After searching endlessly for a good dumpling place to replace my now-closed goto one, I finally decided to try Full House Dumpling. The wait can be a bit long, as it is usually packed for the weekends. The dumplings are well worth the wait however. They’re served in a traditional fashion and comes fresh and steaming hot. I recommend the pork dumplings and the pork with crab. Every dumpling is made just right, stuffed with juicy meat and a bit of broth inside. The thin onion pancakes are also well made, being fried just the right amount. The beef rolls are a bit lackluster with an overpowering beef taste, but I can see how some may enjoy it. Their seafood warm pot compliments the other dishes well, allowing you to reset your taste buds. It is a huge pot however, so I recommend you only ordering it if you have a party of 4 or more. They do offer to-go containers if you don’t finish though. Overall, this place is definitely worth a try.

New Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 136-21 Roosevelt Ave, Flushing

Welcome to the neighborhood, New Kitchen! There are more than enough dumpling stalls in Flushing but they are a welcome addition. It gives the reigning favorite a run for it’s title. The menu here is simple and there are choices for everyone. There is pork, chicken, seafood and vegetarian. Each of the meat choices can be made with cabbage or chives. Each order comes with 12 dumplings so totally shareable if you choose to be nice. Or smart and then you can eat even more. We ordered the pork and chive dumplings along with the chili oil wontons. The chili oil wontons comes 10 to an order. First, be patient and wait a minute before you take a big bite. Dumplings are cooked to order and they are juicy little suckers. It’s not XLB broth but there are definitely juices in the dumplings. They will squirt and burn if not careful. The pork and chives dumplings are a nice balance of meat to chives. The flavors of each ingredient complement each other and nothing is over powering. The wrappers are homemade but they aren’t that thick which I prefer. They hold in all the juices and flavor like a precious cargo. There are side dishes available and some noodles and soups too. I am excited to try those on my next visits. The owner is super sweet and puts so much love in each dumpling. He runs a very clean stall and there are some seating available. Take a seat and watch the magic happen. You can order frozen ones to take home but I think you might have to call ahead. I would definitely visit before everyone decides to come and the wait becomes too long.

Mr Dumpling – Menu with Prices – 9319 Foothill Blvd, Rancho Cucamonga

I’ve been coming here since it’s opening. It has been my go to spot for dumplings. I like the selection and price. So I come for a normal visit and put my regular order in: cucumber, fried rice, steamed dumplings, and pan fried dumplings. Order goes as usual. Out comes fast: cucumber, fried rice, and steamed dumplings. Then it goes down hill. We proceed to wait 15 minutes watching mama dumpling slang her hand made dumplings, business as usual… Cool. Another customer comes in, orders two soups and order of pan fried dumplings. How do I know you ask? I watch all this come out and I’m left empty handed with no pan fried dumplings. I shoot a look at the customers that came after me, then to the waiter and say it with my face…dafaq?! He looks at me, then the others customers receipt, then my receipt. Walks over and says so sorry the chef over cooked your pan fried dumplings, would you like to wait? If you can’t figure it out, waiter screwed up the order then proceeded to BS his way out of it. Own your mistakes buddy you’ll get more respect out of life. Bottom line, take home… Food is good, service is hollow…Typical good Asian eats. 2 stars to draw you in to read my rant, cheers!

Sister Liu’s Kitchen – Menu with Prices – namu旁边, 5504 Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd #103, Durham

As the daughter of Chinese immigrants, I’ve eaten a lot of dumplings in my life, and let me tell you, this place is the real deal. Everything is made from scratch and served up on Dixie plates by cheery Chinese women – kind of makes me homesick. The dumplings may seem pricey given the lack of ambiance in the place (basically a teeny storefront and two card tables set up outside), but they’re packed full of flavor. Plus they’re made with handmade wrappers (not the storebought wrappers I rely on when I make dumplings at home), which add a wonderful springy chewiness to the dumpling eating experience. My husband also tried and loved their “beef burger”. It sort of looks like a burger but tastes far better. The “bun” is actually a Chinese bing (pan-fried flatbread), and the “burger” was chopped braised beef. If you’ve ever ordered beef shank as part of a “cold plate” appetizer in a Chinese restaurant, it’s that kind of meat. I also asked about the noodles on the menu – they’re freshly handmade, and I’m looking forward to trying that the next time I visit. Meanwhile, I’ve got a bag of their shrimp, pork, and cabbage dumplings in the freezer, which I can’t wait to cook up!

