Back to the old formulae, space, help & product. Great use of a residential property that luckily had been used as a business many years ago (you have to ask). Loved the use of old containers and a revamped garage. Owner and operator on hand, we were lucky enough to catch one of the partners behind the bar so we learned a lot about the business and from someone with an obvious passionate connection. I can see why a new brewery could be marked a little lower than 5 stars, there are many reasons. My favorite offering was the Saison which drank more like a traditional Belgian but I like that ? I’m trying not to make this a beer/ale review as this is a new brewery and the competition is more than 2 miles away so if you are bicycling or an avid walker/jogger you won’t see much within a couple of blocks to get your attention. The Pale Ale, the Smash (a single hop single malt offering and the Ginger Ale (yes a non alcoholic wonderful ginger ale ) rocked

No Clue Craft Brewery – Menu with Prices – 9037 Arrow Route #170, Rancho Cucamonga

Another brewery in a light industrial area! No clue is quaint, cute and all those other little descriptors that fit with a small business. But their beers freaking rock! (Yea, I came back and added that since I didn’t know it coming in.) Nice little tasting room with decent music playing. I know everyone has their idea of decent but does anyone really listen to Miley Cyrus? The first thing I noticed when looking at the beer menu was there was virtually no weird flavored beers on tap. No lavender, no coffee-blueberry, mostly just typical beer styles. I appreciate this as I think a lot of the breweries popping up now are using “creativity” to mask poor beers. Yes, I meant “poor” not “pour”! Cucamonga cream ale. This was a good cream ale, of course my palate was a little surprised because I had just had a cream ale at another brewery that just did not work at all. This was a true to style cream ale. Thank you! The Belgian honey blonde was different than your typical honey blonde due to the Belgian candi that I could definitely taste in it. This is a decent little Belgian though. Saison Du Clue is s citrus dry hopped farmhouse ale. I like farmhouse ales! This was a good ale. True to the style, with that bit of barnyard character. Dunk On ‘Em, the dunkelweizen. This one was a hit for me. Really nice wheaty, caramely flavors with a bit of sweetness of course. “Honey, I found a beer. Can I keep it?” The Hop Conveyance IPA. I don’t have mich to say here. This is just a nice solid IPA. Good aroma and flavor, no overpowering bitterness. Another good beer! Oat No You Didn’t! That name made me laugh and will be stuck in my head. When later I say to SWPFTD “Oat no you didn’t!” We are both going to crack up… Yes, the beer. This is an English oatmeal stout on nitro. Good mouthfeel, of course that creamy nitro always helps. Hey, keep your mind out of the gutter! There’s barely room for me there… Thus is a good beer also. We decided to hit a couple more tasters. We went with the What Did The Red Fox Say?, a red IPA. This was a really, really good beer. Since they don’t have the dunkelweizen to go except in growlers, which I don’t need anymore of, I think I’ll take the red IPA with me. The chocolate milk stout. Definite and obvious chocolate and just a good milk stout. Put this on nitro please! Ok, No Clue Brew is solid. I found it amusing that another brewery very close by, which we stopped at before this one, was quite busy while No Clue was pretty slow. No Clues beers were so much better. There is brew skill to be found here. Thanks for brewing classic beer styles well. This will be on our list of places to return to. If anyone is a glutton for punishment, please, follow my brewery reviews from across the U.S. and beyond! https://www.yelp.com/collection/-8iscFkpiiCI563-FDfwGg.

Banded Oak Brewing Company – Menu with Prices – 470 Broadway, Denver

I hate to be a brewery bummer as I know how much love every brewery/beer is made with, but this one just didn’t do it for me. Was it bad? Certainly not, but in Colorado, you’ve got to be fantastic to hang! It was a chilly afternoon so we were inside the small unremarkable taproom. The beer was fine- I had the porter and my friend had the saison, but nothing I’m craving/remembering later. The guy who was pouring was plenty friendly. I appreciated the $1 off for happy hour. Maybe I’d like this place more if the weather was good and the patio was open and there were more people or live music or something. I do appreciate that there’s a parking lot, so if you just wanna quick drink before dinner that’s helpful. If you’re doing a brewery tour of Broadway you might stop here, but there are many more unique spots (both in atmosphere and brews) along this street.

