The owners are also very community oriented and are very concerned with the upliftment of the neighborhood and work very well with the community stakeholders.

The Pie Chest – Menu with Prices – 119 Heather Heyer Way, Charlottesville

More like the Pie Treasure Chest! This place is gold. Once upon a Charlottesville day, I worked right nearby and would smell the fresh-baked scent of delicious sweet and savory pies wafting through the air on my walk into work. The smell was almost delicious enough to warrant a review in itself. Alas, if you stopped at the smell, you’d obviously be missing the best part. Those pies are tasty. I’ve had a large selection of their sweet pies, and while I’ve never met an apple pie that stands up to my mama’s, The Pie Chest makes a delicious one. The chocolate pies and pecan pies are also brilliant. I don’t think you can go wrong. I had some sort of pie with chocolate chips in it once which was so delicious; can’t remember what it was. But really, in my opinion, the shining stars are the savory pies. The mushroom, leek and gruyere was so satisfying; basically full of all the rich, warm flavors you could want and you definitely don’t miss the meat, even if you’re typically carnivorous, I promise! The other savory pie I’ve tried was chicken of some sort, but can’t remember the full title, but it was just as delicious. The Pie Chest is a great and concise option for lunch or dinner, and the quality definitely justifies the price, which isn’t extortionate but might seem expensive upon first glance. If you can justify pie for two courses, go savory and sweet, and kiss your worries goodbye. Mmm, so glad we’ve got a treasure like this in Cville.

The Pie Hole Menu with Prices 3604 Verandah drive, Augusta

Awesome little hole-in-the-wall spot for homemade pies! It’s a local family owned business, so that’s always nice. They freshly mill their own wheat, so the flavor, texture and quality of everything they bake reflects the hard-work they put into it. The owner is kind and personable. The pies are delicious and they also offer other things such as cheesecakes, muffins, cinnamon rolls and coffee. So far we have tried some sweet pies, cinnamon rolls and muffins, which were all delicious. We are eager to try the cheesecakes and savory pies! I’d highly recommend this place, because for the price and quality, it can’t be beat.

Paul’s Pot Pies – Menu with Prices – 10 Mill St, Marietta

Pot pies to me are a comfort food. Takes me back to my Mom and my Grandmoms kitchens. Paul hand makes this delectable pot pies, offered in both 6 inch and 10 inch sizes. He raises the bar on what you typically think of when you hear the word pot pie. Everyone in their life, has eaten a chicken, turkey or beef pot pie, either homemade or the dismal store bought frozen poor excuses for pot pies. Paul has an amazing variety of pies to choose from. Here is a sample–Jambalaya, Italian Sausage, Shepherd’s Pie, Beef Stroganoff, Sloppy Joe, Seafood Chowder, Pot Roast, BBQ, Vegetarian, Chicken Curry, and the Classic Chicken and Turkey pot pies. This is not an eat in place. You purchase your whole pies either fresh or frozen, and take them home. Prices are good, the small pies range from $7.50-$11.00, and fur the large pies$22.00-$33.00. The most expensive of course are the seafood ones. The pies are chock full of ingredients, and mounded up high. One taste of Paul’s extraordinary pies, and you will never eat frozen store bought one ever again! I was visiting my son and daughter-in-law, and had to get several frozen pot pies to take back home with me to Florida!! I wish Paul had a shop where I live!! If you have not tried Paul’s, what are you waiting for??? They are unable to ship, I asked about that.

Partial To Pie Bakery – Menu with Prices – 200 Shroyer Rd, Dayton

We are so obbsessed with this place. First of all the pies are delicious, every single one of them. We didn’t even think we liked fruit pies until we tried these. What makes them special is you could sit down and eat the fillings and crust completely separate from each other and they would both be equally good. I can’t say that about any store bought pie. The filling is always over the top sweet and artificial tasting and the crust is bland. Partial to Pie’s are perfect. The cream pies are decadent, they use real whipped cream, which makes a world of difference. My kids love the pie pockets because they warm up easily and are eaten without a fork. We all love the quiche with a savory version of their amazing crust. But if you think you’re just running in to this place to grab a pie for dinner, you’ll be suprised at how inviting the dining room is. I don’t know if it’s the mismatched vintage kitchen tables or the dishes straight out of my grandmother’s 1980 pantry. But the idea of an establishment, devoted entirely to pies (okay, there are some brownies including gluten-free and baklava) and quiche seems genius. Even the beverages are simple: coffee, tea, or glasses of cold help-yourself water. Because seriously, when your pies are this good, you don’t need to confuse people with a bunch of extra “fluff”. But don’t be lazy. People know about this place. I’ve never experienced a long wait but their selection will dwindle throughout the day and they may even close early because the are sold out.

South Grand Community Improvement District – Menu with Prices – 3115 S Grand Blvd Suite 350-B, St. Louis

Always a fun, community-oriented event! It’s a great opportunity to get holiday shopping done early, too!

