Group of 5 (2 adults and 3 kids) ate here for brunch on a Sunday around 11am. Positives: Food was delicious! I had the BBQ chicken salad, which was excellent! The other adult had the “breakfast” chicken fried chicken with hash browns and an egg, with biscuits. Biscuits were buttery and delicious. Kids had grilled cheese sandwiches, fries, Mac and cheese. The food was just great and I’m excited to try other things on the menu. Negatives: Our server was either having a bad day, or does not like kids. Both are understandable but I wish she could have hidden it better. Examples: one child spilled a small cup of water, which we cleaned up mostly ourselves, but the server was visibly annoyed. We asked if they had mashed potatoes as a side and were told “nope, never have, never will.” When we ordered chicken fried chicken, we were asked if we wanted the breakfast or lunch chicken fried chicken. We said “what do you mean” and she said “what do you mean what do I mean, it’s breakfast or lunch” – this ostracism went on for a minute or so before she finally explained the only difference is the sides you can choose. That simple piece of info could have easily been offered initially. I considered a lower rating b/c of the way we were treated but 1) the food was great 2) I think everyone has an off day and I hope that whatever might have been bothering her gets better soon

Sunshine Café – Menu with Prices – 111 Veterans Memorial Blvd, Metairie

I got a hamburger and hubby got the chicken fried steak, cheese grits, biscuits, gravy and 2 egs over easy. Everything was delicious. It’s great for breakfast food and good for lunch. My hamburger came with French fries.

Bojangles’ Famous Chicken ‘n Biscuits – Menu with Prices – 9815 Hospital Blvd, Fredericksburg

They greeted us cheerfully however when we started to order – they were out of the items we wanted. Asked for white meat chicken breasts and had none, several sides were empty except for pinto beans. So, we settled for two chicken thighs each with biscuits and beans then manager yelled at server because beans were dished directly onto the plate instead of in plastic cup. So, we also asked for ham biscuits and received one thin piece of ham in biscuits. Not going back. Chic-Fil-A so much better food wise and nicer to employees and customers too!!!

Paxon Sandwich Shop – Menu with Prices – 1523 Melson Ave, Jacksonville

Maybe 3 1/2 stars, but for sentimental value I opted for 4. Great staff that serve you in a friendly and family like way. The food isn’t gourmet by any means, but it’s definitely good. Recommendations include the cheeseburger, camel rider, chili cheese anything and grilled chicken sandwich for lunch. For breakfast, the breakfast pita or any of their biscuits are a hit! The sweet tea and limeade are also always delicious. Don’t be turned away by the store front or the crowd, if there is one. Lunch can have a rush and before/after school with the high school kids across the street. I’ve been eating here periodically for 20years (most frequently when I was a high school kid across the street) and the food is still consistently tasty and a good value.

Rise Fayetteville – Menu with Prices – 1391 Walter Reed Rd SUITE 102, Fayetteville

When I looked at the menu online, I did not want to like this food. While the descriptions of the offerings sound wonderful, I thought the prices were a bit steep for a very small establishment serving only biscuits and pastries. My husband had been a couple of times and couldn’t wait for me to try it. I had the fried green tomato biscuit with pimento cheese. The pimento cheese is better than most that I have had in a restaurant. I usually make my own, and I am very picky. The fried green tomato was good as well, but the star of the show was the cheddar biscuit. I must disclose that I, unlike my husband, am not a biscuit lover. No one has ever made biscuits like my mother, and sadly, she is no longer with us. This biscuit was exceptionally good. We ate at the restaurant and the coffee was good as well. My husband ordered some biscuits for a meeting, and I was the lucky recipient of a country ham/sweet potato biscuit. Whoa!!! That’s the one! Delicious! I will be back again just the ham biscuits. I have decided after eating here that the size of the biscuit, the generous fillings, and the unique combos make this restaurant a winner for a quick breakfast.

