Eggsquisite Cafe is a great breakfast/brunch spot. After wanting to try something knew, we stopped in for breakfast early on a Sunday morning. First impression was we were really impressed with the decor. It is a large restaurant that looks upscale and modern. We were treated warmly by a hostess and seated near the window. Our server attended to us quickly, bringing water and coffee with her. I will admit, as an avid coffee drinker who needs her morning caffeine before I can form a proper sentence kind of person, I wish the coffee cups were bigger. I felt bad asking for many refills. I ordered the avocado toast with smoked salmon and eggs. It was by far the most delicious breakfast I had enjoyed in awhile. It was so simple, but the combination was delicious. I haven’t seen that on another breakfast menu in a long time. The avocado was perfectly ripe, the sourdough toast was great, the portion of smoked salmon was generous and the egg was cooked as requested – over easy. My husband ordered the iron man scrambler and was very disappointed. He said the flavour was good, but the portion was so small he knew he would be hungry in less than two hours (he wasn’t wrong). While it is part of the healthy menu options, I would think that anything that has the name triathlete in it would be a larger portion packed with protein goodness to refuel. We felt the prices were fair and average for breakfast spots in Frisco. Overall great experience at Eggsquisite. We will definitely be returning, but next time my husband will be trying something else.

Pura Vida Edgewater – Menu with Prices – 1756 N Bayshore Dr, Miami

This place is so cute- love the decor and the seating areas! Felt cozy and comforting- you can even bring your dog in too! The food was delicious as well. Got the Smoked Salmon Toast with added eggs and it was so yummy and filling. Perfect amount of avocado, bread toasted perfectly, and seasoned smoked salmon. The eggs did come hard boiled, even though I usually prefer runny eggs (poached or sunny side up), these were great still. The service was great as well!

The Daily Harvest Cafe & Juicery – Menu with Prices – 22722 Lyons Ave #6, Newhall

First off, I would give this resturant 5 STARS for quality of food! But gave it a 3 because I felt it was over priced for proportions and esthetics. If it was a “white table cloth” type of place a $ 30 breakfast might have not seemed so bad. Went here for a “healthy” breakfast after doing blood work and boy was I hungry. I had read about the special Avocado toast with Kale, pickled onions, and I had the extra Lox added! It was worth tracking this resturant down. I loved the toast. I also had their special Almond milk Cold brew ( delicious). But $$. I would come back to the resturant just for the amazing avocado toast but will stop there. Also my friend ordered a cup of coffee with her breakfast. Just so you know, it was not “free refills”! What a disappointment. They might want to rethink this!

Toast Culture YEG – Menu with Prices – 11965 Jasper Ave, Edmonton

My co-worker and I stopped into Toast Culture on opening day. Service was relatively smooth for the first day open and the restaurant was about half full at noon. You place and pay for your order before selecting where you’d like you sit. After you’ve placed your order, they take your name and hand you a cute little name card, so they know how to find you once your toast is ready. The decor in the restaurant has a very industrial feel and relatively casual. The staff is quite friendly and our water glasses were filled regularly without having to ask. It took about 15 minutes for our orders to arrive to our toast. I ordered the Avocado BLT and my co-worked had the Smoked Salmon. Presentation was on point and our plates looked stunning. The smoked salmon came on multigrain bread and all the vegetable toppings looks super fresh! And my avocado BLT was perfect; it came with the most delicious piece of Meuwly’s capicola with guacamole and amazing basil aioli sauce with a lots of arugula and heirloom tomatos on the side… or on top of the potato sourdough, depending how you look at it. I would definitely order this again! The portion sizes at first looked a bit deceiving and I was unsure whether it would be filling enough, as my toast just came served on one slice of bread; however, I was quite full until it was dinner time! Because my toast was served on a potato sourdough, it was quite dense and filling. The avocado BLT, came topped with a balance of ingredients from all the food groups, so this one is a good way to hit a variety of everything you need for the day! I would definitely come back again and Toast Culture is definitely worth a visit! Everything is fresh and they source a lot of ingredients from local businesses. I don’t think there is a whole lot of parking in the area, as it is usually tight around the downtown area, but it was definitely a pleasant walk from my office and perfect for a warm day!