Yaso Noodle Bar – Menu with Prices – 289 Mercer St, New York

This place is newly opened and yet there was a big crowd inside at lunch time already, which is always a good sign. The menu consists of various types of noodles with meat or vegetarian options. I ordered the stir fry noodle with ribs and spicy dumplings for appetizer (they currently have a special $2 for 3 dumplings deal). The dumplings were great, reminiscent of a soup dumpling in both appearance and taste, although it wasn’t advertised as such. It is filled with juicy beef and the bottom is pan fried for a touch of crispness. It is not super spicy so even people who can’t handle spices can tolerate. While the dumplings were great, the noodles on the other hand can be improved upon. When I first got my bowl, I was admittedly disappointed. Inside was 4 pieces of ribs, a portion of noodles and a few pieces of romaine lettuce. The ribs were well-seasoned and not too tough and were the highlight of the dish. However, the noodles were quite lackluster, tasting similar to what you would get from an instant noodle package (if you want a comparison, it’s quite similar to nissin chow mein teriyaki beef noodles). Needless to say, I wasn’t impressed with what I could have bought at a supermarket. The flavoring could use some garnish such as garlic, scallion, shallot, cilantro, crushed peanuts, etc for more complexity. Additionally, the vegetables didn’t seem to go well with the dish, since it was just raw romaine lettuce and some peas. Bok choi or Napa cabbage stir fry together with the noodles would have been better. Overall, I was happy with the dumplings, but not so happy with the noodles. Since this place is new, they might still improve their dishes over time, so I don’t hold this against the restaurant.

Dump City Dumplings Menu with Prices 384 SW Upper Terrace Dr, Bend

We love dumplings but these are not what you typically think of as a dumpling- they are steamed buns like chinese hum baos. I also like those but could hardly eat these. The dough was actually raw and I didn’t enjoy any of the 4 different flavors I tried. They are over filled and I think that is why the dough was just not cooked, too much moisture from the large amount of filling. The sauces were also underwhelming. I took them back to the counter and said this is raw but they said that was just the nature of their dumplings, ugh. They did offer to refund my purchase but since I had eaten some of it I did not take that offer. They then came over to our table and gave us coupons for 2 free dumplings, so I give them points for trying to satisfy a customer. But if they cannot solve the underdone raw dough issue I don’t think this place will last long.

Minato Japanese – Menu with Prices – 1314 Leesburg Rd, Columbia

Looking for a quick fix to satisfy my hunger. I came across this sushi joint not reading much of the info about this place just a review here and there about it being good. So I rolled the dice. The location is as described from everyone else…… To save you some time since most of you like me go right to the reviews and not so much into the details. This is a Sushi “TAKE OUT”. Not sure how I over read this but it actually wasn’t enough to send me away. I believe I saw the hours from 4pm to 9pm. I entered her shop which had a small section up front to wait on your “Take Out” and the rest was her kitchen. Looked very clean and well kept. She didn’t look busy at all either. I pulled up the menu and asked for options and she didn’t seem to have much input as a true master never talks a big game! I ordered a combo of the sushi norms Salmon, tuna, and eel rolls. Then I also added a soft shell crab roll. Still thinking it wasn’t enough food since the prices were so low I added some pan fried dumplings and a pork belly udon soup. Yeah it was more than enough for one person….. This rating is based solely on a “Take out” perspective for food. Sushi – After taking my first bite the rice had sort of a fresh sweetness taste to it…. almost like it was good quality rice. The raw fish tasted good was not disappointed with the quality of that as well. Off topic but I wonder if she uses the fish market next door… The soy sauce, wassabi, and pickled ginger taste like any sit down sushi place I ever been to but the ginger did taste a little better than other places. The pan fried dumplings were sitting on a bed of lettus which gives it a nice presentation. There wasn’t much wow in the dumplings but I like to eat a lot of dumplings. However the sauce was a really good dumpling sauce that came with it. All in all they worked pretty well together. The Pork Belly Udon soup was a surprise. I was expecting a watered down broth but received a hefty rich and bold flavor of pork. The udon noodles were not overly cooked and kept firm all the way home. Then there were not slices of pork belly but slabs of them! Okay maybe just thick slices but it was soft and made the soup even better. My overall experience here was a great take out experience. I don’t have much longer here for training but would recommend anyone in the area to give it a try if you want to take a meal home. I waited in my car while my phone charged and for my order to be ready but you should call ahead if you are on a time crunch.

