What a cool place to get a variety of unusual and tasty drinks! 80’s music was playing inside, which is always a plus in my book! The employees were very helpful with pointing out menu items, helping me match the perfect drink to my tastes. My favorite drink here is the Zen Water – the cucumber makes it incredible and it’s great for people who may not like sodas or carbonated drinks. They also have a points program when you check in, so that each purchase accumulates reward points that you can redeem on a future visit for a free drink and homemade cookie. There’s no drive-thru window, but the service is speedy and there is enough parking, as it’s attached to the convenience store next door. Conveniently located right off of the Dallas North Tollway, you can hang out here with a friend or pop in and out for a quick drink! EDITED TO ADD: There IS a drive-thru! Oh boy, I will be visiting even more often!

Sharp Cookie – Menu with Prices – 5380 N Mesa St, El Paso

I’m not a butter cookie type of gal. Most of the time, I think they’re tolerable. But I was really impressed with this store’s cookies. First, the shop is simple and cookies are displayed very professionally. Second, the customer service was friendly and informative. She explained that a lot of custom orders were made and that the assortment of cookie designs could be found on their website/facebook. At the store, you can get cookies to eat and even get regular cookies (without designs). I picked up a day old $0.75 Pecan Noir cookie and it was deliciously chewy, like it was fresh. Their cookies are beautifully designed too – almost like they’re factory made but it is clear that each is hand-made since the customer service rep was in the middle of icing a cookie when she saw us come in. Naturally, I figured that such bright, perfect-looking cookies were probably horrendous tasting. No. They give out samples to people who come into the store so that you can taste what the cookies are like. The ratio of icing to cookie is perfect (a thin layer of icing) and more of the soft cookie. Neither the icing nor the cookie were too sweet. I loved it and I’m not even a butter cookie person. In most store-bought decorated cookies, the cookies are hard and tasteless and the icing is way too thick so that you break your teeth to bite through the cookie. No thanks. I’ll be coming to Sharp Cookie for my future decorated cookie needs.

Coffeezaun Espresso – Menu with Prices – 4518 N Pearl St, Tacoma

This place is great! I highly recommend. Most original drink menu I’ve seen in years. My husband’s coffee was spot-on and my applr pear iced tea was refreshing! I can’t wait to go back and try something else. Service was also good, young woman at the window was friendly and accommodating. Gluten free and vegan options for snacks, all alternative/milk subs available too. My only complaint is the cookie dough bar we ordered. The name “cookie dough bar” made me think it would have chunks of cookie dough in it, or on top of it. In fact the picture posted on the menu looked gooey and delicious. What we recieved was a dry chocolate chip cookie bar, no dough, not even under-baked to give it that dough-ish quality. I don’t think all the pastries would be this disappointing because I could see them through the window and they looked authentic. The overall experience was good so I’ll be back to try again with the treats.

Espresso 4U – Menu with Prices – 1413 72nd St E, Tacoma

This is a great little coffee shop. They have the convenience of a drive thru on both sides of the building, but you can also just walk up to either window. They have a punch card that gives you a free drink of your choice after 10 punches, and punches are based on what you spend, not number of drinks! They have gotten my order correct everytime I have ordered there, even with picky special instructions. They are friendly and greet you with a smile every time. They mainly just have drinks, but also have a small selection of muffins available. Shots are NOT burnt as other chain coffee shops do!

Kâ??s Chicken, Fish and Burgers – Menu with Prices – 3901 Troost Ave, Kansas City

This place is great for those living in Manheim Park, Squier Park, or Hyde Park as well as those living near Paseo as there are hardly any food options within walking distance. I’m always weary of convenience store food options, but being two blocks from my apartment while I’m carless, I figured I’d waste my money and review the new business so maybe others would know about it and help a locally owned business on Troost thrive. It is a simple classic diner menu without any frills or fuss. I got a double cheeseburger combo that I would compare to the greasy late night food you can get in college campuses. For me- this is good! I was worried about the quality of the meat but I even ate some of the burger without any breading or condiments and it was quality meat. They use those orange fajita fries you can buy at the grocery store in the freezer section but I really liked them. For $6 I got a big burger, fries, and a 16oz drink. I think that’s a steal and I’ll definitely be back. No gas, but there’s also an entire convenience store attached as well to get other items while you’re out.

