I acquired a taste for this stinky fruit as an adult and I love that there’s a whole store dedicated to durian desserts. Location wise: Durian Garden is one of four businesses in a single space. The storefront is named E-Patisserie and there is also a counter for Açaí drinks/bowls and Vietnamese coffee. Durian Garden is located in the back with its own patio, it’s outside and uncovered. They say due to the smell they quarantine it to the back. All businesses seemed to work together so it’s not necessarily awkward to walk into E-Patisserie and ask for Durian Garden. When I first walked in I felt like I was cutting through another business to get to my destination. Parking wise: This business is part of the downtown Anaheim district. A lot of the neighboring businesses were closed on Sunday or just hadn’t opened yet for dinner. Plenty of parking in a private lot shared with the neighboring businesses such as the Wharf restaurant and Aztec store. Durian desserts: I don’t live in OC so this was my chance to try almost everything on the menu. The durian crepe was nice and soft. You don’t need a knife to cut through it. The actual durian cream was light and definitely not too strong, somewhat disappointing. At $9 a slice it was nice to try but I’m not craving for more. The gelato ice cream was the best. It was topped with nuts which gave it nice contrasting texture. That truly felt like I was eating a fresh durian that been thawed from the freezer. Delish and worth a repeat visit. We also tried the durian/ coconut spread with baguette chips. The baguette chips were so crunchy, oddly I liked it more than the spread. Not sure how this is possible but the coconut flavor over powered the durian. It was like eating a sweet spread on a cracker. Not my thing and my least favorite item. The durian cream puff had a good durian flavor and the cream puff pastry itself was a good texture. Sometimes people mess that up and it tastes soggy but this was good. Last item was the Hokkaido sponge cake but with durian cream. Very moist and spongey. Sadly they didn’t have durian coffee that day but I saw a lot of people ordering the Mung bean flavored durian drink. They also sell fresh pieces of durian (pre cut and ready to eat) at $5 a piece. I will definitely be back for at least 2 scoops of the durian gelato and I’ll bring my durian lover friends too. Note their hours have changed recently, they appear to be open only on Sunday’s. Call ahead to confirm.

Puff French Pastry – Menu with Prices – 10130 Garden Grove Blvd Unit 109, Garden Grove

I decided to come here after I saw they serve durian ice cream! As a person who loves durian, I had to come here! When I came they had a few pastries out like the strawberry crossiants, some strawberry tarts and cream puffs. But we came towards the end of the night so we decided not to get any of the stuff cause who knows how long that’s been sitting out. The nice part is that it does look like they make their stuff in house so I’ll have to come back early in the day to try it fresh! I really came here for the ice cream and it did not disappoint! During my visit they had durian, pandan and cherimoya (soursop) flavors. They let you sample their ice cream before choosing and honestly all their flavors were really good! The cherimoya was surprisingly very sweet but the consistency was more like a sherbet. Probably needed some more mixing and it tasted way to sweet as if there was added sugar. The pandan was pretty spot on with how you would expect the pandan flavor to taste like. If you wanted a pandan flavor ice cream, it does not disappoint. Now my personal favorite – the durian. They made this fresh from real durian (possibly frozen but I ain’t even mad). The flavor of the ice cream was sweet and was as much as you can imagine durian to be. No added sugar, just fresh durian blended into an ice cream consistency. So yummy! My boyfriend on the other hand disagreed. But if you’re a durian lover, the ice cream is right up you alley! The best I have had! Must try! The only downfall is that I felt it was a little pricey ($3.50 a scoop) for a small portion. I wish they gave you a bigger scoop but I guess the price comes with the ice cream being made fresh from the fruit itself. Will definitely be coming back to try their during pastries but to have the ice cream again !!