Gypsy Place Coffee and Juice Bar – Menu with Prices – 90 Hampshire St, Cambridge

FYI: Their breakfast toast is not really the open face, stuff lying on top of a piece of bread kind of toast you might initially think. It’s a full blown sandwich which is even better. WHAT I GOT: Iced coffee & plain bagel w/ avocado mix // latte & breakfast toast with avocado mix PROS: Y’all I did not eat/drink all of the stuff in the previous section on one day. I came here twice in the same weekend when I came up to Boston for a visit because YES, this place is that good. They serve up some seriously amazing coffee and some equally as amazing food. The bagel I had on the first day was quite literally the size of my whole hand and that avocado mix they put in there was freakin delicious. Don’t be fooled by the name, it’s not just a chopped/mashed up avocado. I don’t remember what exactly they added to it but it kind of reminded me of a breakfast like guacamole. Either way, I loved it so much that I requested them to put it in my breakfast toast (sandwich) the next day. They used some real nice cheese for that sandwich too, and toasted the whole thing so it was oozing by the time it got to me. Great portions, great coffee, and great interior decoration. This place is now my go to if I’m ever back in Boston again. CONS: Menu can be a bit deceiving/under explained so maybe a few more descriptions wouldn’t hurt so people know exactly what they’re ordering but all in all, no negatives about what they serve.

Mexipino Craft – Menu with Prices – 1660 Broadway #14, Chula Vista

When I first heard about this place, I told myself – we need to pay this place a visit when we are back in town. I knew the hubby wouldn’t have been impressed because it’s everything we can make ourselves at home and at a much less cost. But I kept my word to support small business. It was cute. A table next to us had one of their parties get lost because they couldn’t recognize the sign. The mexipino logo is tiny and it just says breakfast-lunch. Seems like all the signs in the area were similar. Their menu didn’t have a lot of items to choose from. So I tried to find something that I would t make at home. I got the pork trio scrambler which included house potatoes, longanisa, spam and bacon scrambled in eggs with a side of pandesal. They really treated their pandesal like toast. Sliced in half and buttered. Personally, that was too much for me. It was very buttery. I like mine plain. I wasn’t fond of their potatoes. They were big and harder to eat. I’m so used to having smaller cuts of potato in a “scrambler”, but maybe that’s what they felt was unique for them. Hubby got the veggie scramble and we just shared with the girls. It was good exposure so we knew what kind of food they offered, but not one that would keep us coming back. Sadly, my nephew said he would have been happier going to iHop or Denny’s.

Grateful Kitchen Co. Menu with Prices 727 N Henry St, Alexandria

This is a pretty cute spot in the Old Town West neighborhood of Alexandria. Their menu features breakfast, snacks, “lunch”, a kid’s menu, drinks, smoothies and smoothie bowls. Our group got: Green Smoothie Bowl: it was a great, filling size. Tasty, good ingredients and a pretty presentation. Smoked Salmon Toast on Multigrain: very filling, beautiful presentation, and we added avocado to this. Tasty. Avocado Toast on Rustic Loaf: your traditional take on avocado toast, somewhat filling and pretty yummy. Pesto Eggs & Toast: a unique take on a toast, pretty tasty and somewhat filling. I love that their food containers, utensils, and cups are all compostable. The inside is pretty small, only seats for 6 people, but some seating outside as well. There’s no WiFi (as stated in the more info section) which is a bummer… but I’m not from the area and I’m starting to see this just isn’t a thing here. The staff is smiley and friendly. We learned that they just opened up 7 months ago to bring something new to the area. We recommended coming to check it out ?

The Coffee Shop – Menu with Prices – 4712 SW Scholls Ferry Rd, Portland

I was so excited to hear that a cute coffee place was opening in this shopping center, which has added some trendier spots in recent years. I saw a recommendation by one of my favorite spots, Wine and Growl, on Instagram and decided I’m come try it since it was close by and they had avocado toast! I knew it was owned by a family (which I loved), but what I was not expected was to have the wife working behind the counter! I ordered an avocado toast but was told her husband had run across the street to buy avocados… Okay? So I opted for an iced coffee and croissant. The coffee was great and they had dairy free milk alternatives. The croissant was 100% purchased from Costco in bulk. If it was homemade… someone needs a baking lesson! Yikes, one of the worst pastries I’ve tried! I so badly wanted this place to succeed! If you want coffee in this area but don’t wanna get a Starbucks, I’d say hop over to New Seasons where the coffee taste the same and the pastries are actually edible and don’t have to be thrown out after two bites!!!

I Love U A-Latte – Menu with Prices – 581 W Campbell Rd #125, Richardson

I’ve been going to I Love U A-Latte for nearly 3 years now & finally made a yelp, so here’s the review! This cafe is more like a home to me. The owners & staff are so welcoming & make you feel like you are part of the family. They always know how to put a smile on your face. Maher, the owner, is genuinely the kindest person I know & makes my day every time I walk in. Immediately after walking in, I’m greeted by name & they already know my order so I don’t have to wait like I do at other cafes. They’ve also got the best coffee & food in the area. I personally love their iced lavender lattes & no one makes that better than they do! As for food, their steak & pepper wrap or the smoked salmon sandwich is my go to. For breakfast, I’d recommend their avocado feta toast. I highly recommend going if you haven’t already. It’s a great place to study & it’s also a great place to bring your friends. You will not be disappointed!

