OVERPRICED!! Stopped in for lunch . Only somewhat reasonable lunch special was fish and chips for 15.00. All other options were 20.00 and up( even salads) except maybe the soup. Ordered a lemonade with it which I thought was going to be a fountain drink or fresh squeezed for 3.70. It turned out to be a very tiny bottle. The 3 filets were very small and thin. Almost more breading than fish. The board does not specify what fish you are going to get so they are probably frying up scraps. They did taste good and fresh. The chips are tasteless frozen crinkle cut potatoes. This assortment came out in a French fry boat. 15.00 for a handful of food was ridiculous.Almost 4.00 for a half sized bottle of juice also ridiculous. Anywhere else I eat for lunch I am full until dinner . Not in this case. I ended purchasing another drink at a different location since I was still thirsty. It is very clean and does not actually smell like a fish market and has some nice tables for you to eat at. I briefly glanced at their fresh fish prices too and they also seemed very high. Apparently the people in this area do not mind overpaying for food . The Fish Peddler on Commercial is much more reasonable and serves better quantity of food.

Rum and the Lash – Menu with Prices – 4801 Bienville St, New Orleans

I hate to say it but I was SO disappointed by my fish and chips. I figured that at an Irish pub, what could be better than a pint o’ Guinness or Magners/Bulmers and some fish’n’chips? Mistake! The chips were overcooked and bordered on burnt. My fish was the real travesty though. The breading was SO thick, and cooked so that the outside was crispy but the layers below the very outside were soggy. The batter itself was gummy and slightly sticky, and made it so you couldn’t taste the meat underneath it. The fish pieces lacked salt, and not even the vinegar could save it the flavor. I’ll admit I ended up throwing away the second piece because it made me feel ill after consuming the first. I love Finn’s so much but this was such a disappointing meal. That’s what I get for trying to be Irish. Tl;dr: avoid the fish and chips, no matter how authentic you’re feeling

Los Potrillos – Menu with Prices – 8825 Evergreen Way, Everett

I finally decided to stop into Los Potrillos for lunch after driving by this restaurant for years. Free parking can be found in the parking lot. Discover is an accepted form of payment. Lunch menu is offered daily from 11am-3pm. Los Potrillos offers a full drink menu; however, doesn’t offer a bar/lounge. I prefer to sit in the lounge rather than the restaurant area. Complimentary chips, salsa and pico are offered to snack on while looking over the menu. The chips were harder than I like. The salsa thin and watery. The pico was good. I ended up mixing the salsa and pico together. For lunch I ordered the #4 One Burrito for $8.25: ground beef burrito served with rice and refried beans. I opted out of the rice since I do not care for Mexican rice and requested additional beans in replacement. The burrito was bland in taste with an odd cheese that didn’t seem to melt thoroughly. The beans were delicious – my favorite part of my lunch. During my visit, several families with small children dined here. Large parties can be accommodated. Staff was friendly and unobtrusive. Overall, Los Potrillos offers decent sized meals for reasonable prices. Personally I will not return to Los Potrillos for a couple reasons, one being the lack of a bar/lounge and the second being the poor chips and salsa.

Mac’s Fish / Chips / Strips – Menu with Prices – 610 W 54th St, Minneapolis

It is a small shop with decent choice, you can just get the fish, one fish and chips, or classic come with two fish and chips. I got the classic combo since I cannot decide which type of fish I wanna get. I ask the staff there, and they are recommend to try walleye and cod. I try different fish and chips when I go to different state and city. This is definitely one of the best fish and chips I ever eat. They fried right after you order, and they won’t overcook it And you can feel the crunchy. But overall I like walleye after try two different fish. This is a spot I will come back when I return to this city again. And next time I will just order walleye.

Hilltop Cafe – Menu with Prices – 10955 Lowell Ave, Overland Park

I found the dine-in lunch service to be fast, and friendly. The two ladies worked well together. My turkey club melt had delicious bread, and plenty of tasty turkey with fresh veggies. Many chips options were available including my favorite veggie straws. They also offered ice cream bars, salads, soups, and some candy. The price was reasonable ($7.49 for sandwich, chips and a drink). It’s a good option if you find yourself in or near the Prosperity Advisors building.

