The name of this business is deceiving. When you hear “Fresno Seafood Company” one might think you can go here to buy fresh seafood and they are the #1 resource in the central valley to do so. Unfortunately that is not the case. Yes they sell fresh seafood, but it is not a huge selection that you might think when you hear “Fresno Seafood Company” You will find a a much better selection over at Island Pacific Supermarket or SF (Shun Fat) Market. I did not compare prices though so who knows, maybe the sell it cheaper here than the aforementioned. Don’t get me wrong though I’m not saying the selection is bad, I was just expecting an expansive selection of fresh seafood that beats supermarkets. That is not the case. But what they do have is fresh. I would say call before hand on what they are selling. Another dimension of this place and where they shine is the cooked food. Good ol’ fried food. Fish and chips are a great deal here. Freshly battered and fried and super tender fish. Very generous portions for a good value. They have tons of other freshly cooked food items. Not just seafood but also meats. They also have some other packaged stuff for sale. So the identity of this place needs work, but what they are doing right now works. The workers are nice and friendly and easy to talk to and ready to help. But most importantly the food is legit, and sometimes that is all that matters.

Triar Seafood Co – Menu with Prices – 3166, 2046 McKinley St # 7, Hollywood

Shhhhh, ok, not sure I should review this joint as not sure if I want tons of folks finding out about this hidden gem. Kudos to my fellow Yelpers for helping to find incredible fresh seafood market. Tucked away in a small warehouse district close to West Dixie Hwy or thereabouts, one will find Triar Seafood Company. They mostly cater to top chefs and restaurants but was pleased to find out they do sell direct to consumers. Picked up 1lb of fresh Scottish Salmon at a competitive price and man oh man, so so good! Their seafood selection is huge. All one has to do, is check it out online, call ahead with your order and show up with CASH. Reference prices and doing some checking, I would say they’re competitive with your local Whole Foods, hence the less than 5-star review but everything is guaranteed Fresh, not frozen. They don’t take credit cards. And you’ll be in and out in about 10min with your fish wrapped and on ice. And with friendly folks there to help, this will mainly be my stop for fresh seafood from here on out.

Seafoodlicious – Menu with Prices – 4435 Skidaway Rd, Savannah

OMG. Y’all, this place has some BOMB seafood. You have to give this place a try if you’re in the area. Seafoodlicious is a small hole-in-the-wall seafood market offering a variety of fresh seafood that you can purchase raw, boiled, or fried. This place has no seating to dine-in, it’s strictly takeout. But don’t let that keep you from stopping by, the food is well worth it. I’m so disappointed in myself for previously dining in at the tourist traps. Honestly, Seafoodlicious beats those places any day portion-wise, taste-wise, and price-wise. Not to mention I think this is where the locals come to get seafood. I came in an hour before closing, and a lot of people kept coming in to order food. That’s a good sign! When you come here, it helps if you come ready knowing what you want to order. The menu and set-up can be a little overwhelming for newcomers. If you don’t know what to get though, it’s okay. Once you come in you can place an order with any of the employees behind the counter and they’ll take your payment. Everything here is reasonably priced. Low country boils are $8.99 and you can get fried seafood for under $10. A lot of items on the menu are under $10. There’s a variety of seafood on ice presented in a glass case – so you can see the seafood right in front of you and choose what you want. Seafood includes small shrimp ($6.99 per lb), medium shrimp, and jumbo shrimp ($9.99 per lb), blue crab, snow crab, fish fillets (your choice of tilapia, swai, or whiting), catfish, whole fish (I can’t remember all but black sea bass was one of them. They serve very large whole fish as well), oysters, conch, squid, and crabmeat. They also serve cooked items like shrimp salad, crab pie, spicy conch, deviled crab, garlic crab, and fried crab. If you want raw seafood, you can just order what you want behind the glass case as is. If you want fried seafood, there is a selection of fried platters on the far left side of the menu. It comes with fries and your choice of dipping sauce. They use swai for the fried fish platter unless otherwise specified. While the fried seafood is tasty and satisfying, I would not go out of my way here for it. I highly recommend getting their low country boil, especially if you’re a newcomer. It’s such a good deal! The low country boil comes with small shrimp, two blue crabs, potatoes, corn, and 100% beef sausage. If you don’t want sausage they will offer to give you extra potatoes, which is nice. I have no idea what they use for seasoning but I guess it would be something along the lines of Cajun seasoning. Then they add garlic butter to it. They may ask if you want seasoning and garlic butter mixed in or if you’d like both on the side. I highly suggest having it all mixed in, the seafood absorbs the flavor better that way. Another option is to just order whatever you want behind the glass case and ask them to cook it. I think you can only either get it deep fried or boiled (if boiled they will add garlic butter and seasoning). My family of five ended up ordering 4 low country boils, one fried platter of fish and fries, one fried swai fish fillet, and one pound of boiled jumbo shrimp ($9.99 per lb), along with some soft drinks and sauces. It was A LOT of seafood and the grand total was $66 – not bad at all! The fried swai fillet yields two portions of fried fish. It was tasty and not greasy. The boiled jumbo shrimp and the low country boils were DELICIOUS. I think my eyes rolled to the back of my head when I took my first bite. Everything is seasoned so well. The corn is delicious and soaks up all that good seasoning. The beef sausage and potatoes were good too. I was shocked by the generous portions they gave us. They truly filled the container. With the potatoes, sausage, and corn, this makes for a really filling meal. None of us could finish our food. I think each container could easily be shared between two people. As for the sauces, additional sauces are 50 cen