Lake Merrit Super – Menu with Prices – 459 Perkins St, Oakland

A well stocked corner convenience store. You’ll find a wide range of drinks, sweets & just all kinds of non-perishable items. Heck, you can even get here some individual fresh fruits & veggies, which is pretty unique to these kinda establishments. Bonus points: – right across a gas station (with Zipcars) and a bus stop (with the NL heading to SF) – right next to one of the more popular casual carpool spots

Groundwork Coffee Co. – Menu with Prices – 2121 Cloverfield Blvd, Santa Monica

My 800th review! G_oodness, this java! Get this… C_offee for all your… C_affeinated needs! * GET – Latte = So. So. So. Good. Maybe it’s due to the fact I haven’t had authentic, La-Marzocco-made coffee since my long-term illness said, “Uh uh, you can’t have any while I’m present!”, but gosh dang, this is so good. * GET – Banana bread = moist, thick slice that’s sure to satisfy cravings * YES – They have small display of baked goods by the register, and drinks & sandwiches to-go * YES – They sell eponymous coffee bags and merchandise * YES – Window-lined few seats inside; more tables outside (note: this isn’t really a study environment at all, if that’s what you’re looking for) * YES – Friendly service * AOK – The only reason this isn’t a 5-star review is because they’ve gotten our order wrong on 2 separate occasions…but they were quick and apologetic about fixing it. * FYI – This is attached to the 365 store * FYI – Free parking lot with lots of spaces * FYI – Accepts cash and credit cards Highly recommend~

Brookfield Restaurant & Catering – Menu with Prices – 704 Brookfield Rd, Ottawa

I dont think it’s possible to properly describe the awesomeness that is Brookfields. It is a family run restaurant / convenience store in what looks like a little house along a route with really no other similar businesses. They’ve been here for years! First of all, the restaurant has delicious meals and a super fast wait staff. Prices are reasonable too. Keep in mind its an old style. Not impressive to look at, and mismatched kitchenware all around, but very welcoming. The takeout side of the restaurant is filled with healthy homemade quickgrab meals like brocolli or bean salads, sandwiches, and fruit. They have the best egg bread sandwiches! The baked goods are fabulous. You must try their brownies! And of course a rotating lunch menu that is also delicious. The convenience store has lots of extras. Checkout the selection in the drink cooler including local kombucha and hard to find pop flavours. It also has a wall of homemade products like soaps and lip balms. This place is crazy busy during the day, but the staff are both friendly and super fast, so you’re always out quickly even for a sit down lunch. Highly recommend.

Biscoff Coffee Corner – Menu with Prices – 213 Pier 39, San Francisco

How can u not like this place? As a matter fact how u gonna come to pier 39 and not come here? I been coming here for years and yet this is the first time im making a review for this place. They have all kinds of biscoff cookies all different types of sizes and even some that are dipped in chocolate they sell everything from cookies, donuts, other pastries and caffeinated and non caffeinated drinks its a must when its cold on the pier to keep you nice and warm. The customer service is pretty good the employees take your order in doors and they give you your drink on the side on the outside so dont get confused and go to the outside window trying to order your drink, you must go inside. They have a system here people lol oh one more thing. Each time you order a drink they also give you a free cookie to go along with your drink, i highly recommend to stop here, reason i gave it 4 stars is because despite how good the drink was i think their caffeinated hot drink was just a little weak. Non the less check them out.

NoBaked Cookie Dough Nashville – Germantown – Menu with Prices – 1120 4th Ave N #102, Nashville

A really cute and unique idea that offers a novel experience and insta worthy pictures. Return business? Not so much. The concept of NoBaked is like a love hate relationship, but with more emphasis on the hate. The concept of eating rich cookie dough every visit just sounds like a punishment, and I like to eat plenty of cookie dough. They have a nice simple menu, with a handful of flavor choices. In addition to indoor seating, they have a nice patio attached to the parking lot! I ordered a single scoop of the original dough and put chocolate chips on top. It was rich and gooey and offered a rich and delicious flavor. However, I definitely struggled to eat more than a couple bites. I find that an issue for the fact that it happened even with the smallest serving size. Maybe just aim to split a single? For those complaining it’s too rich..may I remind you, this is cookie dough? I wouldn’t expect anything less than rich. Definitely worth a visit, but plan to split a serving with others.

