My first time ordering from this restaurant, and I am giving it 4 stars because overall I did enjoy the meal. I had a chicken kabob with rice, hummus, and salad on the side. At first glance, the meal seemed a bit paltry, but I must’ve been very hungry at that moment since the meal did fill me. The chicken itself tasted good, albeit a tad on the dry side. The hummus and garlic sauce made up for it. Very tasty! The rice was…it’s rice. Nothing special there. Presentation could have been better as my salad was drenched in dressing, but it tasted good, and that’s what matters right? Now, I did order a lamb chop plate for my significant other, and I was a bit disappointed that two of the four chops were pitiful – can’t tell you how embarrassing that is when you are wanting to do something nice for someone so dear to you! It was not the ample serving that I saw pictured on their Facebook page. Despite, I do believe he enjoyed the meal and will possibly post a review and photo of his own experience. Would I eat here again? Sure. The food was good overall.

Habibi Halal Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 2614 Main St, Buffalo

5/4/2019 – If you’re in the mood for great customer service, and even better food, then Habibi Halal Restaurant is the place to visit. I visited Habibi Halal for the first time on 5/3/2019. Walking into the establishment, I didn’t know what to expect. The owner immediately extended a warm greeting and directed me to the menu. He seemed very genuine in his demeanor, and made me feel right at home. I played it safe and ordered the Koftah and the Beef Galaba. While waiting for those dishes to be prepared, I decided to throw in the Chicken Galaba. I also ordered the Lamb Chops as a side dish (with no rice). My order was to take home, not to dine in. There was ample room to dine in, and a visual inspection of the tables, bathroom (which surprisingly smelled nice), and kitchen revealed that all were clean; albeit in need of minor organizing. Now, on to the fun part. When I got home, each mouthful made me realize the potential of Habibi Halal. The Chicken and Beef Galaba were succulent and moist. The rice was well cooked, the salad crisp, and the chutney (side sauce) was HOT! All of the dishes were made of high quality ingredients, and the meats were fresh. I began the meal thinking that the Koftah would be the best. I was wrong. The Koftah was really good, but in my opinion, the Lamb Chops were the star of my entire order. I would highly recommend the Lamb Chops. They were fresh, juicy, and flavorful. I ate so many Lamb Chops I lost count! Overall, based on the impressive food and excellent customer service, I believe that Habibi Halal will see much success once they become known. I encourage you to visit them and see for yourself. Why take my word for it?

Falafel Corner – Menu with Prices – 1004 J St, Sacramento

I decided to check out this new place today that used to be Dad’s on J. My first impression was that the inside had gotten a huge makeover which was great and they got rid of some of the tables that used to line the right side of the restaurant which was nice – it made it more roomy, but also means there’s less seats now then before. The kitchen staff worked fast, but felt like they were on top of themselves a few times. They just haven’t found their groove yet which I think can be expected from a place that is only 2 weeks old. One of the guys calling out the order numbers was very attentive and asked what number I was because he had seen me waiting for my food still so that was nice. I ordered the chicken platter which came with chicken, rice, salad, hummus, tzatziki, hummus and pita for $11.99. The chicken and rice were very flavorful, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the hummus or tzatziki. I’ve just had better else where. Pita was nice and warm which I liked and their portions are very generous though so it was worth the price. They serve baklava and Turkish delights and your basic sodas in a can. They also have happy hour from 2-5pm where you can get 10% off of your $10 or more order. My only other issue is that we do already have similar food options on the surrounding streets such as Vela’s and Darna so it would have been nice to have something different in place of Dad’s, but I will definitely come back and try one of their burgers!

Cafe Elegante – Menu with Prices – 2905 N Glenoaks Blvd, Burbank

Why didn’t I stop by this place sooner!!! I always pass by this establishment and have always wondered how it is..after the meal I had I will definitely be back! We ordered the following items to go: Soltani with Basmati Rice, Luleh Kabob with Basmati rice, Chicken Luleh with sour cherry rice, and an order of hummus. Hummus was great! It came with a pack of sliced pita and a side of sumac…Not too lemony like other places! The rice on all 3 entrees was fluffy and perfectly seasoned! Meats were fresh and tender! They each also came with a roasted tomato and my favorite:onions and parsley!! The lady who handed me the food was also very nice and greeted me warmly. The place had a homey and calm feel to it. We cant wait to go back, will definitely try the eggplant dip next time! Thank you Cafe Elegante!