Blue Bottle Coffee – Menu with Prices – 4001 Piedmont Ave, Oakland

Blue bottle was cute… as a small location in JLS, just passed downtown Oakland. It was a small, privately-owned Oakland-local company. Today, blue bottle is not small, not private, not cute. While they market themselves as a “little guy”, they are (now) owned by the tycoon conglomerate company, Nestle. Blue bottle has zero personality or “story.” They just sell expensive coffee at roughly $5. It’s good, but so are the other S E V E N coffee shops on piedmont. In case you miss this (Piedmont)Blue bottle, don’t worry… there’s another Blue Bottle a half mile down the road on Broadway (really not kidding). Despite how they market themselves, they are not local, or privately owned. This store on Piedmont is paying premium cost for retail space on a street where small-businesses continue to slowly shut down, and large boring chains (like this) are opening. Piedmont has several local coffee spots now being smothered by the Starbucks, Peet’s and the recent Blue Bottle. Soon I’m sure we can look forward to Chipotle and Target… Please don’t support Blue Bottle. Too many actual local little guys are already here, and have great coffee. Support local business, especially when it’s better. Blue Bottle does not have a sense of community.

Katie’s Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 1180 Oxford St E, London

About half full for a Sunday lunch. It is a relatively small place. The restaurant was clean. Pop is $2.25 per can. For two cans, I could go to the grocery store and buy a case. No refills for you. The servers were friendly, but hard to get their attention if needed. I ordered chicken fingers and fries. The fries looked like they were fried in grease that has not been changed in quite some time, but they did actually taste quite good. However, I will not be able to salvage the chicken fingers for this review. I am pretty sure they are just ordered frozen by some supplier. A party at our table ordered fish and chips. His fish looked was also just frozen fish ordered from some supplier. The prices are average for a diner, the portion sizes average as well. When all is said and done, I will not return to this place. Although friendly and clean, the food tasted ok, soft drinks are way too expensive, no refills, they cook frozen pre-purchased food … I know of other diners that make their food “home made” for the same price and have soft drink refills. I will give this place three stars as not to discourage people from trying it out for themselves if they were thinking about it … but really, in my mind, two stars is more appropriate.

Harbor Meat & Seafood – Menu with Prices – 215 Helena Ave, Santa Barbara

We’re very fortunate to live in an awesome town that has several fish markets to choose from. Most of them are actually pretty good, but this one is definitely the best! The staff is extremely friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, but most importantly of all their seafood is super fresh and amazingly delicious! It looks very industrial from the outside, and it is. They mainly supply restaurants in town, and for a while I wasn’t sure they were open to the general public. I kick myself for not checking it out sooner because they really do have great seafood. So don’t be afraid to go peak your head through the plastic curtain into the chilled fish room where you’ll find one of the friendly staff to help you. You will literally be walking in to a refrigerated room that they do prep in, so depending on the day you may find someone prepping a bunch of fish for a local restaurant, etc. Don’t expect to see a fancy display case of fish. In fact, there isn’t a display case at all. However, they are happy to bring anything out you want to see and are very knowledgeable about their product. I recommend asking them what’s fresh, although really it’s all fresh, but some of it may have previously been frozen. Sometimes they just got something extra spectacular in that day, so I always jump on that. I recently had a piece of halibut from there that was to die for. Best piece of halibut I’ve ever had. I enjoyed seeing how thoroughly everything was cleaned and that they kept it at a nice cool temperature to keep the fish fresh. I highly recommend checking it out if you like good, fresh fish at really reasonable prices. Also, if you buy a whole fish it’s less expensive and they’re usually willing to break it down for you free of charge (fillets, steaks, etc.) So, if you have a friend or two you can split a whole fish with, or just a hungry family, this is a really great way to buy. I haven’t checked out the meat market side, although having been to the fish side several times now I’m sure the quality is just as good on the meat side. Just not as big of a meat eater as I am fish.

