There are so many things I could say about this place!! 1. These people have a passion for coffee! You can count on whatever you order to be made with pride and care, and served in handmade ceramic cups if you’re enjoying it there. I have tried every type of coffee drink they make here and everything has been phenomenally crafted. I brought a coffee nerd friend of mine here and he unloaded a bunch of questions to one of the baristas who was happy to talk shop with him. 2. You can’t go wrong with any of their drinks. I’m usually a pour-over person but at Devout, I like getting the mocha. It’s well-made, balanced with just the right amount of foam, coffee and chocolate. Most importantly, they use high grade chocolate (TCHO). There are so many flavors going on in a cup I’m always sad when there’s nothing left! You won’t get an over-the-top sugary, syrupy drink here, which I wholly appreciate. For those who are avoiding dairy/lactose-intolerant/vegan, there is a selection of dairy alternatives to choose from, including oat milk! Recently, my friend decided to order the Espresso + Tonic. It is the only drink I haven’t tried and honestly did not appeal to me but….. HOLY MOLY!! This drink was mind-blowingly refreshing! We were there late morning and I wasn’t ready for anything cold or carbonated, but this beverage seemed to hit us at just the right time of morning. It was refreshing and had a deep sweetness I can’t describe. The carbonation seemed to only let you taste the sweetest notes of the espresso and kept my taste buds wanting more. We have been obsessed with it since, trying to recreate it at home but failing miserably. This is a must try!!! 3. They are devoted sharing great coffee with the community. My bf and I had the opportunity to take an Aeropress class here. The course instructors were the owners of the shop and it was such a joy to be in the presence of people who were passionate about their craft -and the outdoors! One of them goes backpacking and gave us tips on how to bring our brew on trips without having to go the instant coffee route. The class was small and intimate, which freed the floor for more questions and exploration. I hope they do that again! 4. They support local businesses. Their baked goods and flowers are all from local shops. You’re guaranteed a unique experience with these and you get to support small businesses in the area. What’s not to love?

Kennedy’s Coffee House Menu with Prices 1444 NW College Way Suite 3, Bend

I love coffee. I love to support local. I prefer the best quality coffee, but if 7-11 is all that’s available, bring it on! BOM DIA is the worst coffee I have ever had in my entire life. So disgusting that I didn’t even finish it. You can tell the true quality by trying the espresso so I ordered an americano. It tasted so burnt and so stale. It was just awful. Second, I love Brazil. I studied Portuguese for years and visited Brazil several times. It really annoys me that an American opened a coffee shop and named it a Brazilian name “BOM DIA” which means “good morning” and doesn’t support Brazil in any way. The coffee isn’t from Brazil. The feel, style, products, and nothing else in the shop relate to Brazil in any way. AND they mispronounce the name! It’s pronounced like, “bon-Gia”. so annoying that they named it after such a beautiful Brazilian phrase and slaughtered it. Plus their coffee is AW-FUL. Way too much great coffee in Bend to waste your time here.

Perk Avenue Drive Up Menu with Prices 3198 N Hwy 97, Bend

If you are like me (and I hope for your sake that you are not), you just have to have a good espresso drink first thing in the morning, every morning, or you are not happy. So wherever I go, I take the time to find the very best espresso available. When I visit my relatives in Bend, Perk Avenue is that spot. The coffee is *awesome*, you get it *super fast*, and the people there are *super nice and fun*. They even put me in a good mood *before* I get my espresso, and to be honest I didn’t think that was possible. Plus it’s a locally owned family business, which I am always glad to support. If you are staying anywhere in Bend (and especially at the Shiloh or Riverview which are very very close), this is where you should go. But even if it’s a little bit of a drive, the time you save getting your coffee quickly here vs. waiting in line somewhere else will more than make up for it. And the quality of it will make your whole day better! Get the coffee you deserve. Get it at Perk Avenue. ?