Six Car Pub & Brewery Menu with Prices 625 S Polk St, Amarillo

Six Car is AWESOME. If you’ve been to Kansas City and know what Boulevard Brewery is, imagine that, but 10 years ago before they took off. This is the next up and coming brewery in Texas (along with Brotherwell Brewery in Waco, TX). Beer is still small batches so the quality is great. If they still have it, grab a “Summer Nights” which is a Farmhouse Ale Saison (7.2% ABV) that reminds me of a lighter Tank7. They ran out of the Stoned Wheat-Hefeweizen which the waiter told me was his favorite and hope they bring back. Regardless, they have a big selection of beer, wine, and ciders. And did I mention the food? Their food is top notch bar food/BBQ. Whether it’s the ribs, or the fish n chips, I think this is my new favorite spot in Amarillo. On a Friday night in late August, they had a full band outside which is surrounded by trees, diskgolf, and an area for kids to play around. Staff are really friendly and the atmosphere is pretty sweet.

New Realm Brewing – Menu with Prices – 1209 Craft Ln, Virginia Beach

So, I am absolutely up front about the fact that I’m much more of a wine person than a beer person, but I do enjoy the ambiance of a good local brewery from time to time. Some friends and I decided to go check this place out on a Friday night. First of all, it’s HUGE. Like WAY bigger than most breweries I’ve been to around here. And apparently, that’s because they aren’t exactly “local” entirely — so, there’s that. They have a massive space with indoor seating, and outdoor patio with fire pits, and a large yard area that was literally covered with children and puppies. Live music on the patio was a great touch for a nice evening. They sport a variety of bar-food kinds of options, but I’d eaten dinner before hand so only did the beers. I opted for the flight so I could try several different ones. It came with 6 and ran about $15. Of the six, here’s my rundown: 1) Oxaca Choca – BY FAR my favorite. A really excellent stout that was yummy and insanely drinkable. 2) Blissful Monk – a red ale that was just sort of alright for me – nothing to write home about. 3) Belgian Prince – one of their Octoberfest offerings, I enjoyed this one quite a bit. It’s lighter style and had a lot of flavor. 4) Belgian King – the other Octoberfest offering. This one was the more bitter, biting style that isn’t really my speed. 5) Commissioner – a light Belgian style ale that wasn’t bad, certainly drinkable. 6) Phantasia Kolsh – not a big fan of this one. The balance was off to me, so it was hard getting most of it down. So — three of the six were drinkable, and of the three good ones, only one really knocked my socks off. But again, I’m not primarily a beer drinker, so maybe I’m being too harsh. I would, however, go here again JUST for that stout. So that’s a possibility. Overall, a decent experience that is probably 3 1/2 stars for me that I bumped up to 4 for the ambiance.

Good Word Brewing & Public House – Menu with Prices – 3085 Main St, Duluth

Yay, finally made it here! I have no idea what took me so long to get to this brewery that sits right near my dad’s place in downtown Duluth? I’m actually upset with myself, since I don’t typically pass up breweries but LORD, they are popping up everywhere! So, you see my 3 stars? This is only due to my first visit and it has everything to do with the limitations of beer options and nothing to do with the good food and great atmosphere. Actually, their food here is WAY above par (or is that below par, b/c aren’t golf scores better when it gets in the negatives? who came up with above par and below par anyways b/c it completely contradicts the actual terminology behind golf?). Side tangent, anyways … I dropped in here with co-workers to take one of our VP’s out while she was in town for training. The atmosphere is amazing, love how the place is decorated. It presents a very upscale vibe on the inside and more “brewery” vibe on the outside. Our service was also fantastic. Food – best I’ve had at any brewery. We had boiled peanuts to start with … ummmm, i ATE the shells. They were delicious, and the shell had all the flavor in it. Yes, you can tell I’m southern by that statement alone. We also had another appetizer. Totally forgot what it was b/c i was immersed in my beer selection while they were ordering it. I did take a picture, and it wasn’t bad at all. My meal was the Summer Panzanella salad. It wasn’t huge, but very big on flavor. I’d recommend it! The beer selection was certainly lacking. No stouts, no porters and the ciders they had were not part of the flights. I did both of the guest taps (creature comforts tritonia, classic city lager) and the ohpelia berliner weisser plus donna saison. The berliner weisse was OK, didn’t care too much for the saison. I loved the classic city lager, and ordered a full pour of that. I’m not much of an IPA fan so the other options didn’t interest me as much. I base a big part of my rating on beer selection, so I hope to come back again and change this rating to a 4 or 5 if the selection grows. Otherwise, this place is a great stop! Great food, atmosphere plus other craft drink selections with beer. Look forward to checking them back out in the future.