Mifflinâ??s House Menu with Prices 2467 Jefferson Rd, Athens

Fresh lively authentic Peruvian food in a spot that has held several different restaurants over the years. They have brightened it up with warm colors and lights and comfortable booths and tables. The menu has about 6 pages of foods including an entire page of cervichs. We had a big plate of seafood fried rice and the seafood trio which has the fried rice, the classic fish cervich and some chunks of fried fish and fried yucca. The rice dish had a bit too much salt, but had plenty of well cooked and tasty shrimp some rubbery calamari and some fish and onions with soy and tomato sauces flavoring the rice. The cervich was a generous portion of fresh fish plus onions and hamony corn and very sour with lime juice. There’s are 3 other options. The fried fish was tasty and the yucca was a nice foil for the sourness of the cervich. Service was quick, friendly and pleasant. The owner came to our table to visit which was nice. Portions we’re very large and the prices reasonable for what you get. The varied menu has many choices. This place is worth a visit for authentic Peruvian food.

The Chippery – Menu with Prices – 983 Communipaw Ave, Jersey City

I was craving a fresh seafood platter…and yes this order was indeed fresh seafood. Fresh seafood always tastes good…right? However I couldn’t get past three major elements in why I would invest fried foods 1) Well seasoned crunchy battered eats 2) Crispness on the outside tenderness on the inside 3) Big flavors 4) Light oils but not oily This platter I ordered from The Chippery Food Truck was titled “Titanic the Unsinkable” consisted of fried fish, shrimp, clam strips, calamari and chip rounds. With this order I had very high expectations that were simply unmet. I forgot the Titanic did sink!! And so did this platter for me!! This platter was disappointing to say the least. What I got was an oily bland flavored flavorless collection of seafood. Yes the fish was fresh but goodness could I get some flavor besides oil?!! I didn’t even get a lemon wedge to cut through some of that oil!! The flavorlessness of this platter is for children or a fearful of seasonings immature palate! The lemonade I ordered was weak as well…just lemon water made for again an immature bland palate. The potato rounds are not even worthy of mentioning…can I get a light salting after the fried chips? I gave this review a 3 star rating only because the seafood was fresh and that you could taste. The fry was executed well in that it was not over done or rubbery. I will say, I did enjoy the clam strips. The cocktail sauce and tartar sauce were really good! I was impressed by the portion sizes…the portions were quite generous and that is a plus. However, I don’t know that I would order again after spending $68 on two bland yet abundant platters. I do think this food truck has some redeemable potential in my estimation. I won’t totally write them off but, I will say with improvements in the areas I pointed out this trucks offerings would be out of this world!!!

Tutto Italiano Menu with Prices 1889 River St, Hyde Park

This place has the most amazing Italian subs. Freshly sliced deli meats on freshly baked scala bread, with generous portions. They also have fresh eggplant, olives, cheeses, sliced deli meats to take home , various different subs, home made frozen pasta dishes, excellent red sauce all good. They sell bottles of wine, unique soft drinks, snacks, Bakery items, candies. They even sell hats and ravioli makers, very unique things. The food is just so good, smells great when you open the door! Just be prepared to wait in line, it’s usually very busy. But worth it.