Kaffee Haus – Menu with Prices – e, 1599 S St Francis Dr, Santa Fe

Drove by this place on the way into the square and decided to stop by. It’s really adorable and the barista working was very polite and asked if my drink was good or bad after I tried it. I ordered a “chunky monkey” which was a mixture of chocolate and banana and any choice of dairy or dairy substitute. I ordered mine without the milk and added 2 shots of espresso. To be honest I really enjoyed it. The banana is hard to taste over the chocolate but it was good, not too sweet and not overbearing with the chocolate. They have pastries as well as breakfast items and a couple of tables on the side if you’ve got time to sit down and enjoy the day.

Aly`s Coffee Coop – Menu with Prices – 3303 NE 44th St, Vancouver

To be fair: this is right down the road from me. I have been here several times now. Probably my most favorite thing is that this is locally owned, family owned & operated. It’s one of those little espresso stands in a parking lot in between St John’s & St James. One very awesome thing they do is carry a lot of organic, non GMO & local products. Including a large variety of different dairy & non dairy alternatives. The lines are always short. You may wait for a few minutes but it’s worth a short wait. The espresso is smooth. The taste is very original for such a small stand. I’ve received nothing but great service. They also have a punch card. So you can save up your punches & get a free drink. That’s a nice bonus. I would recommend giving this place a try. Especially if you are getting tired of the chain espresso places that seem to serve all the same stuff, the same way.

Regent Coffee Roasters and Brew Bar – Menu with Prices – 249 N Brand Blvd, Glendale

This review is based strictly on my order of their iced mocha latte. First, you can tell a lot about a coffee shop from the mocha they use. I was pleasantly surprised that they make their own mocha, that is ALWAYS a plus..better than disgusting fudge chocolate that other places use. Second, I was greeted by a barista who was sitting on the counter. Like, that’s a tad bit weird for me. So my iced mocha actually tastes decent, which means their espresso beans are of high quality. Problem is that I feel like I am drinking a latte with chunks of chocolate. They clearly did not melt the chocolate, nor did they try to dilute it in any shape or form into the beverage. It’s so bad that my straw is clogged with chocolate pieces. Kinda gross. If they could just figure out how to perfectly add the ingredients together this place would be on the top of my list (maybe top 10, nowhere near top 5). The oat milk that they use is not my favorite either. Oatly is by far the best oatmilk in the market so I get annoyed when coffee shops don’t carry it. Also, way pricier than other places—and I am usually okay with paying top dollar for good coffee- this just wasn’t it. *UPDATING my review based on speaking with the owner*- Pretty happy that the owner reached out to explain the issues I discussed. I love small business and I support them 100%. This isn’t my local coffee shop so it would be unfair of me to write them off from one “unfortunate” experience. I do hope to go back and try the mocha again.

Wrecking Ball Coffee Roasters – Menu with Prices – 2271 Union St, San Francisco

While visiting the Marina District, we were so thrilled to stumble upon this gem of a coffee shop. They have friendly employees, fast service, and amazing, high quality beans. Being from Sacramento, we love our Temple, Pachamama, Insight, etc. coffee roasters, and now we have a new SF roaster to add to our favorite Bay Area coffee companies. This shop has a very small interior. You can push a single stroller into it down the narrow entryway (yes, parents really need their coffee!), but space is very limited. We gladly took our coffee to go, because it was fun to sip our drinks and stroll down Union Street, exploring the different shops. If you decide to get your coffee “for here,” there’s a small counter bar you can sit at and watch any hand pours that they make. There is also a bench along the entryway and a few chairs out front. We came twice, it was that good. Our first trip was in the afternoon and our second visit was in the morning. In the morning, their pastry case was bursting with delightful looking treats, big and moist, and I’ll have to come back to get one! We got some “chocolate milk” for our toddler, which was their house made chocolate sauce/base with some slightly-warmed and frothed milk, and it was a delightful treat! I got a cappuccino on both visits because it was perfection. The perfect ratio of milk to espresso, and their espresso is amazing!! They poured beautifully-designed hearts in the milk foam on top too. One wall has several shelves with items for sale, including their beans and locally-made chocolate. Don’t miss out on this little “hole in the wall” coffee shop! It’s gorgeously decorated and is sure to satisfy all true coffee lovers.

