It’s a dive bar in Gainesville. Nuff said. But it’s a fun place to visit. As a Californian living in Missouri now, I’m becoming sensitive to cigarette smoke in bars – that’s the first thing I noticed when I walked in was the stench of the bar from the smokers. I guess it’s unavoidable in a divey sports bar, but I was still bummed out. The cliente at the bar was quite…eccectic- your typical local-yokels and swamp people, some college kids from UF, a couple of bikers, a cougar or two, and a few drunk Vietnamese guys talking in Viet at the bar. USA truly is a melting pot – everyone was getting along! This actually gave the bar some character and made for some good people watching. Beers were good and generous – and the bartenders are cute local ladies. Very friendly and not overly pushy like some of the Cali and NY barbacks. There were darts and pool tables aplenty, and TV’s all over showing multiple games. They play Top 40 music, so it was a bit odd to hear “The Fox” in the bar amongst all the locals and biker peeps. Overall, fun time! I’d recommend checking it out if you’re swinging through Gainesville!

Oâ??Brienâ??s Pub – Menu with Prices – 28 E Kingsbridge Rd, The Bronx

O’Brien’s is a great place to grab a beer, relax and watch a ball game. The bartenders are friendly and there is always a lively conversation going on. Pool table and darts in the back of the bar. Been going here for years. The owner is a class act all the way and one of the most generous people I know. Every year he has a huge Christmas party with free food and drink. Regarding a previous tip…I’ve never seen a minor being served here.In fact the bartenders go out of their way to card people.

Papa T’s Sports Pub – Menu with Prices – 3420 Atlanta Hwy, Montgomery

Papa Ts is a great sports pub with awesome bartenders and patrons! They have darts, pool, TVs, and a jukebox. You can sit at the bar, high tops, or low tables. They have daily drink specials. Also have tournaments on certain nights. Highly recommend for a low key afternoon socializing or for getting your pool or dart game on! Cheers!

Viking Lounge & Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 1971 16th Ave SW, Cedar Rapids

The place has character and Yvonne always takes great care of us. It almost feels as if we’re guests in her home at times which is comforting. Good vibe and mostly friendly patrons. I went to this establishment again last night and kicked myself for only placing 4 stars. Yes it may be a bit dark and ‘outdated’ which may turn some people way off but personally I’d never be a patron at a place where I have to call ahead and ask what the dress code is unless it’s for an event I’m invited to. I’m a real person and this is a real place to just go relax and have a few (for me soda) and shoot some darts or pool.

Top Shots Billiards and Ping Pong – Menu with Prices – 2621 66 St NW, Edmonton

Well sure they open up a beautiful pool hall when I’ve moved away haha! This is definitely the place to go if you would like to try some different things out with friends or just have a nice pool date while actually being able to have good food! This is a very large new hall run by folks that love pool and understand their customers. Service is friendly and attentive even though they are only a few weeks old. Bathrooms are clean and staff works together to keep things going smoothly in my experiences. If you have lunch they have a special where you even get an hour of free pool! They have 2 bar tables 18 nine foot tables that are fast and solid! And for the snooker enthusiast some of the best tables (4) you will find in Alberta! Pool is by the hour regardless of the amount of people on your group. They also have a whole bunch of top notch ping ping tables ($10/hr) and top quality dart boards (with complimentary darts available) and darts fun is free. The food… it is actually very very good and portions are spot on! They have all day brekkie and my favorite thing is the Cajun chicken sandwich which is phenomenal. Great fries and gravy and everything I had I liked as well as those I have brought there. Pool tourneys are ramping up so be sure to like their Facebook page for new dates. Sunday 6 Red snooker and Friday is handicapped nine ball. What else can you say other than there is a top facility for pool now where you can get a whole experience! Enjoy!

Emporium Sports Bar – Menu with Prices – 925 S Taft Hill Rd, Fort Collins

This is a really fun place that has a bunch of pool tables, darts and even a couple foosball tables. If you just like to shoot some pool and have a couple beers casually or are super serious about your pool this place works for both! Plus they have food with pizzas and wings and a bunch of sauce choices for the wings. Tacos as well! They have lots of good local and out of state craft beer on tap or in cans but if you want a Coors or a Bud they have that too. Awesome staff that are super friendly and they just simply welcome everyone! I highly recommend it.

