This little hole in the wall bar is a terrific find for me. We were welcomed right before we entered and again when we were inside. I have been to many other places where the bartenders give off a rube vibe which make you leave and never come back, but not here; Sarni was helping us when we were here and she was right on top of our orders and very upbeat. There are two pool tables, and darts, which are a plus because I love both! The restroom was clean and stocked. Also, there was always music playing, that was a variety of classic rock, alternative, and country, which spares any unfavorable silence. The clientele was a mixed group of good people. A nice new hang out spot when in need of a good drink.

Frets & Friends – Menu with Prices – 2105 University Ave, Green Bay

This is a small, dive bar that is always bringing some decent local music. They have a good selection of craft beers, as the owner also owns Ned Kelly’s, and they know their beer. You can also get some pretty cheap beer like $3 tall boys of Hamm’s! The stage is perfect for a four or five piece band. I’ve seen a variety of genres like rock, country and bluegrass bands and usually will enjoy the music. There’s plenty of seating through out the bar. I think that kind of hurts them when having concerts as people tend to just sit and not go up near the bands to dance and enjoy the music. Check out this bar if you’re ever in the mood for music on the weekends.

Wynwood Brewing Company – Menu with Prices – 565 NW 24th St, Miami

New favorite spot! Beer here is SO good OMG, where has this place been all my life?! And what’s crazy is I’ve passed bY it before but it wasn’t until a friend invited me to hear him DJ that I actually went in and stayed for a minute playing their games, listening to the music, enjoying their amazing beer and just catching a vibe. People def should come here, it’s in wynwood close to everything, it’s a clean spacious place with their brewery behind their bar, lots of seating available and an outside area with food trucks. I love how they have live music and provide a bunch of board games. It was so much fun to just hang out with friends, catch up over an incredibly delicious beer and get a bit competitive over a good game of “sorry” or Uno. So, other than the great location and space, other than the music and games that help create such a fun & chill environment, the beer is número uno in Miami. They have your typical beers, your local miami beers (la rubia etc), and THEIR amazing beers! My fav was father Francisco, Love their menu how they give you a description of the beer & alcohol content, and appreciated the employees talking to us about their menu and even letting us taste the beer before ordering it- that was super nice! Love love love this place, can’t wait to go back!

Bobby’s Bar – Menu with Prices – 1718 Morris Rd, Columbus

Perfect place for my 250th review on Yelp. I went here to play pool and drink beer with some good friends after a buddy’s father’s funeral and wake in Columbus, Georgia. Bobby’s Bar, located at 1718 Morris Rd, is a small cinder-block building by the side of the road. The place is a typical small-town, honky-tonk variety of roadside dive bar; very popular with the area blue collar workers and local bar flies. It’s the kind of place where you can drink cheap pitchers of beer, play pool (or horseshoes out back if the weather is nice) and hang with your closest of friends. On the day I went the weather was nice and the smell of reefer permeated the mid-afternoon air drifting in through the open doorway leading outside to the backyard. Out back was where some local blue collar types were throwing horseshoes and celebrating the beautiful warm sunny weather breaking up the doldrums of the Winter cold snap. Classic Rock, Country Rock (and some 80s era songs that my friend Dennis kept playing to get a rise out of the locals) was continuously blaring from the jukebox inside the bar. Sadly this place does not serve food; that would have been interesting indeed. The bartenders were nice; however, when my friend asked if we could run a tab, the sweet lady bartender (who had worked the afternoon shift) nodded and then very nicely stated, “we prefer that you pay as you go.” Best not to piss off the locals if you find yourself getting too drunk or overly obnoxious or cocky while playing pool or horseshoes. This is the kind of place where you might get your ass seriously kicked if you mouth off to or piss off the wrong person. Columbus, Georgia (like most military base towns in the South) can be a hazardous place for the uninitiated. Don’t boast about being from Atlanta; folks in Southwest Georgia tend to be distrustful of if not outright negatively inclined towards non-locals – especially Atlantans. As long as you behave nicely, the locals will be nice to you; stop being nice and you will be in trouble. The drink coasters on the tables had the bar’s logo imprinted on them and the logo states that Bobby’s has been in business since 1961. I don’t think much has changed with respect to the interior of the place since 1961. The walls are covered with old, brown wood paneling; the floor is covered with old vinyl tiling. The bathroom, though clean, features bare cinderblock walls and bare concrete slab for the floor. As far as dive bars go, this one is solid. Perhaps really deserves 3.5 or 4 stars. If you find yourself in Columbus, and feel like doing some drinking, you might as well go to Bobby’s since you sure could do a hell of a lot worse elsewhere.

Critical Hit Games – Menu with Prices – 1003 W 6th St, Corona

Best game shop ever!!! They were very clean, organized, and stocked with some wonderful games and supplies for a variety of hobbies. My DnD group met up there, and they were more than accommodating to let us move tables together, use their wifi, play some soft music, and play. They were polite and accepting of our shenanigans. I would recommend this store to anyone, give them a visit! One tip about parking, there is parking available on their sides, at the back, and in the surrounding streets.