Kurabi Bubble Tea – Menu with Prices – 3821 Airport Blvd Ste. A, Mobile

I used to like hanging out at Kurabi when they first opened. It’s very nice and chill. Good spot if you want to hangout with friends because they have board games and card games you can use for free! They also have free wifi if you need to study but some nights there are game tournaments happening and it gets so loud. They have lots of drink flavors to choose from and you can also customize the sugar level of your drink! If you’re unsure which one to get, they have free taste of certain flavors ? They have numerous add-ins too but I just always get the tapioca pearls. They also have some goodies you can munch on. Taking one star off because the store had been crazy (see picture attached). It’s full of different stuff which makes the store look so messy. I wish they can clear things out or at least hide it behind the game shelf. Nonetheless, it’s still a great spot for boba. The crews are friendly and patient with my indecisiveness (I know, it’s embarrassing haha) Try it when you get a chance!

Republik Coffee Lounge – Menu with Prices – 854 E Green St, Pasadena

I am fairly excited to learn a new coffee shop just opened (June 2019) in Pasadena and I recently came here to grab a quick bite. I found a street parking spot on S. Hudson Ave (about one block away) and street parking is free on Sunday. The shop was pretty crowded at 3 PM and unfortunately they ran out of matcha croissant already. Interior decoration was trendy and their background music got some acoustic versions of pop musics. They have pretty limited outlets, but there are two Wi-Fi access points with the same Wi-Fi password. Their breakfast menu is available all day and lunch menu starts at 10 AM. I thought about getting a cup of Black Vanilla Latte (aka charcoal latte – one of their signature drinks), but I decided to order something I am familiar with – a regular cup of latte. *** Latte ($5): The drink tasted slightly more dark roasted than milky. Latte wasn’t as sweet as lattes from other places. Personally I prefer my latte a bit more milky with an extra sweetness kick to balance out the milkiness, but overall it was a solid cup of latte. Ham and Cheese Croissant ($5.95) – I think this coffee shop nailed their croissants down. Yes croissant was a bit cold, but it tasted great! Bread didn’t taste stale and it was one of the better croissants I have had in my recent memory. *** Make sure to take advantage of the Yelp check-in offer (10% off on food & drink order) because a $6 croissant is pretty pricey. I would love to come back here and try their other items next time I visit Pasadena! P.S. – You can easily sign up for Republik’s rewards program by entering your phone number during the check out (earn 1 point for each visit with $1 minimum purchase – 10 points = one free item from 14 qualifying items).

Popping Avenue Boba Tea – Menu with Prices – 5091 N Fresno St #124, Fresno

I’ve been here enough to redeem my free drink, so I guess it means I’m overdue for a review. I originally saw this place on Yelp under new businesses and made a note to try it. I was a little surprised it was located so close to another boba place, i-Tea, but it’s not a big deal. The more boba places the better in my opinion. The location is actually quite good because the lot isn’t overly crowded and there’s ample parking. Inside is clean, bright and the classic Instagram aesthetic. They have a good spot for selfies in the front with their lighted logo inside of a foliage background if you’re into that sort of thing. They have a good sized drink menu and topping selection to choose from. Like i-Tea, I love that you can select your sweetness and ice levels. Sometimes drinks are overly sweetened. I’ve gotten all of my drinks here at 25%, and they never lack sweetness, which makes me wonder what 100% would taste like. My boyfriend likes to get his drinks with no sugar added. They have a rewards program for a free drink with every 10 drinks purchased. The only con is you have to download an app, Clover, but if you come here enough it’s worth it. Digital rewards are a bit nicer too since you’ll never forget a stamp card, or they’ll never run out of them like 1920 Tea always does. Drink prices are reasonable in my opinion and if you come Monday-Thursday, 4-8pm, drinks are all 25% off (which is when I always go). So far my favorite drinks are the Black Tiger Boba Fresh Milk, 3 Sisters Milk Tea and Matcha-Cha. The Black Tiger is pretty sweet and has flan pieces in it so it’s pretty much a dessert. I’ve gotten it twice at 25% sweetness so I’d definitely recommend that unless you want a sugar high with 100%. Their food looks pretty good from what I’ve seen in pictures and what others have ordered, but I haven’t tried any of it. The overall space is nice and not congested with a good amount of seating and free board games to pick and choose from if you want to stay and hang out. Nothing in particular really jumps out at me about this place, but I do enjoy it and will continue to come here unless some place better comes along.