Alloz Express Mediterranean Deli & Grill – Menu with Prices – 1055 Adams Ave, Montgomery

New Mediterranean place in Montgomery, Alabama! I’m excited to see a variety of styles of restaurants coming to the area. We came during lunch time which had a very nice crowd. I ordered the falafel and hummus combo. It was $7.99. It came in a bowl with four falafels, hummus, and three pita pieces. The falafel was tasty and the hummus was ok. I also ordered the Spring Salad looking for something to mirror a fattoush salad. Although the spring salad was nice I later learned a better choice for a fattoush is the ALLOZ salad. My friend ordered the marinated grill chicken wrap and she thoroughly enjoyed her wrap. Her wrap was 7.50 and that did not include any sides. I believe it was additional $2 for fries and drink. The owner did come out to ask for our feedback. Thanks for checking with us! As I told him, the falafels were good and the hummus is still a work in progress. I’m used to the heavily seasoned, thick, and smooth hummus served in the Middle East. He understood and was willing to add more season to my next Order by simply requesting! Overall I think it’s a nice place! It’s new so I think it’s going through the adjustment period with hummus recipe! The owner and I discussed the various taste palettes and trying to find the happy medium. Very nice customer service! I will try it again in a few weeks!

Sahara Mediterranean Cuisine Menu with Prices 5661 Hamilton Blvd #3, Allentown

My wife and I ate here for the first time, and had a great experience. The servers were very helpful and personable, as well as welcoming when we walked in. We ordered the appetizer sampler (fried cauliflower, chicken shawarma, hummus, and grape leaves), which tasted fresh, very warm, and had large portions. Our entrees also came with large portions and freshly cooked food. My wife had the chicken kabob platter, while I got the beef and lamb kabob platter. Both came with a generous portion of hummus and pita bread (which was brought out first to us), a salad, grilled vegetables, and rice. This was definitely an awesome find! Very nice people, quality authentic food, and large portions for a reasonable price!

Istanbul Grill Menu with Prices 6204 S Cooper St, Arlington

Well this was my first visit to Istanbul grill! I have to say I was very pleased! I love that it is BYOB, so we brought a bottle of wine. We were greeted at the door and seated right away. The establishment was very nice and cozy! We ordered hummus, Babaganoush, Tabuleh, Cigarette Borek and Spinach Borek for appetizers. Our appetizers were so filling and so delicious!! Our main entrees were Lamb Chops and Grilled Salmon. I have to say this was some of the best salmon I’ve ever eaten. Very moist and flavorful! The veggies and rice went so well with the salmon. My friend ate the Lamb chops and they looked and smelled Amazing. Overall, Great experience and we will be going back!!

Thai Son Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 6471 Victoria Dr, Vancouver

This is a cash-only Vietnamese restaurant with several locations in Vancouver. The one that I went to was on Victoria Drive, which was built in the location where a Church’s Chicken used to be. They have quite a large menu of various noodle soups, as well as rice and vermicelli dishes. I had a small Vietnamese Beef Brisket Stew with Egg Noodles and Grilled Lemongrass Pork Chops on Steamed Broken Rice. The food was quite tasty. Although I couldn’t remember the exact prices, they were relatively inexpensive (plus they have an additional 10% off on Tuesdays). The only negative is that the service wasn’t particularly friendly/helpful, but that is to be expected i most types of joints like these. I think it’s definitely worth checking out. Vietnamese Beef Brisket Stew with Egg Noodles, Small (around $9.50): 4/5 This contained beef brisket, egg noodles, and carrots. The noodles had a really nice bouncy texture. There was a pretty good amount of meat present, which while a bit on the chewy side, was still tasty. I particularly enjoyed the broth though, which was rich and quite flavourful, with just a slight bit of heat. Grilled Lemongrass Pork Chops on Steamed Broken Rice (around $9.50): 4/5 This came with a small side of soup, which was just broth. The pork chops themselves were quite tender and juicy, and did have a grilled flavourful and fragrance. The rice was also well-cooked, with a nice bouncy texture. Summary: Food: 4/5 Price: 4/5 Service: 2.5/5 Overall: 3.5/5 Recommendations: Beef Brisket Stew, Grilled Lemongrass Pork Chops

Al Wadee Restaurant and bakery Menu with Prices 311 S Brookhurst St, Anaheim

I tried this place last week and have been meaning to write a review worthy of my experience. I ordered the kabob steak platter with hummus, rice and salad with pita slices and a side of baclava. It was incredible! I’m very picky on my Mediterranean food let alone trying places other than my fav place in the pack district. But now this is my new favorite place for sure! Service was great and friendly and even gave me extra bread because I had left over hummus. I literally ate ever grain of rice and drop on my plate because it was THAT good. And I don’t know what it is but I always leave food on my plate and never finish a meal, except that night! I even took my plate back to them to show them and the cook how delicious I thought their food was!