La Michoacana Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – 1845 E 4th St, Ontario

Just came back from eating here and I can’t wait to go back! They have so many flavors in both ice cream and popsicles! Also fresh juices, corn on the cob, fruit bowls, shaved ice, and more! Ice cream Coconut (5 stars): One of the best coconut ice creams I’ve had! Caramel (4 stars) Tequila (4 stars) Strawberry cheesecake (4 stars) Cookies and Cream (4 stars) Vanilla (5 stars): One of the best vanillas I’ve had! Popsicles Strawberry with cream at the bottom (5 stars) Coconut (5 stars) SERVICE (5 star) Everyone was so nice here! The owner came out and let us try as many ice cream flavors as we liked. The woman working there was really nice too! Very welcoming. ATMOSPHERE The plaza isn’t the most fanciest place but when you go in here it’s nice and clean. They have tables inside and outside. PARKING In a plaza so parking is easy. Usually when I go to homemade ice cream places I only find one or two flavors I like but I liked everything I tried! Can’t wait to go back. My entire family loved it. I’m probably going to be addicted to this place.

Cammie’s Old Dutch Ice Cream Shoppe – Menu with Prices – 2511 Old Shell Rd, Mobile

Oh Cammie’s, you will definitely be one place I miss when we transfer out of here next summer. There is no other ice cream shop like Cammie’s in the Mobile area. This local shop serves some of the best and most fresh homemade ice cream with a plethora of flavor options. A personal favorite of mine is the Coconut Moon pie flavor served during Mardi Gras…..it is absolutely amazing. She does not skimp at all on the mix ins for each flavor. The coconut moon pie for instance has been, yummy chunks of actual coconut moon pie, and the same holds true for any other flavor I’ve had. The flavors are very prominent, and you definitely know what flavor you’re having. All of the staff that I’ve come across are very friendly. They let you sample any flavor you’d like, that way you can get exactly what you want. Service is quick and prices are very reasonable. There is plenty of seating inside and a couple benches for seating outside as well. This is a must stop when we have family in town, they all leave having fallen in love as well

Jimako Extreme Coffee Headquarters – Menu with Prices – 1056 W Mission Blvd, Ontario

This is the first review of Jimako Extreme Coffee. There drinks are some of the best in the industry. My favorite is the Coconut Mocha. Great balance between coconut, cocoa and coffee. It’s also super tasty in the latte version, but I prefer it as a frappe. The cookies & cream mix is great with ice cream to create a wonderful milk shake. Top it with whip cream and chelate sauce and you are in heaven.

Ziggy’s Bakery & Deli Menu with Prices 1550 Hendersonville Rd, Asheville

Kind of a hidden gem. In a strip mall. Not a very large sign to tell you its here. Parking is kinda difficult to find but keep looking and you’ll find a spot to enjoy this meal spot. Walking in feels very inviting. The colors are very warming. They offer inside and outdoor seating for the nice Asheville days. This place is called “Ziggys” which is nice because that’s also what a lot of my friends call me. They have a small deli and offer meats by the pound at a very reasonable price. They even have Hoop Cheddar from Ashe County. The demographic is very nice here. Some of the retirees and younger generations here. A nice place to have a meal. The staff here is very friendly. They always say thank you for coming in. That’s something I feel that’s something that many businesses are missing. Now for what you’ve been waiting for…the food! I ordered an egg bagel with smoked jalapeno spread toasted. The bagel has a very nice flavor and chew. The spread has a very smokey flavor and smell. It tastes like a mesquite smoke. Very nice. The slight char on the bagel shows that it was toasted nicely. No one wants a burnt bagel. But the flavor of the bagel is definitely better than others I’ve tried. The chew isnt like eating bubble gum like some places. I dont like to have to chew it for 2 or 3 minutes before I can swallow it. Lol. Very good representation of a bagel. Probably the best I’ve ever had. But can we discuss this Philly cheesesteak sandwich! I’ve had Philly’s in Philly. This is better than those. THEY EVEN HAVE WIZ!!! Go to any cheesesteak place in this area and they wouldnt know what you’re talking about. The meat is minced so it’s easy to eat and it holds the cheese sauce really well. The meat is great! The hogie roll is soft and hot. Mushrooms and onions are cooked very well. I think the cheesesteak outshines the bagel. People I definitely recommend this place. Come for breakfast bagels and stay for a lunch cheesesteak. Tell them you want a steak wit and they will know what you want. Definitely a hidden gem in Asheville. I highly recommend this place!