Mama’s Kitchen Taiwanese Food – Menu with Prices – 10820 Abbotts Bridge Rd, Duluth

My absolute favorite ever since I moved to John’s Creek. They have not disappointed me yet! (Located inside johns creek hmart food court, alllll the way in the corner) Seafood noodle soup (spicy or not spicy) – delicious and portion is pretty big! All their noodles soups a pretty good. My fav is the seafood. They also have beef, pork and preserved veggie and with option of regular noodle or rice noodle. Fried pork chop on rice – portion is huge and pork chop is seasoned very well. Very savory dish Boiled pork dumplings – very flavorful and bursting with juice and meat inside Taiwanese style spicy boiled fish – slightly pricier than their other menu items, but worth it. Very aromatic and delicious Taiwanese rice noodle (curry or regular) – also a must try item. It’s just plain good. Chicken nuggets: ok, I might have lied when I said I haven’t been disappointed. I got the nuggets once and found it to be very dry. Maybe over fried? But it’s ok, I’m willing to overlook it because everything else I ordered was great. A lot more items to try on the menu and they have a vegetarian menu too! I’m actually sitting here waiting on my fish dumplings and noodle soup as I write this….

Ray’s Cafe & Tea House – Menu with Prices – 141 N 9th St, Philadelphia

What do you do, when you have to go to the DMV and it’s 93° outside ? You reward yourself by going to Ray’s Café and Tea House around the corner! I went there today after a not so bad visit to the DMV. Aimee and Grace (coffee guru) took very good care of me. The place is very small, but you know it was good because two policeman (bicycle cops) were there eating & they had the prime location. The prime location is across from the coffee siphoning apparatus for which Ray’s is famous. I sat near the window facing the bar so that I too could watch the siphoning process. But why I was really there was for the dumpling sampler And the Taiwan beef noodle soup. And of course I was there for coffee. The coffee is famous and it should be it’s delicious. I had ice coffee with the dumpling sampler meal which came with lightly pickled cucumber which is delicious. Actually everything was delicious! Dumpling sampler 5/5 Ice coffee 5/5 (came with a tea cookie-white chocolate dipped and decorated with jimmies) yamcha coffee 5/5 ($8/cup but worth it, also came with a tea cookie -dark chocolate dipped and decorated with jimmies) White truffle cake 4/5 (tasted slightly minty but I’d order it again) I took home most of the cake (I’d three bites) because I was full from two servings of coffee, two cookies and one dumpling sampler and pickles. I also took home another order of cucumbers, the leek dumplings and their famous Taiwan beef noodle soup. I will add follow up on the soup and leek dumplings after I try all. I verified the dumplings and soup are made in-house. I didn’t ask about the truffle cake. After an Ice coffee and dumplings followed by a hot coffee, some cake and another cookie I’m filled to the gills with caffeine and carbs! I’m so happy even after a visit to the DMV, Ray’s has special powers !!! Take out haul: Taiwan beef soup: frankly the beef was a little game-y and too salty 3/5 I’ve had better and closer to home. I wouldn’t order it again. Scallion dumplings: dough was light/noodle-texture and filling was mung bean noodle and scallions- not full of flavor. The dipping sauces made them delicious but on their own dumplings, were just okay. I’d try them in-house again, perhaps the texture will be different 4/5 All was packaged for takeout expertly!