Roro’s: Modern Lebanese Menu with Prices 2403, 5655 General Washington Dr unit a, Alexandria

Roro’s is in an unassuming strip plaza, tucked away in an industrial/business area in Alexandria. They offer various mezze (chips and hummus, za’atar fries, kibbeh, etc.), pita wraps, and kabob platters. We came here for an early lunch, and we ordered: Kibbeh (four fried dumplings, filled with ground beef, roasted pine nuts, spices, and herbs, served with a side of housemade tzatziki sauce; one of my favorite foods is the kibbeh, and here, they make it super flavorful and yummy; it does fall apart easily, though); Falafel (the falafel was slightly bland, but good with the tahini sauce and the turnip pickles); and, a mixed Kabob Platter (chicken, steak, and kafta; comes with a side of fattoush salad, a side of hummus, white basmati rice, and grilled peppers and onions; this also came with 3 mini pita pockets; the chicken was the most flavorful and tastiest, so I’ll probably try the chicken shwarma the next time!). The star of the meal were the mini pita pockets – you can tell that they were housemade and were just super fresh and yummy! Great dipped into the hummus or to eat with your platter. They also sell these in a bag, so pick one up – you won’t regret it! There’s also a few bakers rack with some groceries, such as packaged bulgar, rice, pickled veggies, etc. The staff members were all friendly, and there are a few tables to dine-in. Plenty of parking. +tasty chicken kabobs +delicious mini pita pockets! +plenty of parking

Joy Teriyaki – Menu with Prices – 9915 NE Hazel Dell Ave 318 C, Vancouver

Thought I’d take my daughter out for a birthday lunch. She was really wanting some Mongolian beef and I was in the mood for some chicken teriyaki. First red flag… as soon as we entered the lady behind the counter looked miserable and impatient. As I looked over the menu she kept tapping the counter like I was taking too long to order. Ok…note taken. Hurry up and order. We made our order then sat down at a corner table. Everything seemed clean. The decor looked nice. So, I figured, well maybe the food will be better than the service. The food came pretty quick. Almost too fast….like it was already premade and then warmed up fast to serve. My chicken was warm, but there were some dry pieces that made me question the freshness of the chicken. It tasted “ok” but not the greatest. The meal came with 2 scoops of rice and a side salad with bland ice burg lettuce and a few shredded carrots. My daughter’s Mongolian beef meal looked like it came from the lunch menu. Super small. The price was not a lunch price however. I paid over $10 for that meal which is strange because the online menu said it was only $9.75 Hmmm…. So yeah, the Mongolian beef dish was really small. The meat tasted good but was tough. There were about 3 little green pepper pieces and 1 small carrot slice. Seriously, it was not worth it. Just a big disappointment all around. Since that meal…I’ve been feeling sick and my stomach has been gurgling all day. I should of Yelped this place before I went, but I forgot my phone at the time. Ughhhhh…never again.

Kebabs To Go – Menu with Prices – 3662 N Belt Line Rd, Irving

I’ve been wanting to give this place a try and decided to finally do it. Everything looks to be very clean and new. The kebabs are in a cooler at the front so you can see what they look like – I always like that. They took my order relatively quickly and began working on it right away. I ordered a gyro plate with brown rice and eggplant, a beef kobida kebab plate with brown rice and spinach, and the chicken kobida. FYI-kobida means ground, I couldn’t find descriptions anywhere (owners, might be something you can add to help out). They don’t cook the meat until you order, so they came out fresh off the grill. The meats were delicious! They were perfectly seasoned and cooked perfectly. The sauces made them even better. The sides are made ahead and we’re good. The brown rice and spinach were as expected. The eggplant was a pleasant surprise! I’ve only had eggplant fried, so however they made it was excellent, I’d recommend that. I ordered the hummus as a side, which was good, but for $3.99, I was expecting more. It was about a 5-6oz serving with one pita bread, one extra pita would’ve been more in line with the price I feel. I will definitely be back to try the salmon, lamb, and ribeye. Happy dining!

Hummus Express Menu with Prices 8110 Rosedale Hwy #B, Bakersfield

Hummus Express doesn’t give you the best first impression. The tables and chairs are mismatched; the walls need a fresh coat of paint; and several of the lightbulbs in the overhead hanging lamps need to be replaced. However, upon receiving my food and seeing the bill, I was a believer. For about what I spend on a burrito at another famous fast-food chain, I received a plate overflowing with meat, rice, salad, and hummus. My Beef and Lamb Shawarma was warm and flavorful, and paired wonderfully with the pair of sauces that came on the side. The large bowl of lentil soup was addictively good. While the overall quality of the food was more-or-less on par with some of the other similar Middle Eastern restaurants in town, the sheer quantity and value for the money was top notch. I filled up and had more than half of my meal left over for tomorrow. When I inquired about the cost of an extra piece of pita, the kind man behind the counter just patted me on the shoulder and brought me another piece for free. Not to mention that Hummus Express lives up to its name; we received our meal in about 2-3 minutes. While a weekend renovation may spruce up the place aesthetically, they don’t need to make any changes to the food or service. I think Hummus Express will be my go-to place when I’m craving a good, quick Middle Eastern meal.