Ernie’s Pool & Darts – Menu with Prices – 815 Forest Ave, Portland

This place, like others have said, is a hidden gem in the Portland area. It’s your basic dive bar with pool, darts, ping pong, cheap beer, and classic rock. There’s nothing fancy here, but you shouldn’t be coming here if you’re looking for fancy. This place excels well in what it tries to do. This place is full of great people. I had the chance to chat with Dona for awhile. Dona is an amazing bartender. She’s down-to-earth and truly makes this place a 5-star dive bar experience. She boasts some really cheap beer ($1.50 Busch drafts) and local craft options (Gritty’s and Geary’s for $3.50). There’s also some food (pizza, meatball sub, etc) available for purchase. And they have an old-school jukebox. Dona told me she does not plan to upgrade to TouchTones, because with the old-school jukebox, you get more plays for less money. It’s full of classic rock, with a couple random country and pop albums thrown in there. And even though it’s located on Forest Ave, parking was a breeze. We got a spot literally by the front door. It beats the downtown parking scene by far. Overall, this place is great for a chill night, especially if you want to avoid the madness downtown. If you like pool, darts, ping pong, cheap beer, and classic rock, look no further!

Gunny’s Mill – Menu with Prices – 1414 W Farm Rd 102, Springfield

My girlfriends and I are always looking for a good place to hang out and have a drink. We have toured almost every dive bar in Springfield and then by chance, we heard of this place. A quick Google search and a drive into the country and BAM! We found our spot. This is one review I probably should not write – I want to keep this place a secret. Please do not go out there and ruin this bar… It’s quiet, well managed, clean and tucked away. Gunny’s is in an old cabin. Actually, the hunting cabin of Paul Mueller built in 1936 when this area of Springfield was still in the country. The main bar area is the actual cabin and then an add-on was put on the north which holds some tables and a pool table. The building had a fire sometime ago and the char marks are still visible on the walls – but all is repaired. This place does not advertise. It doesn’t have to and has stayed in business by word of mouth and regulars. The bar is well stocked – good selection and the staff is all female bartenders that I’m sure on a busy night can keep it all spinning. The walls are covered in cool old pictures and neon. There is a pool table and shuffleboard but what got us… this place is immaculately clean. It is out of the city limits so it is a smoking bar but you would never know it. The floors are hardwood, the tables are well cared for and not a bad chair in the place. Whoever owns this bar has poured some love into it and absolutely maintains it. My favorite is the outside area. Well done patio with beautiful red umbrellas this time of year. The fire pit is well built and the whole place is well lit. Seriously. If you there is a need for a quiet night out with a few friends that don’t want to get rowdy – this is the place.

Fiiz Drinks – Menu with Prices – 6495 Dallas Pkwy, Frisco

What a cool place to get a variety of unusual and tasty drinks! 80’s music was playing inside, which is always a plus in my book! The employees were very helpful with pointing out menu items, helping me match the perfect drink to my tastes. My favorite drink here is the Zen Water – the cucumber makes it incredible and it’s great for people who may not like sodas or carbonated drinks. They also have a points program when you check in, so that each purchase accumulates reward points that you can redeem on a future visit for a free drink and homemade cookie. There’s no drive-thru window, but the service is speedy and there is enough parking, as it’s attached to the convenience store next door. Conveniently located right off of the Dallas North Tollway, you can hang out here with a friend or pop in and out for a quick drink! EDITED TO ADD: There IS a drive-thru! Oh boy, I will be visiting even more often!

LJ’s Lounge – Menu with Prices – 16500 FL-31, Fort Myers

If your look for a cool place with great local live music and hang with amazing clientele let your hair down and rock out and let Lj guide your way, peace and rock and roll to ya ….Mel….R.I.P. Spirit of Norfolk – Menu with Prices – 333 Waterside Dr, Norfolk

The advertisement for the midnight cruise promised “a variety of music from R&B, old school hip-hop, reggae and alternative music”. I’m a member of an older generation but I went hoping I could relate to some reggae, at least one Bob Marley tune during the evening, and maybe some flashback of Martin Gaye, Temptations or Al Green for the R&B, but no, this club atmosphere is all rap and hip hop. The clientele was very colorful, attire was very tight mini skirts for many of the substantially voluptuous women patrons. The food was overcooked, bland and not adequately kept warm. I had to ask for napkins at the serving table as there were none. Alcoholic drinks are very pricey but coffee, tea or water is included in the ticket charge. The positive side is that the restroom facilities were very clean and the staff was very courteous, professional, and knowledgeable. If your vision of a night time river cruise is more Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant in Charade, this cruise is definitely not for you, though.

People’s Republic – Menu with Prices – 3717 McCart Ave #4616, Fort Worth

Great neighborhood bar! Super chill, low key spot. Good beer selection. They have this light show, don’t know if they do it every night but it’s super trippy. Good spot to eat too! They have a food truck outside that serves vegetarian options. I didnt try it this time but will next time I go by. They also have a vending machine with great selection of potato chips. Music played was a mixture of indie, alternative and rock. Good vibes. Everyone there was friendly.

Kelley’s North Bowl – Menu with Prices – 8701 N 30th St, Omaha

This place is your classic bowling alley from your youth (you know that 70’s/80’s vibe) with the early 90’s ‘Cosmic Bowling’ upgrades. While it may be a little dingy, it has all of your bases covered. Full bar with ‘bar food’ and a probably a couple old men drinking, check. 70’s and 80’s rock playing overhead, check. And in case you forgot your shoes, ball and cool wrist brace, they have you covered. Classic rental bowling shoes freshly sprayed down with sanitizer, and a wide variety of balls to see if your fingers fit! The lanes do have gutter guards for the kids as well. All in all, this place isn’t that bad if you want to go with friends or family for an hour or so and have some cheap fun. There are a lot of lanes, and it usually isn’t busy. Grab a bucket of beer, and when the kids get bored, give them some quarters to go play some of their video games.
