After reading the reviews here, I expected an amazing coffee house experience. It was lackluster. I appreciated the multi-use coffee/performance space to be sure. I loved the open (no screen!) fireplace and prayer flags on the amazing tree out back too. I just wished the coffee were better, or at least less expensive ($3 for a single cap). I also wish the establishment stood out more from the street; we really had to hunt for it a bit. Maybe they want to keep the non-Southsiders away. It wouldn’t take much to bump this up to 4 or 5 stars. Perhaps start by having a secondary menu within sight of the order counter. I remain hopeful!

Bush’s Chicken – Menu with Prices – 1425 N New Rd, Waco

We arrived without planning so it was right at the usual lunch time so slightly crowded. There was nothing to ‘guide’ us to order, etc. No line designators so we stood about until it seemed those who were there before us had ordered. In this establishment, it appears one orders from a counter-person who then proceeds to complete the entire order before placing the tray on the counter for retrieval. Our person got my husband’s hot food order before beginning my salad order and apparently was sidetracked with something. His order cooled before the tray was delivered to us. The food was passable but certainly nothing we could rave about. We won’t be returning but I suppose it could do in a pinch.

Duck Donuts – Menu with Prices – 1812 Sam Rittenberg Blvd #16b, Charleston

Today started off at 6:30am. Made a large cup of coffee and hit the road for some of these donuts before a beach trip. Felt like we drove forever, but that’s because we did. Upon walking into the peacefully quiet establishment somewhere about 7:30 I was overwhelmed. It was like I was a child again (this weekend) and was at Toys-R-Us with to many choices and not enough Geoffrey Bucks. Fortunately the wise one behind the counter showed up the picture menu, advised us of prices (individual and per half dozen), and then said “Don’t forget to choose a Duckie”. THEY SELL RUBBER DUCKIES!! $2!!!! So, basically after inhaling four of the six within 2/3rds of a mile from the shop I am of the firm belief that any donut from this establishment will make you wanna go back and buy another Rubber Duckie. Yeah and I stood at the glass and watched them make my donuts to order.

Taj e Chaat – Menu with Prices – 39497 Fremont Blvd, Fremont

Taj e chaat makes very good samosa chaats. I also like their lamb boti wraps. Taj e chaat is more of a 3.5 star place. I’ll bump it to a 4 star rating are for the 2 items I like there. The other items like the mixed grill plate is kind of pricey for a small amount of food you get. Usually can go to a Indian buffet and eat to your hearts delight lots of Indian dishes. I really wouldnt make a practice of eating at taj e chaat too often bc an Indian buffet is better, quantity and the quality is comparable. Lately their prices have increased by $1-2 which makes it less of a value. When I do have a hankering for samosa chaat or lamb wrap, I will frequent this place sometimes.

Water Street Coffee Joint (Downtown) – Menu with Prices – 315 E Water St, Kalamazoo

It’s a year ago I want to wash it and I have an amazing time it’s a great place to have coffee and her staff is amazing and I really love to go back it was enjoyable and the coffee was tasty and everything had to do with why street right in downtown and if anyone has to go somewhere for a coffee place in Kalamazoo I would definitely recommend water Street. I think I remember I had espresso and it was delicious and just write my touch is it close to all the great spots to eat at two and near the Radisson hotel. So if you’re in the area and looking for a neat place to check out a vacant water Street. So it’s not exactly Grand Rapids but it’s something to think about. They sure know how to get the pastries baking so either place and they roast their coffee in the warehouse and I would simply say they’re the best there’s another places too but I just think that a cool hipster spot

Caffe Umbria – Menu with Prices – 710 SW Madison St, Portland

I’ve had coffee here before and it’s pretty good. But, there are lots of options for coffee in Portland. Service is what sets them apart. I came in today for a short latte. I stood at the counter waiting for service. I wasn’t sure if I was standing in the right spot because none the 3 employees would assist me. There was only one other couple at the end of the counter buying bulk coffee. I stood in front of the espresso machine and looked the woman in the eye. I leaned forward trying to make eye contact. She looked to the left of me. She looked to the right of me. She looked above me. Another employee came in from the back. She made herself very busy for an empty coffee shop. I looked to her and she looked everywhere but at me. She rushed away to clear a couple of tables. I looked at my son and asked if he could see me thinking I had become invisible. He confirmed he could see me. I smelled my armpits and I think I was doing OK. I checked my nose and nothing was dripping. I leaned forward again right in front of the employee and she made herself very busy cleaning the espresso machine. Finally, I grabbed my son’s hand and walked out into the cold. I realize we all miss the obvious, but like I said there are a lot of places to buy coffee in Portland. I suggest wearing safety orange or chartreuse if you head into this place. Maybe start disrobing or singing off tune and you might get service.