Bottoms Up Espresso – Menu with Prices – 80 W Warner Rd, Chandler

I drive by this place all the time and decided to try it out today. I went through the drive thru this morning around 6:45am with no one in front of me or behind me. After looking at the menu for a minute and not getting a response at the order board I pulled up to the window. A barista made my drink (a Little Irish Girl- this is the name of the drink, not a description of the barista) and I went to work. Honestly, had I not known this drink contains espresso, I would not have guessed it at all. The drink was very pale looking and tasted sweet and nothing like coffee. I had to add black coffee to it just to balance the taste out. I don’t know if it’s just bad location, competition around (2 Dunkin Donuts, 2 QTs, 2 Circle Ks, Starbucks, SoZo, Ziggi’s, Bikini Beans, Dutch Bros- all within a 5 mile radius) or price, but I get the feeling this business isn’t going to last. For the price/quality, there are other coffee houses nearby that are better. I really wanted to like this coffee shop because of how conveniently located it is, but I probably won’t be returning here again.

Yellow Mug Coffee – Menu with Prices – 1137 E Champlain Dr, Fresno

I love local coffee shops especially since they are always so adorable. Yellow Mug is especially so with their yellow ceramic coffee mugs for the the casual, dine-in guest and the yellow-accented decor. The owner was especially kind and welcoming, and does co-own the shop with his wife. She actually makes some of the pastries and baked goods that are displayed out front. The owner was very convincing selling us on the *Pumpkin Cheesecake* upon check out. This clearly had pumpkin puree since it was a little more whipped than dense like a cheesecake. Such a rich, divine creation which lit up our eyes with glee. The *Chocolate Chip Cookie* also made in-house was just as delectable. Decently sized and so chunky with chocolate chips in every bite. For my espresso beverage, I went for one of their seasonal choices listed on a separate chalk board. I elected for a large *Spiced White Latte* which was a nice added touch for those who don’t like pumpkin (yes, they had a Pumpkin Spiced Latte). I hadn’t ordered a ‘large’ in some time and there’s is a 20oz. I learned once again how unnecessary this size is for a latte. There’s was especially frothy, almost like a cappuccino. There was a nice ‘spiced’ cinnamon character to it, otherwise it was mostly sweet. Their specialty coffee beverages are the center piece items for their menu board with the Punch in the Face being the most popular. My friend did order this white chocolate mocha which is very heavy with the inclusions of Irish Cream, half & half, and 2 whole shots of espresso. The espresso was well masked because this drink was DIE-abetes! A cute shop for sure with lots of interesting drinks and smoothies too. They even had some brunch food items. I think their baked goods were the star of the visit though!

Mocha Moose Coffee Menu with Prices 2596 N Bogus Basin Rd, Boise

Wow, oh, wow! I tried this place out for this first time this past weekend, and I am happy I did! I was out running errands for work and was about to pass Mocha Moose by (for the 100th time) but decided I should stop and see what this little red hut on the side of Bogus Basin Rd is all about. I pulled up to the window, was greeted by a very friendly gentleman (who I found out was the owner), and then was instantly presented with the question, “What are we having?” To which I replied, “Well I like somewhat sweet, but not really. And I like mocha’s, but not too much chocolate. And I think a hot drink sounds good, but I could still do an iced drink. But I’m open to whatever really.” (That wasn’t helpful at all, Amie.) Unfazed by my indecisiveness, he suggested, “We have a dark chocolate mocha and it’s really good!” “Yes. That sounds amazing. Maybe do half the chocolate.” “Perfect! Would you like whipped cream? It’s homemade!” “No, I shouldn’t…Wait, yes. It’s Saturday–of course I want whip cream!” About 30 seconds later, this beautiful 12oz cup was handed to me with a bit of coffee heaven inside and a gorgeous swirl of whipped cream sitting on top. The dark chocolate was a perfect choice–slightly sweet, ever so slightly bitter, and exactly what my Saturday morning taste buds were looking for. The milk was steamed to perfection–hot but not scorching. The espresso was also delightful–creamy and rich. Unless you’ve worked in coffee before, you might not notice the difference between a good and bad shot of espresso. But if you have, it is very obvious when one is good and one is bad–and this was one GOOD shot of espresso! 5/5 for me. I will be back!