Pupuseria Y Taqueria La Vina – Menu with Prices – 3301 N Story Rd, Irving

I have to admit Ive never really had a pupusa before. But I will say after eating here, I will be back for more! This place isnt as much as a dive as people make it. Its not fancy, but Ive been to worse looking places. I ordered a medley of things, since I wanted to try a little of everything. The fried corn tamale was excellent. The crema for dipping made it even better! I Recommend everyone order at least one of those. The pupusa was far better than I could have imagined. To me, its like a thin pita you eat with a fork. The masa was soft, flavorful, and dirt cheap. The filling isnt jammed packed, but whats there is delicious. The pork and cheese as my favorite, but the loroco and cheese was good too. The chicken tamale was probably my least favorite item, but it was still a good tamale. The filling could have been spread out better, but I can tell they make them fresh. The tacos were the surprise factor here. These tacos are tucked away on the mexican menu, but they have a strong al pastor game. I recommend everyone get a few tacos while here. The tostadas are just like their tortilla chips, which have great character. If you order the tostadas, realize that the portions will be huge. They give three medium sized tostadas with a good amount of toppings. The beef was well pronounced. The crema and queso fresco were fresh and were the workhorse of the flavor. The veggies were fresh and just the right amount in proportion to everything else. The tostadas are just like their tortilla chips, which have great character. Once the meal was over, my bill was so low! I dont know how they can afford to sell their items so low, but its great if you’re on a budget. I will be back here again, and I will definitely try more items.

Sweet Mary’s Ice Cream – Yogurt – Sorbet – Menu with Prices – 500 Perry Hwy, Pittsburgh

I stopped by here this past Saturday evening with my wife for an evening treat. We had both watched Sweet Marys transform from the old bakery building into the ice cream store and were eager to try it. Since it’s an ice cream shop there’s not too much to say about it. It’s located on Perry Highway (US-19) right in the heart of West View. They have a menu and a list of their flavors hanging up outside and you place your order at one window and pick it up at another. There are a bunch of picnic tables to sit at and they have string lights hanging above them. On the night that we were there it had rained earlier in the day and so the owner was outside wiping off the tables. During this time we got to hear him interact with a number of customers and heard that they will often be changing their flavors and that they are looking to stay open fairly late in the year and then open up early as well. For my ice cream on this day I decided to go with a single scoop of the nutty coconut which was described as coconut ice cream with roasted almonds and pecans. I enjoyed the crunch and flavor of both the almonds and the pecans but I thought that my ice cream was lacking some coconut favor. It’s not like I couldn’t taste the coconut but i really wanted more of it since it should be the dominate flavor of everything. My wife had some better luck with her Calypso Crunch which she really enjoyed. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. While I wished my ice cream had some more coconut flavor, it was still a decent ice cream and I would like to give another flavor a try in the future.

Le Macaron French Pastries – Menu with Prices – 12478 N Mainstreet, Rancho Cucamonga