Lapeer Seafood Market Menu with Prices 12 N Broad St, Alpharetta

**FOOD: Overpriced items for what you’re getting, hit & miss dishes & limited food menu. For a place calling itself a seafood restaurant it really had VERY VERY LIMITED Seafood and a limited menu. 2 fresh fish item the day we were there and maybe 2-3 other shellfish items, unless you count the fried fish and chips as an upscale fish item. I guess we came on the wrong day because scallops were only being served on another day. I seem to remember they had 1 or 2 salads, 1 soup, 1 chicken, 1 steak option. Really should just rename this place $$Chuck & Shuck$$ because all they really ‘want to’ serve are the expensive drinks and expensive oysters **COST (out of 4$): $$$$ $300 later and we were still hungry and had to go to mcdonalds for the kids right afterwards. Sorry, but this place was not worth it for us. Lobster Pasta – Maybe had 8 anemic strands of pasta and 1 small claw of lobster meat and that was $40. Fish & Chips $20 for 2 mediocre sized strips of (unknown) fish. The most egregiously priced item was the whole snapper for 2 – it wasn’t that large, came swimming in olive oil, covered in dill to hide the fish no doubt and had some sort of sour dressing or something. It was not that good. That snapper was $85, yep not a typo. I could have had a good steak or lobster, oh hell I could have had both a steak and lobster (surf and turf) at one of the fine dining establishments OTP we’ve been to. Our gripe isn’t that we paid $300 for dinner because we have paid that and much more for a wonderful dinner/experience at other places. It’s just that THIS meal was by far not worth $300. **SERVICE: I had a bad feeling about this place when 1. the drink menu was longer than the food menu 2. the server was persistently trying to sell us drinks/wine and then ignored us when all we wanted was water because we’re non-drinkers. Also we think our server must have been new, she didn’t seem to know the paltry menu very well. What really tipped us over was that our starters and mains took FOREVER to come. We had an early seating so it wasn’t that busy, but because we had waited so long for our dinner it was packed by the time we left. Also the lack of parking around the restaurant is a main detractor for us. No valet option was offered either. We ended up having to park far far away **DECOR: love the clean fresh white washed shiplap board design, tasteful nautical touches (lamps, wood chairs), liked their earthen pottery dishware so on trend. **RECOMMEND: Don’t recommend. Will not be coming back. Yes the bread was good, the octopus was good, & the décor was very peaceful & beautiful (which is why i’m giving this place any stars) **MEAL: bread – good, octopus-good/ not a lot though maybe 1 small-medium sized tentacle, fish & chips-ok small portion, lobster pasta-ok, small portion, desserts-meh, oysters-hit and miss, whole snapper-didn’t taste good & definitely overpriced

White Star Diner – Menu with Prices – 258 Kennedy St, Winnipeg

I’ve been here a few times since they opened at the new location. Burgers and fries are always reliable, milkshakes are delicious, but the star of White Star? The fish and chips! The batter is light and crispy, and doesn’t hold too much grease. I hope the fish and chips become a regular special! (like maybe once a month – I won’t be able to fit into my jeans if I have it more often than that!)

Deli At the Grove Menu with Prices 101 S Capitol Blvd # 103, Boise

I was told about this wonderful joint from a coworker so I decided to give it a shot. When you walk in immediately you notice the place is very small, with no dining available inside. The food here is amazing though and makes up for the space itself. All the times I have been I have been greeted by the same gal, who I presume is the owner. She is always very friendly and cheerful and is a pleasure to deal with. Since the first time I’ve been I always order the same thing, the chicken salad sandwich. THIS IS THE BEST CHICKEN SALAD SANDWICH ON EARTH (or at least in Boise). The bread appears to be baked fresh as it is always moist and fluffy. The sandwich comes with green leaf, chicken salad, cheese and cashews, I always have her add cucumbers. Price with a meal, chips and drink is reasonable at about $6.50 for half a sandwich. I couldn’t imagine trying to eat a full portion as the half is plenty. This is truly a wonderful quick lunch option.

soho Sushi and Teppanyaki – Menu with Prices – 1811 Douglas Blvd a1, Roseville

Walked up to the restaurant and saw a sign that read “No sushi today, sorry for the inconvenience”. We turned around and got back in our car. A lady came out waving at us, apologizing that they didn’t move the sign from lunch, so we went back in. The food portions were generous, but unfortunately didnt taste very good. I ordered the cucumber sunomono, which ended up being cucumber on top of cabbage(?!) in what seemed like watered down vinegar. My entree was no better; the tuna was not fresh, and the crunch topping was stale. The roll itself was a good size, but the pieces were unevenly cut and too large. I had to bite each piece in half in order to eat it. I also ended up leaving half the roll on my plate because I didn’t want to get sick from the bad fish. The two stars are for the wait staff, whom were very attentive and always made sure our drinks were topped off.
