Fullerton public library has really impressed me because of the amount of areas they have available for studying. I haven’t had any issues with finding outlets to charge my laptop and noise hasn’t really been a problem in any of my visits. There were maybe a few kids screaming here and there, but nothing headphones couldn’t drown out. I know some of the reviews mentioned homeless people, but honestly I didn’t even realize homeless were sleeping or staying in the library during the day because I usually mind my own business when I come here. In my opinion I don’t see it as a big deal because it’s not they come crowd me at a table when I’m studying. The few I’ve noticed since reading the reviews have always been in individual seating chairs in areas that are out of the way. I don’t think homeless people deserve to be stripped away their right to come to a public library to get some safe and sound sleep before having to find a place to sleep after the library closes. In that sense I think some of the other reviewers should learn to show more compassion about that and have some decency to not take photos of them (I mean, really?). They are already homeless and it’s not like the any seemed to be bothering anyone in the photos that another Yelp user posted. I’m currently a student at CSUF and the library on campus is extremely disruptive and students don’t have any regard towards being quiet. So I choose to make the trip from campus to this library because of how respectful other visitors are in terms of keeping the noise level down around others. It’s difficult to find a library that stays true to the tradition of keeping libraries quiet and peaceful, so I appreciate that I can trust that I’ll be able to come here to get a good study session done. The WiFi is also fast and it’s convenient that they don’t require a library card to login. Basically this place is my go-to for when I need to buckle down and get some studying done without worrying about people eating or talking in the next seat over!!

Friends Of The Tempe Public Library – Menu with Prices – 3500 S Rural Rd, Tempe

It’s a lovely physical facility with a very large selection of books. I’m enjoying physical books, plus ebooks (wow, download from amazon.com and use Kindle to read), audiobooks, etc. available through their e-sharing library. The checkout/return process is thoroughly modern, as is the way you can put a hold request on a book and be notified via email or by text that the book is available and waiting for you to pick up. Bathroom (men’s) is generally clean, given the fact that a lot of street people come here. Security does frequent walk-throughs around the premises, so the street sharks don’t get an opportunity to be disruptive or use the Library as a crash pad (i.e., sleep place) for the day. It’s generally been very quiet when I’ve visited. There are many interesting activities scheduled, including coloring for grownups. I like the artwork displayed on the walls. I’ve not yet tried the coffee bar, but it always smells alluring and the prices are decent. The Library is easily accessible by Valley Metro route 72 or a Tempe shuttle bus if you take public transit. I’m withholding two stars for the slower-than-molasses WiFi. I thought Mesa Public Library was the worst in the area, with download/upload speeds around 1Mbps [speedtest.net]. At Tempe Public Library, I just got a download speed that struggled to top out at 3 Mbps and upload speed of 0.5 Mbps [speedtest.net]. Simple web pages on news sites take 3-4 minutes to load completely or they time out, embedded videos are mostly unplayable, and you can forget using Spotify or TIDAL. Spotify reports it’s offline (due to abnormally low bandwidth), and the same goes for TIDAL. The lack of serviceable WiFi is a big deal to me, since I have to use it for non-frivolous reasons that require decent bandwidth. No, it’s not my computer. Up your broadband game, TPL! For decent WiFi coverage in a publicly-accessible library in Phoenix, you’ll have to stick with Phoenix Public Library locations (10 Mbps up/down or sometimes, much better) or ASU libraries (guests capped at 10 Mbps up/down but rock solid).

Shortwave Coffee – Menu with Prices – 915 Alley A, Columbia

Recently got new management and it’s still my favorite coffee shop in downtown Columbia, but now open for more hours! I find many of the coffees shops in the area to be loud, overcrowded, and with tables that are too small for me to study or do anything except have a single coffee with a friend–Shortwave is the exception. (Fretboard is another exception, it’s just a farther walk from campus.) Shortwave coffee is in a great location, is large and cavernous, has cozy areas (perfect for reading) and well-lit areas (perfect for studying), and has a comfortable quiet hum of conversation or music (perfect for coffee with a friend, reading, or studying!). I’m no coffee connoisseur, but I think it’s great, and so is the tea! The staff is AMAZING; so approachable, helpful, and chill. The manager’s just as great–he’s frequently present and interacts with the customers. I often forget to ask for alternative milks and they’ve been so understanding and it just shows how their quality of customer service! I highly recommend checking this place out–you won’t regret it!