Ntaba Coffee Haus – Menu with Prices – 2407 Brownsboro Rd, Louisville

Ntaba is a South African Coffee shop and South African market in the Clifton neighborhood with AMAZING coffee and a great atmosphere. My husband and I live in the neighborhood and love walking here with our kids for their freshly roasted African coffee. The owner is almost always in the store and available to answer any questions. He is so friendly and always eager to tell you all about his selection of fresh green coffee beans that he roasts in house. You can clearly taste the quality of the coffee and the ingredients in every coffee, espresso and cappuccino. The coffee here is so much better than any other coffee shop I’ve ever been to. This is our new favorite spot! I DEFINITELY recommend you check this place out!

Equinox Coffee Co. – Menu with Prices – 2800 Colley Ave, Norfolk

This is one of those “How have I not left a review for this business yet???” moments for me. I have so much love for this little coffee shop who makes the best golden milk latte in Hampton Roads. You can try to fight me on that, but you will lose. Locally owned! I often see the business owner having brainstorming or networking meetings with makers, small scale coffee roasters, and other types of unique business owners. There are always signs in the window showcasing local happenings. You get the warm & fuzzy vibes that the owner really cares about connecting with and making a difference in the Coastal Virginia/Norfolk community. It’s refreshing and makes you feel good supporting the business. Okay, so warm and fuzzies aside- how is the coffee? Everything I have tried has been excellent! I will drive out of my way to come here in the afternoons for their non-espresso superfood lattes. The golden milk latte is my favorite – turmeric, honey, and cinnamon. A nice perk me up in the afternoon without the espresso to make me jittery. I am also a fan of their beet latte, and of course, the lattes with espresso are great too. They have a variety of milks to choose from if you are dairy-free – I’m personally not dairy-free, but I enjoy oat milk lattes. From a coworking perspective, the wifi is excellent. There are several outlets if you need to charge up. It is rarely crowded from my experiences, so I don’t feel terrible about lingering while I finish some work. They also have small bites like scones and croissants. I think they have sandwiches too, but I stick to drinks when I come here and like to grab some southern food from the business next door when I leave. When you walk out, you see a small sign- “show love, be kind, thanks!”

Tart & Soul Cafe – Menu with Prices – 6389 Coburg Rd, Halifax

This little cafe has been open for just over a week now, and I am so happy to report that I loved every minute of my time there the other day. I don’t have an office space, so I rely a lot on cafe’s and library’s to get me out of the apartment. Tart & Soul is going to be an amazing little get away with huge, bright windows, plenty of tables to work at, and a patio space for when it’s nice out. I arrived in the late morning and treated myself to one of their scrumptious scones. Really, they had me at cheese and green onion, but as soon as I took that first bite I knew I was going to be coming back. Their scones are crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, with the perfect flavour balance for my carb-loving self. Next up on my “must eat” list? Cinammon buns…but I think I’m going to have to get out of the apartment earlier for those, because they seem to go fast! They have wifi, which I’ve come to expect at any coffee shop I go to now, and the password is cross stitched into an adorable sign near the cash register. Actually, I love all of the decor. It’s cute, a bit kitchy and shows a lot of personality from the owners. There were a boquet of fresh flowers scenting the bench that I sat at, though I could hardly smell them over the smell of chocolate chip cookies baking in the back. Mmmmm. Oh, they brew Anchor Coffee for those interested. I love when local businesses support other local businesses, so that definitely pleased me! And it was delicious too. I’ll definitely be back! I expect I will be working there a lot once fall term starts at Dal.
