eatery and while the name has changed, the menu looks very familiar. The building is old and could use some TLC as it is rather run down, but I came for the food not the ambience. I ordered the 3 Fish, 3 Shrimp platter which came with two sides. I opted for half fried, half grilled with fried okra and red beans & rice. My friend ordered a 10 piece BBQ wings with fries and okra. Being lunchtime it was rather busy and our orders came out in about 20 minutes. The portions are very generous as my fish and shrimp came on one plate, while the okra was in a basket of it’s own and the beans and rice in a small bowl. The grilled fish and shrimp was delicious and had a savory seasoning. It was so good I finished that before moving on to the fried portions. The fried….two fillets and 2 huge shrimp. Mmm good. My friends wings also looked great. He was hesitant to come here, but left satisfied. Give this place a try. While the decor is lacking, the food makes up for it……and if that’s not enough, you won’t leave hungry.

New York Chicken And Grill – Menu with Prices – 3203 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Richmond

If zero was an option I’d put it. My 10yr old got a fried fish meal while eating it he said what’s this. and on every piece of fish inside was a thick piece of paper with words. whatever they wrap the fish or set it on they fried everything with that paper on it. I know damn well somebody saw that paper on the fish when dipping it in batter.not one but all. Disgusting and I wish I had time that day to take a picture to post here and take it back. When you dont take pride in your business you’re going to keep having the same lack of business so changing the name of this establishment isnt fixing the problem

Crazy Catfish Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 805 W Centerville Rd, Garland

Whew…. let me start by saying that any time I don’t see Cajun people frying the fish when I walk in, I get nervous. My nerves were right. Let’s start with the good stuff though. The technique of cooking the food was perfect! They know how to fry catfish, okra, oysters, and hushpuppies, which is what I ordered. The guy taking the order was nice, spoke pretty good English, so it didn’t take long for me to ask my questions and put my order in. The restaurant was okay on the cleanliness. There were lots of crumbs by the tables and some weren’t cleaned off. It wasn’t busy, as most people were getting their food to-go. The food took about 7-8 minute to come out and the food presentation was nice. But let’s get to the taste of the food. I want to preface this by saying that my family is from “Cajun country” Louisiana, so I consider myself a catfish connoisseur. This fish was SO bland, I went back up to the counter to ask if they had some seasoning. He proceeded to tell me that they only have salt and pepper. Huh? No onion powder, garlic powder? Or Tony’s? Or Lawry’s? It tastes like they fried the fish in bland cornmeal, not even the Louisiana fish fry corn meal, which would have helped out the flavor. The cooks need to go and be great and cook something they are good at because seasoning fish/seafood is not one of them. I would not recommend this place at the top of the fried catfish food chain. That’s just my two-piece. Yes I finished my $11 meal though. Can’t waste food.

Islamorada Fish Company – Menu with Prices – 5001 Bass Pro Dr, Garland

A very disappointing meal despite a wonderful outing with my family in the Bass Pro Shop. (Granddaughters like to watch big fish swim by.) We got there early with a party of 6 hungry people. I was led astray by the hostess that I could use some of my huge accumulation of Bass Pro dollars to pay for the meal. We were seated with a great view of the salt water fish tank and the bluff over looking the lake. That is worth a bonus star! The restaurant is full of trophy fish, lodge style decor and high ceilings with wonderful lighting! The tables and seats are comfortable and allow you to sit and gorge for hours! I initially opted for the fish and chips special (all one could eat) but was advised once the order was taken that wasn’t available but the all one could eat shrimp special was on. I decided that would work. We also ordered the fried alligator appetizer. He brought out drinks and plenty of lemons for my iced tea. The alligator was heavenly light, tasty (I’m not fond of reptiles usually, but this was really good!), fried golden tan with a very tasty spicy dipping sauce. It was the best item on the menu (next to the sugar dusted hot bread loaves). Even my granddaughter who hated alligator was sneaking extra bites. The shrimp came out and they had added a piece of fish since that is what I originally wanted. The shrimp were rather shrimpy in size, filleted and fried flat with a Panko like crumb batter. They might have been frozen as they didn’t taste fresh. There were pieces and not all were whole. Not overly impressive taste of the shrimp but way better than the fish. I was very happy it was not the right day for the fish. The fish was heavily beer battered, rubbery and greasy. I was starved so ate way too many shrimp AND the fish. The fries that came with the shrimp were heavily seasoned and not anything special, but edible with enough ketchup. The others were okay with their meals, but not thrilled. Absolutely not worthy to have been served alongside a large Bass Pro Shop with such a fantastic view! Service was good and drinks were topped off quickly. Expensive for the taste and quality.

The Fried Turkey Sandwich Shop – Menu with Prices – 132 Person St, Fayetteville

We decided to give them a try for lunch and it was outstanding. I had the buffalo turkey wrap with fried okra and kids the grilled cheese with seasoned fries. All enjoyed the food. The establishment is a bit small for the crowd there. The place was busy, but not too packed for lunch. Very friendly staff. VERY. large sandwich selection. Everything here is fresh well prepared. The fried okra is a must. I am not a huge fan of turkey or even sandwiches, but this place is the exception — all of their sandwiches are great and I think they have the best fried okra of anywhere.

Kyle’s Seafood Market – Menu with Prices – 3874 N Ponce De Leon Blvd, St. Augustine

This is the best seafood market not just in St. Augustine but in the entire JAX metro. I have been to most of Kyleâ??s competition and in lieu of posting bad reviews of them, I will tell you what Kyleâ??s does so very right. When you walk in, there is NO smell. Unlike other fish markets, no fishy smell at Kyleâ??s. You will see the whole fish with clear eyes laying there, fresh out of the ocean for you to choose. Please note that other fish markets cut the heads off the fish so that you the buyer do not see milky glazed over eyes and realize that the fish is old. The guys at Kyleâ??s KNOW how to properly cut fish so that you get fab fillets vs one competitor who has high school kids slicing up tuna. For holidays, come early or phone in your order as there will be a line out the door with a 10 lb lobster if you so desire. You want a special cut of fish, no problem for the guys at Kyleâ??s.

Uncle Larry’s Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 736 E M L King Blvd, Chattanooga

Uncle Larry’s is the best place for seriously down home fish and delicious sides. Larry and the crew take pride in showing every customer the best experience. The interior is fairly modest, and you are always greeted and invited to take a seat. All the food is great, but here are my go-to items: Catfish Plate: Two GIGANTIC fillets of catfish are perfectly fried and crispy. You get two sides and a choice of bread or hush puppies. For another 50 cents, I always add the Cajun spice. Hush Puppies: I’ve never had a piece of bread here, because I am in love with the hush puppies! They are small, crispy, and tasty! Fried Okra: The fried okra is a crunchy addition to anything you have at Uncle Larry’s. They are always golden brown, perfect for dipping in a ton of hot sauce or eating on their own. Sandwiches: If you are looking for a smaller meal (but still want to be full to the brim!), try a sandwich. They are delicious, and you won’t need anything else to make a whole meal. Sometimes, I will add a little ketchup to a load of hot sauce, and I will throw that on everything! This is definitely the place for everyone, and everyone is welcome. Try Uncle Larry’s, and you will keep coming back, again and again!