Min’s Dumpling House – Menu with Prices – 1297 E Ontario Ave, Corona

I’m leaving my original review down below because I still think it applies. Today I decided to order a pick up order of the dumplings. I am adding another star because I do genuinely really like the chicken dumplings. My opinion on the fact that the only thing you should order from this place is the dumplings stands. I will only come to this location if I’m really craving dumplings (like i was today). But other than that, please refer to my previous opinion on this place below. The first time i tried this place, was when my family brought me a pick up order of their chicken dumplings. I liked them enough to dine in today with my boyfriend. We decided to get the chicken dumplings and pork dumplings. We also decided to mix it up and get some non dumpling entrees… this is where we made our mistake. We got this beef wrap thing because the picture looked good and let me tel you, they STUFF that with cilantro and the beef ratio is outweighed by the other items. We also ordered the kung pao chicken. Again, the meat was outweighed by other items. I’m literally only giving this two starts because the dumplings. The only reason I’d go back is for the dumplings. Disappointed and I wanted a refund but i didn’t wanna be mean to the really nice employees. Edit: I didn’t post this edit the same day because I thought I would be a little harsh if I did. But after posting the review, both me and my boyfriend were having the worst stomach problems. Not to be TMI, but we got food poising just to say the least. Because of this, i don’t see myself coming back to this place.

Marco & Luca Dumpling Store – Menu with Prices – 176 Zan Rd, Charlottesville

Something interesting here is that this location has a chicken curry that I’ll address later in the review. I enjoy the simplicity of the sauces that they use. The dumpling sauce is sweet yet spicy, not too dense and compliments the dumplings well. The porkiness of the dumpling shines through, yet I wish the chive flavor was more pronounced. The peanut noodles here are quite good, shame that they’re more expensive than the dumplings themselves and the prices have only increased in the most recent years. The sweet and sour noodles are questionable and you find yourself only ordering them once and then reverting back to your peanut noodle orders. The soup is quite generic but one doesn’t come here for the soup. The aforementioned chicken curry was banal and honestly quite uninspired, granted I shouldn’t expect much as their main staple of the menu is dumplings and noodles. Something I wish to see in the future is more variety in dumplings and less exploration of food items no one really asks for. Instead of curry and soups, just have dumplings and noodles and do it well. All in all, its not a bad place to come and chill with a friend for a snack on the Corner if you’re not too hungry.

Royal Dumplings House – Menu with Prices – 1689 Kendall Dr suite g, San Bernardino

Let me begin by saying, if you’re looking for a fancy restaurant, this ain’t it. It’s kinda located in a rough looking plaza, but they can cook some mean dumplings. The owners of this restaurant are so nice and they just are some of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet. I ended order about a quarter of the menu because everything looked so good. I definitely want to try everything on the menu eventually. The dumplings were absolute heaven. There are things that small shops are able to do that places like Din Tai Fung could never replicate. Here, you can taste the authenticity and you can definitely tell they’ve been working on their craft for many years. I had the fried dumplings, soup dumplings and the xiao mai. My criteria for dumplings are based on these three items and Royal Dumpling House hit the nail on all three entrees. Everything is priced cheap but that don’t mean it tasted cheap. Just about everything on the menu was 8.50 and the app section was 4.50 so you could get like 3 different items and potentially pay less than 20 dollars which is absolutely awesome. Going to big name restaurants are great but we’ve got to support the small guys too.

Bing’s Dumplings ?? – Menu with Prices – 34360 Fremont Blvd, Fremont

10 minute waiting list time during the lunch rush, food arriving at the table in less than 5 minutes, delicious and piping hot food to enjoy. What’s not to love about Bing’s!? We were initially nervous since the waiting list was 6+ groups in front of us, but lucky for us people left so we only waited ~10 minutes for a group of 4. One we were seated they have menus for you to mark how many of each item you want. Their menu is extensive but also somewhat limited so you don’t get too distracted on what you should get. For our first time we ordered: + Potstickers + Wontons in Chili Oil + Braised Noodle Soup + Hand Pulled Noodles in Spicy Oil & Ground Pork + Pork Soup Dumplings + Pork & Crab Soup Dumplings + Custard Buns Everything we ordered was delicious. The beef in the noodle soup was tender, filling in the wontons/XLB were not dried and had plenty of soup to drink up, potstickers were perfectly crisp with a sesame coating, and the handpulled noodles were chewy and had a great consistency. The oils were not overpowering and the dishes did not taste bland or overly salty. The custard buns were a great way to end the meal and were just the right amount of sweet filling and chewy bun. I was shocked at how quick Bing’s cleans the tables, takes orders, and serves food. They are a machine here! After this first visit I would definitely come back due to the quick service, delicious food, and portions with the prices. If you enjoyed your visit you can also take bags of wontons to go to enjoy at home.