The Old Cocktail Lounge Menu with Prices 306 N Bowen Rd, Arlington

My favorite dive bar in Arlington. $2.50 wells most days, $2 PBRs, and everything else in between. They are my favorite joint to watch football and they have the red zone pass so you can catch all the games. The bartenders are the absolutely BEST you can find. Not only are they extremely attentive, but they are just all around badass people. They have pool, darts, shuffleboard, and a plethora of other bar games. They also do live music certain days of the week! Trivia night is Tuesday, Karaoke Wednesday, and Ladies night Thursday. You basically can make this your favorite local watering hole and be the happiest kid around! Come drink here

Longshank’s Billiards – Menu with Prices – 106 W McGee St, Greensboro

I’ll say this, Longshanks has character. From the knight in shining armour, to the hand painted fire always burning in the fireplace, to the awesome piece de resistance – the leg lamp from the “Christmas Story” movie – Longshanks exudes character! It also (currently) has a green plastic baby pool attached to the ceiling to catch leaks . . . . but I’m classifying as character since the methodology to catch the leaks is so gosh darn quirky! The pool tables (maybe 6 in all) are, like the place itself, a little past their prime. And don’t make fun, but I couldn’t find the bridge. Are bridges unacceptable these days? Anyway, there’s just times you want a bridge. When we arrived on a Friday night, we had just missed the 3-8pm Free Pool time. But, I will definitely take advantage of that in the future. While we were there, rates were a max of $10/hour for 3+ people (rates go down for 1-2 people). Oh, and they have a pretty decent foozeball table too. Longshanks has some nice TVs for catching sports games spread around the place. They also have a good size bar and seating beyond for those who don’t want to play pool. Oh, and the bar serves liquor, bonus. And there is a big jukebox although our bartender was picking tunes – (think Zep). It fit the ambiance just fine. Longshanks can be a bit tough to find. They don’t even have a sign outside, but they are around the corner from McCoul’s and on the 2nd floor, below the Burro. Again, character, because it keeps the place chill and never busy. I’ve probably been here a half dozen times and I’ll keep coming back when I want to remind myself that, despite my dreams of being a pool shark, I’m really not very good. But, I sure do love to play!

Deja Vu Billiards – Menu with Prices – 121 N Burbank Dr, Montgomery

Kinda divey, but cool. 14 pool tables, darts… Cold beer. Has typical bar food menu, but it’s good. Friendly service. $4 for an hour of pool. $6 Bud light pitchers, 10 oz draft $1. Touchtunes juke box and some video game machines at the bar. Comfortable, inviting place.

Ewell’s Place – Menu with Prices – 5718 E Kings Canyon Ave, Fresno

This little hole in the wall bar is a terrific find for me. We were welcomed right before we entered and again when we were inside. I have been to many other places where the bartenders give off a rube vibe which make you leave and never come back, but not here; Sarni was helping us when we were here and she was right on top of our orders and very upbeat. There are two pool tables, and darts, which are a plus because I love both! The restroom was clean and stocked. Also, there was always music playing, that was a variety of classic rock, alternative, and country, which spares any unfavorable silence. The clientele was a mixed group of good people. A nice new hang out spot when in need of a good drink.

Off The Rails Sports Pub Menu with Prices 1430 156th Ave NE, Bellevue

Honesty: This is a sport and pool hall bar. You wannah play pool, they got you. 50 cents a game. Darts? They have it. Wannah watch sports? No corner of wall is left without a high quality tv. Food i would rate 3 stars. As the cook fries and tator tots way to long. I suggest get a salad. Thats some good stuff. Burgers are messy and delicious. Drinks are a lil heavy with alcohol so make sure you ask for an extra soda! Haha! But the chili. One food i would get over and over again is the chili. So darn good!! Its got a minor kick though. So if you can handle mild sauce you can dig this chili. Serously, im writing this only because of that chili. I have tried almost the whole menu. Chili and salad and burgers divine. Not so much fries though. Serously proceed with caution there. But otherwise a great place to hang out and play pool/darts/skiiball. Etc.

Miss Cue South – Menu with Prices – 1720 S Reynolds Rd, Toledo

Absolutely awful. Run down and dirty. The two female night bartenders were rude and disgusting. Touched food and money and did not wash their hands. Bought drinks and pool only to be kicked out for having a baby with us (family ) . Was told under 18 after 9p is not allowed by bar law. No law exists. And actually the code states as long as the minor is with their parents the minor can be in the pool hall. The child we had was quiet and not annoying anyone. And the place only had 4 pool tables being used. Miss Q states they are family friendly but their staff does not abide. The night female bartenders on 10/25/18 were more about giving free drinks to the drunk guys at the bar than taking care of the other patrons, except for kicking us out. So much for seeing my son who is home on military leave.