Gilman Brewing Company Menu with Prices 912 Gilman St, Berkeley

First, a heads-up for City and Peninsula Yelpers: Gilman’s Daly City satellite taproom is opening soon. It will be at 2001 Junipero Serra Blvd., next to the Century Theater, and a short walk from Daly City BART. Be there or be elsewhere! Now, the flight from my current visit to the original Berkeley brewpub and production facility: – GT’s Cannabliss Kombucha. 0% ABV. Well, ordinarily I wouldn’t be much interested in a kombucha, especially one free of the Demon Alcohol, but I needed a sixth item to fill out my flight. Hazy gold; cream halo head. Sharp ginger-grapefruit nose. Taste is dominated by ginger, with a bit of sting on the tongue, balanced against a sweet base. Despite the name, I doubt I would have known that there’s anything hemp-based in its ancestry. – Hot Carl Hazy IPA. 7.7%. Slightly hazy gold; white halo-and-patches head, lacing the glass. Mild hoppy nose. Hopped with Amarillo and Simcoe. Dank, with bitterness in the finish. – Plum Champ Saison. 6.0%. Near-clear copper-red; minimal white head. Weak, indistinctly-fruity nose. Sweet and a bit tart, with a hint of antihistamine. I don’t think I’d have specifically picked out the fruit note as plum. – Strawberry Champ Strawberry-Rhubarb Saison. 6.0%. Slightly hazy gold; cream halo-and-patches head. Distinct strawberry nose and taste. I’m not sure what the rhubarb contributes to it; but then, rhubarb can taste like strawberry anyway. Anyway, a good summery refresher. – La Ferme d’Or Golden Belgian Saison Fermented with Brett. 6.0%. Clear brilliant gold; white halo-and-patches head. Subtle pear nose. Overwhelming Brettanomyces horse-blanket funk is the first rather unpleasant impression; fortunately I had been watching the Royal Ascot on TV this morning, and was somewhat attuned to horses. Get past that, and there’s a soft fruitiness, with a dry finish. – La Ferme Rouge Saison. 5.8%. A pretty ruby red; minimal white head. Primary fermentation with 100% Brettanomyces; secondary fermentation on tart cherries. Sour cherry nose. No noticeable Brett funk; it’s cherries all the way down.

Infusion Brewing Company – Menu with Prices – 6115 Maple St, Omaha

This brewery makes some solid and delicious beers. I had tried their Vanilla Bean Blonde at a restaurant in Omaha when visiting a few years ago and fell in love. I’m so glad we were able to make it to the actual brewery. The area that it is in has a small town main street vibe which is neat as opposed to the downtown Omaha vibe. The place is cozy with lots of communal tables and a long bar. We orders a veggie pizza which are from a local food truck called Hawks and of course drank some beer. I had the Radial IPA which was good, not really an infusion but a solid IPA I would drink again. My favorite was the next beer I got which was the Grahamber which tasted like a cinnamon sugar graham cracker. I wish I lived closer as I wanted to try everything! Now I’m going to have to look and see if any of their beer is at least available in stores in my area. If you like beer and you are in Omaha I would totally recommend checking this place out.

Wisconsin Market And Spirit – Menu with Prices – 202 Wisconsin Ave, Oceanside

One Stop Mom & Pops Booze Emporium! All new freezers and a remodel of the interior to reveal the vaulted ceiling. This shop has a gigantic selection of craft beer! From a specialty beer or a seasonal offering from our local craft brewery’s here in North County or a 24 of PBR for some beer pong, this place has got it. From the vast selection of liquor, to the bottle of Fireball chilling in the freezer, this place is stocked to the hilt. Offering the obvious extras like wood bundles for the fire rings at the beach, to propane tanks and ice, there isn’t much that has been over looked here. These guys put the convenient in Convenience Store! For many years I’ve been a patron here, and I wish them many more.