I’m beginning to think the people that have purchased here haven’t had a proper macaron or pate choux. I wanted to get a few items before our movie and I decide to give this place a try. My gut told me not to buy as much as I did based off of looks alone, but I gave it a try anyway. The feet on the macaron were spread and the shell was really shiny so I knew they were going to be dense and sugary.. The sizes were all very inconsistent and not uniform. I purchased 6 pieces @16.50. I normally dont care, especially when it’s a good quality macaron. I bit into the pistachio and it had only almond flavor, it was super sweet, and tasted as of it was frozen. Then I decided to give the salted caramel a try, once again, no caramel flavor, all almond, tasted like it was frozen, and not to mention the hair that came out with it. I was so disgusted that the other 4 stayed in the box. Next I tried the Madeline. It was pretty large and looked super moist. I took one bite and spit it out. It was dry and tasted like it had been baked on a pan that wasn’t properly cleaned so it had a burnt taste to it. Definitely a zero. Last but not least, the coffee eclair. My mom took a bite and said it tasted like old refrigerator. Which means it’s not fresh at all. I was honestly over it and didn’t care about getting my money back, but my mom insisted on going back in. When she went in she was told they dont give refunds. Which I see why because if they had as many complaints as mine, they’d be shut down. Dont trust the reviews.

Beans & Brews Coffeehouse Menu with Prices 6520 S Eisenman Rd, Boise

Came here the first time and by the name I thought they have coffee and beer. Very friendly service! Nice and clean coffee shop. They do have Wi-Fi but it’s secured and you need to ask for the code. I ordered a large latte 24 oz. Which could use another shot of espresso, I wasn’t offered one so I assumed it should be OK. But then I was asked how it is I got an extra shot ? They however put 1,2 or 3 shots depending on size. I purchased one Espresso Fritalia and test it myself. I tried a burrito but all their food is pre-made and is then reheated so the burrito didn’t live up to my expectations. Their bagels and ciabatta looked better, I’ll try that next time. They also have a nice selection of coffee for purchase. I particularly like their grading by flavor, body and acidity, that’s very helpful especially for me since I’m roasting coffee too. It would be nice if they would offer something fresh made, salad, baguette with ham and cheese, soup, chili or similar.

Sourdough and Co Broadway – Menu with Prices – 1601 Broadway # 200, Sacramento

The sourdough bread makes the sandwich! Delicious! Outdoor seating on Broadway is shady & cool. Indoor seating nice & cool too. Parking your vehicle can be a challenge. Parking lot has very limited spots. The parking lot is shared with Noah’s Bagels and Chipotle patrons. Parking in the street is limited. The area can get congested with Willie’s Burgers & Chase Bank next door and being near a very busy intersection- Broadway & 16th /Land Park. Tip: If you live in the neighborhood, walk! Or park down the street and walk. Tip: Take home a hot Sourdough & Co baguette. You can take and bake a baguette at home but why heat up your house during these 100% plus summer days.

Katie’s Ice Cream & Chocolates – Menu with Prices – 3530 Electric Rd, Roanoke

We’re loving the the small ice cream shops in Roanoke! We’d been meaning to check out Katie’s for a while, and it was certainly different than Pop’s. The offerings here, I guess, are largely divided into ice cream, smoothies, frozen yoghurt, and chocolates. What hit me when I first walked in though, was a pink sea that turned out to be dolls (no worries, dolls don’t freak me out). – Mint moose tracks: basically mint chocolate chips, but with fudge swirls and chocolate mint cups, instead of chocolate chips. 5/5 – Coconut almonds: vanilla ice cream with toasted almonds and coconut pieces. 4.5/5 – Strawberry: smooth with real, frozen strawberry pieces, just the right sweetness. 5/5 – Turtle sundae: total identity crisis 1/5 The lady behind the counter provided good service, and sampling was generous. We’ll definitely stop by again.

Sara Lee Outlet – Menu with Prices – 3232 Chelton Cir, Colorado Springs

I love this place !! Great deals and way way cheaper than a grocery store. Now they have an app sara lee . If u download the app u get a free loaf ! they get returns their drivers dont sell on their routes so, everyday they get different items! You do get a free item when u reach whatever the number is for the week on their whiteboard. She said anywhere between 8-12 bucks. Alot of variety there, they have jellys, chips, organic bread alot of neat items I’ve never tried before. Overall I had a great experience and will go back . Very nice girl who said hi upon entering and made sure i had a reward card and knew of the app and that i could get a free bread item for downloading it. Definitely worth the stop by.