Sexton’s Seafood Birmingham Menu with Prices Heights Village, Heights Village 3164, Birmingham

I can always count on Sexton’s to have anything I want at any time, and the freshest selection of it. Face it, we live in a great place for seafood. Most everything you get here was caught on a boat just a day or so ago. You can always count on fresh seafood from Sexton’s and the prices aren’t really that bad considering what the have to offer (ie, consider the time it takes you to drive to the beach and back – none less than 8hours). This family run business is all about service, too. They are so very friendly every time you walk in, never forgetting who their customers are. They have a great selection of all “lumps” of crab so your crabcakes are PERFECT every time with a mix of fresh claw meat and jumbo. Don’t want to make your own? Well, they have freshly made crabcakes for you in their case. They also have a good selection of soups and gumbos and all the spices needed to make your fish fry, shrimp boil, or your french country mussels dinner fabulous! Some things I can’t readily find in my favorite gro sto. Sexton’s is the only way to go if you’re cooking seafood tonight. Get some extra hot sauce – What time shall we be there?

Ronnie’s Crab Shack – Menu with Prices – 1411 Castle St, Wilmington

I’m the person that usually will order fish & chips if I see it on a menu, so needless to say, I am always on the hunt for good fried fish. I had seen a bunch of positive comments about this place, so guess where I had to go on my cheat day? ? The service was wonderful, the employee was very friendly and playful while still being patient as we were trying to figure out what to order as first time visitors. We ended up with a combo plate (fish, shrimp, & scallops), a Whiting plate, & banana pudding. The establishment is carry-out only, and wow, they are so consistently busy with people coming in & out for both the cooked food & fresh seafood selection. The amount of food you receive is generous, and for a good price! I didn’t personally enjoy the banana pudding, but the BF loved it & we both agreed the hush puppies were some of the better ones we’ve had. Will def come back the next time I’m ready for some more fried fish

Mr. Fish Seafood Market – Menu with Prices – 6307 N Kings Hwy B, Myrtle Beach

***THIS IS THE SPOT YOU NEED TO COME TO FOR FRESH FISH AND GREAT PORTIONS*** We had one goal for ourselves foodwise when coming to Myrtle, and that was to get fresh seafood. We deliberated on whether or not we should check out one of the MANY seafood buffets but ended up finding this place instead. I cannot stress this enough: this place is HEAVEN for the seafood lover. Everything you get is incredibly fresh, ans the portions are fanstastic as well. I tried a little bit of everything–the fried grouper was crunchy and soft, not overly oily; the seared scallops literally melted in your mouth; the salmon was HUGE and well seasoned; the crab cake had massive chunks of crab in it; the grilled mahi mahi was meaty and steak-like, yet soft and smooth; and the buffalo shrimp…well, there aren’t enough words. This place is special because it is unassuming and knows its craft well. It’s a seafood market as well, so you can even grab your taste of the sea in bulk and head home to cook it yourself, though after eating the seafare here, I’ll be hardpressed to recreate the dishes with the precision and care that they did at Mr. Fish. Even the hushpuppies and fries were out of this WORLD. My last word on the matter: Mr. Fish = top five seafood spots I’ve ever been to, no question!

Anderson Seafoods Menu with Prices 1901, 4780 Bryson St, Anaheim

As a professional in the culinary industry and a food blogger, I’ve had the pleasure of working with products from Anderson Seafoods and I must say it is by far the freshest seafood you’ll ever cook with (if you’re not a fisherman!) Working side by side with UPS, this company makes sure to ship overnight in very well packaged boxes that keep your seafood and fish safe and fresh. Your products arrive smelling ocean fresh, none of that fishy smell! The variety of fresh and frozen fish, as well as other seafood such as lobster, scallops and more, plus their potstickers (they’re AMAZING by the way) is great. I’ve tried a few new to my fish, like Ono and Opah. Anderson Seafoods also provides education and knowledge. The site is packed to the brim with tips on cooking specific fish, as well as information on how they do business, on where their fish is from, and more. Oh, and fantastic recipes to inspire you as well are on the website and blog. Their customer service goes above and beyond to cater your every need! A small team of professionals make it happen. If I were to recommend a seafood provider for a restaurant or just for enjoyment in your own home, Anderson Seafoods is the one and only I’ll recommend. Note: Mind you, this is an online company, not a restaurant.