The Mystery League – Menu with Prices – 1917 N Elston Ave, Chicago

My friends and I have participated in Creatures on the Loose at Chicago Athletic Association and Signal vs Noise puzzle hunt at Northwestern University, and both events were fantastic! Sandor Weisz and his team did a great job managing these events, which is especially impressive when you consider how different these two events were: for Creatures on the Loose, all the puzzles were solved at one table, whereas for Signal vs Noise, the puzzles were spread out across Northwestern’s campus. The Mystery League can also customize a puzzle hunt to your purpose or venue; for instance, Signal vs Noise had a periodic table-based puzzle for the chemistry buildings, a book-themed puzzle for the library, etc. I highly recommend The Mystery League as a creative, challenging, and interactive way to spend time with family, friends, or coworkers.

Smoky Hill Library Cafe Menu with Prices 5430 S Biscay Cir, Aurora

When I was young I was always very involved with different reading programs, both at school and local libraries. My love of reading has carried on through my life.I’m also trying to instill good reading habits in both my children. The way we go through books, CD’s and DVD’s a good library is a must ! The Smoky Hill Library (branch of Arapahoe Library district) happens to be my favorite library in the area. It’s very well laid out, cozy, comfy and has plenty of places to sit down and read in peace and quiet. There was until recently a coffee shop inside. I don’t know if there is plans to add another one or not. Another huge draw for me is their online availability of e-resources. Both ebooks and audiobooks. They have a wonderful selection and with so many new ereaders that are compatible with library books there is no reason not use these ! Don’t forget the easiest function of reserving and renewing your books on their easy to use website ! If you haven’t been there yet… CHECK IT OUT !

MavRec Café – Menu with Prices – 6001 Dodge St, Omaha

I enjoy coming here to study. Most of my friends now this is my second home on Saturdays. I wish people would be more respectful of the quiet study on the 3rd floor. Especially when there are 2 other floors with work space dedicated to those who want to talk to one other, work on group assignments or however else people choose to study. I appreciate UNO Criss Library’s effort in creating a space to accommodate multiple study and learning styles, but I wish there was a way to enforce the quiet space on the third floor.

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Roseville – Galleria Area – Menu with Prices – 1398 E Roseville Pkwy, Roseville

My husband and I came here on a little “stay-cation” for some rest and relaxation.. We just had a baby 5 months prior and my mother in law got us the room so she could babysit and we could get a full nights rest and a night with just the 2 of us We pretty much came here to watch tv and sleep lol.. When my mother in law called for the reservation, she specifically asked for the 3rd floor (top floor) so that it would be as quiet as possible and we could rest for the first time in who knows how long! They also told her that there was an indoor pool and hot tub.. We were so excited!! When we checked in, all was well.. We got a room on the 3rd floor and were happy! Until we turned on the tv that is.. It didn’t work! Kept coming on and then blacking out for 5 minutes.. Like I said before, we came to watch tv and sleep so this wouldn’t work lol.. My husband politely called down and they quickly changed rooms for us.. But it was on the 2nd floor ? We went ahead and just took the room, who knows, it may not be that bad.. But IT WAS! The room above us was 2 twelve year old girls, alone! Their parents were in the adjoining rooms.. The girls were literally jumping off the bed on to the floor and the noise was UNBEARABLE! I walked down to the front desk immediately apologizing to the receptionist GIO, and said that we weren’t trying to complain, just here to relax and if there was anyway we could move back to the 3rd floor.. He looked at me and RUDELY snarled “NO!” and walked away! He didn’t ask why? Or if everything was ok, just rolled his eyes at me and shouted “NO!”.. Very rude! We waited a couple hours hoping the noises would calm down.. We went out to dinner and tried to check out the “pool and hot tub” they said that they had, that DIDN’T even exist.. Only to find the noise was louder when we got back.. It was about 9:00 pm at this point and my husband called down and politely talked to GIO again explaining how bad the noise was and if they could please do something about it.. GIO’S answer? “We will look into it”.. 10 minutes later, the elephants were stomping again!! My husband walked up the stairway to see what was making soooo much noise, and the (2) twelve year old girls were doing cartwheels and flips in the hallway!!!!! Didn’t seem to me like GIO “looked into the problem”.. We almost asked for our $$ back and went home.. We wanted to relax, but if we couldn’t we would much rather hear the sweet noises of our own children, rather than someone else’s!! Finally at about 10:30 pm the noises stopped.. We got to sleep for a few hours without stomping!! Needless to say GIO is not a people person, nor should he be working in the industry.. I’ve worked in the industry for 15 years plus and would NEVER have treated one of my guests like GIO treated us! Next time we decide to have a “stay-cation” or have family in town, we will definitely be skipping over THE HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS! P.S. The one good thing I could say about the night, is that Tahoe Joe’s steak house was AMAZING!! Great food, great service!!