HEYDAY – Organic Cafe, Coffee Bar and Premium Office Catering – Menu with Prices – 555 Mission St, San Francisco

This place is terrible. My coworker and I came on a Monday morning to grab a quick brekkie & coffee. My coworker got the avocado toast & I got their cauliflower frittata. The bread used for the toast was SO HARD and when my coworker asked if they could heat up the toast for her (in hopes to soften the bread), the worker lady was just like “no, the avocado would burn in the panini press.” We were both like, what the actual fuck is wrong with you? Why does it have to go through the panini press? You guys have an oven, why can’t you just heat the toast in there? You’re not going to put a croissant in a panini press so clearly you’ve got other appliances you could have used to heat up the toast. Honestly, she was probably just lazy & really didn’t care about providing the best customer service. The cauliflower frittata was also tasteless and dry like the Sahara desert. The vanilla latte I got was also overly sweet & they don’t even fill the cup all the way. When they handed it to me, the cup was only 80% full, ok what???? Don’t come here. If you want good quality breakfast items then head over to blue bottle, or anywhere else but here.

Iron Gate Cafe Menu with Prices 182 Washington Ave, Albany

Was in Albany for the weekend and was looking for a brunch spot with great food, drink specials, and a nice vibe…and I ended up at Iron Gate! We came around 1pm for brunch and waited at the bar to be seated. They have self-serve coffee which they add to your bill towards the end. You can also request coffee if you’d like. We got seated and ordered the John Denver, the stuffed French toast, and the blueberry buttermilk pancakes. They also had a $15 mimosa pitcher deal to celebrate their 15th anniversary which we definitely took advantage of. Who doesn’t love a mimosa deal for brunch?! The food arrived pretty quickly and it was fresh. I was amazed by the deliciousness of the stuffed French toast. It was amazing. It comes with two slices of thick-cut French toast along with cheddar, fried eggs, and your choice of meat. I went with bacon. I didn’t get to try the John Denver but I was told it was delicious. The pancakes were also really good and super filling. Our server couldn’t even believe how much the two of us ate, lol. What can I say? We were definitely hungry. What I loved the most about Iron Gate is its staff is SUPER attentive and friendly. I didn’t get our server’s name but she kept checking in on us without being too overbearing and was extremely hospitable. Even the other staff members exuded good vibes all around. For what we ordered, the bill came out to about $58–not bad at all for the way we ate and drank! I honestly had such an amazing experience here that I decided to come back the next morning before catching my bus to NYC. I ordered the French toast once again and it definitely did not disappoint. I sat at the bar and was treated with the same respect and kindness. I even had to tell the manager in person how great this place was and how great his staff was. I literally want to come back to Albany mainly for Iron Gate. It was amazing! P.S. All the staff members should get a raise!

SmartBean Coffee House – Menu with Prices – 17690 NW 78th Ave suite 105, Hialeah

You don’t get to be the Duke of a location without trying a large sample of the menu and I can tell you with confidence Smartbean is legit. I’ve ordered in person, on pick up and via UberEats and the quality, texture and taste of the food has been consistent each time. My favorites include the Avocado Toast, White Chocolate Mocha and the Ham and Cheese Croissant. The white chocolate mocha is delicious! I noticed early on they use Ghirardelli products and that’s a plus because I’ve been to San Francisco and ordered directly from the factory and there products are second to none. I usually go with an extra shot of expresso to offset the sweetness a bit but that’s because I love my coffee bold and strong. They have several options including Almond milk which I usually go for. The Avocado Toast is delicious, an above average slice of toast with seasoned avocado and a poached egg on top. I like breaking the egg and letting the yolk spread on all the toast. It’s delicious !!! The croissant is extremely tasty! soft yet flaky croissant with salty sweet ham and melted cheese with egg. They have a Prosciutto version of this as well which I love because of the saltiness of the meat. I can also suggest the Beignet and Bacon wrapped dates! The service is exceptional and the staff is warm and friendly. Perfect little coffee house with a few extras for the perfect breakfast!

Big Eyed Fish – Menu with Prices – 1502 N Wells St, Fort Wayne

Update 7/21/19 Took my mom here for breakfast, first time, always only had lunch or dinner. First & foremost, had great service from Shanita. Beyond pleasant & some of the best service you could get. Five stars for the service. Refreshing to see such a genuine smile & attentive service. A level of service I generally see at high end restaurants, exemplary. Mom had an omelette (your choice of 3 ingredients) hash browns, raisin toast & included coffee. I had 2 eggs, toast & coffee ($2.50). Both together were under $10, including 2 cups of coffee. Can’t beat that for a hot breakfast served by a smiling face. While I like the fish here a lot, the breakfast blew me away. I wish I had tried it sooner, who knew ??