Louisiana Famous Fried Chicken – Menu with Prices – 9026 Archibald Avenue (7th & Archibald, Rancho Cucamonga

I purchased two half-chicken dinners here yesterday. They were cooked to my order and I had to wait a bit for my order. This was OK by me because the chicken was still very hot when I got it home (I live a 15 minute or so frome this location). Fancy that, HOT commercial fried chicken that had not been sitting in a hot case for who-knows how long drying out, whoo-HOO! Service was good and friendly. The pieces were quite large; they must be using the grocery store chickens, you know, the 5-6 pounders Vons and such sell (hard to find a true 3-4 lb fryer because they are all sold to the chains). Nice chicken flavor, not super salty like a LOT the stuff at other chains and grocery stores. The chicken breasts were cut in half because they were of the type that weights 12 oz plus, gigantor size, which is just fine by me. I had chicken breast that was VERY juicy, properly cooked! Everything else was nicely cooked too. The meat had a nice texture. It was not brined I am sure. Brining tends to make fried chicken more soft in texture. The texture and flavor of this was chicken and not of chickeny-salt. The collards were seasoned with some bacon and were tasty but way too salty. Beans and rice, well, the beans were not seasoned other than salt; nothing to write home about. The rolls were a standard white dinner roll and ok. This was decent, basic fried chicken and I would consider purchasing from here again because the chicken was not too salty, DID taste like chicken and was freshly cooked for me. The sides were meh. Recommended for a fresh, cooked, tasty and HOT (though not seasoned other than salt and pepper) fried chicken. Note: The chicken in fried in the same oil that the fish is fried in. This is not objectionable to me when the chicken is hot. When the chicken is cold, the fish flavor it quite evident. Remember to buy it then eat it HOT.

Breakwater Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 107 Harbor Way, Santa Barbara

Shame on you Breakwater. I visited hoping to receive the tasty breakwater seafood of my younger days and experienced a disappointing frozen fish flash-fried nightmare. Disgusting. My scallops were oozing cold milky goo from inside a hard fried crust. They served me obviously re-fried fish sticks. On the menu it said that they would be fresh fried halibut, but they were so dry they made my throat dry. I had no fun trying to wash the dry fish flakes down my throat. Pease stop, sell that restaurant to someone who’ll care. Santa Barbara is the riviera of the west and a world class travel destination being the gold standard for left cost fun in the sun. How can you take the name of breakwater and slop it in nasty old fry oil. The Breakwater isn’t just a name to capitalize on, it means something to some folks who’ve spent their life by the sea and enjoy fresh catch seafood. Make seafood the right way or please shut this business down. As a side note the waitresses were delightful folks and very helpful and they can’t be held responsible for the garbage being served by the restaurant chiefs and owner.

Downtown Stockton Asian Farmers’ Market – Menu with Prices – 333 Washington St, Stockton

This farmers market is by far the best in San Joaquin county and beyond. Many of the farmers are local and many come up from the Fresno area. These are small farmers, primarily asian (Hmong, Laotian, Chinese, Cambodian, etc.) but also a few other ethnicities in the mix. The fruits and vegetables reflect this: a fantastic variety that reflects whatever given season. Summer is full of many varieties of pepper, cucumber, eggplant, tomato, stone fruit, bitter melon and much much more. Winter full of a myriad of brassicas, citrus, root vegetables and much much more. Pricing is very competitive – $1 per bunch or 6 for $5. The bunches are generous. It is not just fruits and veggies – fresh eggs, balut, live chickens, tofu, soy milk, chow fun, a Filipino bakery, live plants, honey, a greasy Chinese food roach coach and a whole section of seafood vendors. Of the seafood vendors there are a few that sell almost all frozen fish, shell fish and crustaceans – the quality from these vendors is dicey but prices very good. However, there are a couple of the seafood vendors I highly recommend: One is a small truck that comes from Monterey with all fresh fish – typically anchovies, smelt, rockfish, squid but often higher grade fish such as albacore, pompano, halibut and salmon. The other is a truck that comes up from Santa Barbara with red rock crab and occasionally sea urchin. The market is on Saturday mornings – rain or shine (it is under the crosstown freeway). I think the only Saturday this market would not be open is if Xmas fell on that Saturday. I heard Sunset Magazine ranked this the #1 farmers market in California – I have not verified this but I would definitely say it is one of the best I have been to.