Peet’s Coffee – Menu with Prices – 2005 17th St, Denver

I work downtown and I have option for Peet’s or an International chain that shall remain nameless; both an equal distance from my office. I have transitioned to be a Peet’s customer 100%. From the initial “good morning” to receiving my coffee I always feel welcomed and that I am more than a $5 sale. I find their Peet’s app extremely helpful even if my drink isn’t specifically available for ordering. On busy work days I order and pay ahead on the app so I can pick it up and return to my meetings. I have to custom order my drink; a quad shot espresso macchiato (not the caramel kind). When I ordered through the app for the first time and went to pick up my coffee the barista said “hello” and began to tell me that she thought that was me that ordered and she knew what I wanted and how I liked my coffee. I’m in heaven with my Peet’s barista’s and feel like we are more than just a coffee order. A great cup of coffee can make or break your day some days and if I come to Peet’s I know my day is going to be amazing! The location is hard to beat, Union Station across from Whole Foods – perfection.

SoZo Coffee House – Menu with Prices – 1982 N Alma School Rd, Chandler

So last night my friends and I had gone to sozo to get coffee and play games. I had to run to the 99 cent store to grab something for a game we were playing and not 2 minutes after I had gotten back and sat down the owner comes over to our table and said a very rude tone ” Are we going to make any drinks? Are you going to buy anything? It’s a very strong suggestion”, then stomps out there front door. Then when I went to order drinks, I had asked for 2 large mochas extra sweet. It took them about 20 minutes to make the drinks and when I got them they were both very bitter and watered down. I went up to the counter to ask if it was possible for a replacement or a refund because the coffee was undrinkable. The guy at the counter says to give him a second, he grabs the trash by the counter to go take it out then goes and whispers into his coworkers ear then they both look at me and she gives me a dirty look. So I sit down and wait for him to come back. At this time another employee comes into and steps behind the counter. The female workers stood him looks at me and then whispers to him and he looks back at me and gives me a dirty look. I have never felt so unwelcome. I feel like my request was not demanding or unreasonable. I don’t understand why we were treated so poorly. Safe to say I will never step foot into Sozo Coffehouse ever again. I would advise anyone reading this to think twice before going to Sozo Coffeehouse.

Grace Coffee Co. – Menu with Prices – 417 State St, Madison

The iced coffee, cold-brewed with a blend of Ethiopian coffees, is the best I’ve had yet. Thick, rich, deep, dark, dense…but not bitter — more like a dessert you just enjoy more with each taste. I think it’s the only cold-brewed coffee I’ve ever completely finished. Good to the last delicious drop. The interior walls of the old Sacred Feather space are painted black and it is settling after a 3-mile walk, along with the presence of a large and friendly dog in residence. Pastries from Madison Sourdough are welcome and I enjoy something spiral and yummy with my coffee. The place is really insulated from street noise – how did they accomplish this? I sit at a counter right in the window overlooking State Street and hear no street traffic. If you enjoy people watching with your coffee in the good weather but don’t want to be right on the street, come to Grace Coffee. One curious note: the restroom is clean and spacious but there is no covering on the window…don’t know what to make of this, but maybe Grace Coffee should invest in a shade of some kind.