Dale’s Fried Pies – Menu with Prices – 921 N Central St, Knoxville

Dale’s fried pies are nothing short of amazing. Every flavor, both sweet and savory, has been outstanding. If you are lucky enough to be in Knoxville, I cannot recommend these enough – they are a “must try.” One tip though: since the pies are fried/baked, they seem to be at their very best when they are fresh (although note that they are good all the time), and there is nothing that compares to the magic of biting into one of these early on a Saturday morning. Also, Dale herself is extremely nice and personable. The pie cart (and now truck, I believe) is extremely cute, and I’m looking forward to visiting Knoxville again just for fried pies. For those who want to give it a try, Dale is usually at the Wed. and Sat. downtown markets, and she also does custom catering for special events. Highly recommended ?

Crumb Cakery Menu with Prices 62070 SE 27th St, Bend

GORGEOUS and DELICIOUS. You know you’ve gone to the right place when the cake and pastries taste just as good as they look! I have tried nearly everything from her light macarons and pastries to her decadent pies and cakes, and I am always impressed. This is why I had her make my wedding cake and it was a total hit – I can’t tell you how many comments I got from our guests about how delicious the cake was! Tara is very accommodating and went out of her way to make sure we were happy with the design of the cake as well as the flavor. She holds herself to such a high standard and you can trust her to make your celebration extra special. We were so blessed to have her make our wedding cake and I highly recommend her for all of your dessert needs, whether wedding cakes, party trays, or holiday pies – she won’t let you down!

Outside The Box Menu with Prices 13226 SE 30th St, Bellevue

I supported these guys when they were on Kickstarter since I have been trying to adopt to the paleo lifestyle. There just aren’t many options out there that are gluten-free, dairy-free, without added sugar, or is processed. These meals are good to have on hand when I don’t feel like cooking and not have to go out and eat. This was my first order with them. I was in luck because when I Googled their name it took me to an ad to buy 3 meals, get 1 free. Score! The ordering process was easy. I just emailed them what I wanted and said that I would pick it up on Sunday because I’m cheap and didn’t way to pay the delivery fee. I got a reply within a few hours and then the invoice later. Here is what I ordered in the order I ate them: $15 Dozen of Lemon poppy seed muffins – these are so damn fluffy and tasty. I only wish they were bigger. I’d have to eat like 4 of them for breakfast, but I know a lot of work go into these and the ingredients aren’t cheap so I’d still buy them instead of try to make them myself. These would last me the whole work week if I’d only eat 2.4 a day. I will have to try the apple cinnamon’s next. $16 Seared Salmon, roasted tomato compote, zucchini cakes, seasonal veg Those zucchini cakes were very yummy, I wanted more! The salmon was pretty huge and tasted flavorful and fresh. The veggies included were sauteed cauliflower and mushrooms. I thought this was going to m favorite meal. $14 Bibimbap (sauteed skirt steak (grass-fed), cauli rice, assorted veg, fried egg, hot sauce) If you’re a bibimbap fan, you’ll love this paleo-style. The steak was plenty and flavorful without it being saucy. I made two meals out of this one for my lunches. Yay! $13 Carnitas – lettuce cups, pico de gallo, pickled radishes, roasted yam, lime wedges. I was a bit iffy about ordering this because I wasn’t sure how it was going to be packaged. It ended up being my favorite out of all of them! Sorry, salmon! They were very generous with the amount of pulled pork and the fresh lettuce wraps came in a separate container. I didn’t eat this until 3 days after I picked up my order and it was still fresh. The roasted yam and onions were very tasty, and I personally prefer yams over cauliflower. I also loved the pickled radishes even though they were really spicy. I wanted more pico de gallo and lime wedges but then it wouldn’t have fit in the box. I could have easily made two meals out of this one, but coming home from crossfit, I needed protein! I think the most value I can get is from their family style meals, so I will order those next. I hope they will add family sized sides too, like zucchini cakes and the roasted yam. I’m also super excited about their food truck and can’t wait until it rolls up to our box! I love you guys!

Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop – Menu with Prices – 5355 Dallas Pkwy suite 610, Frisco

Well I heard there was a new dessert place in town and i immediately had to go try it. The first thing i noticed walking up is that they are open from 10Am to 7PM daily and closed Sundays and i thought to my self how do you run over here for a pie after dinner out in the evening? The important thing to know is the format of the store is like Anything Bundt Cakes as compared to Emporium Pies. So they are more to go than to eat their like a cafe. I was greeted right away and shown around the store. She explained all the pies and options and was very helpful! I bought 4 of the small pies and got the dozen mini trial size pies. The mini pie sampler was a great way to try all the pies. In the small pies i got the Lemon Ice, Chocolate and the season Peach Pie. I read a few of the other reviews before i went and read that some people didn’t love the pie crust. Im more in their camp. It isn’t a bad pie crust but it isn’t a flaky crust that browns in the oven. So i have had other small pie crusts i liked better. The mini pie samplers end up with a lot of crust compared to filling. My favorites were the Chocolate and Key Lime because they didnt have the crust. The other pies were good but just not a lot of filling so you tasted more crust so the Pecan pie would be very good in the bigger size. The Chocolate and Lemon Ice in the small size pie were very good. I liked the Peach Pie as well but have had others i liked better. Everyone has slightly different tastes so you definitely go try them out!