Strangeways Brewing Fredericksburg – Menu with Prices – 350 Lansdowne Rd, Fredericksburg

Oh Strangewaysâ?¦you may be 300+ miles away from us Long Islanders, but you canâ??t keep us away!!! We found this amazing brewery, by chance, in Summer 2017. On our way back from a vacation, we randomly booked a hotel in Fredericksburg, found Strangeways, and we have been hooked ever since. We just visited a couple of weeks ago for our 3rd time and it was just as enjoyable as the first. This brewery is amazing and has become a favorite of both my husband and myself. A quick Uber ride from our hotel and we are all set to enjoy some great beers. This brewery has 36+ beers on tap at all times and everything is listed in categories according to beer type. You can create customized flight trays, which we do every visit to try new additions to the tap list. There is ample indoor and outdoor seating and both areas are enjoyable. They have had food trucks on site along with some entertainment while we visited. The staff is friendly and generally attentive, depending on how busy the bar gets. â??Lucky Charmsâ? is my absolute favorite beer, a Berliner Weisse with I believe marshmallow syrup added. This year they brewed an Imperial Lucky Charmsâ?¦simply a higher ABV version of the original and it was so delicious that we had to take some cans back home!!! We seriously have traveled 300+ miles multiple times to visit, so that tells you how great this place is. I recommend it to anyone visiting the area. You wonâ??t be disappointed!!!

Carson’s Brewery – Menu with Prices – 2404 Lynch Rd, Evansville

The beer is okay, I have had it at multiple local events and never had anything to complain about, but nothing to write home about either. However, at the last music at the park at Akin Park, the sign clearly read $4.00 for a single can, a bit expensive, but whatever, I ordered 2 cans for my wife and I and was charged $4.25 per beer. I wouldnt have had a problem paying the extra .25 cents had it not been clearly stated that the beer was $4.00. I had brought it up to the vendor and was completely ignored, then he shorted me five dollars on my change before correcting himself (thankfully I didnt have to correct him) and I was given the “correct” change (not counting the extra .25 cents per beer) after watching him count it out into my hands. I don’t know if he was just inebriated, but i wont be buying any beer from them again. It was a disappointing experience with a “C+” beer.

Oakland United Beerworks – Menu with Prices – 262 2nd St, Oakland

The Oakland Ale Trail leads me to yet another excellent find! I love some good German, Belgian, etc. style beers, and Oakland United Beerworks really delivers on this front. I tried a sip of a saison, a Belgian dubbel (I believe these were rotational), and a heffeweisen and all were delicious. Priced between $6-$8 a serving with servings of differing size, I used price as the tie breaker since they were all good and I’m indecisive. This led me to choose the heffeweisen, which I ended up enjoying so much that I purchased a six pack to take home! They have a nice fridge up front packed with bottles and cans of their brews to take home. The space was loud and lively on a Saturday afternoon. There’s an upstairs and a downstairs, both with full service. There’s more seating upstairs than downstairs, but I opted for downstairs because someone was throwing a party upstairs. It was nice sitting down here anyway so I could keep an eye on my bike, which was precariously locked to the railing outside since their bike parking situation is pretty non-existent. Apart from this small oversight, I really liked the space. It feels modern and well thought out without sacrificing any of the friendliness or good vibes I value in a place to grab a beer. They also have wifi, but it’s pretty spotty and I couldn’t get it to work. I didn’t try any food because the vegetarian options look pretty limited on weekends. They have pretzels and beer cheese and the like, but apparently not on Saturday, when they have a bbq popup instead. They do have other light bites and things to supplement the bbq, but options looked pretty basic. Honestly though, there are so many food options nearby to grab a bite before or after that it’s kinda a non-issue from my perspective. All that matters is that they have good vibes and great beer!

Alesong Brewing & Blending – Menu with Prices – 80848 Territorial Hwy, Eugene

Alesong is making some very good beer. Approximately 30 minute drive out of Eugene to get to this place next door to King Estate Winery, so be prepared. The drive is worth it, though. Beer geeks who live in or visit the southern end of the Willamette Valley should visit this place. We had Berliner Weiss, Oregon Honey (farmhouse ale), Saison Lorane, their Anniversary double IPA, Pinot Spontanee (wild barrel aged beer with pinot grapes), Cherry Parliament (barrel aged with cherries), Hop Farm (hoppy saison aged in barrels), and Mocha Rhino Suit (barrel aged imperial stout) on our visit, and the barrel aged half of the menu stood out. Their intent seems to be barrel aged beers, many with wild yeast or lambiic style, along with some more conventional/clean beers. Stand out beers were Cherry Parliament and Pinot Spontanee, while the Saison Lorane was a solid 3rd place. Nice place to visit, and they have some limited food along with food trucks available frequently. I believe they have plans to grow and make their tasting room more of a destination while they make wild beers here and clean beers in Eugene. We’ll see how this develops.