Bluebeard Coffee Roasters – Menu with Prices – 2201 6th Ave, Tacoma

This place has excellent coffee and a very large sitting space. If I lived in the area, this would be a great spot to hang with friends. I sat in here working and this place filled up and stayed full pretty much the whole time I was here. I ordered a latte with light vanilla and it was delicious. Coffee is on point. There are a few downside. I felt like there is a click here at this coffee shop, which is great for people in the click, however I was just visiting from out of state and randomly picked this place because there was a spot to park and the yelp reviews. It seemed like the Baristas were friendlier to the locals or regulars. Which, doesn’t make it the most inviting for outsiders. I walked up to order and there really wasn’t a clear place to order and there was 2 barista behind the bar and a few patrons standing talking on my side of the counter. I could clearly see that they had already been served. I kinda stood their awkwardly waiting to order. I then had to ask what the WiFi was and I misunderstood what he had said. So I confirmed and he then said, no it’s the name of the coffee shop you’re in, in a rude slightly condescending tone. Well, I didn’t know the name of the coffee shop I was in since I randomly walked it. I want a coffee shop to be welcoming and warm, and this wasn’t it.

Covenant Crab Co – Menu with Prices – 4458 Cleveland Ave, Fort Myers

Today I went into Covenant crab to get some crabs. I just want the owner to know every weekends me or my husband coming to your establishment and buy two to three dozens of crabs. Today it was a Dollar Tree wig wearing dirty rude no class having oversized batwing lashes wearing heifer working alone. I should have turned around from entering the store the music was blasting way too loud this is supposed to be a christian-based establishment this music was very inappropriate. She wasn’t even inside of the store I had to wait for her to come in she was outside on the phone. So ask you a question counter I asked her a question about some crabs she ignored me and continue to talk on the phone. I asked her again the same question she threw up one finger in the air and you could tell by her body language she was very annoyed because I kept asking her the same question. At this point with her body language and the way she started yelling at me I asked her was she there to help the customer or not so instead of fighting with her I just told her I will go somewhere else and I will let the owner know about her nasty attitude. On the way of me walking out the door she yelled out for me to go somewhere else she did not care. It’s obvious that she doesn’t care you can tell by her appearance that she does not care the only thing she cares about is coming to work getting a paycheck she could care less if one customer don’t show up as long as she’s getting a paycheck. So with that being said I would never again visit this place of business unless this thing is removed from this establishment because I refuse to go anywhere and spend my hard-earned money if someone is ignoring me at the end of the day the customers are the one that make sure your establishment stay running because if the customer does not come and spend money you will not remain open

Biggins’ Big Dip Menu with Prices 197 Portage Lakes Drive, Akron

I stopped at Biggins Big Dip a couple times last year. They have a large selection of things to order. I have never seen so many cool ice cream creations before. I havent tried one of them but I will this summer. I had bought a bunch of coney dogs for my coworkers and we all loved them. They took time to make them up in separate containers so they wouldnt get soggy for me. I also had a large banana split on another visit. That thing was huge and I couldnt finish it. It was amazing though.

Thai Diamond 2 Menu with Prices 2222 SE 27th Ave, Amarillo

I work across the street. Always smells delicious. Called and placed a to-go order. Was NOT mentioned over the phone that they only accept cash. Walked up to the door, which has a sign on it that says CASH ONLY. Rather than be discourteous and not inform them, I went inside to let an employee know that I would have to cancel my order. Upon approaching the counter I thought there were no employees in the front of the house, until finally, a girl who I thought had been a customer got up from the table in which her and her partner were eating, and with a sigh she walked behind the counter. I let her know I’d have to cancel my order because I didn’t have cash. “You don’t have cash?” She asked while rolling her eyes. “No, I’m sorry.” “There’s an ATM in the parking lot right across the street.” “I know, I work across the street.” “Why don’t you just walk across the street and get some cash?” “Because I’m on my lunch break, I don’t have time.” (not that it’s any of your business) “So you want to cancel your order?” “Well yes I’m gonna have to.” Another sign and another eyeroll as she walks away mid-sentence to yell to the kitchen “cancel the to-go, she doesn’t have cash.” That was the end of our conversation as she sat back down at the table with her partner to finish her lunch that I had so rudely interrupted. -A simple “by the way, we take cash only” when I placed my order over the phone would have meant this never happened in the first place. -Girl who works at the counter weekdays at noon needs a serious attitude adjustment and to have a date with (what I assume was) her boyfriend when she’s NOT on the clock. Sadly I won’t be returning due to the way I was treated. Plus cash only is a real pain. It’s a shame because it always smells amazing, so you get two stars instead of one.