Gatos and Beans Menu with Prices 4348 3rd Ct S, Birmingham

The concept is wonderful; I can’t hate on anyone or business helping homeless kitties! A lot of cats will get rescued for this and I think a lot of people will just learn to like cats – All the cats here they’ve selected are extremely well-socialized or friendly! However the concept was not what I expected a cat cafe to be. If you are visiting on a Saturday you need an appointment – definitely understand that- this is Bham’s only cat cafe! It was somewhat busy on a Sunday – there was a good stream of people in and out but it wasn’t crazy. I was able to walk in just fine and I didn’t use up my whole hour because seating was limited. I wish this was more of a sit, hang out with your coffee and pet kitties at the same time kind of cafe. I understand they need to limit weekend visitors but maybe on the weekday I wish there could be some tables where you can do some work with the cats. I thought the coffee/entrance fee was a little high – I definitely respect them needing to take care of the cats which is why it is what it is but I worry it won’t be sustainable over the long term because paying $11 to go to the cat cafe isn’t something one might do regularly (or maybe it would, who knows…) If I were running a cat cafe I probably would just design it a bit differently and have a lot more seating to accommodate people (the waiting room takes up most of the facility…) The coffee itself is kinda just like homemade watery coffee but again can’t really criticize that since any revenue should really go toward the kitties. I would recommend taking visitors here and checking it out at least once!

Holiday Inn & Suites Oklahoma City North – Menu with Prices – 6200 N Robinson Ave, Oklahoma City

This place is a disaster. The design of the hotel is an old layout with all rooms facing into a giant lobby. Our room was on the 3rd (top) floor but EVERY SINGLE NOISE from the hotel bar/ restaurant down below was magnified somehow to where it sounded like it was literally right outside our door. I noticed this first at 11:30pm where I could understand a conversation completely between two guys-I thought they were in the room next to me but when I opened our door I found it was happening at the bar 3 floors below. Then at 6:30 am we received an un-requested automatic telephone wake up call (yay!). From that point on I noticed I could hear everything going on at the restaurant below- people scooping ice, quiet conversations welcoming guests to breakfast, dishes being loaded into buckets etc. It was ridiculous. There was lobby music playing too which you could clearly hear while trying to sleep. Only thing that helped was putting a pillow over my head lol. Oh, and the AC in the room-when that baby started up it sounded like a gasoline powered leaf blower-freaking awesome! Normally I wake up before 6 but due to other circumstances we had stayed up late-all this noise was definitely unwelcome. Anyway- this was a last minute Priceline purchase for an unplanned trip to OKC and we should have stayed elsewhere. Positives- bed was comfortable. Shower water pressure was good. Outlets on both sides of bed. Front desk service was nice. Location close enough to where we needed to go. Other than that I would definitely avoid.

Criss Library – Menu with Prices – 6401 University Dr N, Omaha

my favorite study spot. it can be so busy during school year and people can get too loud sometimes. me and my brother come here to read books most of the time. although we stay upstairs (the quiet area), the noise from people downstairs can bother you sometimes, would very recommend to bring headphones here.

Subway Restaurants – Menu with Prices – Mountainview Hospital & MedCtr, 3150 N Tenaya Way Suite 180, Las Vegas

This Subway is NOT open to the public. Hospital visitors only. I found out the hard way by driving out here and was told by ER security for hospital guests only.

Morgan Library – Menu with Prices – 1201 Center Ave Mall, Fort Collins

Love the main library, study there all of the time. Needless to say, the main floor bathrooms need more constant cleanings. However, the study Cube is absolutely disgusting. There were mice several months ago, which I told the front desk at Morgan Library about. Today, I am sitting in the top level of the cube because they closed Morgan Library at 5 pm today, and there are cigarette butts, food scraps, and toenail clippings on the floor. The table legs are damaged, and one of the bathroom lights is flickering intently like a silent alarm is going off so students cannot use the facility. The place has NOT been cleaned for awhile-just (don’t) look under the furniture and you can tell. I looked up reviews and they actually had bed bugs reported in August of 2018. I would not study or sit in here until the university makes some changes. Until then, unfortunately will not be using.

Primary Children’s Hospital Cafeteria – Mountainside – Menu with Prices – 81 Mario Capecchi Dr, Salt Lake City

Best lunch place on campus. Their Reuben is amazing. It also is one of the very few places to get gelato on campus. Head straight to this cafe if you are on the U of U campus and are totally bored with food from the Union. Totally worth the walk up the hill.