Ted’s Bulletin Menu with Prices 4238 Wilson Blvd Suite 1130, Arlington

We were excited to try the new Teds Bulletin at Ballston. 7 of us- post wedding -met for breakfast. The interior is very attractive- airy, modern mid century design and features comfortable booths . Our server was energetic – but did not offer any suggestions around the menu. He seemed more anxious to take the order than to add to our Teds experience. Our group was of a diverse breakfast eater style – and orders varied from classic eggs to chicken and biscuits. Coffee was served classic diner style- in a silver thermos & was not terribly hot or flavorful . The restaurant was not jammed inside ..but did have a small outdoor crowd — so the kitchen should not have been taxed. The food once it arrived – was sadly uninspired. The chicken and the biscuits was just plain awful – ! An assemblage of three sad tenders …cool and tougher than anyone should serve…..the biscuits dry and hard.. The mambo sauce ..tasted more like a cup of ketchup – couldn’t save the dish. At 17 bucks – we expected flaky warm buttery biscuits with warm moist chicken. This dish was like last night left over chicken & biscuits ….reheated. The breakfast bowl was more flavorful – as was the burrito. They were the two best items . The eggs your way- were just ok , the sausage was not very warm and so was the unappealing color of sausage that has long cooled. A miss mdelivered extra sausage ( it was supposed to be an extra bacon ) was removed after being passed down the table and handled by four of us twice ( those sitting at the table far end could not be reached by the server ) – not exactly the most appetizing to know they would now take it to the rightful patron. The pop tart was supposed to be heated but was barely warm. Grits need a better tasting cheddar and also suffered – as they too should have been served nice and warm – not room temp. ….The unmelted pile of cheese looking like an afterthought on top was a bummer Hash browns were over salted , cool and soggy. I’ve eaten at Teds in Mosaic and the food was much better. I’m chalking this expensive and disappointing breakfast up to a new team who is not yet at speed – but ‘hello’ ……improvements are needed now! A solid breakfast can be had at Silver Diner , the restaurant at the Westin, or Metro 29. The location and atmosphere are swell but the Executive chef needs to ramp up the quality control – as is badly needed around the food… both in taste and presentation. While only a breakfast – it was not inexpensive and it really missed the mark on many dishes. I want Ballston Quarter to succeed so hope the team at Teds goes proactive and reworks this menu.

Stitch Cafe – Menu with Prices – 229 E Sheridan Ave, Oklahoma City

Great coffee, great breakfast and it’s right off the streetcar line (which will be useful next month and beyond)! I went with my family (husband, 5- and 2-year-old) and we sat in couch/lounge area on a quiet Sunday morning. When we walked in we loved the setup. It was so inviting! I ordered a special that had two rosemary biscuits and gorgeous cheese-topped gravy and my husband got the Eggs and Greens, while both the boys got 1 and a half inch thick slices of cinnamon bread. Hey, I see you there feeling bad for my “poor kids” who “just” got the amazing bread bigger than a child size portion of cake. But know this, once they had had about half of their delicious bread, they came after my husband and I for “a bite” which turned into many from each of us to each of them–then they gave us each one bite of their bread before finishing it off! That said, no one left hungry. And I’m still dreaming about those biscuits.

Church’s Chicken – Menu with Prices – 4780 E 13th St N, Wichita

Quick take: One of the best national chain fried chicken restaurants. No reason to eat the trash the colonel is slinging. Unlike Donna G. I’ll be reviewing the food, not whether or not this particular place takes coupons. I mean give me a break! Anyway, it’s probably been 25 years since I last had Church’s. Popeye’s has done a commendable job in taking its place because we all know KFC is wack. KFC’s chicken is greasy, their sides are bland and fake, and their biscuits are the worst. Popeye’s has delicious sides and sauces and we all know their biscuits are the bomb. However, Church’s has always held a special place in my heart. Besides my grandma’s homemade chicken, it was the fried chicken I grew up eating. I was excited to see a location was opening up in Wichita. Stopped by for lunch and grabbed a 3-piece mixed, spicy (of course) with a side of okra and a biscuit. That chicken was every bit as good as I remember it. Big pieces fried up nice and crispy and very little grease. The meat was juicy and had just the right kick of spice. Okra was very good. Crunchy breading and not soggy at all. Last but not least was the biscuit. So good! I honestly thought Popeye’s had the best biscuits on the market but these are hands down my favorite. They’re drop style so they’ve got that craggy exterior to catch the honey butter glaze they put on them. A side and dessert all in one, no extra butter needed! If you’re looking for some high quality, tasty chicken, Church’s has you covered.

Metro Diner – Menu with Prices – 2068 Plank Rd, Fredericksburg

Went in for lunch on Sunday with my husband, around 1230pm. It was pretty busy but we were seated quickly. The server was a very nice young lady. We had water quick, and she kept my husband’s soda full. The menu had lots of yummy options to choose from. The chicken and waffles looked AMAZING! I ordered biscuits and gravy, with cheese eggs (cheese cost extra, be aware most things cost extra, and it’s already kinda pricey) and crispy hash browns. The food took a little long, but they were busy so no surprise there. The portions were good. The taste was too bland to say it was bad, but to flavorless to say it was good. I added lots of salt and pepper to the biscuits and gravy, but still they tasted like nothing really, not even the sausage that was in it. My husband ordered a cheesesteak and max n cheese (mac and cheese cost extra, because it’s a prime side, they must buy expensive cheese) He liked everything. I tasted the mac and cheese, it was good, small portion though, since you have to pay extra they could give more. All in all a nice place. It would be better if they invested a little less in cheese and more on seasoning. I think.

The Daily Bagel – Menu with Prices – 495 Morrill Ave #102, Reno

My boyfriend and I visited our friends in Reno this past weekend and wanted to try a new spot in town. One thing that definitely drew us to The Daily Bagel was that they offer both breakfast and lunch sandwiches as long as they are open! This was a win for us since half of us wanted breakfast and half of us wanted lunch. I opted for the #1 (egg, American cheese, and choice of meat – sausage for me) on a tomato pesto cheese bagel. My boyfriend got the Sports Edition with red onion added on a garlic bagel. My best friend and her fiancé got one breakfast sandwich and a lunch sandwich as well. Our orders came out super fast and steaming hot! We decided to eat inside since it was hot outside and there were tables available. Our sandwiches were individually wrapped and packed up in a paper bag, which made it convenient if we wanted to grab our food and go, or had leftovers. Bagel sandwiches can sometimes be messy, with a high chance of splooge, but we didn’t run into that problem! Despite the sandwiches being stacked full of ingredients, I was happy to find that they were also wonderfully self-contained. Must be some kind of delicious bagel magic. The four of us loved finding this gem in Reno and hope to try other bagel flavors in the future! If you’re seeking out specific flavors, be sure to visit early to get em before their gone – the early bird gets the bagel.

Alice’s Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 867 W Jefferson Ave, San Bernardino

Yay! Thanks Yelpers for helping us find a breakfast spot on the way to Vegas. It was delicious, fast, with friendly service. I ordered the chicken fried steak with extra crispy potatoes (and onions and green peppers which the waitress asked if I wanted to include), eggs over medium and a biscuit and my husband ordered the fried egg sandwich on sourdough with cheese and corned beef and we shared them both. The chicken fried steak was pounded out to perfection with tasty gravy and I’m not sure what the secret ingredient in the potatoes was, but they were super yummy. I would definitely recommend the chicken fried steak with potatoes and if I’m ever in the area I would order it again. The sandwich was a basic breakfast sandwich and was good, but I would probably try something else next time. It did have lots of corned beef on it though and I used the top piece of sourdough to soak up my egg yolks and a little gravy. The place itself is dated, but clean and the bathroom although super small was also very clean. If Alice’s was in my town or even a few towns over I would certainly be a regular!

Royal Fried Chicken – Menu with Prices – 897 Broad St, Newark

Newark on the weekends is a food desert so this 24 hr joint can be very satisfying! Skip the breakfast foods, cakes, and ice cream and go for the fried goods. Their fried chicken is amazing- juicy, savory, and a little bit of crispy. Butter biscuits are better than popeyes and corn nuggets (a southern treat, buttered corn tucked in a fried batter) are a great snack. Coffee is a standout, brewed from the roasters down the street (TM Ward). Cash only.

Shorty’s Cookin Country – Menu with Prices – 603 S Belt Line Rd, Irving

There were some good and then some just average things about this spot. The location is not great and the sign on the front is not appealing. However when you get inside it is just a nice little restaurant. For the food, it was good and it is worth a stop. The best thing by far is the cinnamon pecan pancakes. Absolutely excellent. I had an omelette. The biscuits and gravy that came with them were bad. The biscuits were hard and not good. The gravy was weak and had no sausage in it. However overall everybody enjoyed their breakfast. The pancakes and eggs were all cooked good. Worth the stop if a decent breakfast is wanted
